[Q] screen freezes and does not boot - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I bought my HTC HD2 two weeks ago, and when I received it, it had a ROM of a 3.14 Version with a Radio of 2.15.50
(RUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship). The previous buyer told me he had Android Running on SD Card.
When I started "playing" with the phone, I got a lot of Screen Freezes during any app (Internet, Mail, Facebook). Not only did the screen frooze, but also did the no longer start up properly. Either it didnt hang during the Logo, or when entering the PIN. Even during Hardware resets it frooze sometimes.
As the described ROM from above not the "real" supported ROM for THAT HD2 is, I flashed the original 1.72 Version with a Radio of 2.07.51 (RUU_Leo_TMO_DE_1.72.111.4_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship downloaded directly from HTC.com).
I thought, maybe its the ROMs problem. However, now I face the same problems and start to think the problems are hardware related. Am I correct there, or do you guys have any other thoughts?

Could be hardware related indeed.
Did you try to run your device without SD card?
Sometimes, older SIM cards can also cause trouble.
And finally, what SPL is on your device now? You can check this information in the bootloader screen.

I have a SPL-2.08.0000 (not HSPL). I run it without the SD Card aswell, but i got the same issues. Since I still have warranty on the phone, do u think I should make use of it and send it in? but then I want to make sure, that there are no traces on my phone that I installed some Android NAND versions...

mine is t-mobile, but a GERMAN t-mobile, I'm not having the US-version. but what did u do? did u get a fix?

now my phone is stuck again in the boot logo, which gives me the perfect opportunity to write down all the details:
R 2.07.51.22~2
G 15.32.50.07U
D 1.72.86525
anything wrong with that? I flashed the rom, which i downloaded directly from HTC.com (the only capable for my phone (TMOU GERMANY))

Well, you do have the older T-Mob ROM, combined with a newer SPL.
Try to flash SPL 1.66 with the program HSPL2.exe before sending it anywhere, then make a hard reset. Re-try again with the SD card out, in the worst case, there might be some buggy data in the application data folder (if there is one).

Thank you. with the SPL 1.66 Windows is running smooth again. But what caused all the crashes in the 3.14 version with SPL 2.08 or in Android NAND Versions with 2.08.HSPL ?? I think if I send my phone in for warranty, they tell me everything is fine with the phone....

The official 3.14 ROM shouldn´t run with any other SPL than 3.03.
NAND ROMs require MAGLDR, and this, on the other hand, requires HSPL 2.08. If there was still a different SPL on your device (which should be checked by the tool, as far as I remember, and therefore, I don´t know if that´s possible), you might have to source of problems.
The 2 major sources of problems are a) a wrong Radio ROM or b) a corrupt SD card, in some rarer cases an older SIM card.
If your system and device are running properly now, I think it might be indeed a waste of time to send it to a service center. If you like, it might be worth to give another try with a proper installation: Put HSPL 2.08 on your device, then Radio ROM 2.15.50.04, then MAGLDR 1.13, and then a nice Android NAND build.
No need to ever boot into Windows once you start all that flashing stuff.

I gave it a try, but for some reason I am unable to flash any rom anymore. I tried to flash it via SD card and via the .exe file through the bootloader. Through the .exe file the process only proceeded until 8 or 10% and aborted. Through the SD-Card it only showed the grew screen for a few seconds and returns to bootloader with "Upgrade ROM code error Please try again"
Apperantly I did something wrong, but I dont know what. Ytd I was still able to flash the original stock windows 1.72 rom from sd card, but even that one is not working anymore.

I also tried installing only the radio rom, but that fails somehow as well. I flashed Radio Rom
Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14
Leo_RADIO_2.14.50.02
Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2
which i found in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
they flash to 100% but then I get a message on the phone "Software update failed. Please try again" and the computer says "This Update cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please check your update Utility.

anyone has any idea?
i dont know what to do anymore, the only flashing that works is hspl. i dont want to try magdlr, since the rom before hat a .51 radio, but i cant flash roms or radios....
i need some help, please.

