[Q] Dashboard Home Force Close - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

G Tablet down. When I turn it on, it goes through the booting process, then goes straight to..
Sorry! The application Dashboard Home(process com.tapntap.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close
Black screen.
I have done no rooting as of yet, it is straight stock.
I can connect with a desktop, but have no idea what I need to do. Any help out there? Thanks in advance.
****
Well, I guess no one has ran into this problem. Looks like I'm gonna have to return my gtab.

Went ahead and traded it in for a new one. Another month to see if it is the tablet for me.

Check for the "force closing" posts in this forum... had the same problem, and just applied the fix. Not stock ROM though, but fix is supposed to be the same for all

Where is the "force closing" post at? I am running into the same problem, Dashboard Home force closes.

Apps auto-closing.. HELP!

I have posted at Android forums about this problem, and so far I have not found a solution...
On Stock Android 2.1 I can use any app and it stays open, even after I hit the home button. I can click on an app that I used a few minutes ago and it comes up instantly because I did not force close with any kind of manager...
Recently flashed NERO V5, and the opposite is happening. Apps are closing on their own after I use them. I can actually pull up the stock task manager and WATCH a certain app get HIGHLIGHTED IN RED...The CPU USE will go up, and BAM...closed.
I've tried reflashin 4 times now to Auxura's latest, and back to NREo V5. Same results. ONLY when I ODIN'd back to stock 2.1 rom did my apps stay open unless force closed.
Is this a result of faulty hardware? An OS tweak I need?
Please advise, as I love the custom ROMS but hate having to wait on WEB to load up again, after just using it 2 minutes ago....
TY for ANY help or suggestions..
Did you reinstall through Titanium? Did you Odin 1St. Before flashing? Just some troubleshooting starters?
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
SOLVED...
AFTER a series of 5 COLD boots...NOT restarts, everything is running normal..
TY.
Good to hear!
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
sounds like it was a permissions problem. You probably weren't doing wipes before you loaded each of these roms. If you download Rom Manager, you can use the "Fix Permissions" option to resolve a lot of the force close problems.
Nope...still auto closing...
I thought I had this fixed dammit!
I thought that hitting the back button after opening an app closed it. Not on my phone it doesn't. Also, WEB and Contacts close after I use facebook or market. Are there any hardware diagnostic tools available in market? Anyway to check if this issue is hardware related?
Yes, I checked the clear box prior to installing new roms if that's what you meant. I did not check the backup rom button though...
Tried fix permissions too but the problem is back now!
Maybe it's hardware related, IDK...
I cannot get WEB and contacts to stay open. I use these 2 apps alot at work, but whenever I use other apps such as market, facebook, camera etc... upon return home, I can take a peek in task manager, and sure enough...NOT THERE.

same thing happening here on froyo ka6 vibrant.....i've tried sgs tuner, memory manager, toolbox, etc but can't get the apps to stay open.
You only have this problem in Axura correct? Not in any other 2.2 roms you've tried or stock 2.1....how about stock 2.2?
It mainly happens in froyo.

[Q] Wall paper after upgrade

I just did an OTA upgraded from viewsonic. The only "mod" i've done is the android market fix. When i try to go to change the wallpaper I get "the applicatoin Home(process com.tapntap.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close.
Does anyone else have this issue? How do you fix it. It only happens on regular wallpapers. I can still go to live wall papers. Which i don't really care for. No other apps are force closing like this.

GB on TB

Ok so I have been looking over the forums and I hope I didn't miss it if there is a post already about this so I am going to go ahead and ask away. If it has been posted and I did miss it then I apologize for beating a dead horse.
I have tried the Liquid Gingersense (v1.4, v1.5, and v1.6) and CyanogenMod (v7.1.0-RC1.5.2 and v 7.1.0-RC1.6.1) and have not had any luck. Along with some minor esthetic issues I had with the CyanogenMod, I had noticed that the Gingersense actually disabled my radio and I was unable to make any calls and the signal bars would just show up with an "x" next to it. I rebooted many times and kind of tinkered around and tried other ways of turning it on or playing with LTE on/off to see if that would help in any way and I never did get it enabled.
When I would look at the "Quick Setting" (if I recall the name correctly), the icon for me to enable it was greyed out so clicking on it did nothing at all. Has anyone had this issue? Did I perhaps miss doing something when setting this up? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
You mentioned that you had no signal with Gingersense but not with Cyanogenmod so I'm not sure if this is your case but did you flash the radio suggested for those roms? MR2, GB leak, etc. If not, you can find links in the pinned thread at the top of the Q/A.
Also, remember when switching between roms to wipe data/cache.
No actually I did not try that. So if I do get time to do that do I do the ROM then the radio thing? I do believe I came across a.radio deal and thought " I wonder if I need to install that?" But never tried. I figured it safer to ask and not break my phone than to break it and figure out how to fix it...lol

Ya sounds like you need to flash an Mr2 or higher radio. Check the q&a stickys for links and instructions.

Well I decided to give it another shot. I have GingerSense v1.7 installed and did the MR2 install and it all works perfectly. I have a few apps I need to reinstall and a couple icons to redo but other then that everything looks great and seems to work smooth. Thank you guys for the help. I greatly appreciate it.
Actually the only issue I am having right now is that every...I dont know maybe 5 minutes or so there is an error that pops up that Im not sure how to get rid of. It says...
"The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Any ideas or thoughts about this?
Well I think I have discovered the root of this error. I have noticed that when I text and if o click on the Mic to do voice to txt that even though the screen pops up as if it OS going to record, it does absolutely nothing. How to fix it is where I am still stumped though.
Sent from my h4x0r3D ADR6400L using XDA App
Well it seems I have been noticing some weird things that are making me think maybe I should try Gingersense v1.5
At first my camera was working but Im not sure why it isnt now. I cant do pics or video and lastnight when I was trying to Skype with my cousin in CA the video cam didnt work for me. I also have been getting two different errors...
1) The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
-AND-
2) The application Talk (process com.google.android.talk) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I also had noticed that it seems to take a bit longer for the phone to boot in comparison to what it used to and especially when it was brand new and not yet rooted. I have a custom static image that says "HTC quietly rooted" and a WWII themed Android boot animation". When I reboot I get a black screen for about 30 seconds then the custom HTC image comes up for about 20-25 seconds then the custom animation plays THEN once that's done I'm booted into my phone.
Is there any kind of way to cut those times down for faster booting? Well I think I will have to keep messing with this and see what I can do...

Doing factory reset, wizard force closing

Hello,
Earlier today, my phone just started acting up. All day, every single app was force-closing to where I cannot even use the phone anymore. Email, google docs, dialer one, calendar, everything. It was annoying.
I decided to run a hard-reset by pressing the up/down arrows and power button. I chose factory reset and saw the lock screen.
I got to the HTC vision and I was able to enter my google account so I can start synching up my phone.
After clicked the "finish set-up I get a force Close again. Here is the exact error.
Sorry!
The application Setup Wizard (process com.android.setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Since I can't click on anything else, I click on force close and I basically cannot see anything after that. No home screen, but I do see the taskbar on top. When I turn off and turn the phone on, I will get stuck at the Dell Logo.
Please help!!! I don't know what to do.
I have the Dell Froyo Stock Rom, can't remember exactly what build.
Thank you guys
I also don't see anything if I press on the physical menu button. I put it on my dock, I clicked the clock icon and it automatically force close, did not even see the clock.
This is so wierd. I appreciate all the help.
Thank you
Nim
Wrong place to ask question. This is for developing thread.

The mods will move the thread to the right place, but to try and help the OP out, it sounds like the inner MicroSD may be going bad. Run a diagnostic on it by getting the Streak into Fastboot mode (instructions on the wiki), then tapping *#301# into the keypad that pops up in Fastboot. You should see a list of options of which one should be to test the MicroSD.
If the MicroSD passes the diagnostic, then the ROM somehow became corrupt and you need to flash a new copy. If the MicroSD doesn't pass the diagnostic, it will need to be replaced.
I am really sorry.. I thought I was in the proper thread.
Mods, please delete, I will make a new thread to the other sub-forum. I apologize once again.
Strephon Alkhalikoi: Thank you for your help. I ran the diagnostic and fortunately SD card and SIM card is working fine.
So looks like I have to reflash the ROM, I kind of have an idea. I flashed the official Dell Froyo long time ago but I cannot remember exactly how. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday coz my computer at work is set-up already for ADB and all that.
Hit the thanks button next to my post if I was helpful. And...deleting a thread isn't necessary. The mods may move it if they feel it belongs in another section, and for them that's not a great deal of work.

[Self-fixed] JB Google Now problem: Crashes immediately on search

Google Now worked correctly on my phone, until 1st of August. Since then, it is having a strange problem. Not just voice, even if I try to search using text (typing it into the box), it briefly shows the results and crashes immediately. Its not a 'crash' as such, it just shows the home screen directly, and no force close or not responding message.
Anyone else experiencing this? What could be the problem?
ROM: CM10 latest build - tried reinstalling, tried installing older build but no luck
EDIT: Fixed it!! Under "Phone Search", you'd need to disable one (or more) options in order to make it work correctly. For me, it was Google Chrome. Its working fine now.
I had the same problem of it not showing up after my GApps flash. Caught unaware, I started installing/updating the Google Apps, then saw this thread and reflashed the proper GApps file. Unfortunately, that caused all sorts of weirdness. What I found to work after everything was to reflash JB, reboot back into recovery, and flash GApps IMMEDIATELY after the JB flash. Now I have Google Now with all my apps. No special settings changes or anything. It just works now.

I am having the exact same issue, with the exception that I tried disabling everything under phone search, and it still crashes immediately
I can open google now but as soon as I start to type it closes (similar to OP, no FC message or anything, just back to the homescreen). I can't even click settings within google search (same result, just closes). I think it was working after upgrading to JB. I think it started to act weird after integrating with my system rom using Titanium Backup. I don't think there's a way to de-integrate, is there?
Do you think installing the APK on top would help? Or do I need to start over?
Also, FWIW, I'm on the moto droid razr maxx HD, so this sounds like a software, not hardware, issue.
