Can someone point me in the right direction, I tried and failed miserable at making something this nice.
If you have made something like this, or have pics that would work, please share

Well, I tried and failed.. if someone comes across this, please PM me if you have some nice icons that will fill a page as if it were a wallpaper (like the link in the OP).

If you use adw ex you can choose no icons in the ui main dock settings , put icons on the hidden dock so you can at least open your app launcher .when you remove the icons from the main dock ,you can then place widgets where the icons would have been. then use desktop visualizer icons/widgets to completely cover the home screen. Then put the "regular" icons on the hidden dock you can swype them up/down ,they will appear over the desktop visualizer icons ,and will work.( incase you dont want the empty looking dock option )you could put your launcher and like for or five icons there (on the hidden dock), the only problem I'm having is finding images that will look good as desktop visualizer icons

Which dock? the right-facing or the centered one?
Here's a right-facing one with your requested icons.

Great Dock!!!
PERFECT!!! Thanks!!! I forgot to mention which orientation, but wanted it just as you made it, hehe.
Had a thought
Can you do "half-height" icons above the ones already there, in place of the colored rectangles, that would correspond to that apps swipe gesture action.
Maybe do one centered with the longer top section like the right facing, android in the middle, and
"Contacts", "Camera", (Android centered on top bar like centered dock), "Root Explorer", "Maps"
This are awesome work how do i apply this
Great docks man. As soon as i saw this i had a vision for a theme lol. thanks again!
hey ardchoille I saw someone mention that you cooked up a bunch of Philadelphia Flyers docks. Still have those around by chance?
nice
Ok not a big artist but I like the way my phone looks

No, sorry, I'm accepting donations for customizing the embedded graydience dock background so I'm not able to share the template.
Anyone desiring custom artwork should read this thread.

[Q] Icons too far apart?

Hi everyone,
Anyone else think the icons on the screen are too far apart?
Do any of the ROMs/MODs address this problem/issue?
Use LauncherPro, you can set how many apps/icons you have by the column and by the row. I think ADW does this as well..
Edit: I have mine set to 8 rows & 5 columns, no labels.

Move icons closer together!
Seriously...........I use ADW EX............have columns set to 5 and rows set to 7. You can also scale your icons and icon text with ADW.
Image below will illustrate the distance between icons. I have found if I tighten up the grid anymore, especially in columns, they get too close together.

Sick wallpaper! Will you share?
use Go Launcher EX, it's free and has most of the features of LP+ (widget resizing being the biggest)
Regina Launcher also does the trick, plus it has a nice 3D look

App Request: Status Bar application launcher

Hey everyone, kinda new here (although not so much to the world of smartphones and computers and all that jazz) and I'm looking for an app to provide a certain function.
I'll explain in words real quick what I'm looking for, and I posted some pics to make it easier.
I'd like an app that adds a softkey to the status bar, much like the home/back/menu buttons that I have in CM7 in the status bar (see img 1, and how it changes in img 2). I'd like to be able to click that soft button, and have a popup of some user-defined apps. I know that I can put icons on the home screen and just push the home button, but I really think this would be a cool app and would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the direction of an app like it or could make one (I do some minor java programming on BlackBerry, but nothing this complex and with my baby and internship I don't have time to figure out how to make this).
I'd definitely be willing to pay for this, so if any devs read this I'm not just looking for a freebee. Althoug, of course, free is always nice
Either way, loving the XDA forums, and need to get my post count up there so I can post in the technical threads lol.

What I imagine the softkey might look like once it's added:
One way the app popup might look:
I don;t care about the look that I made in those images as I do about the general idea.
Thanks in advance
Shane
i dont think thats probable from what i know about the android os.
Smart bar allows you to set 'favorite apps'. Good luck!
PS On appbrain it says that the latest version does not work well on froyo; I don't know about gingerbread (I have not used smart bar for a long time).
Thanks case-sensitive!
That's not exactly what I was looking for, but its good enough and will certainly do the trick

MIUI Style-TencentDesktop- works perfect on Wildfire

Hi all,
I have found the MIUI style launcher , translated from Chinese to English,
tested it on HTC wildfire and it works perfect, tested on CM 7.0.3
except some Chinese words which appear some times in some apps and widgets.
it has themes and wallpapers that you can download online

yeah it comes with an icon pack, but the launcher sucks, it is smooth and all but icons are all over each other lol, its just messy, i tried changing the dpi from 120 to 110 to maybe make it better, nah the app just force closes, so, app looks like crap. its nice if you got a bigger resolution screen tho.
don't change the main theme and it will fit for wildfire screen
or look for themes with square icons.
other themes ( with round icons) icons go over each other.

Tablet-Style Scroll Outlines?

I can't seem to find a good screenshot of it (and the only person I know with a tablet's sleeping, so I'll post one tomorrow if I get the chance), but in Honeycomb and the tablet version of ICS, when you scroll on your current home screen to another screen you can see light-blue glowy outlines for the icons on the screen you're scrolling to.
Is it possible to replicate that effect in ICS for a phone? Would that have to be something done at the homescreen level, or something deeper? The Android tablets always had my attention with this effect.
Thankies! =]
Apex launcher, free in market, lets you have that animation. It is like ICS stock launcher with a lot more options. Choose trasition effect as tablet from Apex home screen settings.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I suggest you maybe contact the APEX launcher guys (Android Does) and see if that is even possible. I like it too and think it would be cool on the phone level.
Wow, you guys replied quickly... Thank you both. =D

It sort of does; it has the outline of the homescreen that moves around, which looks kinda' cool. However, it's still missing the part where the icons and widgets get that same outline treatment and then as they move in, slowly become visible.

Will do; I just wish Apex Launcher would let me move my homescreens around when I'm in the preview mode. xD It's the one thing I preferred Nova Launcher for, but Apex has improved lots since when I first used it (when it first came out).
Landscape mode?
