LG P500 Clock Problem - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hello,
First of all i want to apologize for my bad English is not my native language but I'll try to explain as best as i can.
Well i just found out my clock (time not processor clock) goes faster. No ideea if is only my phone or is a firmware problem. In like 2 days i get 1 minute + to time with or without network synchronization.
I set my time let's say today from my computer at second precision and in 2 days i get +1 minute at least on my lg device.
I use v10n firmware not to many installed applications (I am sure applications have nothing to do with my problem) and if u guys need more information let me know, I'll be around.
Anyone have same problem?
Someone shod make this stiky since untill now every single LG P500 have this clock problem.

Yes.
I have to adjust the time on my phone every few days, because it goes faster like you said, around one minute every 2 or 3 days. I'm on v10b or whatever firmware version is void #alpha based on.
I think we can say this phone "is ahead of its time".

Kudos to you guys for noticing this xD Never new this problem existed or something, since I have mine automatically synchronize once I connect to the net.
I'm on a different ROM, so that may also be a reason why I don't see it.

I have same problem (but only about 10 or 20 sec during 3-5 days). I solve this with help of app called ClockSync with auto synchronization enabled.

Yep this is annoying relay i think i will write LG support for this. Tbh never meet someone with P500 not to have this problem.
And one more thing any application to sync clock witch doesn't require root?

Some operators provides sync service via their GSM network.
Anyway I didn't find sync app which can synch time without root.

It happens to me too. The clock adds 20-30 secs every 3-4 days. Very annoying since I can't count on the clock. I can point you similar problem - the GPS. After I use it 4-5 times it doesn't locate me anymore 'till I reboot the phone. After reboot I localises me immediately.

I have the problem too. But my phone is just "in company"- I have many devices with bad "real" time clocks. My opinion: the 32.768kHz clock crystals nowadays are totally crap
But if I tell android to sync automatically it does not sync at all although the first time I "fired the phone up" it worked...
I turned on autosync - it does not help.

Because Noejn had done some tweaks with GPS in his void. You can ask him what he done and if it was "your problem" related. I'm using void and I have no problem with it.

Hero on Rogers Canada

I recently purchased my HTC Hero from a local retailer. (I am in Canada)
My problem is with SMS messages. My messages appear in the conversation with the correct time. All my received sms messages are 4 hours behind the actual received time.
Rogers releases a specific fix for the HTC Magic and Dream (Hero is not supported here and I doubt Rogers will make a patch just for me)
I had the same problem with my Xperia X1, that was solved with a quick registry edit.
Any ideas of what I should do?
I assume that your time stamp is 4 hours behind, i had the same problem. just set your time zone to however far behind you need your time stamp to be
Hi, i am having the same problem as you. I am in Canada too
So here are some solutions (not perfect solutions)
you can EITHER install my modified version of smsfixtimes, it will fix the time stamp when you receive messages. Details about the app can be found on the project page http://code.google.com/p/smsfixtimes/ (the original version posted by the author does not work on hero)
problem with this app:
1)the time showed in notifications is not corrected
2)maybe interfere with wifi connection, sometimes you get connection error in Android Market, not sure if the app is really causing the problem
OR if having correct time stamps is not crucial to you, install chompSMS as a workaround, it have a correct threaded view even the time stamps are wrong

Thanks but I actually use my phone as a time piece. Not worth having a messed up time to make my txt messages appear to be correct.
I HATE ROGERS
man this is so frustrating. If it's not the radio signals that need to be changed its registry hacks to make their faulty hardware work proper.
I tried the SMSfix. Doesnt work fer **** on my phone. Fixed all messages and it did nothing.

did you try the one i attached or the one found on market? coz it's working fine on my hero
It isn't working on mine either.
I tried the one you attached. It worked, well sort of. I am now only 2 hours out, instead of 4. So slightly better but definitely not fixed
it's quite simply really
You set your timezone to however far behind your clock is and then you manually manage your time so make sure that automatic isnt ticked off then you just set the time to whatever you want it to be. works for me

my god Tangzq, thank you SO much! That app worked perfectly for me!

Worked for about 10 minutes, randomly "unfixed" itself. Times are now off.

