apps that work on x8 but you cant find them on market - XPERIA X8 Themes and Apps

I tryed google gogles from internet and work on x8 but why i cant find this app on android market?
What apps you have try but you cannot find it on android market?

You have the same problem as mine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919112

You can't download Google Goggles from the Market because it is only for phones with auto-focus. X8 doesn't have a camera with auto-focus.

How i use this app if doesnt works on my phone???
Can you explain this.
PS i will upload it later.

This argument is stupid. Barcode Scanner is available in market, so camera without
autofocus is not problem.

It works I have it too. But it's not available in the Market to phones without auto focus.

use the market enabled ....
download it at blapkmarket

As for me, I just use Market on emulator and later push them all to my SD.

ei, how can I save the APPS I downloaded from android market to the SD Card of my Xperia X8? I notice that when I downloaded i think 8 APPS in android market, I am notified for having low storage capacity. I have a 2GB SD card on my phone so I think storage problem is not an issue. But how can I save APPS there (SD Card)?
Your help will be deeply appreciated..

Google Goggles IS available for me... I'm from Poland. An I don't use any Market Enablers or stuff like that.

Available for latest firmware.
Sent from my X8 using XDA App

yes,available for me too....
Sent from my E15i 2.1.1.a.0.6 using XDA App

[Q] Is there a way to run apps from microsd? Offline GPS

The X10 mini only has 128MB of internal storage. I was wondering if there is an easy way to solve this, because I thought that Android only runs apps from internal memory by default.
Is there any good offline GPS app with all the maps included (no internet pre-caching needed)? How much space does it take this kind of offline GPS?
I'm asking this because I really want to use an offline GPS in this phone. If it's not possible I'll look for other androind phones (despite the X10 is the smaller one I found and my first choise for that reason).
Most GPS apps do store their content (maps, pois, etc.) on the SD card so it's no problem using them on the mini.
I'm using ndrive, it nice, allows you to select which maps to download from the internet and stores them on the sd card.
If you device is rooted try this app: Link2SD.
It allows to move user apps to sdcard (but IMHO works better then App2SD). Works perfect on all xperias (both minies, X8 and X10i).
What I don't understand is that if there's a lot of android roms that are about 100 to 150Mb in size, how is it possible for the X10 Mini to have only 128 Mb of storage space?
Are the 128Mb the free storage aviable for users? If so, how much space dos it have for Android?

Very good find. This will pacify me to some extent for not having FROYO. I would like to install it. A detailed experience from you will help.

Good to know that Foryo has support for installing applications to the expandable memory.
Will the x10 mini be updated to froyo?
parthabhatta,
everything works as described in the Link2SD thread. You need just to root your phone, create ext2 partition on sdcard (better to use faster one; I use 6 class) and install the app. I linked such 'greedy' apps as navigation app and games (like Angry Birds). They work fine.
There's no reasons to copy or rewrite the manual. It's good and would't be better after English-Russian-English translation If you get any particular questions, I'll be glad to help.

Great advice. I have installed this app successfully and installed Angry Bird which is running well. BTW my card doesn't have a class marked on it and I think its the slowest one (16gb, Class 2). But the Angry Bird runs well.

So is there really any difference between using Android Froyo (wich has native support for installing apps in the microsd card) and Link2SD (wich is the only alternative to the X10 since it's not going to be updated to Froyo)?
If I'm not mistaken, Froyo doesn't allow to move all apps. Application must support this feature to be moved. Have you seen "App2SD!!!" comments in Market? That's about it
Link2SD allows to move any user app. The only disadvantage is that using Link2SD you have to relink apps after updating (or delete link if you decided to uninstall something).
rikirix started a new topic about Link2SD. Maybe it would be better to continue the discussion there. And mark the question as answered

Ok. By the way, there are projects to port froyo to de x10 mini and pro once the bootloader is fully decrypted.
try mapdroid. this will allow you to download maps using your pc and then copy them to your sd card. working on my mini.

Theoretical question...

I have just got a used x10 mini off ebay, network unlocked.
I then proceeded to update it from 1.6 to 2.1 using the sony software, then rooted it with superoneclick.
What I am looking at doing is trying to get Copilot Live installed on the phone, so I can use satnav without the data charges (I'm on PAYG)
The problem is, that CoPilot Live and the map packs are going to be large in size, and my internal memory is tiny
I do have a 2Gb micro sd card for it, but I don't think you can install apps directly to it on 2.1 (I can't see sony ever updating the x10 mini ever again tbh)
Ok, my question is, following the 'apps 2 sd' guide on phones on 2.1 and below (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804574), if I did this, would I be able to install Copilot Live and it's map packs directly to the 2Gb sd card?
Cheers
I'm pretty sure copilot saves maps to your sd anyway so that shouldnt be a problem
As for that method for apps2sd I don't know because I haven't done it

