Car chargers on ebay. - G Tablet Accessories

Correct me if im wrong but the gtablet does not charge thru the usb port? I see several chargers for sale on ebay and they are usb out cigarette lighter adapters. They won't work? Correct?

You are correct - they will not work

Because of the center post in the gTab's power port is so thick I would recommend taking it with you to your local Radio Shack to see which one will fit.

VEC009 that has the correct tip (and voltage) as confirmed by several GTab owners ($10 on amazon).
You can find it for less on ebay.
There is a whole thread about it, read here.

Spare AC Adapter

Kinda bothers me that the unit only charges via an AC Adapter, I was hoping it would charge through the mini usb. Anyone know of a way to get a spare. I'm already dreading being without this GTab if the charger breaks.
I'm not at my tab right now but I looked at the adapter once before and saw m630 (or something like that) on the back. When I google'd it I found a kodak m630 for like $14.

I measured the output of the power adapter supplied and it was around 18V open circuit and definitely AC despite the center positive symbol on the back of the wall wart. Can you confirm that the 12V DC center positive adapter charges the tablet. I would love to buy a car adapter for this for when I travel. Thanks.

The ZT-180 uses a 9V 2A power supply. The g-tablet uses 12V 2A. These are not compatible.
Don't know if this one has been posted, but here is the exact power supply:
http://shop.accessory4you.com/05-chanpin/p-001-1.asp?id=2388
On a related note: When I was looking for a PSU for my ZT-180, a co-worker gave me one from a broken portable DVD player (9V 2A). He also gave me the automobile adapter that came with the portable DVD player. It is rated at 12V 2A. I'm not sure why the different ratings for the same device, but I didn't even want to try it on the ZT-180.
It looks like it may work on the g-tablet, but I'm afraid to try it. I don't know the model DVD player it came from, but I'll ask the guy who gave it to me. He went deer hunting, so I won't see him until after Thanksgiving.
EDIT: It looks like Radio Shack has an automobile adapter that MAY work with the g-tablet.

I'm not sure what it was you were measuring. A 12V DC PSU measures at 18V AC ?
Mine measures 12.28V DC. In AC mode my meter doesn't even get a read from the power supply.
My zt180 has a 12V 2A adapter.

g Tablet AC Adapters

I realized earlier today that the ac adapter for the GTablet is the exact same model as the ac adaptor is for my kodak picture frame. the model number is MPA-630. I did test the one from my frame and yes it does work. If having the word kodak on the charger doesn't not bother you and you want to get it not directly from china you can pick up a replacement ac adaptor for the kodak digital picture frame SV811 or just search for the ac adaptor model number in ebay or google it.

The current LG portable DVD players (DP581 etc) have similar power requirements and their mains power adaptor fits the g-tablet perfectly.
The LG portable DVD players also ship with car power socket cables, with the correct plug for our tablets. This looks like a safe bet for your in-car power requirements.

I just received mine today from China after purchasing it off of eBay two weeks ago. It is identical to the charger that came with the gTab. The only word of caution is that mine came with one of the plug prongs bent like a "greater than" sign. I used a pair of pliers to straighten it before use.
just found some iGo chargers that charge my Tab now (also works on my laptop). Picking them up at a great price for us
Should be ready for shipping out tomorrow (weather permitting)
Chargers or tips? I would like to find an Igo tip that works.

It's the full charger with a tip included that fits the GTab
Just go to radio shack and pick up either AC adapter or auto adapter with a 12V 2A output capability. Most of them come with a variety of tips so they can be used on the G tab as well as other devices.
Can someone post a link for the correct LG charger? I could only find the UK model. Thanks.

USB Cables

I am looking for a Charging and Sync cable for my TF101. The one that comes with the unit is only a meter or so, and charging does not appear to work with a normal USB extension. I would also like a spare cable or two as I am finding I use the TF101 a lot more since I upgraded the ROM etc.
So, can someone recommend a cable available in the US. Amazon and Newegg seem to have some but with no reviews or ratings.
Thanks!
Personally I bought all of them I've went through (I have puppies regularly that chew and I always forget to pick up my cables) off of Ebay. I believe you can use a USB3.0 extension cable and it will charge although I cannot confirm it.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
I've been using usb 3.0 cables since a year ago as extensions. Works fine just. Make sure you get version 3 cables since the additional wires compared to the older 1.0 or 2.0 standard are needed to trigger the power adapter into sending out the 15V high power charging voltage.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2
Plain USB3 cable won't charge it, you need their adapter. The extensions will work fine as long as it's connected to 15V (standard USB3 is less than 5V). You can find cheap working ones on ebay or online stores like Monoprice. For charger cables and chargers, look on ebay for "tf101 charger" and you'll find plenty for less than 10$.
Thanks for all the responses. I will order a few and see how they work. Thanks!