Stock messenger issue

Since updating to 2.1 I've had a few issues with the stock messenger.....a few times I've had send failed messages, then the recipient got the same text several times (lol) and lately I haven't been getting any notification of new texts until I actually open the messenger.
Is there something I can do to resolve this???
btw, I've looked for the stock 2.1 messenger apk around here, but I can't find it....can someone please provide me with a link

Are you AT&T? If so, I had the same problem, especially with long text and MMS sending pics. I believe it was a problem within the APN. I don't know exactly how, but now I have 2 APN'S and the problem seems to be solved. I have MEdia Net and MEdia Net MMS, which is the AT&T brand name for their browser/network. I have tested the every APN setting posted in the forums, and they are the only ones that deliver large pics and 4page texts consistantly. If you need the settings, post here.

yeah, I am using AT&T....that is actually part of my issue, and the other part is that the notification doesn't show up sometimes until I actually open the messenger.
I've downloaded handcent, and re-installed conversations.apk (the 2.1 messenger) just in case, and so far so good, but I haven't tried a really long text or large pic yet...I'll do that and see what happens

We have discussed the task killer apps extensively here. And the consensus seems to be that they actually cause more harm than good.

Agreed if you just installed and use default settings, but if you take the time to hand set it up, it is a really useful app. Especially kill when screen off saves battery and data. I find I still have 30% battery on day 2 without charging. Without it my battery last 1 day max. If task killer effects an app/phone performance, then set it to ignore. No reason not to use it at all. Without it most apps with permissions would run continuously.

My battery is at 62% after more than 48 hours since unplugging it. I am an average user as I browse, text, calls...etc very frequently. I do not use ATK or juice defender anymore as I did not find any difference.

I probably use my phone a lot more than the average person. I run my own business with my phone when I am out of the office, not to mention my new addiction to the xda app.
I check my ATK frequently because every day is a balancing act of battery vs usage. After using my browser for 30 minutes, I can't believe how many of my installed apps are running for no reason...the list is 2 screens long sometimes.
Without ATK I wouldn't have any way to free up my system?? Are you saying apps running in background or when screen off is better than using ATK?? Hard for me to believe, but you haven't mislead me yet, Batman. I'll give it a try and report back.

Even if you see a long list of apps, sometimes it is not the whole app that is running but only part of it for a while to do a certain task. Android then terminates them when they are idle for a period of time. I also have my brightness set on the lowest setting and only switch on WiFi/3G when I use them. You can download toggle widgets (e.g. APNdroid) from the market to make it easier to toggle these settings.
Also, if you have weak 3G coverage in your area, then that also drains the battery as the phone is constantly searching for the 3G network. Therefore, sometimes I switch my network mode to only 2G (or GSM only) networks rather than GSM/WCDMA preferred.
In conclusion, there are many factors that contribute to how fast your battery is drained, and apps running in the background is certainly one of them but, definitely not the only reason.
Let us know how it goes

Back in topic.. did you resolve your messaging problems? If so, what was your solution? I'm interested in hearing if you tried pics or long messages yet too?

My solution is handcent It's much better for me than the stock app. The stock app is working, though. I tried mms & sms....both are fine. I found the custom vibrate feature in handcent and now I can actually feel it vibrate when I get a text because it stays on for a full second!!!
Did you uninstall stock app? I'm still trying to figure out why I seem to be the only one who has 2 APNs? It reverts back even if I change it, but it works.

I'm GMT -7, and my time never is different - I guess my WinMo ROM or service provider is updating the time...? That seems like the best solution. If you have cell service on the device, just make sure that the device receives time from your provider...
For me, this 'just works' - I didn't have to setup anything. I don't know why some do and others don't... but that's the solution. There's probably some atomic clock app for WinMo as well, but this really is a WinMo issue... and you're posting in the Android development section .
Thanks for your infomation, and i think i should try some rom from energy or jackos.

There is a good, free time sync app, here.
You can configure it to run at startup by creating the shortcut (using total commander) in the \Windows\Startup directory with the command line option "/silent"
For me setting the time-zone to GTM +0 (Casablanca) in android works. (with auto detect time via internet selected off).

Yup. Some WinMo ROMs autoupdate the time, some don't. EnergyROM doesn't seem to do so, making it update from network requires going through a bunch of menu items. It's a real pain...

I've used EnergyROM ever since I got the TP2, always updated for me... Never changed any settings from the default - I've also flashed many different versions of Energy. Before I preferred the look/feel of Sense, but anymore I just use WinMo to boot Android, so I went back to Titanium .

Tha'd be odd. It seems GSM users have reported this issue MUCH more frequently than CDMA users - so perhaps that is the key...

