Hey guys,
i was trying to deodex my 2.51.1 rom, but didn't work as expected.. don't have so much time :=) because an exam has to be taken on monday so:
short :=)
If you don't want to deodex, but want a black status, u don't want to flash a whole custom image, loosing all your apps? You want to have a "normal looking" menu button - menu :=) and you're running 2.51.1 latest blur version? -> you're right here
requirements:
running un-touched 2.51.1 blur image
root
todo:
- just install clockwork recovery image (don't wipe or clean anything)
Clockwork Recovery - get here
- just flash the BlueGinger Theme [Release] BlueGinger 2.3 UI ROM for Defy
everything done - black status bar :=) everything working as expected
(i read in the original thread some button should be in chineese, haven't seen anything yet :=) so, works great )
"problems:"
notification area now in english^^(came from german)
root explorer contained in rom in chineese
-> no real problems :=)
ps: AW == Answer ;=)

many many thanks ! worked like a charm !
And the best of it, i get rid of the default red colour !!!! oh yeah!
The only Problem was to find the clockwork recovery image thing.
Found it on another forum. The only thing that's not so good is that my notification area is now in english. But that is not so bad.

This worked yeah but wont leave your phone as stock as seemED suggested by crazyVII .First off livewallpapers no longer work even after reinstalling the 2 apk's for them.File manager is gone, gomarket is added.And most of the rom is from the chinese version
I would swap out some/all of the apk's before flashing this next time.Shouldnt you be able to just isolate the files modded for the black bar? have no idea which files but would be better to just add those to your existing rom.

i have a stock Froyo rom from tmo that i have rooted and overclocked.
here is my info under Settings>About Phone:
System Version: Cersion.34.4.9.MB525.T-Mobile.en.US
Android Version: 2.2.1
Build Number: 3.4.2-107_JDN-9
would this work on my phone? if so would i need to reroot and overclock?
any info would be greatly appreciated because the black status bar is the main thing that would make my phone perfect for me because it is fast as can be,battery life is amazing,and pretty much i have gotten rid of all that Blur crap in the phone so i dont really want to flash a completely differnt rom that may have bugs in it...
any help would be fantastic...

i dont think its gona work since you got a different kernel from the 2.2.2 and this rom is made for the 2.51.flahing it may cause a bootloop
