Unfortunately I have, it was the first one I tried. Thanks

hmm.. i just remember something
the Flash in this phone is a REAL Xenon flash, it's not just a LED light like the other phones
so i don't think any app will make it work at all
even if it does, it will just be a pop of light ever few sec
as it needs to charge up then pop the xenon
see http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/X...ervices/Mobile-Phones/ci.MOTO-XT720-XW-EN.alt

Thanks for the useful info!!! Sucks it has to be that way!

don't give up yet
maybe try to find a similar nokia app that reaperzero was talking about
personally i've not seen it

Nokia X6 have led flash , not xenon flash...

I can only imagine that even if the xenon flash did have the physical capability to stay on to be used as a flash light, that the battery would be dead in 10 seconds because of the power needed.
There are several free apps on the market that make the screen show a full white image. That's the best you're going to get with our devices.
Sent from my computer. I'm not cool enough to use the app.

True.
A xenon needs to power up first, aided by a capacitor, then just blast the light. It can't retain the light for long. Imagine, the brightness of the xenon can fill a whole room.
As for reaperzero's X6, if you mean this
Code:
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_x6-2922.php
It doesn't have xenon flash.
Just for sharing, I use "Color Flashlight", it's a good app.

Lol mistake on my part. Haven't had that old piece of junk for awhile. Forgot that its just leds

If we ever will have a flashlight app, someone needs to write it especially for the XT720, and make it access the focus assist led. Sure, it's red, but check by yourself how bright it actually is in a dark room!
+1 on the app Color flashlight, very bright using the screen, and has other functions too, I've had lots of laughs with the "word scroller" having profanity words blinking or scrolling on the screen...

Actually, I dig the idea of a red flashlight.
Who says it needs to be white? I would definitely use a red flashlight.

i agree with the idea too
maybe we can get some DEV interested on this

Right! It's bright, it's red, let's ask some dev to use it as a flashlight
I agree too

Wow, you mean I actually had a good idea?
So, I have no idea how to develop an app, but I think it would be closely related to the camera functions, are we talking about Continius autofocus maybe?
How does one go about to ask/request an dev to build such an app?

Alright, since people obviously want to put their own ideas out there for this, and since I feel dexter shouldn't be bugged right now, I've decided to open this thread as an idea list, just for suggestion, and depending on how well dexters success is with this phone, maybe we can cook up something good.

Insert the possibility to use flash in camera mode and a pocket torch app will be great.

Anyway to use the touch buttons as a LED notifier?

Is it possible to use the touch buttons as an LED notifier for missed calls, email, and SMS? Sure they cant change colors but at least it could blink every X seconds/minutes.
You do Realize this has been asked before.. I sent Jac a thread that has this working on the I9000.. Not sure if he's still looking into it or not though.
its already done for Captivate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780732
Whats included:
-Correct Screen auto-rotate
-HSUPA support
-MobileAP support (aka wireless tethering)
-Selecting with power button in recovery mode
-External SD card support
-Postboot scripts

I tried and got bricked... so if someone can make this for Vibrant i will be happy.
I use the app noLED. Works pretty well. Found it in the market.

I personally don't care for that app. It's okay idea, but what really needs to get done is samsung to implement the Notifications into the buttons. I've seen what the i9000 has done, it's not too bad. This has been posted many times, you might want to try the search button

Ive been using that but its questionable how it affects battery life and long-term effects on the screen life.
noLED is a decent alternative imo
When I used to noLED I would press the volume buttons and it would give me the volume sound and light up the screen but still on black. So I predicted it would kill my battery quicker.

NoLED is a PITA...it adds another layer of lockscreens/button-touches to get your notifications, thus I didn't care for it much. It also FC'd on me all the time...YMMV.
Someone will most likely get the button led flash to work one day, just be patient.
Flash notify in the market place will suffice for now and it actually works pretty good
surprised this hasn't already been implemented for the vibrant. if it's already done on the captivate isn't it just a matter of time for someone to port the code over?
Reason it hasn't been implemented got the vibrant its because your talking a whole new kernel build... Along with that the current implementations of it, from what I read prior, aren't too fond of battery life and they can't make it blink like a led would do. The buttons backlight just stays on. I don't know if that has changed any time recently but thats what it was like the previous time I looked it up.

hmm I never had a issue with it nor any extra battery drain. Is it the best coolest app nope. But it works for notifications
Samsung fixed this probably purposely overlooked notification problem with galaxy S phones with a whole new galaxy S, the Continuum

That phone is the ugliest excuse for a phone, add a damn led... Its that simple, why decrease the main screen size for a very sub par mini screen that looks like trash.

Yeah that things not looking so hot for me either. Lol
The best alternative IMO is Flash Notify. Been using it for a long time with no issues. Really wanted the soft keys to light up for notifications but I don't find that necessary anymore.