Actually, it's probably always correct - if you assume it's GMT and not local.
My winmo is always right, to the second. I assumed it polled the carrier the same way some of my dumbphones have in the past.
The only time its ever been off was when I used a time sync tool in android to correct that clock. For a few minutes after booting back into winmo, that clock was off before it polled again and righted itself. Since I rely on my winmo clock and only play in android for now, I tolerate the android clock being off and no longer try to sync the time, though other than getting a sync tool from the market, I've never really tried to fix it. Might just be some normal android setting change is necessary.

It's a kernel bug actually... WisTilt2's 4/15 kernel doesn't exhibit the drift - or at least it's significantly less. Not sure what is holding it up from the autobuild, probably some piece of the patch that the repo maintainers don't like .
His patch removes some locks from the kernel message logger. Frankly, the fact that it works tells me we've got too much code spewing out debug messages while inside interrupt handlers. It's crap. You throw debug messages in while you're trying to figure something out. Once you have it working, turn them off.
The fact that these things are being left behind all over the kernel source is a pretty bad sign - either the developers got sloppy and never cleaned up after they got something working, or they just never got it working and moved on anyway.

A little from column A... a little from column B...
I would agree .27 is a mess. I think that's why most of the kernel devs are looking to .3x to save us, instead of trying to fix the mess that .27 has become...
Back to the orginal topic... (kernal tangent was interesting )
Network time sync does not run automatically on all networks (GSM). Seems like a hit or miss... yes, you CDMA folks finally have an advantage!
For those using Energy ROM, just extract the attached file (link) to your \windows\startup folder and it will run the 'get carrier time' script at each boot back to WinMo. Or... you can use TotalCommander, locate t.mscr in windows and create a shortcut yourself and drop it in the startup folder.
For most people direct linking to t.mscr or t.exe will cause a pb.exe error. JVH3 has put together a cab that seems to work around this issue it can be found linked to this post.
Pretty sure this whole discussion is off topic to "android development" while kernel discussion is very relevant. So do we stay on topic with the forum section or with the post? Paradoxical.

Battery not lasting more than 2 hours

Hey guys, im kinda new to android but im not new to computers... so please dont say stuff like turn off wifi or turn off bluetooth and gps
I have disabled S Voice, S planner, And most of the crappy samsung stuff. I have only 2 email accounts connected to my gmail app and yes my auto sync is on. My phone is not rooted and i do not intend to do so ever. I just want to use the stock rom and launcher..
So the problem im facing is horrible battery life. I generally fully charge my phone till 10pm and dont use it overnight... then in the morning i just listen to some music on the way to school for about 1 hour and 30 minutes (yes i know my school is very far away from my house). then my phone is on standby for like 6-8 hours. and then at about 3pm i use it again for music and facebook n stuff... by 4:30pm i only have 20-30% battery left with only 1 hour and 50 minutes of screen on time..
please help me to increase the battery life because im pretty sure that its supposed to last much longer.
PS nfc, voice command, google now, wifi, gps, bluetooth etc is off.
1. Using auto sync kills the battery. It is constantly checking for emails, syncing with Google, Facebook etc etc... this might be one of the reasons.
2. I suggest you put the screen brightness on auto. one of the biggest battery consumption of now a days smartphones are the big screens.
3. Try to upgrade your phone to a newer version, that might help either. some people report that after upgrading to a newer version, the battery life improved for them.
4. Turn of Mobile Data. This is a HUGE battery drainer!
That is what I can think of.
I hope I managed to help you

As you don't want to root then the only XDA device is to factory reset .

Facebook/Whatsapp/Viber/Tango, all these programs consume alot of battery as they need to wake the phone and check for notifications (messages etc... ). I'm not saying don't install them, I'm saying you shouldn't have the Mobile Data turned on all the time. I'm assuming you don't send a message every second, right? Or check the email every second? (and I also assume that you are not a business man since you go to school...) The world won't collapse if you don't check your email/Facebook/Whatsapp every 5 seconds. That is my advice to you, you can choose to accept it or reject it, its your choice.

i already tried restoring it... didnt help.
and i took it to the service centre too, they are like "we didnt find any problem with it". im from india so the people in service centres here are useless, they are uneducated and dont care about others. So yeah no help from there
and does everyone have to root to use the phone as advertised i mean i just dont want to spend hours and hours on tweaking my phone so that it works as any other phone does.
and how many hours of screen on do u get on normal usage?

