No not back to 1.6, just the first 2.1. When you have done that root it like usual and then flash the modified update that is pre-rooted.
Hope you have backups? When you get your phone right create a backup with xrecovery, it makes things so much easier.

Hey XperiaX10iUser,
I'm sure you know about the new update for X10a. Seeing that you've worked with Z, do you have any insider info on if/when/where there will be a rooted xRecovery method to update and also for your ROM? If you do one for X10a, would you consider using 1234-4836? It has voice search stock. Seeing that we aren't getting Froyo or Gingerbread, and google voice search is 2.2 in Market/app brain.

Did you try letting xRecovery install them for you first? Once xRecovery apk is installed on your phone go into your app drawer and open xRecovery and click install. Will get 3green check marks and done.
Install manually: You need to get Root Explorer from Market and set to R/W to get write permissions to copy jar files from sdcard and to destination folder.

Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 firmware (21/12/2010) | rooted | for xRecovery + X10flasher

Hi guys, here's the latest firmware by SE. Since it's not possible to root it with any known method, I prepared update.zip to be flashed with xRecovery
The firmware comes pre-rooted, with busybox and xRecovery pre-installed.
You need rooted 2.1 rom with xRecovery working to install this firmware!
If you already flashed the latest firmware with SEUS, please downgrade OR root it using THIS thread.
1. Download and unpack the file. It contains 2 files: update.zip and 2.0.2.A.0.24_for_X10-flasher.tar.bz2
2. Copy update.zip to SD Card
3. Boot into xRecovery and install update.zip
4. Turn off phone / remove battery
5. Unpack the 2.0.2.A.0.24_for_X10-flasher.tar.bz2 and flash the SIN files with X10-flasher
6. Enjoy!
Make sure you understand the installation process before you try!
Download: 2.0.2.A.0.24-rooted-zdz.tar.bz2
If you don't have loader.sin, please find it here (thanks pedrocel85)
Enable JIT v2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10058308&postcount=1
Cheers!

Maybe get JIT pre-installed?
Wow, that was fast solution !
Thanks zdzihu !
can someone please help me.
Ive download the file attached and got x10flasher too but i dont understand step 5. Where do i get that file?
Hi there.
Is there any images of this firmware?
Is ir all working?

Hey guy first of all I wish a Merry Christmas to all this amazing XDA community....
In topic: I'm assuming that the improvements of this new release are related to the /system folder so could it be possible to flash this new version and after that do a restore of my backup of the /data folder only using xrecovery?? It's just a thought so I don't loose my apps and stuff and I will not have to re do my titanium back up all over again.....

There is also a new kernel and baseband (see step 5). To be honest, restoring backup with xRecovery will work, but I'd also recommend backing up with Titanium (to be 100% safe).
ok so ive figured it out but the files dont have a loader.sin so i cant continue with the flasher!!!!

Yep. That line has me a tad confused too.
That means that zip can be flashed just by booting into xRecovery, and of one doesn't have xRecovery, then they can simply extract the files and flash using the Flash Tool - right?
yea im also confused by step 5.
Is it possible to install JIT?
If yes, I might try it soon.
I cant install xrecovery, already have the latest FW force closes, assuming it needs root already to install?

any other options, pone isnt found with x10 flasher in flash mode but fine in SEUS, so cant even get back to generic old 2.1
Probably stupid question, sorry if it is (had no experience in recovery before), but if I install this FW, would my apps/settings remain, or will it make my phone cleared?
I'd lile to know that, too.

unless you use flashtool and a prerooted version of .6 you are not going to have much joy... there is a way to flash all the files except system.sin (so you don't lose root xrecovery) then boot into xrecovery and install a prerooted inc xrecovery system.sin (as an update.zip)
I am sure someone has already released such a file on here by now (there were .24 versions floating around when that was released)
but the easiest way is just update with SEUS (you will lose root and xrecovery, JIT etc but you will keep your apps and other data) then just root it again and re install xrecovery and JIT.
if thats too hard (or if you can't use SEUS or pc companion) then just download the .6 firmware and use flashtool to flash it (you will need to root it and install xrecovery etc again.. and all your software (I suggest using SE back up and restore for all your contacts, sms's etc and titanium backup for your apps)
Kiwi

which backup/restore methods should I use in my case?

Hi everyone,
I still haven't gotten a response in xrecovery and flashtool threads for 4 days (Doom got his phone bricked and Crowds hasn't been online unfortunately) so I will post it here in hope that I will get a response a little bit faster:
I am *still* on 2.1. and I am planning on installing DoomLord's custom 2.3.3. stock rom with xrecovery installed and root. Then when I see how stock works I would install some real custom rom to get the best out of x10.
Now, since I can't install xrecovery on my x10 (at least I think so because it says in the thread that 2.3. android is required and I dont have it so I doubt that it will work if I manually install it?) I believe I have to use titanium backup (I've rooted my phone) to back everything up (my concern are the game data files but if I do a whole system backup those are backed up too right? at least it says so...) and then when I flash Doom's 2.3.3. stock rom I would restore everything with TB and back everything up with xrecovery, flash another custom rom and restore everything with xrecovery and use my phone normally,
Is this possible to do and is it a good idea?

xRecovery can be installed on the 2.1 rom through the regular .3 recovery tool, from there I would create my backup

you mean I can download the 0.3GBready xrecovery rar file and install it through flashtool?
EDIT: and would it also work if I install the xrecovery that comes with flashtool? no need to download 0.3? and then restore with the xrecovery that comes with the rom?

restore your backup....
you did make a backup before you flashed someothing new?
Always backup in case you f***up..
or use pccompanion t repair back to stock
Which Rom did u flash and which would u like to return to pal? Maybe suggest repairing through seus/pc companion and starting again (or flash global generic with flashtool these will all do same thing) you will need to root again though.

I try downgranding to 2.3 and than root, but didin't happen... I used the Rume.bat, the superoneclick, android root... NONE worked.
But flashtool, worked just fine.

.62fw rooted with CWM - My way

Hi
If you follow the forum you will find some posts of me trying to have last fw .62 rooted with CWM working. Even if some users can do it by OTA, other by other process I never have total success but like most of you…I simple wont to have last fw .62 working, rooted and with CWM also working. The best I get was .62fw rooted but without CWM working and if install fw.62 by the traditional way I just get SE logo and have to flash it again.
After several times I finally have it work…
The only thing I have so far is that I believe I flash what I think is last baseband and after I flash it my computer says I have a new fw to install!!
This process is using pieces of ideas from others so I just get a way of put all together and have it working for me and decide to share with you.
Like always you can try it at your own responsibility.
Fist you should have .42 fw installed.
Root it.
Install CWM XPERIA from market (not the traditional way)
Download this and put it on your SD card: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sea...tloaderlock/generic/generic620.2.zip/download
Reboot NEO on CWM and install the file.
Reboot your phone and install the previous downloaded file.
At this time you have fw .62 without kernel.
Reboot your phone again and again go to the icon of CWM and reinstall again CWM.
Put you phone off again and flash just the .62 kernel. You can use .62 complete fw and choose only to install kernel.
At this point you should have .62 fw with .62 kernel.
On my case I install CWM again just in case.
If you reboot and press down volume you will have access to CWM.
I flash what I read that was last baseband using this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?tfd8bdbdrcd4bpq (after that my computer advice me to update phone…don´t know way)
For those that consider my guide too nooby…guys was the only way I found…sorry.
For those that somehow contribute with links to have it compiled I thank them.
