[Q] Mapping a key to end call - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hello.
I've searched the forum and found no answer to this question. And Android 2.2 is coming/not coming/ coming/ maybe coming, so
is there any way to end call with a key, either power or one of three function keys? Android 2.1.
I will root my phone if it is necessary, no problem.
And if someone knew, how to make calls hands-free with bluetooth... Let's say it, as a business phone my X10mini pro is a disaster, comparing to my previous Nokia N95...
Thanks
A.

I'd love to have a solution for this.

Not sure but may be Tasker can do it. I have a gesture so that when I put the phone face down, it disconnect from the data network and also hangs the current call. Not sure about doing through a key, but I bet that it's possible.

you might want to have a look at ADB Mask controller..

Damn.. sorry bout that.. I wonder what the difference is.. perhaps you could ask the DEV who made it to include the pro.. or ask him what he is changing to make the power button end the call..

He is editing some file for sure. Let's hope he will reveal it.

Resolved:
For X10 mni pro.
In file "system/usr/keylayout/mimmi_keypad.kl" change this line:
key 107 POWER WAKE_DROPPED
with this:
key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED
For X10 mini change the file
"/system/usr/keylayout/robyn_keypad.kl"
REBOOT!

change pwer key function
im on mini pro also,,is it possible to alter that txt with root explorer ,,? thanks
edit sorry does work after reboot,,,

By the way, after this modification the button continues to work for putting the phone into the sleep mode as well!

One more link, I have not tried though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464

for mini users I still recommend using the ADB mask controller tool.

Sure. But what it does it changes the line that I quoted. In fact the information comes from ADB developer

Yep, I know that, I asked the ADB mask DEV in the same thread you did and he answered us both in the same post I'm just saying that the ADB mask controller is quicker (for mini users) and can do a bunch of other stuff too.. (pretty much everything can be done with adb, txt editors and root explorer but its always nice having a GUI to speed things up/simplify things)

It seems like it is able to map all buttons except the power and the focus... could try to make an x10 version. ill look into it. the dev seems a bit occupied at the moment, i'll put a 'SE x10 minis not fully working" post.

Default Keyboard during Phone Usage?

All,
Can anyone provide me the tweak or registry key to allow for me to continue typing on the thumb board while on a phone call? (Presently while talking, the system defaults to the number pad while talking)
Any help would be appreciated. I have seen a couple threads about changing the default keyboard config, but not for this one directly.
Thanks,
Bob

Interesting, so when you are in a call and you type an SMS or email at the same time, the "Y U I H J K B M N ." keys don't type numbers in their place? I would love to have the letters instead of only numbers. The numbers are a help in 2% of the cases, but for the most part, I want to type notes about phone calls and without having the thumb board working, I am stuck with the touchscreen and it is much slower for me.
Either way, I appreaciate your help

I'm using original spanish ROM WM6 and I have the same problem.
Me too
Let's bump this thread up the date sort:
AP 3.0, still. I can't get letters with the kbd at all when in a call, so I end up using an on-screen, or translating whatever I typed after the call. It sucks. I thought the active prg would dictate what happens with the keys. ???
I must admit the convenience of the automatic switch when in the phone app is nice.
I'm not getting why some units do this and some don't, or if it might be that people aren't using thier keyboards during a call in a different app.
Reg key? Any better ideas?

On screen keyboard or hardware keyboard? On screen works fine, hardware not since WM6.
its important to me, i would love to type using thumb keyboard while talking, i can confirm that vanilla version of 6.1 does that too but its a beta rom and i like AP4, maybe the athena project people can inlight us about this matter and creat a patch for us to use
for importancy am trying to keep this up, guys its doable, someone is required to just lead us, at least someone post me a clean (hard reseted) registery from a rom that works during call normally, and i will install it on my mobile (which doesn't type letters during call) if it works then at leaset we know its defenatly registry and there for i dedicate my life for it. any clean registry anyone can supply
PS am willing to Hard reset but not willing to reflash another rom am very tried from that business

If this drives you that nuts, then maybe you wouldn't mind doing a bit of investigation and sharing that with us?
Take a look at this registry key: HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartDialing\KeyboardMapping
There are some subkeys there, ToNum and ToSD. I'm guessing that those are responsible for the letter remapping. Would you mind taking a look and letting us know? Thanks!
Dialer/Dialer skine deppendent
It also could be that it is deppendent on dialer used in your system. Some dialers can switch keybaord to numbers and some can not. It would be nice if those who can write letters during a call could tell us which dialer is in their system.
Possible Path?
HKLM\Security\Phone\PhoneKeyMatch
Looks like this could be the ticket, will try to mess around with it and see if it makes any difference

