[Q]Bootanimation problems? - GT540 Optimus Themes and Apps

i upgraded my gt540 to 2.2.1 and ever since 2.1 i cant see my boot animation!
does anyone know how to fix this?

Download a bootanimation, one that uses the same screen resolution as ours. Then using rootexplorer go into your sd card and find the bootanimation.zip file and move it to /system/media and paste it there you should now have a boot animation

kk going to try it now.

just turned my phone on after doing what you said, still didnt work, just a vibration and then a blank screen

Paste in data/local and it should work

This isn't Segoe, but is the best font hands down. Gives the Zune look.. I got it a few months back from a SGS thread, and it was called "Revolution Font"
Edit: Goes PERFECTLY with Cypius's "Slate3D_Universal" skin

Are the flashable font packs from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801160 compatible with the 3D?
I made a few flashable font packs that I used on my 4G that I would love to flash onto my 3D now... and no, sorry I can't share them because they are copyrighted files
Font Changer works for me as well...I just choose reboot later and then use the reboot option when you hold the power button down, works great...
I also go to www.fontsquirrel.com and grab fonts from there, of course you have to unzip them, so I actually DL them on my PC, unzip JUST the TTF part of it and then push the file to my phone with the disk drive option enabled...I have already gone through about 3 fonts today and I'm sure I will be going through more...
Looks amazing! Thanks again! Also, you can unzip zipped folders with ES File Explorer.

Can you show me a screenshot of this?
Somethin went nuts with my phone. I copied and paste the 3 files in system/font, backed out of root ex, turned off my phone but the led lights stayed on and I tried to turn it on again but it didn't work. So I wiped cache and dalvik. Same thing! Wouldn't turn on. So i nandroid and it fixed.
Would permissions effect that?
Not sure. But there isn't anything bad that'd happen if you did.

xTMFxOffshore, what worked for me is downloading the .apk from link 4, moving it to the system /app folder via root explorer, changing permissions to rw-r--r--, then changing the owner to 0-root and group to 0-root, and renaming the original LatinIME.apk to LatinIME2.apk and renaming the downloaded .apk to LatinIME.apk and rebooting. Hope this works for you. The only difference I saw however is that I wasn't able to find the original back in the same folder.. lol. so back it up like fnztakedown suggested if you wanted to switch back later

To elaborate on what others have said, you only need root because you only need to be able to access the location of where the boot animation resides.
I believe there are two locations you can change, though I have always done so at /system/media.

Make sure you've renamed the zip to bootanimation.zip. Throw it in system/media. No permission change is necessary.

well I add to the part on desc, txt s Bionic.oog then I rezip and name bootanimation.zip.... in system.media naming other customboot animation someone else made bootanimation.zip.bak(which fires work so IDK y mine doesn't.... and turn off, restart device.... I've played with permissions too. no luck

Did you download the bootanimation in post #8?
If you are using ES File Explorer, go to settings and make sure "Mount File System" is checked.
You should not have to change permissions. Since you have been changing the permissions, they should be checked as follows
User: Read; Write
Group: Read
Other: Read

Yeah, I'd like to get about 5 more made up or so, that would be cool. I already have one finished that I made for SHOstock ROM back on the SGH-I777 (SGS2). It never got released to the user base because Shoman was able to make his next ROM a JB so we ditched that one. I can just change the text and render it out again.

LGOG_Jank4AU_Bootanimation_CWM.zip - 3.59 MB
LGOG_Stock_Bootanimation_CWM.zip - 3.27 MB
*if you like this bootanimation, don't forget to thank Jank4AU*
the stock one is just the plain LG one that I got from my Bell E973. these install into you data/local therefor leaving your original intact. data/local will override system/media. essentially it'll look there first and if there isn't bootani there then it'll use the one in you system/media
or instead of flashing the stock one you could just delete bootanimation.zip in data/local and it should bootup with your original bootanimation from system/media
Should have another, new boot animation zip and video up a little later this afternoon.

I didn't try the flashable zips. I've just been putting the boot zip on my internal sd card and using ES File Explorer, moving it directly to /system/media manually. Just rename your original boot animation zip to .bak to keep it without overwriting or deleting. Try that.

The easiest way would be to reflash the rom. Or, you could try connecting it to your computer and see if you can access the sd cards that way.

Music on reboot or start

Hi. I tried to put this on the development thread but I dont have the proper permission. I flashed scroslers vrall4 stock rom. All is good except when I restart or reboot I get a musical theme that I can't shut off. I found the wave file, over the horizon, and first changed the name. That did not work. I then deleted the file and that did not work. Anyone know how to eliminate this. Thanks. GA
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Try system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
That should be the boot up audio.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the reply. I know about that and changed the name of the pwr on and off files. The music starts after the samsung light show during a start or reboot. Its like the file is somewhere else other than where you would expect it. I deleted it from the ringtones folder which was the only folder I could find it. It still plays so its somewhere. Its a mystery!
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Does that ROM, even though it's stock-ish, support custom boot animations? The boot animation might be calling a different file. Try finding the boot animation and see if it is calling a different audio file?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Okay....I'm on the hunt. Let you know
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Well. I have tried to find access to folders or files having anything to do with boot animation and struck out. I also checked titanium backup to see if there was an app that was obvious to freeze. No joy there either. Probably going to flash a different rom and see if that helps.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Update.... my problem has gone away however I'm not sure what I did to fix it. Downloaded the 23 toggle app from the theme and app section. Tried to flash it in twrp, which failed because it did not recognize the zip. When I rebooted the music was gone and everything is as it should be. I guess there was a loop in the bootloader that trying to flash another app somehow repaired. Noob dumb luck strikes again!