That would be ideal as I'm sure the actual Copliot Live app would fit on my internal memory, and I really do bot want to mess around partioning sd cards etc just to get apps 2 sd to work.
Does anyone with Coplitot Live installed confirm this?
Cheers
100% positive. It's no way that navigation could install data on internal memory. Apk installs @internal memory. Downloaded data go to sd.
Okay, installed apk to sd card, installed with astro.
Copilot then downloaded the maps and voice I chose straight to the sd card using wifi.
But, now I have a bit of a strange problem. When I choose to enter a destination, it opens an onscreen keyboard like usual, and if I try and type 'Lane', it does 'jkl a mn de'.
Basically, it is not cycling through the letters properly, printing a letter every time I touch the screen (hope that makes sense )
Does anyone know how to remedy this, kinda renders Copilot useless if I can't write in proper destinations!
Cheers
EDIT: Seems they have fixed the problem in the latest CoPilot Live version. Must have been a weird SE 2.1 keyboard bug.
Will wait till a newer version of CoPilot appears on the bay then...
I had the same problem with copilot and the default keyboard. I downloaded Anysoftkeyboard free from the market. Its a software qwerty keyboard. I'm pretty happy with it.

[Q] why can't I download this app?

Ok so I have 74mb of space left. And I'm trying to download a 9.xx mb app from the play store. However it says I can't because I have insufficient space available. I don't understand how I don't have enough space st 74 MB to download a 9 mb app. I've cleared cache and everything too. Can anyone give me an answer as to why this is? Fyi the app is the game minibash, if that makes a difference
Menu/ Settings/ applications/ manage applications / All (apps) / Google Play Store / Clear cache
try it
Wheres it trying to install SD card or internal memory? 9mb is the compressed file size, once installed it will be larger.
Maybe android is reserving a certain amount of working space for caches and stuff like that. Can you push some apps to sd to free up some space?

Transfer apps from SD to Phone, or from Phone to SD
Every app that is movable has been moved
any apps on which I can clear the data to free up space, like amazon appstore and play store, etc have been cleared, and I clear the cache like 5 times a day. I don't know what else to do.

It tells me on the play store that the size is 9.02 mb. From the play store page of that app I don't know how to tell if it installs onto the sd card or the phone. Is there a wqy to tell?
How many apps have you downloaded? Free up some space by deleting an app or two that you don't use much. Then download this set it to external and move apps at will to the sd card. You should then have plenty of space.
Ok if you're in this forum you should have the evo 3d too, but if you did you'd know that the app you told me to download is not compatible with the 3vo, so I can't use that to help me since I can't download it.

An update then must have made it incompatible if it used to be... Thats how an app is on my phone right now, it has an update but when I go to update it it says its not compatible with my phone so I can't update it. OH well. That'd be a really awesome app cuz i have some apps that are like 10+ mb that are not sd compatible so if I could force them to go there that'd be awesome. But it's not compatible. shoot

You might give that a shot, I have no idea how well it works.

Transfering app to a new phone

I have a HTC One M7 phone which i have a buyer for. I will be getting the new Samsung S6 in the next few weeks. In the mean time i will be using an old nokia phone.
How should i transfer the 50+ apps i have (free/paid) to a new phone ?
Should i just make a note of all the apps i have on a piece of paper then download again ? would i need to buy some of them again ? i.e whatsapp
I have noticed on google play from my computer browser that its got my apps on there, would it be easy to do it from there ?
Hi, in Google play, my apps, all u have all the apps you've installed, so u can install them again, no problem.
Astro File Manager lets you backup apps to sd card
You can download My App Sharer from google playstore which can send all apps from one device to another. It also backups all apps in storage.
Hope it helps !!!!!

Storage solution (no-root)

I have seen many people complaining about storage full in moto e (condor) I have a easy solution for non rooted users (there are numerous guides for rooted user but this is for non rooted users)
There are few simple steps:
1- Disable all big apps like chrome , gmail , galley etc. It will uninstall there update and you won't be asked to update them .
2- search for the apps as a replacement to the apps you have disabled , the apps you are choosing should be small in size and should be movable to SD card for example - you can use cm browser as a replacement to chrome(its just consume 10 mbs and can be moved to SD card) ,for gallery use quickpic (3-4mb) , and use stock email app instead of gmail , use being or hound in place of google now.
3- clear cache from settings/ storage
You can uninstall updates or disable all those apps for which you can find a small sized alternative.
P.s. by this method I got almost 350-400 mb free space
That's grt!
But my point is, if you are rooted, you can have 1gb free even after installing 105 apps including bulky games! (presently in my case) by using app2sd
P.S. don't mind ?
