[Q] Default pdf reader - Optimus One, P500, V General

Does anybody know what is the default pdf reader installed on the Optimus One?

i think have no default but you can download some in market. Just search pdf

When I bought the phone I remember I could read pdf files without having to install any app. I'm asking because I've installed void and now can't anymore. I've tried Adobe pdf reader, but I liked the default one more.

ThinkFree Office, which apparently outperforms Adobe Reader on my phone.

Thinkfree lite doesn't seem to have an integrated pdf reader.

It works fine when I was on my stock ROM. What ROM are you using?

Void.delta, and you?

I'm using Light ROM. I reinstalled ThinkFree just to test this out.
Screenshots of TFO with a PDF file

From the look of the icon of pdf file it seems it relies on an external app, like I said.

I'm in the same boat.
If you find something that works fine, let us know.

how to read PDFs on Flyer's reader?

I have many PDFs i want to read on the Reader app that comes with the Flyer as i can note notes, comments and highlights.
i was wondering how can i import those into the Reader ? if they aren't via adobe Id nor ikobo?
thanks
You can use the PDF Viewer.
You can open the PDFs in the HTC Provided PDF Viewer. You can place the PDFs pretty much anywhere. It should find it, once you open the app. However you can also direct the program to open it from the menu button.
Also there are plenty of other options for viewing PDFs in the Android Market if you do not like the one HTC provides you.
Personally, I have all my PDFs in my MicroSD card.

yes the PDF Viewer can view the the file but its scrolling from top to bottom without the nice features in the Reader app:
Annotations
Bookmarks
Font Size
multiple reading scenes such as Night
i cant get PDFs into this reader app ?
sorry I misunderstood.
Depending on what type of PDF it is, you probably need to convert them into a epub file. After which you can add it like any other books.
Are you able to extract the taken in the Reader app?

i can view books in the Reader normally, but didn't know what do you mean about extracting ?
anyone knows how to read PDFs on HTC's Reader?
Like I said.
It all depends on what type of PDFs you are working with. If it is text based PDFs you can convert your PDFs into ePub. Like this Link. But I do not think this works with JPG based PDFs as you will not have any function of the reader, like using the Scribe pen. For PDFs with Jpgs I just use the PDF Viewer and you can still use your scribe pen, works great for my magazines and other PDFs that I have scanned and created into PDFs. Hope this helps.

[Q] Embedded PDF, PPT, or Word in browser

I wanted to reply to this thread but cannot since I have less than 10 posts. Regardless, threads addressing this problem are outdated.
I recently switched to Verizon and got a Fascinate from a friend. While I am enjoying the phone overall, there are a few glaring issues I have run into. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to read embedded pdf or other documents that normally open directly in the browser. My university uses these for their class management and I really need to be able to view them on my phone without downloading them ahead of time. On my old phone (apple) I could open and read these documents no problem. Is there a way to do this on android?
Thanks,
Evan
If your just looking to be able to read and save pdf files you can download adobe reader ,(it may actually be called adobe pdf) but either way its free on the market.
If that's not what you're looking for try downloading a different browser there's a ton of free ones, also on the market.

Adobe reader is good, and I have it. The problem is that the browsers do not prompt me to select or automatically open the PDF in adobe reader. Since it is embedded in the web page they just do nothing but load an empty frame where the file's content should be. I have actually found that Firefox will prompt and open these files in adobe reader or another document reader, but no other browser will.
Is there some setting I am missing with dolphin and the stock browser that would tell them to open these files in a standalone reader? I really like dolphin HD and don't think firefox is quite there yet (but it is the only browser that seems to open these files). To avoid confusion I found firefox after the OP, but am still looking for a better solution.

