Missing Apps on Rooted Global Generic - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
Hope you can help. Am at my wits end. I peformed a clean, official reflash via SEUS this weekend as I had made a mess of my build.prop file and a lot of apps had disappeared from the market.
I'm now running Global Generic, 024
I thought this would solve my woes, but several days later, I am still missing a number of apps, most notably the new Amazon UK app. In fact no official Amazon shopping apps appear. A few others are missing too, but Amazon seems a good benchmark as it's new, international and free - no reason for it not to be there.
I've cleared every cache, I've uninstalled Market updates, I've rebooted countless times, I've changed the clock to 2359 and left it 10 minutes. I've reinstalled the market apk. I've even used Root Explorer to check the Market data and the fingerprint is registered. I'm absolutely stuck.
Have I missed anything? Can anyone confirm they've succeeded in downloading the Amazon UK app? Can anyone get me out of this coz its driving me crazy!
Thanks so much for reading and hopefully helping!

Just to clarify, I have waded through various things on this forum for hours - I also tried Market Enabler - I even tried spoofing with my own SIM code in ME!

OK - I've reflashed (again), I've tried leaving wifi unconfigured and just using 3G, I've tried booting with no SD card in case there's an offending file there. I'm really running out of ideas. PLEASE - someone step up to the bar and give me some more ideas!

try my tutorial

Thanks - I have more apps now, but the Amazon ones (all countries) are still missing.
Can anyone confirm that they DO have the Amazon UK app appearing in their market on the x10?

Try and install it from the new Android Market website.
https://market.android.com/search?q=Amazon

Thanks - but all the Amazon apps are greyed out and say "Not Compatible With Your Device".
I have the .apk - but there's clearly something wrong here and I want to get that fixed - both for peace of mind and my own bloodymindedness!

UPDATE: It looks like Amazon are either telling porky-pies or the developer has goofed. I can confirm that Amazon is not available on the ZTE Racer either, suggesting that despite claiming that it is available on 2.1, it's not appearing in the market.
It does work from an .apk, suggesting it's a mistake.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Hmm I can see when I try to install it, It says that the app is Carrier Specifik.
So I guess you would have to be on the right carrier to get this app.

My mate on O2, running Froyo can get it. I can't get it on 2.1 spoofing O2 on Market Enabler.

Quick update..... having discovered that it is missing from the ZTE Racer and GT540 too, I called customer services who assured me it was available to 2.1 users. Despite a flurry of calls from a very helpful chap over the past two weeks, their dev still hasn't managed to fix it.
Strikes me that this is a pretty epic fail for such a big company. There are threads about it on some other forums, but I was apparently the first person to report it. Shows how relatively few are the people who want an Amazon app, still running 2.1...

[Q] App Not Compatible with kaosfroyo v39?

Hello,
I'm fairly new to all this so forgive me if this question is a dumb one but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere (I have been looking for a couple days now). I even contacted the app devs but they couldn't give me an answer either.
Anyhow, after installing and using a demo/trial version of an app I decided I would like to purchase the full version of that app. I went into the Android marketplace and have literally looked everywhere and can't seem to locate the full version of the app for purchase, just the trial version. So I looked for it on my Wife's phone (exact same phone - HTC Droid Eris). However, her phone hasn't been rooted or flashed - everything is stock. The full version of the app IS available on her phone (so that probably rules out an issue with the Android Marketplace and is probably something to do with my phone). Here are some things I have already tried:
- uinstalled the demo/trial version of the app
- went into the file system on the phone and made sure all related folders for the trial version were removed
- wiped the cache
- re-flashed my phone (updated from kaosfroyo v38 to v39)...just to clarify the full version of the app was not available with either version of kaosfroyo
- flashed a different version of froyo (don't remember the name but it didn't work anyhow with finding the full version of the app), then reflashed kaosfroyo v39 again
Any ideas? It seems like for whatever reason the full version of the app isn't compatible with my phone (but it is with my Wife's phone which is completely stock), which is why it isn't available for me - but its weird that the trial version is available and works flawlessly.
To clarify, app in question is called 'Pykl3' - its a radar app. I need/want this app because its the best option out there for people who chase storms - like I do (so a basic radar app won't do)...I would like something for my phone for when I'm not right next to my laptop. I know there are a couple other options out there but this one seems to be the best.
Thanks for the help in advance...