If you tried everything, and only the official 1.72 ROM runs properly, the last remaining tip would be task 29. But I´m afraid, now that we can exclude almost everything, that the service center might be a good idea.
I would re-flash the latest ROM, which doesn´t perform well as you write, and send the device in to get it fixed.

what is task 29? I havent heard about it till yet? I will give it a try. Currently I'm trying all combinaitions to at least get 1.72 to get flashed again. This one isnt flashing either right now.

big news:
I have no idea why it worked but it did.
After flashing the entire night with different methods and ROMs and Radios, I almost gave up, and thought my phone is bricked. However, i didnt touch it at all until this afternoon.
First I run HSPL.2.08 again,
then I tried to flash the Stock ROM via SD didn't work.
then I tried to flash the Stock ROM via USB: here it used to stop at 10% and gave me an error.... this time it stopped at 10% for like 30sec and then continued!!!
So now I put SPL.1.66.0000 again to have it in original condition. Can I send it in under warranty like this? Every trace has been removed, correct?
I still don't know what is wrong with the phone. 48h ago, when nothing worked, the only flashing method which did work was via SD. Then I was at branded T-mobile Windows 6.5 on a 1.72 ROM. (Basically exactly where I am now) However, THEN I tried to flash to a higher ROM (3.14) to have a radio of .50 (to flash MAGDLR etc). but this never succedded and I ended up with one flash error after the other.
For a moment I thought my Radio is broken, since I could not flash any Radio. However all the radios i tried to flash were .50 radios. The radio of the current 1.72 ROM is however a .51 version. Does that mean I have some sort of "Radio-Lock" on my phone?
If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know, but I think I dont wanna flash anything until I get the device back from HTC. However, once it get it back, how do I know that I can flash to the higher ROM again?? I am very cautious and distrustful to my phone right now.

I am not sure your problem is due to the radio rom. And... yes you can upgrade your radio rom. I encourage you to search and read on the subject before doing it. If it is the first time you flash your hermes, you have to know that it is not difficult but requires some care. At least you have to know that upgrading the radio rom is a bit more sensitive than other parts of the rom (OS for example) You are the only responsible if it fails. The risk exists that you brick your phone.
That said, a lot of users are flashing their hermes more than once a day . Personnally i use the SDcard method which is very easy. I do not remember how many times i flashed my Tytn...
Start to look at guides here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299462 (the method is the same for all radio roms)
There is a way to limit the risk of bricking the phone here : http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27

1> Did you install the HARDSPL version 7?
2> If this is done, copy the "RUU_signed.nbh" file of the radio rom on a sd card just formated (fat32) and rename the file HERMIMG.nbh. It has to be the only file on the card if you want to be sure that it works.
3> Fully charge the TYTN.
4> Insert the card and start the SPL process (OK / POWER and soft reset). You will get the 3 colors screen directly followed by another one showing what you have to do to upgrade the radio rom
Be aware that the radio rom upgrade is slow. It gives the impression that it could stop. Just be patient.
And... once again, you are the only responsible if it bricks your phone

I am still a newbie. I just got my phone fixed by Softbank (they said the manufacture fixed it by changing its mainboard). I got same radio, 1.46.00.10. My old mainboard's radio was 1.41.00.01, and it stuck at the same radio whatever I did to upgrade it. I think it's because Softbank put something to prevent us from upgrading the radio. Well, I am not sure though. I'll explore this more. I hope I won't get any problem with this radio

Updating/Upgrading a HTC Cingular 8525?

Hi there everyone.
I have just bought a new HTC Cingular 8525 but it is running windows mobile 5. I would like to upgrade but I cannot find any downloads or instructions on how to do so. I do not want to brick up my new phone. Does anybody know a download link to upgrade to the latest windows mobile version that will work on my phone. Its an american bought phone which is unlocked and I am using it in the UK on Three. It used to be locked to at&t and I am pretty sure much of the at&t rubbish is slowing my memory and speed of the unit. If I were to upgrade will the phone still be unlocked?
Rom version is 2.15.502.3
Rom date is 04/09/07
Radio version is 1.40.30.00
Protocol version is 32.73.7020.16H
Operating system is (build 15706.3.5.2)
I am all new to this and would appreciate any advice idiot proof I have flashed many PSPs and other things but nothing like this.
As I have just got the phone I am still trying to work out how to use it so I have no idea how to do a Hard or Soft reset and have no idea about the roms
Sorry to waste your time
Please help
Rob
You should read through the Hermes wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Make sure you install hardspl! If you install the "official" AT&T WM6 install hardspl again, your phone will stay unlocked, even with custom roms. If you flash one of the big storage roms, then go to try another, flash the "official" rom before flashing another custom rom.
Read the wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
I would also suggest making sure your phone is "super cid" before flashing custom roms, you'll also be able to flash from an sd card if you are super cid.
Read a bunch before flashing any radio roms!!!
Read, read, and re-read before you flash, and you should be fine. They have made the process fairly straight forward, but you can never be too sure. I have never "bricked" my phone, and I jumped in with both feet!
Mustn't flash a lot then because if you did you will end up with a brick sometime... I've always been able to recover my Hermes but there is STILL the possibility it won't.... one day...

