Connecting Vibrant to pc as usb webcam for skype calls, etc. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone-
Before you say this just let me say that I've already tried the IP webcam app that acts a wireless webcam from your phone to pc. The app worked and I was able to see the stream from my phone in my browser, but I couldn't get it to display the stream in skype (although it did detect the webcam, the screen was just black. Anyway, I've been trying to figure out a way to connect my Vibrant to my PC via the usb cable and use it as a WIRED webcam, so that it would be picked up as an external webcam by windows. The only reason I prefer to go wired is because of the fact that I'm trying to get rid of any frame lag between when I speak/move and when the computer shows it, which I assume would be eliminated by a wired connection. If anyone has any ideas, let me know, thanks.
-Much ablidged,

any help please?

It wasn't working for me either

Any help? Thnx again

I definitely would love to know the answer to this also, although I admit I did not search google for results. I just ran across your post and now I'm curious.

it may work as video out, but not strictly as hardware like a regular video cam. Meaning you will need the special cables and a capture card on the computer......

When you say it might work as video out, what do you mean exactly? I realize it may not pick it up as a usb webcam automatically, but is there any way to trick into thinking it is a wired webcam or something similar with a piece of software or something?

could th wizard be used as a remote input device?

I have bought a sff pc and have set it up behind the tv to dowloand and then playback torrents. currently i am using a clunky line of site ir keyboard and thought today would i be able to use the keyboard on the wizard via bluetooth to connect?
any thoughts or suggestions as to software that exists for this purpose?
o/s is win 2000
thanks
You could remote desktop over WiFi, doesn't even need line of sight that way!
didnt even think of that, all i need to do is look at the big screen as opposed to the little one
what rdp software would anyone recommend for this task ?
Z2 R2PC from Z2 Software seems to work well.
Looks interesting, any free alternatives?
Had a go with logmein and when watching video the playback stutters due to the connection.
Can anyone suggest anything else please.
Remote Connection Software
You can try MyMobile. It software that runs on your PC and you can bring up the screen and use you mouse as a stylus. It works great. The only drawback I found is when you use it and a bluetooth headset, the headset sounds garbled. You also need to establish an Active Sync connection with the PPC and the PC.
Just goto www.mymobiler.com to download it.

[Q] Possible to listen on Android audio played on PC?

My desire is to be able to listen, on my Android, anything that is output on my PC soundcard (running Linux).
I've been reading about pulseaudio and I'm able to stream specific things, like mp3 files. But I wanted to let Android get everything that is output to pulseaudio. Like YouTube videos, desktop sound effects, music.
The reason? I hate to switch my headphone.
Does anyone has any idea on this?
I've read that it is possible to enable pulseaudio to stream PC's general audio. What can I use to connect my Android to that?

Well if you are going to use pulse audio on the pc, im pretty sure you would need a pulseaudio app for the phone.
I'm not sure why you want to listen to the audio on your phone. The tiny speaker in the phone is horrible quality compared to the speakers on your laptop.
I want to listen to my PC on my Android with headphones. Not Android's tiny speaker
This would be nice if would be possible; for example it can be used as (sort of) wireless headphones for PC; I will definitely love this option for watching movies; play them on TV via PC, and listen audio via phone, and I don't have to worry about headphone cable (just stuck phone in pocket, and connect headphones in phone).
If someone knows how to make this work, please feel free to reply
P.S. it will be great if it will work over WIFI
I'll bump this in hopes someone has found a solution by now, for Linux and Windows.
Asset UPNP will let you stream a PC's audio output to any dlna client. Its Windows and Mac only at the moment though. I'm looking for something that'll do the same for android. Theres tonnes of DLNA apps out there, but they only stream files, not the complete audio output (ie alerts, streamed audio, phone calls etc).
I'd like this too, ideally i could plug my phone into my amplifier and play music from my pc , save moving everything around.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
im also in need of this.. connect pc and android phone via wifi n stream all audio output (line-out) to android in realtime with no detectable lag.
SoundWire does this. However, there is a noticable slight lag. I'm hoping there's a better solution out there (even if it's over usb).
Edit: Not sure this works on Linux. I use Windows 7
If you want a lagg-free solution, just plug your Headphone-out(pc) to your Mic-in (phone), resistor needed.
Nobody got this idea before ?
You could also just stream your audio from PC with VLC via Wifi...

