[Q] New Dell Streak won't start - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought Dell Strike and used it for like 10 minutes and during the call it died. I plugged it into the mains to charge it but it won't start. Capacitive buttons are white now, but nothing else is going on. How can I start it?

[Q] My (hopefully) Dell Streak 5

I got my hands on a Dell Streak 5 that had been dropped. When I got it the damage was the screen, and the camera button, it still booted up and was recognized by a computer. So I ordered a new screen, middle frame, and buttons. When I was changing from one middle frame to another I tore the ribbon cable that leads to the power, volume, and camera button..... I know.. Anyway, after buying a replacement, and putting it all back together, I can power on the phone, but no display. The screen powers on, I can see the backlight, but no images shown for booting or any sounds.
Did I miss something simple?
Sincerely,
Fyrebaugh
You could try:
1. Boot in Recovery / Boot in FastBoot.
2. Check display connector, the inside one (plug out & plug in).
Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, it did not help, the first screen I got back in would go into fastboot, and I could do a screen calibration, however, anytime anything was supposed to be moving on the screen, such as during the calibration, nothing was displayed. On the boot up the Dell logo would be displayed, but when the screen reloaded and the animated Dell logo was supposed to be displayed nothing would be.
So I returned the screen, got a replacement and it was worse, no display at all.
Funny thing is each time I put in the old screen it would work as well as it could, but the digitizer and the screen were separating, so half the display was not there. I finally gave up and got a different phone, the Galaxy Note.

[q] help. Tablet charge light doesnt come on

ok so my daughter loves to play temple run on my tablet. she is 1 years old. dont ask lol. but she drained the hell out of my battery and it died. im guesing she tried to cut it back on and now the orange light doesnt come on when plug it into to the wall charger. also i tried to hold the power button for like 45 secs and see if i could turn it on while plugged up. but no action. any suggestions?
leave it charging overnight and hope it comes back. If it does not you will need to search out threads in general and q & a. There have been a couple who have managed to take the back cover off of their flyer and detached the battery to charge by alternative means.
ok thanks. if nothing works guess ill be calling sprint lmao

[Q] Please read: Need help on Dell streak 5 shutting down

Ok guys this is a weird one.. My dell streak 5 wont power up and when it does the side menu bars just lights up.. Sometimes the screen logo comes up and just freezes. I thought the unit is bricked I could not get in fast boot or recovery. Tried everything one morning i was able to and was able to restore the recovery and install the stock rom and booted up fine. During use, the menu bars flickers then after a few seconds the screen shuts down. Here is the weird part, i gave it a shot from what i read on some site. I place the unit in the freezer for about 30 minutes without the battery or memory card. After i removed it i placed the battery and mem card again and long and behold the unit powered up instantly and was able to use it for only 2 to 3 minutes until it started acting up again. So again i place it in the freezer just enough to make it cold and it worked again. The only way i can make it run is putting it in the freezer. Does anyone know what could be wrong or what part i need to replace? I already had it dismantled and every parts seems ok. please advise thanks.
I believe you have a hardware, not a firmware issue. It sounds like one of the components on the motherboard has failed, causing your issue. The components are wave soldered and tiny. Difficult at best to replace.
I had something similar on a streak I got off ebay 2weeks ago, power on and use for up to 15 mins and then rebooted into a never ending loop. I had to take the battery out for approx 10 mins and then it would boot up, but the same thing just happened again. I reflashed with DSC v1.0 and I have had no problems since.
I wondered if it was overheating or the battery, but notice in the notes for DSC there is a fix for a divide by 0 bug, do it may be that. I was running official 2.2.2 before flashing. I had a few problems rebooting into the Dell booting menu but finally got there.
It may be worth a go.

You know mine did the same thing about a year ago. One day my buttons flashed and it just turned off. Now it has never turned on since then. Any ideas?

[Q] Bricked Archos 101 G9

Hello,
A friend give me a bricked Archos 101 G9. It was bricked when he tried to update it. The tablet switched off when he was updating and right now it doest work.
When you press the power button the power led blink (green) for a second, and nothing more.
I tried to connect to a PC and nothing. Any idea?
Thanks a lot!!!
Can you see archos logo on the screen? If not, it might be totally bricked. First thing is to try to boot to recovery. This can be done by holding powerbutton and volume -, until you see white screen and some text. If you don't see anything, I can't help.
No, I cant see anything is TOTALLY BRICKED.
And It's Impossible to boot to recovery.
Thanks anyway!
Try charge the battery for 2-3 hours then try in recovery mode

Did you unplug everything? By that I main not only unplugging the charging cable, but also pull out any USB device(s) from the rear 3G USB port, also any microSD card, headphone, HDMI, etc.? I mean unplug EVERYTHING from every connector!
Then, press and hold the power button for over 10 seconds (I'd suggest holding for at least 20 seconds).
After doing the above... then plug in the Archos supplied USB cable, plug that into the Archos supplied charger, and then plug the charger into the wall power outlet. Notice I said "Archos supplied" USB cable and charger!
Do NOT do anything else, and do NOT mess around with pressing the power button or anything else!!!
If the device is working at all it should do one of the below:
1) If the battery is to low to start up the power LED may not light up at all, or it may blink quickly. If the screen does not light up and show the Archos logo at this point then just leave it sit until it gets enough charge to do so... and then leave it sit another 4 or 5 hours to completely charge.
2) If the power LED lights, but is not blinking, and the screen show the Archos logo and goes on through to a normal "lock" screen, then leave it alone until it is fully charged and the LED starts blinking.
[NOTE: The power LED blinks (although a bit differently) when the battery is to low, or when it it fully charged. Pretty stupid eh?]
3) The screen lights up and goes from the Archos logo right into the (white) Recovery screen with various options to fix things.
If it does this last one, then you should be able to get back to install firmware by connecting it to your computer. Of course, you have to have downloaded the Archos firmware .aos file with your computer first, and then copy it to the tablet.
If it does NOT do any of the above... well, then I guess you did totally brick it. Don't know how, but I do know that certain 101 G9's that installed the very early 4.0.24 firmware did get bricked by that "official" Archos firmware release. It was pulled from their servers as soon as they found out about it.
If you are still stuck in the last part of what I've mentioned... then the best thing to do is contact Archos and get an RMA to return you device for a replacement.
In all honesty, it's really pretty hard to brick an Archos G9 by accident unless there is something seriously with the device to start with.

[Q] Can't start or charge my S3 i9300

Hey, i am new to xda, so i don't really know if this is the right category for this thread.
I am running Slimbean: Slim-i9300-4.3.build.2-OFFICIAL-1322 (the newest stable version)
And i have dropped my phone several times, so my screen is broken and gone over the back button (it still works).
Anyways, i dropped today AGAIN out of my pocket, in a car, when i was about to shut the door, so the phone was smashed by the door. The screen didn't crack more then it already is, but it shut down, and now i cannot start it. I figured it was becouse it ran out of battery (i only had like 2-1% when this happened), so i plugged in my charger, and nothing happens.
Usually when i plug it in when the phone is dead, i get this grey battery icon on the screen wich freezes, but it works.
Now nothing happens, and when i try to start it, nothing happens except the little red motion sensor thing is blinking red once in like 5 secs.
Do i need to buy a new battery? Please help!
P.S. I know i'm not very good at english, but please help!

EDIT: When i plugged my charger in and let it charge for like 15 mins, the LED starts showing yellow (wich means it's 15%+ but not done charging).
And nothing happens when i tried to wake it up. But when i held the power button for like 3-4 secs, the yellow light disappears. It does not vibrate or anything that it use too.