I know that Dolphin HD has an addon called PDF viewer for Dolphin.
you can check it out and download it here -> https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.mgeek.pdfviewer
Might be what you are looking for.
Good luck!
It appears that app only works for google docs. Even if this is not the case it didn't help my particular problem. Thanks for the suggestion

[Q] unable to read ebooks on SGT10.1

i searched the forum, didnt see this. maybe i over looked.
just got my galaxy tab 10.1 want to transfer some ebooks that i have downloaded from various places on it, so i have something to read.
problem. the books i have downloaded and dropped onto tab, i am unable to open. no program associated with files. what do i need to be able to get these books readable? is there a certain format i need to download? certain reader? any help is greatlt appreciated!!
my tab is rooted. not running a custom ROM (yet)
thank you
Download the Nook app from the market. Ebooks go into the sdcard/Nook/MyDocuments directory. Make sure that you organize your ebooks by /author/*.epub, the app doesn't like it if you just toss all your epubs into the MyDocuments folder.
There are several other ebook readers in the market if you don't like the Nook app for whatever reason.
Thank you. I have nook from market. Does it matter what the format is when I download?I'll be mainly dl from to my laptop then transferring over to my tab.
I use Calibre ebook management on my PC and GT10.1. It get's book covers, organizes by author and changes the format to whatever you prefer.
everything i've downloaded is PDF. and when i copy it over to my tab, i can't find it or it is unreadable. any other suggestion?
Go to the market, search "pdf reader" pick one.
Or you can download Calibre ebook manager onto your pc and convert the pdf files into .epub and use the Nook reader or whatever.

Download "Aldiko". I find it very good and easy to use reader. It supports PDF also.
I got aldiko and calibre. Going to try them both. Thank you for all the help!!
There is also an official Adobe Reader app and Quick Office should technically read them too, just sayin.

[Q] Adobe Acrobat reader for WebOS - bookmarks?

I bought the Touchpad to be a sheet music display, and I've made a nice PDF file of all the arrangements I play with my band, only to discover that the Adobe Reader on the touchpad apparently will display thumbnails but not bookmarks in my PDF file. I tried to work around it by creating a table of contents with hotlinks to each song, but apparently, hotlinks aren't working in the WebOS version of Acrobat reader, either.
Am I missing something or am I truly screwed here?
Is there a third party PDF reader that I should be using?
Anyone got any better ideas for a workaround?
If you're not opposed to it...here is a workaround. (You're not screwed)
Install Cyanogenmod alpha 2 to your Touchpad and use the android version of adobe reader. It works fine.
Thanks, but no thanks. I have CM7 on my Nook Color and I'll wait until they have something stable for the Touchpad.
Believe it or not, cm7 is really stable now, just give it a try, besides, you don't lose webos, it is dual boot (and you share the storage between both os)

no bookmarks on webOS adobe reader was a really big gripe of mine, i LOVE reading books on the touchpad, but remembering the page # every time got really annoying >:/ (ended up have to make a note in the note app with the book/page#)
im not sure theyre gonna even update adobe for webOS anymore either, but it DOES work perfectly on CM7 alpha
I believe this is what you are looking for. Someone hacked the adobe reader and it appears to have bookmarks now

great post for those who still use webOS
Dang, I thought that was just what the Dr. ordered, but the bookmarks implementation is the exact same thing as the thumbnails. I need the title of the page to display as a bookmark, not a thumbnail of the page. Darn it, so close.
blerg that sucks, perhaps you can peruse the app store and preware for a more suitable "ebook" reader that also supports PDF's
While Picsel smart office doesn't support bookmarks like you described, it can handle hyperlinks, so your revised PDFs may work. Note though, I only tested this on a single PDF file, so YMMV.

That sucks... you can always try posting your feature request on the thread. It seems the author has implemented others suggestions.

PDF Magazines...

I know some of them can end up quite big (lots of pictures/ads) but has anybody came across one that handles it ok? At the moment, when zooming about I get lots of problems (for example, pinch to zoom takes a while to re-render the font)
Or, should I put my magazine/pdfs through a program to a format that works well with android?