Plugging into my Mic-in on my phone is not an option, because my headphones are already plugged into the 3.5mm jack. So it has to be over usb or wirelessly.
People want to stream all the audio from their PC to their phone, not just audio from a video. Does VLC do that?
Has anyone found a solution to this?
I found this info doing a quick search on ixquick-dot-com. It sounds like it's a definitive solution.

---------
You can install airbubble on your android, which works as a speaker using apple's AirPlay (DAAP) protocol.
[play.google.com] /store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.airbubble
Pulseaudio can be configured to stream to any AirPlay receiver - check this answer for details on setting that up: [superuser.com] /questions/331126/how-can-you-stream-music-from-ubuntu-to-airplay-speakers-on-your-network-with-ub
With airbubble running, it should show up as a speaker option in the ubuntu sound menu.

I haven't tested it yet, as I haven't reconfigured the comp to use PulseAudio. It may work over 3g AND wifi, just like SoundWire, but instead using a Linux distro rather than Windoze. I plan to test and report soon.
My apologies for the modified urls, the forums won't let me post links yet.
soundwire
i think soundwire can help us in this case
search for it on google play
i have just joined so its not going to allow me to post a link

I m using this since long and it perfectly streams all audio which your pc generates via wifi to ur android, and u can also use it as a replacement of ur speakers.:good::cyclops:

iDisplay for Android review: turn your smartphone or tablet into a 2nd or 3rd desktop display
Sound nice thanks , but I don't want to use it by server or internet, i just want to plug the usb cable or pair with pc by bluetooth, and enjoy another screen control by the regular pc mouse and keyboard .

Go figure the USB cable was the important part of your equation
I honestly haven't the foggiest what you're trying to accomplish. But, you can always pair a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to use with your Streak. I will often use 2x Client to connect a terminal services session this way. The USB host mode in Streak Droid lets you use the pdmi connector to mount an external USB hard drive or USB peripheral. However, in direct answer to your inquiry, no. There is no such thing as video out from PC over USB to pdmi on Streak.
...Hell, people have a hard enough time using the HDMI out on the Streak and that is a supported feature!
Maybe i need vga to usb cable. I just want to use the dell screen as a monitor to pc. Not the opposite. Could be or not? Anyboddy else have idea

I still use
Team Wiever (now in market too).
Quick, easy, universal, 3G, no comercial FREE!!
Test this
Thanks , I tried the teamviewer its nice but its use the internet to control the pc so its little slow , moreover I want to use the regular pc mouse and the usb cable for connection.

LOL
That's because it is crap! j/k It works about as good as VNC and the driver crashes my Win7 laptop after every time I use it. A quick uninstall / reboot/ reinstall / reboot "works". I use AirDisplay with my iPad and Win7 laptop and it works about the same. As for the best way to use a PC from your Streak, I recommend 2xClient (to connect RDP with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse!)

Is it possible to use this phone as a keyboard or mouse?

I was wondering if there was an app that would let you use the phone as a mouse/keyboard for a computer/laptop. Something like Blueputdroid, which turns the phone into a bluetooth mouse/keyboard using root and doesn't require additional software to be installed and configured on the computer.
BluePutdroid would've been just fine but I haven't had luck with it - Whenever I use it, it crashes after a few seconds and corrupts my sdcard somehow.
So does anyone know of app that can turn the phone into a bluetooth or usb mouse/keyboard so it's just like plugging in a normal keyboard or mouse?
Thanks!

First off, most do require somesort of server software and run over wifi, so what OS do you use?
But i happen to use Unified Remote. I love it to death, I wish to hell I could get it on my wifes *cringe* iphone just because it controls literately everything windows. It costs a few bones, but is well worth it (cause of netflix, i use windows as my media boxes, and it has remotes for everything media center on windows...highly recommended.)
Not sure about bluetooth only cause I don't have it on my tv boxes.
If you use Windows you can use an app called Win Remote. Works pretty well.

This is what I use, very simple and works flawlessly. But it does require the server to be ran on the computer. It's got two-finger multi-touch support for scrolling like a MacBook trackpad which is useful for cruising the interwebz.

[Q] Dock / Webtop