I guess I have been lucky, but I'm sure I haven't flashed as much as others on here. But, I tried to follow the wiki, and tried to learn from others mistakes before I made some of my own. So, I figure if I can flash my Hermes, others should be able to do the same. And I have read up on the issues for when you "brick it", just in case.
I flashed several roms from the beginning (when I got my hermes), and learned a bunch. Then found what I needed/wanted in a rom, and spent days and days and days reading through many threads to find ones that fit me. I actually tried not to flash too much, but that can be a hard temptation to overcome.
So, just trying to pass on what has worked for me, to avoid the hard resets and such.
I would like to attempt cooking my own rom, and have read through tons of info on it, and played with some kitchens. Still working on learning that stuff, it'll give you a good appreciation of what the chefs around here do.

I haven't ran into that one, but I went to the top of the page, clicked search, and typed in "error 260" (without the quotes). And got this http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...r+260&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

It tells you how to Hard SPL your Hermes with the sd card method. It also gives you ALL the apps needed.
After you Hard SPL your phone you can use the sd card method to flash a new OS. Flashing a new OS though requires you to drop steps 5 & 6 (you don't need sspl.exe once you have Hard SPL). Just remember though that the bootloader won't recognize any sd card bigger than 2gb...
Cheers...
Thanks for that. Its just now I have a problem where my phone is stuck on the Tri-Colour screen
Did you format the sd card fat32 (they are default format FAT) and rename the .nbh file to "hermimg.nbh"?
Is the sd card 2Gb or less?
You're on bootloader, is your SPL 1.09 des? If yes then insert the sd card and reset.
Cheers...
it might be an issue with activesync
i read somewhere before that activesync 6.1 won't sync with WM6 on vista machines.
I had to downgrade mine to ActiveSync 6.0 to get mine working again.
just an idea that might work

Help! Problems with flashing ROM.

I have a HTC Hermes and I have been having some problems with my phone. I read on some threads that people have been having similar problems and a possibly solution would be to change the ROM and/or the Radio.
SO NOW I have been trying to update the ROM yet it keeps coming up with errors.
Errors: [222]- Device not responding.
[260]- Update Error
I have tried MANY things. Vista, XP, putting PPC in boot loader mode before hand, not using boot loader, changing settings of Active Sync (disable connection through USB). Each of these things have been tried off and on multiple times, to ensure the problem was not just a one time thing.
Please let me know if there are any known solutions. I am hoping this will solve my random hard resets, frozen screens, and data loss.
Pda: Hermes 100
Rom: Pays Lite
Radio: 1.16.00.00
Did you flash HardSPL on your device? If not, you may be stuck, depending on what the issue is. Regardless, if you're getting connection-related errors when trying to flash, you should try using another cable as that may be a contributing cause to your issue.
yes I believe I did. Actually when i go into bootloader it actually says Olipro (aka Hard SPL). And yes I have tried various cables, not just one.
Use sd card method.
1. Format sd card fat32 and copy .nbh file to it. Rename to "hermimg.nbh".
2. insert sd card in phone and go to bootloader (hold power, ok key above flywheel and reset with stylus, hold in until the tri-colour screen appears).
3. As long as sd card is fat32 and herimg.nbh file is named properly, follow the prompts.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF HARD SPL V7 IS INSTALLED (I know you said you have it but this is a warning for others)...
Cheers...
I have heard about this step but to be honest I havn't heard of file formats nbh. I have a rom that I am using now (which I do NOT want to use anymore) that has a nbh file in the folder. BUT the ROM that I want to use (TNT and 1.19 Radio) do NOT have this file format, it does have .nbf though. Is there a difference and could you please give me some more help. Maybe some advice about where I could get nbh files for ROMs?
Thank you once again
Pda: Hermes 100
Rom: Pays Lite
Radio: 1.16.00.00
An NBF file is not a Hermes ROM. The Hermes (and later devices) always use NBH files. (Well, not considering extracted .nb files)
EDIT: Under no circumstances should you try to flash non-Hermes ROMs! While the flashing would usually fail safely, do not take that risk. Always flash ROMs made for the Hermes.
Go to the wm06 forum on here, it has a heap of roms available to flash, most are now 6.1 but I have seen 6 now & then. Do a search for "Hermes 6.1 roms" and see what you come up with.
There are heaps of roms here so pick 1, don't ask whats best as each rom is a personal preference and what 1 person needs may not be for you so do some research.
You're lucky you haven't been flamed for NOT checking if the rom was for your device, though its early yet.....
Cheers...
It worked great thank you all. Now, I can test new ROMs and hopefully my phone will not continue to do the random hard resets and all. If it does I will continue to post on the thread.
Thanks again.
Just be aware that flashing the radio rom is the riskiest part of rom flashing. It has almost a 100% casualty rating of bricks if something goes wrong with the flash. For this reason most people recommend the sd card method as the safest (lets be honest, if you reset your Hermes in the middle of a flash or use a flat battery, you deserve a brick) as there are less chances of stuff-ups.
If the radio rom works well, LEAVE IT ALONE... Unless there is a MAJOR gain by upgrading its best to leave well enough alone.
Cheers...
So I did what you all told me to do. I used the SD to flash my ROM. I am now currently running TNT official Hermes. The phone WAS running fine but today it hard reset itself once again. I have decided that it is time to try to flash the Radio to see if this process will help it from the random hard resets that it has been going through. My question is: Are radio roms also built for specific phones or are they typically universal?
Also if anyone believes that the hard resets are not because of my radio and may be because of something else please say so.
Thanks again