Looking for android program similar to this

hi guys,
i'm having issues as i pull out the phone from my pocket, before i can see who is calling, i accidently touch the answerkey button on the screen. This can be very irritating, so i'm wondering if someone has an app that can:-
1. Either allow users to disable the answerkeys (touch screen only). One example here is the windows ANSWERKEYS DISABLER:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425650
Or
2. Create a new application for the android phones as many of us would like this option.
I eagerly look forward to your replies.
newbiefone
If the screen is locked, you have to slide down to answer. Not something you're likely to do accidently.
the screen is locked as to lock it, u have to press the CALL DECLINE KEY (on the most right) until it goes blank, but when someone rings and as i take out the phone from my pocket it either gets answered or the ringing goes on silent...
I simply want a hard key answer/decline phone and want to cancel any other touch buttons functions...surely if people say that android is so adaptable, there must be some software out there which can do such a function or maybe someone can create an app that allows you to disable certain touch functions?

well, this statement is not in any way less true by your problem. only problem is, so far you seem to be the only one having this problem, at least it is not important enough for somebody to write an app. android IS that open, just write an app that suits your needs...

Of course there are issues with accidental touch screen presses! Why has someone created an Answerkeys Disabler for the HTC Touch Diamond? The funny thing is that its been created actually in this forum and the responses went on for over 50 pages!!! have a look right here:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425650
So to say that there is no demand for such an app is a load of tosh...its just a matter of WHEN, not IF. All i want to know is if such an app exists for windows mobile

I think you mean android?
Didn't see such a program yet, but sure it's there. But coming from a diamond and owning a hero, I can see why the diamond would need it, and the Hero doesnt.
Diamond's hardware buttons are way larger, and don't stand out so you're pressing them easier than on the hero.
apologies stafflover. Yes that should have read "its just a matter of WHEN, not IF. All i want to know is if such an app exists for android as it does for windows mobile"
Still it would be great to have such option mate...who created that answerkey app for windows? was it someone on xda forum?

Request: autoclicker

Hey all,
i been following these forums for a while, now im lookin for an application that can basicly autoclick/record like a mouserecorder on the pc
my idea is basicly like this,
you have your application open, than press a key on your phone or 2 keys at the same time that starts the recorder when pressed again it stops and you are capable to run the saved record and or even loop it or run it a specific number of times
does this allready excist or is it easy for someone to make or a nice idea to do?
so after all this time, this app still doesnt excist?

I guess you are seeking what are called 'macros'. Closest on Android is Tasker. On rooted devices, it can simulate d-pad inputs.
I thought he meant something like this. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zausan.zscreenrecorder

[Help]Any way to change the function of hard key?

My phone after installed the android rom..all things run well...
but...only the power button works but not others...it may be due to different model of a Hong Kong Phone from Europe/ US phone...anyway to give the keys back functions that they should have? thanks
Go to Spare Parts, and change the power key to home.
You should search first... Thx. Also, post in the ROM/Build thread!! That way we know what you're using, instead of having to guess...
Yes, I searched, peoples using spare part as well... but I just seen End button behaviour only in Spare Parts...no other keys...so I wonder whether there is any other methods.?
sorry for making such thread

Oh, I thought you only wanted to change the end call key.
If you want to change around other buttons, you'll have to hack at the source. Depends on what you're running - on HaRET, you'd need to modify the keymaps in the rootfs. On NAND, I'm guessing the keymaps in /system/etc. Either way, this isn't something that's easily done nor recommended.
Maybe an app like this.

Well it does say, "As can be expected, the application requires complete root access, with a NAND unlocked device and complete, permanent write access to the system directory."
This is where you have to start to do a little research on your own.

[Q] [SUPPORT] Headphone Audio Controll issue

im sorry if im not explaining myself well i dont know the terms
ok heres my problem i have been on a hunt for a pair of headphones that will work with a samsung conquer 4g (sph-d600) and have media controlls
currently i have a pair of Sol republic Tracks V8 headphones and the media controls are messing up
when ever i press a button on the wire the voice dialer or call log comes up
my os is Android 2.3.6 gingerbread rooted with a custom rom i cant find
im trying to use poweramp
im attaching a logcat (its my first one so i hope its done right) and screenshots of my headset settings from dbpoweramp
anything i can do to fix this?
new development in post 6 http :// forum.xda-developers. com /showpost.php?p=38217123&postcount=6 (remove the 6 spaces in the url, im under 10 posts)
That's because Android doesn't recognize 3-Headset Buttons correctly due to some patents from Apple...
thanks for your reply
but it does recongnise all 3 buttons as key:231 (according to CWM recovery key test)
so in theory i should be able to assign this as a single button remote
or should i just return this product to the store
is there any way to get rid of the voice dialer
or use an app from the market to fix this issue
on a side note i used to know of a site or forum thread that gave descriptions of system software and weather or not they are safe to remove. would you or anyone else happen to know what that site or thread was?
Sorry but I dont get you...
If you mean wheter its theoretical possible to use a 3 Button Headset: YES
Have look here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Galaxy-Nexus-and-others-headset-remote-with-medi/
You also could try to develop an App on your own in combination with this Hardware Mod. Therefore change the resistor values and check them in cwm. Then route them over the standard Prev Play/pause and next function.....
But this is theoretical....
