2.0.2.A.0.24 [mini/mini pro] can now be rooted - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

1: get SuperOneClick from its original thread if you don't already have it. Latest version is 1.5.5, but most versions seem to work fine.
2: Delete the "rageagainstthecage" file (no filename extension).
3: get psneuter.zip from the Xperia X8 Android Development forum thread.
4: Unzip it. Rename "psneuter" to "rageagainstthecage" (no filename extension), and move it to your SuperOneClick folder, to replace the rageagainstthecage file you deleted in step 2.
5: run SuperOneClick. Mine rooted without looping.
6: reboot your phone. Test your shiny new root!
Remember to put your phone in debugging mode, etc. Someone in the X8 thread claims that X10 Mini can be rooted via this method; I don't have a Mini so I don't know for sure. But I've got a Mini Pro and it just worked.
Update:
The file you need in Step 3 is "psneuter", not "psneuter.c". psneuter.c is the source file for psneuter. You can ignore it.
donetus says that if you have problems with Titanium Backup (even after step 6!), uninstall it, reboot, and reinstall Titanium. This appears to have worked for several users.
Amey006 says that s/he had to install drivers from the Sony Ericsson PC Companion for SuperOneClick to move past "waiting for device". I had PC Companion already installed when I did mine, so I don't know whether the process works without PC Companion... if you don't have PC Companion, you can get it here.
Update 03-2011:
The latest version of SuperOneClick now includes psneuter; you no longer need to follow the steps above. Just use SuperOneClick!

Mine doesnt root. I followed all the steps.
Can u please give a detailed procedure.
Thanks.

Does your phone say that it is connected? Try another USB port?
ADB will say "waiting for device" because SuperOneClick tells it to wait until a device is connected; if it says "waiting for device", ADB isn't seeing your phone at all.

had root -> SE update last week -> no root
Hi all,
I had rooted my x10 mini pro with the z4root tool before. Last week ran a SE update that unrooted my device and also installed back all the crapware.
The z4 root tool doesn't work no more.. it stays on the 'busy rooting' notice forever.
Then I tried the here mentioned method with SuperOneClick with with replaced pseudo file etc..
The program say it has rooted and the superuser app appears in the drawer. However Titanium and Root explorer apps do not have SU accress..
What can I try? I used superoneclick v. 1.5
cheers

what firmware do you have ?, i rooted my x10i 2days ago i was on 2.1 update-1 and i used SuperOneClick1.5.5 just followed that guide... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824788
maybe you turned off your phone.. just connect the usb to the comp close SEUS and Companion and check usb debugging.. dont turn it off.. and open super one click and root.. i am not a dev but if you could better describe your steps someone will help you shure
Did you also remember to allow 3rd party apps?
Sent from my Chefens_X10i using XDA App
depending on your firmware theres a few way to root it
1.6, x10root.apk and universalandroot.apk
Just install em and root
2.1, at first there was z4root but SE patched it out, but i used superoneclick and it looped once and rooted straight away
or you could just flash your phone using Zdzihu method which installs a pre rooted 024 firmware
or use this HowTo

[Q] X10 Proces system error, cant do anything.

Hello all,
I was using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002836
for a few weeks and all was working fine until today. All just worked fine until some moment that all stoped to work. Now i dont have any service anymore and when i try to reboot it and it starts again i get:
-No widgets load
-"Process system is not responding" Force close or wait.
-Cant boot into xRecovery
-Flashtool wont recognize the phone
-phone keeps making notification sounds for no reason
-i get no service
-cant connect to wifi
-wont recognize SD card
-randomly freezes
I found on this forum that this problem causes because i install a new busybox thats what created this error. But i cant get back in to xrecovery again or back to my SD card since my pc doeosnt connect to my phone. So also SEUS doesnt connect, what can i do to reset it all or atleast to get back into xrecovery?
Yours,
anyone have any solutions? i'm in the same exact boat.
Try reinstalling xrecovery from flashtool. You should be able to even with force closes.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Go to Application -> Dev Tools -> Bad Behavior -> Crash the system server then reboot. Give it a few minutes to settle then if that doesn't work, download xrec v0.3 from below. If xrec installs then wipe cache & clear Dalvik cache. If none of those work you have no choice but to reflash.

I've tried all of them. Flashtool has always worked for me in the past but all I can do on it at the moment is flash the stock firmware it won't let me click the root option.
Z4root would go through everything but then when I donloaded busybox it said I wasn't rooted.
And with super one click it would spend for ever trying to find the device, never find it then the programme would freeze.
Do you have any other ideas?

