[REQ] White/Orange framework - XPERIA X8 Themes and Apps

As many of us are owners of the white version of the X8. Let's try to correct SE's mistakes in software design. The standard framework_res.apk was designed for the X10 series which almost have a black front panel. But the X8 is slightly different and mostly is offered totally white with some different battery covers. So I suggest to compile a black on white framework, with orange elements instead of blue ones. I've tried to solve this problem with a hue shift only but didn't reach the target. I think it should be a normal froyo framework with orange ements. Something like this. Hope for finding some collaborators. Thanks

this is a black/orange version for x10i
make a backup on your phone and try this.

Anyone... Tried this?

I tried this one . Well when I downloaded the file update.zip and installed it via xrecovery. I came across very strange home scrreen it was x10 homescreen I played around a bit .but it was too buggy it doesnot had the dialer app so I wasnt able to call anymore. I restored my phone and then extracted the package I downloaded update.zip and explored it a bit it had 2 folders meta-inf and system I opened system there app and framework folder . I copied the framework -res.apk file from there and changed it using reframe script. And wow I was good to go. I liked the theme colours and yes the transitions are awesome ... The only bug I found out that the four corner icons are cut a bit. But it is worth giving a try......

those I already know about. I meant the one that is a solid color for when installing something or downloading. you see it moving along. its a solid orange by default
That is controlled in the resource.arsc file. I haven't figured out how to edit it yet but the color is Def in that file, if I just switch that file only with one I got from an in credible. Theme, it changes

would you mind sharing this file? And where is it located? And if I copy the file over that you give, what else changes?
yea there is only one problem with using this file that I have come across so far and its kind of big. The text color on all buttons is white so it cant be seen. The file itself is located in the framework-res.apk. I was using a program called winmerge to go through and the whole file is completley different but I havent figured out how to edit it nor how to read exactly what is says. I just formatted my laptop and put Ubuntu on it so as of right now I cant get the file to you, You can either search for Indigo_Blue Theme for CM6 here on XDA or blackle(google). The theme is in all hdpi but still has some good looking pngs you can use in your theme. I have resized all of them as well for mdpi but for some reason I get errors when trying to apply them all. If you cant find it I will send it to you here in a little bit though. I have been doing alot of reading and messing my phone up trying to figure out the best way to theme. For one I want to take the spinner out of the nfl program and put it in my theme but Im a long way from that. If you like I can send you over my notes as I come up with more discoveries of what it controlled where and how to edit its defaults to what I want.

Gallery 3D.apk from x10i worked and black theme

yes it works you must have rooted your phone
i copied Gallery3D.apk from my x10i to my x10 mini pro on sdcard, with root eplorer copied into system/app ( sure you mount rw) and set permissions to 644 (user read-write,group read, others read)
and with adw launcher i put a shortcut on my screen
long press on screen, other short command, Select Activity, Activities, scroll to galerie and choose it, now you have a short cut for 3d gallery
download gallery3D.apk from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826849
better download GalleryFixedCamera.apk frome here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829571 thanks sanjay_bandaru
now you can launch the app fom app drawer on your homelauncher and you can launch camera directly
and look for a nice black theme, http://www.mobil-talk.de/android/6857-theme-mini-goes-black.html worked too, thanks to Bueffel
sry for bad english
I've been "reading" (I don't speak German) the black theme thread, but I don't know what files I have to download for my x10 mini (not pro) with android 2.1 (nordic firm).
Can anyone help me?
basically the last 2 added (which you could have imagined by name 2.0.xxxxx^^)
i think in order to change the most things framework does the job
to get fully black theme you'll need to change the apps as well.
change it as descrebed here in the forum section as any other theme as well
greets Mo
Great find on that black theme. Personally its better than the blue theme but just to black here and there for my liking. I find pulpoff and draco_ag's theme for the 1.6 (hopefully to be ported to 2.1) more pleaseing to the eye a tad greyer here and there. But i appreciate the work done

Anyway to get this working with the default launcher?
@ abhi98228 hmm for me all worked, no problem with market.
@iphonepimp what working with default launcher? 3d Gallery? Check the GalleryFixedCamera.apk on my first post, it worked.
I like the gallery... but there is one bug with the detailsbutton... it's to big (the button on top if you choose a image).
I copy a smaler picture from the apk over the big detailbutton to fix this, but can't resign the apk correctly. I attached my apk (you have to remove the old app, then install the new apk) and the smaler image. perhaps someone can correctly resing the apk with the image.
Thanks for the new apk. works well.
This is nice thanks a lot!