[APP]LightXT

Alright guys here it is. LightXT its pretty self explanatory. This does require you to be rooted. This is V.1 so there might be bugs but I haven't found any so you should be fine. This has only been tested on US XT720 running Khalpowers miui themed V3 but technically it should work on all models of this phone with the auto focus led.
Disclaimer: I am not held responsible for any harm this app may cause your phone or your LED light.
If you like this App please dont forget to hit the thanks button.
*****THIS APP DOES NOT TURN YOUR XENON FLASH ON IT TURNS ON YOUR AUTO FOCUS LIGHT***** sorry for the confusion
First!!!
Works great but i found a bug.
If you turn on the light and then rotate the screen you have to click 2 times to turn it off again...
But still awesome thanks!!!!
thanks. is the light supposed to be red? that's all Im getting
Yes its our auto focus light. Our actual flash is xenon which requires a charge to flash that's why no other flashlight app works so we created this one specific to our phone.
its amazing, thx! =))
this is amazing! thank you... thank you... thank you...
Thanks alot man! My buddy has been dying for this app and it works great. Any plans for a widget??
Just thought of something.
Could this somehow be integrated into say Khal's rom and set for use on media key?
That would be sick, probably just wishful thinking though.
I hear a cry off in the distance....

I'm trying to convince him into making us a widget it shouldn't be a problem. And there will be a version with the rotate bug fixed uploaded soon. Can't give an exact time but ill update the first post when its in my hands.
Just Great...this can help me...Thanks
until a build in widget is added, the next best thing as a work around is to use

yup thats the only one that turns on our flash is a xenox so we can not just turn it on and off. thats why when you download a led flashlight app from the market ie. droidlight it does nothing. the apps are looking in the wrong place for the led to turn on and thats why we made this app ts made only for our phone and all other variants of this phone.
i feel like i wrote that before.

BLN control for my atrix?

Was wondering if I could get a mod similar to this that would allow me to use my soft key lights for notifications.

Perdon me but I have to ask why do you want this implemented?
The SGS does not have a dedicated notification led but the Atrix does have one and works really well. Specially when used with Light Flow app.
Cheers!

I could honestly see why somebody would still want this.
I became too used to leaving my phone on my desk (say for instance I wanted to leave it on the charger) and easily see if I have a message across the room if I became tied up with something else.
IMHO I'm a bigger fan of BLN, than any other notification light that I've ever used on ANY phone.
With that said, no dev is probably gonna waste time porting it over with a default LED already on board...

Xperia Z2 Torch

The back LED of the camera can be used as a torch, but it does not seem to be quite bright. Is there any method (probably with root) to amplify the lightstrength known yet?
Have you tried the Nexus or CyanogenMod Torch ?

No, I haven't tried any of them because I don't own the Z2 yet. The Torch-Function is quite important for me and I would hesitate buying it If there was no solution. I would be very pleased If any owner could try them and report about the results!

There is a torch app for Z2 somewhere in xda. However note that Z2's LED is rather weak when compared to others. I can say that it's only half as bright as the Samsung S2

Why don't you just pick up a Fenix LD 01 and stick it on your key chain ?
if i had to walk on a dark road there is no way a mobile would suffice.
This thread is not about persuading me of the uselessness of a smartphone torch, it's about possibilities to avoid sony's restrictions which darken the foto-led when used as a torch. When taking fotos, its much brighter, so it's rather a soft- than a hardware problem!
See, its the underlined bit that i don't get...

Of all the reasons to come up with not to buy a Z2. Seriously is that it. Why ?
If i was looking for a torch and it was 'important' then i'd look for something fit for purpose as in a 'real' torch.
Good luck
Sony's LEDs are quite a bit weaker than those used by other manufacturers. I have never seen any software that even promised to amplify a phone's LED flash, and probably for good reason - the LED may survive repeated short high-intensity bursts but may burn out quickly if used at maximum intensity for an uninterrupted minute.
If the performance of a phone's LED torch is, for whatever reason, one of your priorities, you might be happier with a Samsung. Their LEDs are much more powerful.

Notification LED in Poco X2

Guys, i think there is a notification LED present in Poco X2, on far right side of the earpiece, albeit a tiny one.
Check for yourself, by punching this code in dialer and see options 5,6 and 7: *#*#7664#*#*
Maybe some cool developer can make a mod or something to make use of it. It'd be really useful for charging at least.
Yes, it is there .

wow NICE, at least it has one.
Wow that's awesome. I wonder why they didn't use it in the first place
It's not a fully fledged notification led, it's just a mono led used in testing and other stuff
It is little to no use since it will have just one light and there is a reason why they they never mentioned it
But it would be cool if it could be used.

Xiaomi in last 2 years of their devices always used mono color notification led just search you will find everywhere. So its the same thing, but why they didnt mention it is really interesting. You dont put a damn led to test stuff on a phone, there is no logic in that, you cant name a device even in android 2.x era that had a led as test purpose.
Lets be happy that we can use it in custom roms now.Thats a good addition when you use lcd phone which results in not being able to use AOD.
I have been using a Redmi 4 (Santoni) since its initial launch in 2017. It has a RGB LED but in the last three years i didnt get any ofiicial ROM update that Used the LED in RGB mode it's been stuck with that boring white LED for everything. After unlocking the BL and flashing TWRP Recovery the first thing i tried was to test the LED capability. And voila it's really is a RGB LED. Then i tried to use the LED in stock ROM but didnt work then I tried different Custom ROMs and all of them used the RGB LED properly. So Xiaomi clearly ignored the LED for Global ROMs. I never tried the China ROM but i read somewhere that in China ROM the LED works fine.
I recently bought POCO X2 and i didn't see any LED is there atleast in the Featurelist. But after searching for some references i found out that its disable by POCO (Xiaomi). In Redmi 4 RGB was disabled in case of POCO X2 the LED itself is Disabled. Really pathetic.
I dont think any Future ROM update will use the LED for anything. It will lay there waiting for us to switch to Custom ROM or Customize our Stock ROM to use the LED.
