Why N1, Nexus S is available and better,
or Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC ( release date: April )

Nexus one is an awsome device.. I own one
But it has the same touch screen capability as X10 ---- > Dual touch
Considering the timely updates you get with nexus one... I think it is best bet.
I would recommend Nexus S

Well i bought a nexus one from google when they were available and it wasnt to long before i got rid of it for the X10 and havent regretted it yet.
Thats my thoughts.

how would you judge the two phones when it comes to the x10's 8megpix ??

xperia x10 with the all modifications.. same as Nexus S..

I wouldn't recommend nexus one because you are just exchanging for a pure Google experience product. Megapixel doesn't determine picture quality. Its all about the lens, sensor, and image processing software. Pix quality of course x10 is better than nexus one.
Go for nexus S or wait longer for dual core devices. X10 doesn't have Froyo and Nexus S's hardware doesn't perform as good as the hummingbird CPU in Nexus S.

Motorola Atrix
How long have you have your X10? I wouldn't change it before "squeezing" all its potential.
My advise: keep it at least one more half of a year, and then start looking for your next phone. Now, if you can't wait and if you wish to keep in SE's line, Arc is your option, but for me, is not a great phone, I only remark the Bravia Displa, Gingerbread and the HDMI plug-in, anything else is not a big deal.
Or Nexus S.

hey guys... thanks a lottt...
ive been using the x1 only fr about a few months..
tried out most of the roms out there
guys.. but dont you think the nexus one is worth it ?? its htc after all
plus... the AMOLED.. n when it comes to updates ????
comments pls

Correct me if i am wrong, but i remember nexus one have an exact same proc with x10, which mean it's not actually an upgrade if you change your x10 into a nexus one. The only better thing is RAM. --in terms of hardware.

If I where you, I'd try and remember why you bought the X10 in the first place. I mean, the Nexus One was already available when you bought your X10, so obviously it has some qualities that made you choose it in the first place. I am guessing it was the look of the device, and the camera, right? Those are the X10's biggest distinguishing features, so I would like for another Android device that comes close to those.
As far as camera is concerned, there probably is no better Android available yet. Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S is the next best thing in this regard?
As far as looks is concerned, nothing really comes close yet, in my opinion. Although I really like the way the HTC Desire Z looks for some reason (and I don't normally like HTC designs, too boring).
But why are we even talking about these old phones? Next month it's time for the Mobile World Congress 2011, during with numerous new Android phones will be introduced and some will even be released by then, with brand new hardware like dual core processors and new versions of Android that will make our current phones look really outdated. Right now seems like a bad time to switch to another phone: I would wait for just a little while longer.

no need to get N1, its the same gen as X10
if u want the best current gen phone then get HTC Desire HD / HTC Desire Z
the dual core phones will take a bit of time (3+ months) to come to market...

The Nexus One is ugly.
Stay with the X10 until dual core phones come out.

Honestly, it doesnt even seem like a question to me. Especially with the new roms that are wiping the floor with the other current gen phones. Just sayin.

If one is a color purist like me, then the AMOLED screens are a DISADVANTAGE, actually. And it's going to stay that way until a new-gen AMOLED arrives which doesn't mess with the saturations.

[Q] Upgrade from x10 to ??

Hey guys, first of all i want to thank all the developers for they help to make my x10 great. I dont know if I am writing on the correct place.. but whatever, i own a white xperia x10 and i want to change my phone and i am between Xperia x10 arc and Nexus S.. I dont know wich one to choose and wich one is better .. Which u think is better and why ? thanks
Id go for the arc, looks al lot better. And with the unlocked bootloader its got a nice future in terms of modding.
I'd agree, the Arc looks a lot better but out of the avaliable ROMs out there rdannar is coming up leaps and bounds.
He's doing a great ROM as part of X10Project that uses 2.3.4 and is based on the Nexus, but it easy to add the Arc filles that are dotted around through here using xrec like I ended up doing.
Arc for sure! And im not just saying that to be a SE fanboy. But if its possible, look at the galaxy s2 as well. Ive been looking at it more closely lately....and its got that "WOW" factor!

Believe me, it will be worth the wait to go with a dual core phone... The cpu in the arc will be outdated very shortly, better to go with a phone with some lasting power
+1 for sg2 although it hasn't got style but it's got substance, it's the opposite for Arc
Yeah im kinnda with you on this one arc as far as the looks go but s2 for its power (dual core nd all of that)

Multitouch and 16M colors

Hello, i have been searching for threads like this but i found only old ones. So is there a multitouch or a dualtouch (offical or unoffical way) in X10, and about 16M color? Yes or no?
Dual touch yes, multitouch no...
No 16 mill colours either
And there is no posibility for multitouch? HW limited? Is dualtouch fully working or it has any problems?
Oh, I am asking this because i am planing to buy X10.
Sorry for bad english

I don't think multitouch is possible.

Well, in my country the best SE phone avaliable is Xperia Arc (350€ new), but i am not planing on buying such an expensive phone, because my life style is very active, so phone easily gets damaged + Arcs headphone conector is not very friendly for listening to music, while phone is in the pocket. You almost cant get new X10 here, but used x10 is about 150-200€, or as I am planing exchange my Samsung Wave for X10. I like X10 more than Galaxy S, because it looks better and because it is Sony Ericsson ......you can suggest me another phone for about 150€-200€ (used) but it has to be Android and it must have got good audio quality.
Oh, and another question. Can I load offical 2.3.3 SE ROM to branded Xperia x10?
Sorry for bad english.

For this price it is a good phone. I owned a Samsung wave before too and I am satisfied with the x10 (better camera, bigger screen, better os)
Besides, with official Cyanogenmod support it isn't a totally outdated device.