Scosche Dual 2.4A car charger

I just wanted to let people know that Scosche just released a new dual 2.4A car charger. This is not a car charger that splits 2.4A between two ports, but one that has full 2.4A per port. You can charge tablets and phones at the same time. What I love about this charger, is that it sits flush in the car. No stick protruding out.
I used to have their older model, the 2.1A dual car charger USBC202M. I purchased it in May. When I saw that they had this one available on their site, I asked a representative through chat if I could exchange my USBC202M for the USBC242M one. He said sure and gave me the info on how to do the exchange. I only paid the shipping to them and got a brand new item. I did not send the original box or anything. Great customer service!
I will try this later on. I have a dedicated USB charge only cable so I will not run into any of the charging issues that some people might have using a data/charge cable.
The USBC202M and USBC242M are listed as the same price on SCOSCHE's website. The USBC242M is not up on Amazon yet, which is where I purchased the original charger.
Link to USBC242M: http://www.scosche.com/chargers/ipad-usb-car-charger-two-port
Link to the charge only cable I am using (nice 5ft): http://www.amazon.com/Specialised-M...=UTF8&qid=1385138950&sr=8-1&keywords=portapow . I like how it is a little thinner than the Mediabridge 6ft one that everyone seems to be using. And the connections are a little less bulkier as well so I am able to connect with my phone that is using a Spigen Slim Armor.
Pics up soon.

It's like any other USB cable, you just plug it in to a USB port. It allows AC charging regardless if you plug it into an AC adapter or a USB port on your PC. This will not allow any data when used in a PC.

USBC202M
That same model number is on Amazon. it lists it differently though..
Dual 10 WATT (2.1A) USB Ports
http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-USBC202M-Charger-works-iPhone/dp/B0077PM3KG
It is only $16 which is a lot less than $24
UPDATE
I see the difference. The packaging you have a picture of has that Model number listed as USBC242M not USBC202M
The lesser should be more than adequate for the Note 3 as it exceeds the 1.8A it will really use at the most.

Yeah. I had the original USBC202M that you see on Amazon. I paid that back in May. I contacted Scosche through chat on their website (took about 30 min before someone was even available) and asked if I could just swap it with the newer model since they were selling it for the same price. He just needed the receipt (which showed my cost of $16) when I send my original one. It was done as a warranty exchange since it was within a year.
I know 2.4A is more than enough but this is great if you also wanted to charge a tablet as well. Or if people were running kernels that allowed more than 1.8A charging.
Here's a much cheaper Anker dual 2.4A that I was looking at but hate how large it is. The price is soooo nice too. $11.99

Anker makes quality products. The price is great but I was really looking for a flush look when installed in my car. Most of my interior is black and this is a bright pearl white. Is there an advantage of a stick design as opposed to a flush?

Yes, looks aside the compact version is going to run much hotter if both outlets are used at capacity.

Yeah I had totally missed that until I saw this thread. After posting the question I looked at the port and saw that it is a two in one port. Just the other day I was bummed that I forgot the N3 charging cable at home. I spent all day reserving battery when I had my S4 cable in my bag the whole time. Doh!
I am getting one of these. So basically this is overkill right? Since 1.8a is max? Does the charge only cable benefit more in any way than a charge/data cable or are the charging amps the same?
Update.
I ended up getting the less amp USBC202M via Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0077PM3KG and ordered two Charging MicroUSB cables also from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009W34X1I
The cables are designed for full charge (just like being plugged into an AC charger) but in the car. I can charge my Note 3 and Tablet both with 1800mA each. The cables are straight 6FT heavy cables which are hard to break, and give you lots of room to use the phone or tablet while it is plugged in.
Just like having AC power in the car/truck with fast charge times
The difference between wall charging and usb charging, is that the wall charger ties the two usb data pins together. Phones detect that and charge slower on usb to protect computer ports from high current drain. Good car chargers solder together the two data pins to cheat the phone into thinking that is connected into a wall charger and thus charge the fastest possible.
You could find usb cables that internally connect the data pins, however that cable won't allow you to send data.
This applies to most usb charged devices, like android, iphone, ipad, etc.

I found my dual micro high current car charger on boxwave. It was cheap, and works great. No problems at all. The phone shouldnt pull more power then it needs. If so id check with tech services.

Don't worry. If the charger is required more power than is able to provIde it will just cut to the top.
Output of that plug states 10v 12w
Official note 3 charger is 5.3v 2amp I cant see how this could be good for your phone/battery.

Where does it say 10v?
Anyway, I've finally bought the Anker 24W, which is compatible with the Galaxy S5, so there are much higher probability to be compatible with newer devices like Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy note 4, etc.

Obviously this is a mistake, it's referring to input voltage.
12V USB Adapter
Input Voltage: 10-16V
USB Output Voltage: 5VDC, Dual 12 Watt (2.4A)
http://www.scosche.com/chargers/ipad-usb-car-charger-two-port
Note that some car chargers allow 12-24V because you can use also trucks and vans for charging. Doesn't seem the case for Scosche.

Shorted Micro USB Cable?

Looking for a cable that will quickly charge my Note. I had read previously that these cables need to be "shorted" in order to charge at full speed. Are there any available that come this way?

Go to a mobile shop. Ask for a shot cable for your Note. There are cables of different length available in the market.
Haha, I think we are confusing definitions, I am not referring to length but to wiring which allows the cable to charge the phone faster.
I tried the shorted cable technique. Caused my usb input on my phone to go haywire for about 2 weeks. I thought I was going to have to replace the usb board but it rectified itself somehow. I purchased some extra OEM samsung cables from ebay and they work great. They are even the 5ft version that came with an S4.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-ECB...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item53fd137786
OEM cables work the best even the S4 cables work well, I cant post a link but there is a seller on ebay that sells nothing but usb cables he sells original oem samsung cables located in usa single, 3 pack up to 10 packs of just the cables.