Z4root & Superclick are my backup procedure in case I'm not infront of a pc and I always use the flashtool to root.
Are you sure usb debugging is enabled? I know I've made that mistake before then realized that it wasn't enabled. Stock 2.1 does not enabled this function by default as far as I know.

BTW what firmware are you using? If you are still on the branded firmware that might be the reason why so flash a generic 2.1 firmware then try rooting again. Here's an example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15711725#post15711725
If you look at the last few posts Uberlight25 was using branded firmware and had the same problem as yours. After flashing generic 2.1, he/she was able to root again.
Good luck.

[Q] Can't root after SEUS

Hey guys, I have a situation and would REALLY appreciate some help.
I'm experienced at flashing, rooting and SEUS repairs but after doing a SEUS repair the other day I can't get root. I've tried Bin4ry's flash tool and Super Click and all I get is "ERROR - no device found, please enable debugging" and "Waiting for device". I know I have debugging active on my phone but nothings working, am I maybe missing a driver?
If somebody or nobody or anybody could help me out, I'd really appreciate it!

Its so strange, this has never happened in the past. But I'll keep trying the Super Click method then.
Thank you!!
Download SE X10 Mini ADB Driver. Apply debuging in phone. Open Super One Click 1.55 or higher. Click ROOT. Connect phone and, select charging!
My solution was to install PC Companion to get the drivers... duh...
Then downloaded Flasher Tool 0.2.9.1 instead of the 0.2.5 version instead and used it without a problem. So now I'm back to the awesome CM!! This past week of being stuck on SE FW has reminded me of how crap it really is!
Thanx for the help

[Q] Best app for rooting the x10mp?

I'm thinking of rooting my x10mp which runs Android 2.1-update1 (that's what the Firware version shows).
I've come across a few apps for rooting like z4root and easy one click.
Which app is the easiest to use AND safest?.
TIA,
Mike
SuperoneClick is easy to use and it can definitely root our mini with success! After 2.1update-1 z4root stopped working for my mini so i rooted with superoneclick!
And both are safest way!!!!!!!!

jodhaniohm97 is absolutely right. Superoneclick is definitely the way to go. It's fast, simple and doesn't cause any problems.
Agree, Superoneclick is the best

Thanks all for the replies.
After someone wrote a script for our phones so it can install CWM and root our phones using superoneclick, everything was made easy.
why worry about any other s/w to use in the phone. You have all in one rooting technique to do things.
So, verdict? Superoneclick. Go for it bro!
Superoneclick & CWM installer
i dont see any working rooting software other than superoneclick.
I've tried both z4root & superoneclick, and neither successfully rooted my phone.
z4root just stops during the process, while superoneclick hangs after showing "strep 3: something" in the status window.

Nothing happened beyond "Step 3".
TIA.
are you using win7? try running superoneclick as an administrator. also check if usb debugging is on. and when rooting dont mount the sd card.
sorry if i may not be of much help.
This is what finally worked for me:
Windows 7->right click on "superoneclick.exe"->run as admin.
on phone->enable usb debugging, connect phone in "charge phone" mode
click "root" in superoneclick
Thanks all for the inputs.
Ill also try root wit this two app and nothing. Today i will try run superoneclick as admin and hope that will be that!
Superone click root is best and easy for rooting

[Q] Cannot root my Sola. Please help :((

Hi Guys,
I've been reading how to unlock my ICS Sola but so far I have not been able to do it. I tried to post my question in the development forum but I am new here so I could not post there. I am following this thread by B4nary: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460&page=73
I've already unlocked the bootloader without trouble.
But I can not root the phone
This is what I do. I enable USB debugging, I start the script and then I select Normal. (i tried the special setting without success either)
It tells me to connect my phone via USB, so I do it. It displays that the daemon is not running. Then it displays that the deamon in starting on port 5037.And then it displays that the daemon has started successfully.
And that's it. It never displays anything else. The cursos just keeps blinking no matter how long the shell runs for. Why is that ?
I use Windows 7 , I turn off AVG completely.
If it makes any difference I do not have PC companion installed on my computer.

I am not sure if the cell has to have an unlocked bootloader for the rooting tool to work. Mine was unlocked prior to that.

Root help!
I've tried to root my Xperia Sola, with official ICS, original ROM,nothing changed. I just want to root it, without any other effects. I've tried Binary roots, v9 and v15, but didn't worked any of them. It looks like everything is okay, i have got backup&restore, i see what needed to backed up, i back up, and than the phone reboots. I think everything is okay, there are superuser, and if i want to use for example Lucky patcher, superuser asks me for permission, but after that Lucky Patcher says there are no root access. And any other root-needed program says that. I don't know what"s the problem, should i do anything else to get the root working? THX for help!