A couple of things you can try... If you're using Amon-ra recovery, Boot into recovery and fix uid mismatches under other. Another option that could help is install Eris Market Fix from the market, run that, reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache, reboot phone then try looking for your app in the market. Be sure to do a nand backup before running the fix just in case. Hope that helps.
The Eris Marketplace Fix seems to have taken care of the problem. Thank you very much for the help!
after hours of searching !! thanks!!
the eris market fix helped me.

[Q] How to bypass new market checks? (not talking about licence related checks)

I'm surprised to see I am the only person I have seen with this issue; either that or I'm looking in the wrong places. About a week or so ago, my android market was updated to the newest version, ever since then it has been a nightmare. apps that I have been using for over a year now say there not compatible, when I know for a fact they are. I recently flashed the latest CM7 nightly and when I brought the market back up, some of my apps said they were already installed when they in fact were not, however there was no way to override this so I just seemed to be sol.
The final straw was this; I wanted to install "multiling keyboard", so I went to the market and there was no download button to be found. So I went to the market on my PC and found that it listed my EVO and my modded HD2, it said the app was compatible with both handsets believe it or not. However it said the the app was already installed on my EVO, which at the time it was not. I searched for hours and found no way around this. So I tried a different Google account, thinking maybe it was linked with that account. I then searched for the app again, and believe it or not, It then told me that the app was not compatible, log back into the other account, and the app is listed as compatible but also listed as already installed with no way to override.
So now I find the only way to install certain apps is to uninstall the market updates so it goes back to the old market, then I can download whatever I want no questions asked. However its only temporary because within 15min it will automatically update itself again.
Get titanium, freeze market updater. Had the same issue
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Ok I froze the market updater, and then downgraded the market app from 3.0.27 to 2.3.6. It seems to be working, I'll post back if I have any issues.
However even though this is a fine workaround for now, does anyone know of a way to just fix the issue? obviously we all cant just stay at an older version of the market forever.
Google has been rubbing me the wrong way for about a year now, but this has really got my blood boiling. I don't need someone telling me what they think is already on my phone what whats not. I also don't need someone telling me whats compatible and whats not. I can fully understand licensing restrictions, don't like 'em, but i get it. but as for these new checks they implemented, there needs to be a bypass feature. Either have a "I am not an idiot" setting in your account, or just a button that says "I understand the risk, Install anyway". But this is ridiculous, something has to be done. I have already sent Google a letter, doubt anyone will read it, but i sent it.
I would also love for a solution to this... not a reversion...
Anybody out there have any clue where to start? I have been searching high and low and cant find much of anything.
ITS THE LCD DENSITIES! lol. Do you change your lcd density to? Because when I change mine back the market works fine
I never thought of that, but yes I do change my LCD density, I have it set to 200 instead of 240. That explains the incompatible issue. I'm still sol though, I'm not going to change my build.prop every time I want to use the market. Also I'm still having issues with it saying that apps are already installed on my phone when they are not.
Thankfully ugothakd's suggestion is working great for now. I hope we can get this figured out. If not its just going to end up being one of those things we will have to wait forever for Google to fix.
android market compatability issues
Thank you ugothakd! I change my density from 200 to 240. Now I have access to google maps and youtube. Really sucks though I like my density set to 200. I am surprised that people are not having more problems with this dumb market.
I don't mean to bring this back from the dead. But has there been any word on this issue? I'm still stuck at an old version of the market. I've tried updating and every time I still have the same issues. Its all over my screen density, if I change it from 200 to 240 the market works fine.
I have the same issue my self i have a htc desire and now with new market to apps that are missing
if i click on link in google to point to market for app all i get is this app ain't compatible with your device when i know for fact that it do
im starting to get pissed off with it as i used the new market before it was released over here in uk and now after i update my cm rom this is all i get or the app don't show in first place
google really need to add an option to disable this feature ie under options for people who know the risks of trying to run apps that may not be intended for the device as i personally have found nearly all apps work on my phone rarely come across any that don't even all the old apps tend to work if anything this new feature is a pain in the rear so so annoyed at this
P.s screen density has nothing to do with it with me i found new market added a new device to my list yet it's the same phone i leave my screen at 240 its default hope this gets sorted soon
Sorry to bring up an old thread but has anyone resolved the issue. I love my LCD density at 180 and setting it back to 240 just to install an application really irks me.