(Q) issues with photoshop & editing vibrant png's

Trying to modify some of my icons but having issues with photoshop on my computer. I copied the framework-res folder unzipped with winrar down to icons I wanted.
Now when ever I open a icon png the image comes out the wrong size. The photoshop some how resizes it to a shorter image. I jabe gone through all the settings in photoshop to no avail. I have even tried a couple theme apk's and I get the same result.
What setting am I missing here? Or am I doing something wrong?
**Edited to add more info

maybe try opening up a blank canvas larger than you need and then cropping it down. try opening something that is about 100px by 100px at 300dpi with a transparent background, then just drag and drop the icon file onto the canvas.
also, i've found that editing png's is sort of a pain in the ass in photoshop. i would suggest fireworks. photoshop is great for photos, but fireworks is much more handy for creating/editing small graphics. just my personal preference, though.
"GIMP" is also free and widely popular....dont know how ti compares to "Fireworks" though, ill have to try that out
Thanks I'll give them a try

Thanks bstromberg, the png's opened correctly. I haven't played with it much but like it will do the job.

[Request] Black task bar!

Already tired of the big white bar at the top. Anyone working on a nice black one?
i hope so too, love the gingerbread look from my nexus.
I worked on one all of yesterday evening/night (broke my ankle), and eventually got it to push without issue. After work this evening I'll be uploading it for Dev's or very knowledgeable users who know how to backup and adb recover to use.
Edit: The bar is a black/ grey gradient to still see the text. I haven't yet messed with xml's to try and change the text colors.
Here's Revision 1...AKA Tacky Edition
Please see this thread for my Gingerbread theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
thanks, can you post a screenshot of how it looks with the black/grey bar with the current icons?
since this is pretty much first steps of theming, maybe we can pull the icons off of gingerbread framework, those are all "optimized" for black status bar hehe.
Current screenshot is attached.
I will say that I've yet to push the new notification text colors (new services.jar), but will be testing that shortly with gingerbread icons.
I just got my hands on hdpi gingerbread icons, so I'll be testing during the day, and I'll upload it tonight (PST).
I'm planning on making a new topic and a shell script to run on the phone (or .bat on a pc) to make installation easier, and I've been messing with transparencies a bit as well, so expect a few different uploads.
Isn't the cutting edge fun?!
@synergye
How different would it be to push the file to the phone SDcard using USB mass storage and then use root explorer from the phone to move the file to the framework folder?
I tried this way and soft bricked! Don't know what I did wrong!
Any insight?
Are you deodexed? Something I forgot to put in the post above, which I believe is needed to push my deodexed framework file.
I recommend waiting until this evening(maybe sooner for my gingerbread notification bar and services.jar. Im also going to fix my instructions above to say deodexing required.

Nice! Once this has the white text im copying this over
The new theme now has a white clock, and some gingerbread thrown in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
any chance we can get the AT&T carrier logo removed as well? I love the black, but that weird gap would probably drive me neurotic after a bit.
I'm planning on removing it next, after adding notification transparency, and doing a bit more overall theming (thinking browser, etc).
Please note that I now have a topic open for this theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974112
thanks synergye!

[Q] Where is the mouse pointer icon located? I need to change it.

I just bought a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and when I connected the mouse I found that I couldn't find it when it was on a dark background and I would like to know what apk the picture file is in so I can swap it out for one that isn't black and blue on a black and blue themed rom.
I am on gb an the pointer jus shows up on connecting.

That isn't my problem just the color of the mouse is the same as the theme and I want to change it to a computer standard white with black edge so that it's easily viewable in contrast to the black background.
so change the theme....the pointer appears white thts it m8

I am not changing the whole theme I just want to replace the mouse with stock since it was themed by the rom maker.
All I am asking is for the location of the image file, something like
some.apk/res/drawable...
and maybe a way to make it bigger but that isn't as important.

The rom maker may know where your mouse is ???
jje
Woohoo I finally found it by extracting the couple main system apks I knew of and manually looking at every image in the res directory until I found it.
For reference it was framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/pointer_arrow.png
Now could someone please do me a favor since I am on vacation and using a very crappy free WiFi that is slow and bad signal to the point of cutting in and out every few seconds.
Could someone attach just that file or the framework-res.apk that has the stock white mouse pointer since I can't download a full rom to extract it myself.
Edit: ignore my request I just realized that is what Gimp is for and edited it myself.