Although @Scoobysnacks says it a terrible phone, I think installing customs roms and kernels make it exceptional at least for my needs and many others on this forum.
But if I were you I wouldn't buy the X10 as it pretty outdated (if not prehistoric ).
I think the Desire HD would be a decent step up from the X10 and would probably be a lot better when it comes to the user experience and doesn't look like an iPhone
But if you must get an X10 be sure to root it and install custom stuff as otherwise the experience will be lacking quite a bit.

HTC Desire HD? Really? Didnt I mention something about GOOD audio quality? Well if X10 is a missed choice, then my next favorite is Nexus S. Is this one better? And of course if I will buy Nexus I will wait for Nexus Prime to become available, so price of Nexus S will drop a little.

Switching from O1 to HTC Desire.

I'm selling my LG Optimus One and I'm buying a second hand HTC Desire for the same price, I think I got a fair deal. My prime reason for doing this is because the sound quality on the Desire by far exceeds that of the O1.
I am wondering guys whether you have some tips to give me before switching phones. Please share your thoughts and opinions about this deal. I'm setting my phone clean right now.
Thank you very much for the support here, thanks to you guys, my experience with my O1 has been wonderful.

Hey andy!
Im getting the Desire, not the Desire HD, that one's too expensive for me. :/
Concerning the phones mentioned previously, I had a look at the developer section for both here at XDA before opting for that, seems like there's quite some good stuff going on them.
You guys think I should sell my phone with stock ROM, or with CyanogenMod?

That's true, but I already agreed to the Desire. With the price difference between these two phones here, I can save myself quite some bucks buy myself a good pair of headphones.
I hope some cool developers will also port ICS to the Desire, or even the O1 in the future.

Xperia S or HTC One S

Hi guys, im thinking in buy a new phone, and ive been reading opinions between Xperia S or HTC one S. Xperia S has better screen, camera, memory... but i have the feeling that have more interface laggs and worse support from sony than htc one S. Im rlly confused, i think one S are more fluid than xperia... and i hate laggs QQ. Also xperia S has better resolution than One S, but has worse GPU, may it makes to the Xperia has lower FPS in games or browser...?
I hope u can help me with any smart comment
Thanks!

))exactley!!!it `s kinda a stupid question!of course everyone who has Xperia S would say that Xperia S is the one that you should buy
Xperia S is a "sexy" phone! HTC design is ugly as hell!
In my opinion the Xperia S is much better than One S but it`s your phone....and you should make the decision!
Xperia S has no lag if you keep it "clean"
Of course every firmware has his bugs but, from my experience(i had Htc One S before Xperia S) xperia s is more fluid than One S and the screen of Xperia is absoluteley brilliant!

This was a question i pondered for some time before buying the XS
In the end i went for the better looks, better screen and double the storage over the superior chipset of the One S. Benchmarks are great but in reality all they offer is bragging rights and don't reflect real world use. Im not even convinced dual core and quad core are of any use in a mobile.

Of course it is, what do you think project butter is all about.
unless you are big fan of sense UI.. there is just no comparison.. SXS wins hands down .. for me
I had 3 HTC's before getting the XS, don't like the design of the new HTC's (apart from the thinness) and not missing sense at all.
Well, thanks for the comments, i think ill buy xperia, i hope that will be the correct decision...

For starters, Xperia S has HD resolution vs qHD on the One S.
12MP camera vs 8MP
Beats Audio on the One S may be attractive, but Sony has it's own clearbass tech and EQs.
HTC Sense vs Sony Timescape UI. Depends on personal preference.
32GB vs 16GB
The krait cores of the One S does give it a performance boost over the Xperia S, but its only noticeable when running really intensive apps or webpages.
If the One S in your region comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8260(which is the same one as the Xperia S), overclocked to 1.7Ghz, the Xperia S will be the better choice since the One S has nothing much to offer.

Or if you like me, Razr Maxx is not such a bad deal either
About Nexus Phone, i understand that there are peoples who likes pure Android experience. But it is truly for enthusiasts who are willing to add any feature by himself. For casual user though, if you already have satisfying experience with some maker's interface/functionality (Small Apps or Smart Action), the Nexus is lacking though.. But that's just my opinion..

Yeah agree, but I need a phone under 250 Euros. And by the way I'm an extreme fan of pure Android/ pure AOSP roms, but I love Sony phones and every stuff. I've got sony PlayStations, TV, media player, Radio, Hifi etc. . I would choose Galaxy nexus if it would be cheaper than 250 EUR. Any recommendations under 250.-EUR?
I've also been looking for a replacement for my Ray and I've found some interesting chinese devices ( not copies ) that look extremely good and with great prices...only bad thing is that their development section is almost inexistent...
Yo dawgs, thanks for everything, the help, good luck to all the awesome developers for Ray, glad 2 see the community growing, people helpin people, Sadly I can't take part of it anymore. bought a red Sola.

And your signature showing you've been running it at 2 GHz...................................................
Sola was a good choice in my opinion, just don't do the same mistake that you did with the ray.
the only phone that is actually an upgrade its the xperia SX... same look, better perfomance, better screen, same size..
MM but our single core is almost the same perfomance of st Ericsson dual core chips.
I will go for Xperia S this Christmas I think, but ill keep my Xperia Ray ofc

Sadly I can't keep it, it's a pain that I could never try Android 4.2, and lots of roms for Ray which I should give a try. I'm happy and I bought my Sola, waiting for amazon 2 ship it, but sadly realized that Sola has almost no development. Only rethemed roms by noobs, a miui port, and the FXP cm9 which is buggy as hell and lots of things not working. But I think Sola is great enough to use without custom roms. Sony promised JB so I ain't got no worries.