[Q] market fix for updated market

has anyone come up with a fix for the new market? Mine just keeps force closing. I need my market back. HELP! PLEASE! I've tried everything and nothing works. I searched the forums and tried all the information given in the those post and got no change. I would try just about anything at this point. I even deleted my browser as suggested by another senior member. nothing is working. any suggestions?
Might help to let us know what firmware you're running.
I've never had any problems with the current Market running Brilliant Corners.
Settings/languages and keyboard/ and set default language to English. Problem solved for me. Found that solution by searching these forums. Might depend on what ROM you are using. I'm on CM7.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Wow, that worked for me. I changed the language from some other English to English United States and now the Market doesn't force close.
Btw - I'm on Vegan 7.0.0
not just a firmware problem
I'm running C/CV6 but I've read through these forums several times over the last few days and I've learned one thing for sure. It's not a firmware problem. It's a problem in the update process itself I believe. I'm not a programmer by any means but after reading severals posts regarding this problem, I was able to see that this issue is hitting all the different ROMs across the board. So if it was a ROM issue then it would be confined to just those users. The only thing in common between all users is that their market was working fine, they got the update, and now their market force closes. I have done several different things trying to repair the problem, but was unsuccessful at resolving it. I tried the whole default English language thing in my settings. Didn't work. I deleted my Dolphin browser. Didn't work. I cleared the market cache. Didn't work. I unistalled the update. Didn't work. Each time I made a change, I restarted the tablet so that the changes may take effect. I would really like to get this working. I was about to put some of those classic game emulators on my tablet and some games but I don't wantto go to all the trouble in case I have to wipe the whole tablet and start over entirely. I'd rather not do that either if I don't have to. Thanks for any help guys, all suggestions at this point are welcome.
UPDATE: I just turned my tablet on and the market is now working but it' still the old version. I imagine once it updates, it will start doing this crap again.
keyboard language
I changed my keyboard to "English US" and now my market works again.
I'm on gtabcomb 3.3 bl1.2
Thanks for this help.

[Q] Apps purchased since switch to Google Play won't download?

I seen posts here about apps showing up as purchased that aren't. My case is different. I purchased apps, via Google Play, and now can't download them. Not just to my Xoom, but also my SGS2. I've tried all download fix options on the Google site, even talked to a tech (who asked I do them again, and then respond via email).
Another option would be to do a factory wipe/reset. Since I'm playing around with ICS, I decided to revert back to factory on the Xoom and try again. Still no luck. Just stays at "Starting download". No percentage. No little "downloading..." message under it. Can't even cancel it from downloading.
There probably won't be a real solution here, but while I wait for someone from tech support to get back to me, I may as well ask here. It couldn't hurt.
And I've tried the following options:
Cleared the cache and/or data
Uninstalled updates
Logged in and out of the "Talk" app several times
Rebooted
Tried requesting from the store web page on my desktop
Tried over different wifi networks
Tried over Verizon
Tried over AT&T
Tried with ICS 4.0.3
Tried with Gingerbread 2.3.6
Tried with Honeycomb 3.2.6
Tried with a factor reset/wiped Xoom (using .img files directly from the Motorola web site)
I have plenty of free space available
Did I miss something somewhere? I know if this doesn't get resolved, both of my android devices will have become useless to me.

Everything works now. Contacted Google about it, although they weren't of much use. Within a couple days it miraculously worked again.
But, even when switching back to factory, some apps I downloaded no longer seem to work for tablets. Go figure...
This seems to be a wide spread problem that occurs when first updating to the Play Store. I've seen numerous posts in different forums and for different phones about this issue. From the posts that I've read it usually seems to clear itself up after days of the update. Just give a day or two and try it again.

[Q] APK install issues

I recently found the newest version of Weatherbug Elite but when i try to install it just and after waiting for about 20 seconds (seeming like it installs) it says Application Not Installed. Any way to trouble shoot this? I downloaded the version a couple times from different sites and it doesn't seem like its the download. I recently wiped my phone quite a few times so im sure its not my phone but just a setting. Anyone give me some hints on how to fix?
This isn't a free app and discussion of warez is not allowed here if thats what you are talking about when you refer to different sites. Either switch to the free version or buy it from Google Play.
I do not appreciate your accusation of stealing an app. My lack of explanation might have prompted it however your approach could have been better. I changed my Gmail account a year ago and instead of purchasing it twice I have just been downloading it. I'll figure it out myself.

There might be a .Odex file of the app in data/app. Delete and try.