No use complaining here about a problem that you have complain to Samsung .
This is XDA developers forum not a fix your phone forum .We cannot help you if the battery lasts two hours its a fault rooting will not help .

i understand what u are saying. However i cant find any option to tell the gmail app to fetch my email every half an hour or so like it is in iPhone (in iphone u can choose ur fetch time). I dont get notificaions every second and even every hour for that matter but i need mobile data on for whatsapp atleast and i have already turned off facebook sync i.e. it only looks for notifications. i dont have viber or tango installed.
and do u really think mobile data is using up all my battery coz i saw this website that said the s3 can give up to 6 hours of web surfing.

If you drop down the notification window, u should find there a Sync option. disable it. That should do it for the Sync issue.
You can't understand how much battery turning off Mobile Data saves...
Trust me, people won't go nuts if you don't answer them just as you receive the message
So you can chat with your friends, but don't forget to turn off Mobile Data, so it won't consume a lot of battery
AW: Battery not lasting more than 2 hours
I have had the same problem so I flashed the Siyah kernel and even overclocked it to 1,7 ghz. Awkwardly my battery lasts much much longer now. About 2 days of average usage.

so do u prefer i turn on wifi instead? does that use less battery than 3G?
and i know how to disable sync!
Looking at your screen shots there appears nothing wrong with your phone, it's doing exactly what Samsung intended it to do as a 'connected hub for your online life' - but it will eat your battery as the phone is working and communicating all the time while you're not using it.
Either live with a charger close at hand or disable the 30 or so rubbish apps and services they included to burn through your battery. Who cares about OTA updates, delete your Samsung account, check your facebook using the browser instead of an app etc.
I get 2 days use from one charge with at least 6 to 8 hours screen on time included, but my phone is only awake when I turn the screen on, doing what I want it to do - not amusing it's self when turned off. That requires a custom ROM or rooting at least to kill the persistant stock apps.
Using wifi instead of 3G will reduce power consumption quite a bit, especially if your 3G signal is weak.

Even if you don't use the Samsung apps & services they are still running in the background, you are certainly using the Facebook app as it ate a large amount of your battery. Disable the facebook app and instead use the browser to check it just when you need to, this is just an example btw - it won't solve your overall problem.
I use Vikingway ROM, which is a very stripped down version of stock so everything still works. It should double your battery life, but your online social life will suffer.

this is my first good smartphone and i really wanna make the most of it so yeah
what do u think about the cyanogenmod btw?
Install AppQuarantine
Disable Maps and Facebook. Them to alone cause most battery station with absolutely no use. You mentioned you use Facebook often.. Use a widget to quick enable+open/disable Facebook for example.
Facebook uses 5% battery just like that. Maps up to 15%
Whenever you reboot your device look at running apps. Almost everything should be killed except Google services.
Manage what syncs. Limit Google syncing to gmail only.
And then some
Root:
Root your S3. Use SetCPU profiles when screen is off 200-300 ondemand governor. Under volt if necessary for that extra up to 5%.
International S III 16GB / Dualboot 4.1.2 Stock & Cyanogenmod 10.1 / Gokhan's SK
I seem to get varying degrees of battery life. Was getting great battery life with Perseus kernel, then all of a sudden after restoring from a nandroid backup it went terrible.
Mayeb going to switch back to siyah kernel and follow some of the battery life threads

Thank you so much guys, I just got the 4.1.2 update and since then my battery lasts about 3 hours on screen on time and the standby time had also increased quite significantly. I have also turned off auto sync and that helps a lot too.

is it Huawei or Android problem ? (Delay/Missing) notification

i just moved from Sony to Huawei last week . i got Mate 10 pro
device is nice and battery is great and fast and everything was perfect with me from the first look.
then by installing my daily use apps i noticed some problems are showing and not only me as i sow some users here are complaining it .
it is killing all apps and get no advantage of any app i want it to push a notification and reminder for me .
actually any app i use for reminders and notification are not working perfectly
for example i have tried 3 apps for prayer reminders and non of them worked for a complete day , it works once and the next it gets another delay , and last it gets missed .
also i have a call recorder which is working perfectly on my Xperia Z3 but here it is not recording every single call .
also i have app called BlipBlip for hourly peeping ... same issue .
any to-do app , caller identifier (truecaller,numberbook ....)
i tried to make the Ignore battery optimization
i changed the settings in Launch battery
still no luck
any permanent solution please ?

Probably a doze problem. I heard that is an oreo problem. I have the same issue with my op5. Probably they will fix it with updates.

