Linda is always talking to me - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so i'm not sure what setting I turned on but whenever I'm on the phone and someone calls linda starts chatting my ear off with the callers number and name and all that jazz. I' ve messed with just about every setting I can think of and looked all over. If anybody has any ideas I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks

that's not linda talking to you its those voices inside your head they have returned

Oh if only it were that easy

I think I forgot to mention it will read the text messages too. I' ve looked in Assesability settings and nothing yet.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

It is an app you downloaded. I had to turn that crap off too. She never shuts up. Go to accessablity or something in your settings.

Thanks that's what I thought. I hope I can narrow it down she's driving me friggin nuts.

Not sure if that is it but I recently started to use vlingo. I have to go to running services just to kill it. Kind of annoying.

I'm new here but just thought i would give some advice because i had the same issue with my text to speech. Go into settings under voice input/output, text to speech see if driving mode is checked. If so all you have to do is uncheck it

yeh then its probably vlingo. just open it up and there's an option to read everything or stay silent.

I don't have vlingo but I just uninstalled all of my unessary navigation software (except stock nav) and see if it's something caught up in there. If not I'll just use titanium backup to reinstall them. If it does take care of it them I'll just reinstall them one by one.

And I did look at driving mode nothing was checked so I'm going to see if unistalling oruxo maps helps. If not then I think I'll try checking it rebooting then unchecking it see if that works.

Settings > Voice input and output > Text-to-speech settings > Driving mode?

Yeah the driving mode was unchecked so I'm going with an app somewhere, but haven't gotten two phone calls our a text while I'm on the phone since I posted
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

Go 2 settings....then voice inout/output make sure all the way on bottom piko isnt checked snd make sure that near top no other boxes are checked....happened to me as well. I think it when I downloaded text to speech for google maps
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

Ok so it wasn't the nav apps. I have gone to voice/default engines and when I uncheck Pico it just closes the window when I reopen it it shows pico is still enabled

Pico text was the answer thanks guys

[Q] Block the "Call Rejected" pop-up

Is there a way that I can get rid of the pop-up that shows every time that someone on my Auto Reject list calls me? Its really bothersome, and if they keep calling it wakes your phone each time and can drain the battery PDQ. BTW, I'm talking about the built in auto reject in settings. Thanks in advance to any and everyone that may have some advice or insight.

+1 on the question, it is exremely annoying when this pops up, would be perfect if any of the vibrant experts can solve this issue. Would make the phone experience that much more pleasant!

Anyone figure something out yet or an app for that matter?
I never tried any since GS2 doesn't have a pop up.

How do I answer calls using my headphones?

I was wondering if anyone knew a way to answer calls using my headphones with the mic and the little call button. I run with my thunderbolt and I like just being able to press the little button to answer calls, but I haven't been able to do it on my thunderbolt. It worked on my droid 1 once I got froyo and it worked on my samsung fascinate, but I haven't been able to get it to work on my thunderbolt. Does anyone know if there is hack to be able to do this or maybe I am missing something simple in the menu options. Anyway if anyone know a way to do this, that would be great. Thanks again for all of your help in the past and all the help I am sure I will need in the future.
I also had the Droid 1 and it worked for me on Gingerbread. Now i have the thunderbolt and it didn't work on Froyo and it still doesn't work on Gingerbread. This is a feature i really liked and hope to see it on my TBolt
I would LOVE to have this work. Every wired headset I get disintegrates in a matter of weeks. I've heard this is supposed to work, but never heard a solution.
Some headsets work for me and some dont. Weird.

Allow me to be the first to show your thanks button some love. This worked for me. I recently purchased a pair of Monster beats that I boxed up to return because the mic button worked to skip tracks but not answer calls, but these same heaphones work great on my buddy's EVO. The headphones stay, just wish they weren't the Lebron James beats , Knicks fan all the way

No on the first EVO wasn't the whole thing controlled by the main one under sound? Maybe not but whatever tis funny

Is anyone else having keyboard issues after the update?

Hello everyone! I upgraded to ICS today, and noticed that the notification to chose a keyboard keeps popping up. It also says that Google Voice is chosen when I've disabled it. Can anyone help me with this? I really appreciate it!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
After the ics update you will have to press the imput method to change the keyboards you want to use. That's normal ;-)
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Thank you for replying! I chose the Android keyboard, and the prompt to choose a keyboard still pops up. I tried restarting and rebooting my phone and nothing is making this notification go away. As you can see in the pic I attached, the only option it will check off when I touch it is Google Voice. It's making me nuts.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
It's always there.
So the notification to choose a keyboard will always pop up when I go to type?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
We all have that same screen with google voice so don't drive yourself to nuts over that. Its the default keyboard that needs to be set which it looks like you did so I'm not sure why it keeps prompting you to choose.
Edit: I notice you have google voice unchecked. Recheck it, set default keyboard to whatever you want and report back
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Okay, I did what you suggested and have included screen caps. For some reason the notification to choose the keyboard isn't going away. I can ignore it if it's not a fixable problem, I'm just a little OCD about my notifications being cleared.

Reflash the ROM bud
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Can you please tell me how to do that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
It will always be up there with a keyboard open.
Cm9 has an option to turn off that notification, otherwise it'll be there.
If you wanna reflash...Just do exactly what you did in the first place...
I don't think he flashed a ROM before if he got the ota . There is a tutorial stickied in the general page as to going about flashing and rooting

Does anyone know how to disable it from showing up on the Widget Locker lockscreen? I'm trying to have it so that I have to unlock the phone to see the pop up, but it's not working for me. I put com.ninja.sms in the disable popups thing but it still pops up.
Bought it. It force closes after minimal use on our device. Stock sense 4.

Very odd. I've given it a good 2 hours of total texting use since yesterday on a Sense 5 ROM with no force closing at all. Try re-installing it?

Trying out this app one thing I don't get is how do I send messages? And is there away to see all my messages using ninja app? Or is this app only a quick text reply app.
Edit: so I guess it's just a quick reply app.

Why pay for this when it does the same thing as facebook messenger . .? Or does it do anything that the chat heads doesn't do bc I can watch YouTube or be on xda and when someone txt me I can't reply quickly to that person or multiple people

This was available before chat heads was so that's part of it.
Also chat heads has seemed laggy to me when typing multiple messages where I don't have that issue with this.

This is a pretty neat app. I think it's pretty useful I like the pop ups. Works with Verizon messaging app and obviously stock. They really should come out with a full message app.

Best SMS app I've tried.
I'm very picky with sms apps as I don't like the idea of sharing my my sweet nothings with someone else's server (paranoia alert!) but, this app does what I want without that fear. I like the idea of picking who it alerts to and that I can keep my chats minimised while doing other things. I use sms flash and this app works really well with it as I use that app to alert me for pin codes and everyone else (because I don't use the reply feature) and Ninja for the important peeps. Cheers Dev!

It doesn't popup on lockscreen though. I find that a must have feature that gosms has. I would also like to initiate a conversation on it and you can't.
