How to get your Samsung Fascinate to DIAG the easy way - Fascinate Android Development

Finally got this damm thing to be recognized by QPST. First you have to be turn on usb debugging. make sure you have your hidden menu enable. To do that you press *#83786633 then press the Home key. Go back into the phone dialer and enter *#22745927. Now a box will come up asking for the SPC code. Enter 000000 Press the Hiddenmenu Enable radio button. Now get out of the screen. Dial **33284 and now your spc which is 000000 . Now go to port map and change to HFK,DIAG. Now everything should be ok. make sure that QPST is not running. Plug your phone to USB and dial **87284 and it should open phoneutil , now change just the USB to modem. Your computer will install the driver and should detect a Com port for diag. Open QPST or cdmaws, it should now detect it. have fun

What are QPST & cdmaws?

You can change the ESN this way?? Is it possible to fix a bad ESN phone if I have an ESN from a broken phone to use? I wasn't aware it was even possible to change an ESN

Yes, you CAN "technically" change the ESN, but it is against Federal Law in the USA, so it will not be discussed about here.

I forgot that the phone had different mode for different regions

interesting post....

I know what I am doing with this phone, I just have never used the dial up feature. I can cook dinner 3 blocks away with adb. I have bricked my phone (or shall I say voodoo has) countless times and I can recover it just fine without having to read instructions because I understand the system. I just was curious as to what this is.

Seriously .... go back to iPhone if you want to assume everything is the same. The carrier name is on the lock screen.
Why such a rude response? He was merely stating his observation, which I can understand since I thought the exact same thing. And no, I'm not coming from an iphone - I'm coming from a Nexus One.
You should be a little more considerate to other people, especially when you come asking for help yourself.

I don't think my response was rude. There are some people on here who just want to respond, weather it be productive or not. I apologize that I was short, but this isn't the format for coddling those who aim to boost their post count.
If someone asks a question, I wouldn't reply unless I was knowledgable in the matter. Someone who says the carrier name is in the top bar obviously doesn't have the phone, and most likely has an iphone, which I'm not sure why they'd even be here.
Either way, assuming he\she was responding with good intentions and mis-spoke, whats the point of telling me where to find the carrier name. Doesn't the fact that I'm asking how to CHANGE the carrier name make it crystal clear that I know and see the carrier name, but want to CHANGE it?
It crosses the line when someone talks to be heard. A wise man bites his tongue when given the opportunity to talk about something he doesn't know.

Hi just bringing this one back up as there is a lot of people that are looking to crack wpa from there phones and a lot of people looking to do so and again a lot of people saying it can't be done.
So 1 it can be done i can crack just about any wifi within 3 to 5 min from my android phone "that is a droid 2, got it for the keyboard ^^"
2 it will cost money as you need a remote server or you can use your pc but it will take a long time... but its free...
I'm not posting the apk that i made as its my tool "the hacker makes the tools, the tools don't make the hacker".
But here is the way to do it, all you need your phone to do it to get the handshake thats easy and light to do any smart phone are day's can do it + the cap file i light to so easy and fast to upload to a remote server.
here is were you need that remote server or pc running linux "backtrack if your lazy". once you uped your file to the server you can do all the rest over ssh again can be done no problem with your phone i do it every day "not just for hacking/cracking".
you run your scan to fin the password on your server + you don't even have to have your phone on all the time and don't have to stay next to the wifi spot to stay incognito.
and you done, you can even edit the app up to mail you when its found the key "i have not done this to lazy lol"
there i hope that helps some people to point you a way to the road of cracking wifi's.
peace out !!

In response to that long post, I'd have to agree with the guy above me... You're not cracking on the phone. Which IS possible.
I'd like to know how you put your wifi adapter in monitor mode. So far I have found no drivers for any Android fone except the notorious nokia that allow for monitor mode or injection.
Cracking can be done with the aircrack suite by passing the cap file to it. I run it under debian in a chroot that had r/w access to the Android and root filesystem.
Cracking works. Monitor mode doesn't. In short.
Edit: injection is needed for wpa2 de-Auth, which is needed to sniff the handshake. At least as far as I'm aware. I've never done it without booting a client off.
Are you sure you've even captured a handshake on yer f0ne?

There have been a "team" which had successful edited a driver allowing for bypassing the kernel blablabla **** in short term the wifi chipset bcm something is running in monitor mode but the kernel / driver only takes a bit of the info passed from the wifi chipset.
What those guys did was editing the driver = allowed monitor mode. But I think that the thread is a bit dead now

Big questions!

Friend gave me a new S2 today, never been turned on or activated. Didn't ask any questions.
So my question is, should I unlock it? Is unlocking it free?
Whats the easiest method to root the phone with?
What kernel & rom would you suggest using?
P.S. I'm not going to be using this as a 'phone' I'll be using it more for entertainment purposes like gaming and videos & such, looking for a rom with the most amount of free ram & internal memory available.
Thanks.

Maybe you should have asked some of these "big questions" when your friend randomely gave you a brand new £500 phone.
Here, this is what I'd do. Carefully remove the back cover of the phone, making sure not to bend or snap the plastic, then place the phone screen down on a soft surface (such as a mousemat). Proceed to take the battery out without damaging the dock connectors and place it down next to the phone. Now this is the tricky part. Look for a micro sd card stored secretively in a hidden compartment below the SIM card storage and behind the battery. Upon reading it, if it contains the real name, location and corresponding code name of hundreds of undercover secret agents in the field I suggest you give the phone back to your friend... no questions asked.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 T-Mobile Forgotten Passcode

I've forgotten my combination for the pass code and have no way getting in. I've tried the method where you goto emergency contacts and then press home and immediately turn the screen off. Though it does't work because even if I press the sleep button, I don't see a glimpse of the screen. I cant just factory reset it because I have very important information on it. I've thought of a method, but I'm not sure if its gonna work. My method is
1. Install clockworkmod
2. Backup all the files
3. Factory reset the phone
4. Restore the files
My question is will it work? Will i have all my files back and will my phone be in the same format as before? Will there be no passlock anymore?
I would recommend taking proof of purchase to your carrier to see if they can help. Please understand if your intentions are honest and we help you, we're also helping people with dishonest intentions.

As for will it work, no it won't, there is a very logical reason why it wont as well.