If you enable Power saving mode then your device automatically kills background applications.
Try by disable power saving mode.
In settings, You will also manage that which apps show notifications and which are not.
All customization of notifications are avaliable in setting e.g. Notification on lock screen, notification on status bar, status bar icon. Hope it helps. Hit Thankx

of course i am not using the power save mode ,
i put the app in the "Ignore battery optimization" list .
i put the app in the manual option in "Launch" and allowed everything to run in background .
i enabled the app in the n"Notification Management" section
what else i can do to prevent the device from killing the app ?
still i have this problem from time to time .
note : yesterday the app worked perfectly and i have got all notification and i thought i have solved the problem finally ,
but today it comes back again and start worry again .

Have you tried by factory data reset?
I mean hard reset through stock recovery.
Be sure to remove your id otherwise you device stick in FRP lock.
Happens for me still with Disa (my facebook and sms messaging app).
It's really ****ty.
This is a hard one for sure! Is it Android or is it Huawei? I think it's a combination of both! We all shouted praise when we first heard of Doze...but now we curse the day we heard of it! LOL
On most of my phones I have had issues with Gmail notifications not coming in as quickly as I thought they should, and I still experience slight delays on my Mate 10 (non-pro) version. However, it seems that after I open Gmail for the first time in the day and get my first notification then it works OK for the rest of the day. My texts, using Textra, always come in right away and I have both apps set up the same way on the phone pertaining to battery, background, and notifications. So Gmail is the harder one to get working as it should. But is it Doze, or is it Huawei and EMUI? Personally, I think it should be left up to one or the other but NOT both! And whichever one implements a battery saving feature should provide CLEAR and CONCISE instructions on making it work the way we want it to. Huawei has implemented several convoluted methods to the way battery saving and notifications work and they are not mutually exclusive...in other words, they can conflict with each other...that is bad enough. But when you layer this ON TOP of Android's Doze (which has no apparent way to configure it) this just leads to a mess in trying to figure out what is causing the delays! So then, I feel that Android to needs to take control of this issue and force all OEM's to follow a standard for battery control so that it is the same across the board no matter what phone we are using.

This is not an Android doze problem. Its Huawei battery management process killing all running apps. I had a sony xz premium running Oreo and not a single problem. Now I'm using Pixel 2 XL and not a signle problem. Its definitely Huawei that restricts notifications due to battery management. This is what stopped me getting the Mate 10 pro. Awesome phone but with notifications not coming through makes the phone useless
I also had the XZ Premium and I agree that it did not have this issue. But my Mate 10 (non-pro) really does not have it that bad. I really do not even notice it. I do shut off my phone every night. I have said in many different forums that I feel that a daily restart of all cell phones is good for keeping things running smoothly. Takes a minute of your time while brushing your teeth in the morning. Maybe this will help someone with more serious issues??
cmon people ...it's not that hard
...go to settings - battery - launch -
from there you can disable or enable specific battery management for each app to be able to launch, be launched by other apps and run in background
they are set to to be managed automatically by default, any app you are having issues being killed just open the launch settings and set them manually.
I set this up when i got the phone and i never have any issues with missing any notifications that i want to see plus my battery lasts for 2-3 days.

The problem with your reasoning is that Gmail is not listed there! This is the only one that seems to delay for me, but as I mentioned it is not that bad. Then again, I am not waiting for, or getting, anything in my personal email that needs super immediate attention. But there may be someone who needs their Gmail to notify them as soon as they receive an email. Thus the complaint!
Welcome the sh*ty world of Huawei

I'm not surprised with Huawei and notifications problems.... This 2 goes together.
First with Mate 8 the first 4 months, then with Mate 9 the first 2 months and now with Mate 10 pro as you mentioned
To be honest I have Mate 10 (no pro) and from the first day I didn't have any problem with "stock mail app, Facebook, Facebook messanger, Viber, Twitter, Instagram, whatsup, weather widget"
But please try this one.... It was the solution I follow with Chinese version of Mate 9 : Open every app that you want instant notification and "locked" it to recent apps and keep it there.... If you have already try this then there isn't much more to do so think of a hard reset or change device.... As for Android 8 I have a s9+ together with Mate 10 and both are manage notifications perfectly....

That is an interesting proposition! I have never used that particular lock before...in fact I can honestly say that at first I didn't know what you were talking about. I guess I never paid any attention to the little lock on those previously opened apps. Not sure if it will work yet or not but I did mention that after I opened Gmail the first time it appeared as if the notifications came in properly. So if this works then I should not have to open Gmail first thing in the morning to get the notifications flowing! Thank you so much for this suggestion! :good:
