[HOW TO] INstall DioDict COllins Bundled Dictionary From Stock(INDIA) - Optimus One, P500, V General

Well theres a apk in /system/app/DioDict_for_Android_LG_Swift_India.apk
permissions 0644(rw,r,r)
and theres a static library /system/lib/libDioDictEngineNative.so
and i think there was a dictionary database in the bundled mmc (a foolder called edictionary) /sdcard/
COpy these files to the directories listed above and voila! your dictionary is back
ROOT UR PHONE ,INstall ROOT explorer ,copy files, set permissions and it worked on my megatron ROM... thought might as well share it...
NOTE: If u took the NANDroid backup of your phone before installing customised ROM ...u can always extract the files mentioned above by using unyaffs.exe http://www.filecrop.com/search.php?w=unyaffs&size_i=0&size_f=100000000&engine_r=1&engine_m=1&engine_h=1
and use the system.img in your nandroid backup folder

didnt make nandroid before flashing ....

Well then look for it on filecrop.com

Can you attach the .so file here?

im willing to give my ozone wifi pass 1 gb /2 month / 2mbps to who uploads the edictionary database :|

the DIoDict Library
the library is included..i cud have uploaded that edictionary folder too..But i m on sodding 2.5g network(Its INdia) and can't even upload that..

bro i need tht edictionary :|

i formated my mmc card and lost the edictionary folder and the contents . can any one post it here if the have it ?

Is THIS the database?? Its what i could find on my card's edictionary.
But since i've installed a different ROM now, I too need the .apk for the dictionary if anyone can share...
thanks a lot

did not find diodict in my stock..can anybody upload it diodict apk
thanks in advance..

Hello everyone!
Here is a zip that contains all the files needed to make Diodict Dictionary work on custom roms (or any rooted phone):
mediafire[.com]/?umr5xvhze4wa5rc (remove "[" and "]" from the link. I am not allowed to post links yet.)
1. It contains the DioDict apk file which is in the "TitaniumBackup" folder. You can also use TitaniumBackup to restore it by placing the folder at the root of your sdcard.
2. It contains "libDioDictEngineNative.so" which you must place in system/lib folder. You will need 'root' and 'write to system folder' permissions for this. Not a big deal if you're on a custom rom.
3. It contains the databases for "Collins Cobuild Advanced", "Oxford Advanced Learners" and "StarPublications ENG-HIN" in the "edictionary" folder. You must place this folder at the root of your sdcard. The first two "Collins Cobuild Advanced" & "Oxford Advanced Learners" are awesome english dictionaries which will work offline. I don't know what the third one ("StarPublications ENG-HIN") is.
Let me know if any issues. Click thanks if I helped.
And @ccreadcc: Where is my ozone wifi pass? kidding....

Everything worked except that i was not able to paste the file.I am on CM7.
I use root explorer:
"you cannot paste here the file system is read-only"
I tried to edit the permission but say"some file do not allow permission changes"
Please Help

solution
Mount /system as writable
I don't know about Root explorer. I use ES File Explorer. In ES Explorer under Settings> Root Settings> Check both the options and you'll be able to paste the file there.

i had 2 wifi passes unused.. wonder where i put it xD

i just did !
i got success to install this on official 2.3 rom
just copy "libDioDictEngineNative.so" to system/lib folder
after that install com.diotek.diodict2.swift_india-a1c589b5691365fa3b910b4435b6d4ec.apk as u install other software .
it works for me !
thanks !!

Hy.
I want to paste files to system folder from sd card via root explorer (not old version), but it says that i cant because the file system is read-only.I know ,i had to press the button to mount the folder to r/w, but i havent got tis button anywhere.I repeat: im not using old version of root explorer (i tried 2.5.1 and 2.9.3 but the same problem). My phone is xperia x8 (android v 2.1.1).Please help.Sorry for my english, its not my native language
I use File Expert but I had the same problem. I don't know whether this solution is available or not, but it's worth a shot right?
You should first go to settings ---> File explorer settings ---> 'tick' Root Explorer
Then the mount option should appear. Try and see
using file export and I can't paste to system folder.

I'm trying to paste a file to the system folder, I have root expert ticked and mounted the folder. But it keeps saying "operation failed", please help.
In File Expert you should mount system as read-write manualy no matter that root explorer option is ticked on.

Root explorer help

Can someone explain how root explorer works with pushing files onto your phone. I'm completely clueless? Thanks in advance
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
root explorer u need paid version that lets u mount system as read write free version doesent do that anymore , reason for read write is u can override system files . if you just try to copy file without read write it wont let you untl u give permission to overwrite the file "R/W" (LETS SAY U WANT TO REPLACE FRAMEWORK , WITHOUT R/W U CANT JUST LIKE IN WINDOWS U CANT MODIFY FILES THAT ARE MARKED AS READ ONLY )

It's basically a copy/paste procedure, everyone uses Root Explorer to do this since it is the most common and easy to use app, you can do the same with other apps but it's more complicated and sometimes wont mount internal sdcard as R/W properly.

Backup wifi passwords

Hi dudes,
I wonder to know how can I backup all wifi passwords and config before switching to another Rom. I think it's container in a network manager file...
Would someone just create an app (I think it will require root access) to backup it and restore in a single click? I'd love it, since I'm getting bored to input 64 characters length passwords...
Cheers,
giopas

I second this motion!
It would be really useful and save us all some hassle...
what about saving it to a QR code and just scan it? then paste haha
-Get root explorer
-Browse you nand files and look for /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
-Copy it to your SD card
now when you flash a new ROM just place the file back in /data/misc/wifi directory using root explorer.
Wifi key recovery app seems to back up this file (I have still to test it), but it does not restore it back.
Root explorer is a paying app and does much more than needed...

Yep, it seems so... even if IMHO "Wifi key recovery" app already seems to do the first part of the job: export infos. It would be nice if someone could write the second part: restore.
Any (capable) volunteers???
EDIT: I've just bought root explorer, but I'd like that app..
btw on Galaxy S the file is /data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf

Can't read Hindi Language Fonts on SGS II?

Hi all! Whenever some friends of mine update their Twitter a/c in Hindi Language Fonts, am unable to read them as they show up us empty rectangular boxes. Wasn't Gingerbread 2.3.3 supposed to support Hindi Language Fonts? Anyone knows how to fix this?
I guess I will have to add the Hindi font ttf file in the "fonts" folder in my Root> System folder. I have the droidhindi.ttf file downloaded but I don't know how to copy it to the required folder in root. It does not show sytem files when connected to a Laptop via USB. I can view the folder in Root Explorer on my phone, but how to transport the droidhindi.ttf file to the Fonts folder in the phone??
And will it work if I just add the drop the droidhindi.ttf file in the Fonts folder? Anyone who knows this??
a lot of indians are buying this phone

ok this is what you need to do...
goto systems/fonts and take a backup of DroidSansFallback.ttf
move it to computer/sdcard...but keep it safe...
now move the droidhindi.ttf to systems/fonts
rename droidhindi.ttf to DroidSansFallback.ttf
restart the browser....by killing it from task manager and relaunching...
go to a hindi site....
@pHyRe7
@woodstock_ahem : Thanks a ton for your response. In a hurry right now, will do as you posted in my first free time. Hope it works
@woodstock_ahem : Ok, got down to acting upon your advice. But the problem is that I can only view the /sdcard directory of my phone when connected to my laptop via USB cable. I cannot access any other space in the phone except the /sdcard.
I can view the root files via the Root Explorer app on my phone, so I tried to Move the DroidSansFallback.ttf from the System>Fonts folder, but when I click on the Move command, I get the message that "You cannot move System Files as they are Read Only". So the problem I'm facing is HOW to transfer the new .ttf file from my laptop to the Fonts folder in System? I can neither transport the new file from my laptop to the Fonts folder in the phone coz that folder is not accessible when connected to the laptop, nor can I move the existing DroidSansFallback.ttf file anywhere else from the Fonts folder on the phone. So what to do now?
Just a piece of info which might be useful for you : My phone has KE8 Kernel, is rooted but reverted back to original kernel to remove the yellow triangle.

To alter any system files you need to set to R/W(read/write) if you keep it at read only you cant alter anything.(its designed as a protection)
On the top R/H conner of root explorer there is a button to set it to R/W or RO.
Hope this helps you.

To add to what @iznee has mentioned....
do the following:-
copy the droidhindi.ttf anywhere in the phone memory(after preferably creating a folder).. this doesnt need root explorer...just a file copy from the laptop should be enough... (you said you can see sdcard folder right ?... copy the file there)
i am guessing so far you have not used root explorer for anything else than browsing system files..else you wont be asking the question...
so first things first you have to provide root access to the root explorer app else you would not be able to provide it with r/w access...
install a free app superuser and give the root access allow to root explorer...
follow what @iznee has mentioned above
then follow what i advised in my first reply to this thread
@Iznee : "To alter any system files you need to set to R/W(read/write)".....this is what I had missed! Thanks a ton, your post was very helpful.
@woodstock_ahem : Thanks, Woody! Once I was able to change the option to r/w......rest was easy. Replaced the .ttf like you said. Now opening some hindi sites to test whether it works. And voila! it works! Thanks again to both of you
But one minor hiccup has occured. I've lost the Original DroidSansFallback.ttf file I'll tell you how. I had moved the original file to my sdcard>android folder. The original was a 4.5 MB file but it was showing as a .nomedia file with 0 bytes. So I thought let me move it to my Data Folder inside the Android folder from where I intended to transport the original file to my laptop, where I thought it would be safer. Till I moved the original file to my Android folder inside sdcard, the file was showing as normal (DroidSansFallback.ttf), but as soon as I moved it from there to my Data folder inside the Android folder it turned into a .nomedia file with 0 bytes! And when I moved it back to the android file it was still showing as a .nomedia file with 0 bytes.
So does this mean that Samsung is not allowing us to move the Original DroidSansFallback.ttf file outside the phone? I hope I will never need the original file as the file I replaced it with is working fine, but just in case I need it......now I don't have the original
Just as you got the droidhindi.ttf from the web you can get the lost file...you would also get it back when you update the next released firmware..or reflash ROM...plenty of ways...no big deal...this would be a learning point for you...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Ya, no big deal that I lost the original as the new one is working fine, so I won't miss the original. But my question was this.......does this mean that we cannot move system files of the phone outside the phone? How did the file change its filetype to .nomedia and its filesize to 0 bytes from 4.5MB?
i had not elaborated on how to copy a file from the phone memory to the computer assuming that is too simple to write about it...
i dont see any problem here...the learning point for you is..always...always create a new folder for taking backups...and not just move a file into a systems library..
this equates to dowloading a music file into c:\windows\system32\data as an example...why not have a separate folder for it..
i have taken a copy of DroidSanFallback.ttf into a new folder created in both Sdcard phone folder as well as into a folder created into external_sd (which is a separate physical sd card)...
can move it back and forth to/from computer without issues...
this will work for any kind of file..any extension...
so there is no issue here...

Old Youtube app from Eclair GT I5801!!

Hi Frnds,
I want The old youtube app from Eclair version of our phone.
This is because the froyo or the latest version require high speed internet connectivity(which i don't have) and takes really long time to buffer whereas i remember that the old version from eclair was fast(Of course video quality is compromised, but its OK)

it is an .apk file
you need to install root explorer ( you need root access to install this)
Then simply copy this file, navigate to /system/app (on top there should be a button saying mount r/w, press that once) after simply press paste replacing the old one.
an alternative way to install is to just delete the youtube.apk from /system/app using root explorer and installing this youtube .apk file normally like an installation from file manager.
This is where i gave you the link from, its the thread with the stock apps of i5800