Radio ROMs are most definitely NOT universal. They depend heavily on the hardware, which is different between different models. You should never, ever flash a non-Hermes radio ROM on your device. The one possible exception is the Trinity, which has similar radio hardware.
As for your hard resets, you should flash an official Hermes ROM first (find a version without a radio) and then flash a custom one. It's an issue with how Big-Storage is implemented in custom ROMs.
So I ended up trying out TNT (for HERMES) and didn't like it so I went back to Pays Lite (which does have the nbh file.) I also found custom radio roms and flashed a 1.56.70.11 radio for Hermes. And it seems like this might have worked but than again I have only used it for a little while. The phone did hard reset it self, but I believe that was because I was running to many things and it froze. I am going to continue using this and see how it ends up. IF by any chance I do run into the same problems what do you recommend I do. (remember I have tried multiple roms and now have tried a new radio also)
Thanks
Herm 100

As I said in my previous post, your hard reset issue should be solved if you first flash an official ROM (from HTC itself or a carrier) and then flash a custom one afterward.
As Trancecoder sai, I'd also check for bad blocks as this may be a symptom. Use MTTY to check and fix bad blocks but remember that there may be "branded" bad blocks done by the carrier.
Cheers...
Sorry for the late reply, I have been quite busy with other things. I would like to state that I went along with putting a stock ROM onto my Herm and left it on like that for about 1.5 weeks to make sure that it was working ok. I than uploaded Pays Lite once again (I love this ROM) and I have been using it for a few days now and it has been working fine. I recently added some mods like cabs and a new radio just yesterday and I will let you all know if anything else goes wrong. I thank you all for the great suggestions. I certainly learned a lot. Thanks
I'm going to try a different radio,current is 1.16.00.00.
I've unlocked with pofs V3a unlocker.
I've already flashed a few roms to find one I like.
Just worried about bricking it
When I go to flash a radio rom it states....
"Intended solely for 1.11 SPL.You MUST have 1.11 hard SPL installed to flash"
Pretty sure pofs unlocker installs 1.40 olipro?
Do I need to downgrade to SPL 1.11?
So many threads/posts to read my eyes are starting to bleed.
I've found the Hermes radio rom thread so loads to look at but which one
My first question is: Are you flashing by SD card or by USB?
Probably USB but do have sdcard.
I recently learned how to flash by SD. You must have hard spl to do this. It is much easier and sometimes even faster than doing it by usb, not to mention the most important part- it is safer. You may look in this thread to figure out how to do it.
SPL info Needed.
Thanks for your help Shortie but..........

I've not read anywhere that I MUST have 1.11 when flashing radio?
Pretty sure I have hard SPL 1.40.
I have downloaded SPL's V7 and V9 but not flashed them.
Is it ok to flash SPL V7 and then flash ANY radio

[Q] Plain White Screen

Hey guys, I had this problem like three weeks ago, then got my phone working but this time it won't. What's happening is that when I boot on it just goes to a blank white screen. I have 2.08.HSPL etc. It usually works after a few battery pulls/soft resets but this time it isn't. I've tried running Task 29's, but they're stuck at 0%.
Everything I try do gets stuck at 0%. Well I've tried running a Stock RUU (RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.0 7U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe) and that got stuck at 0% too. I tried downloading my stock ROM off the HTC site but it says "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device." Why isn't it? My phones not a TMO HD2? It's a EU Leo bought from o2 Ireland. Can anybody link me to possibly the UK o2 stock ROM?
I downloaded a stock ROM from here but all that comes with the English WWE version is a .exe and not a .nbh.
I also flashed Artemis' custom ROM from SD card and that flashed etc. but when I tried to boot I get the white screen.
Any help appreciated, thanks.

Sorry to hear your HD2 is not working right now Skellyyy. I am with T-Mobile so I am not familiar with O2 but do they not have an official ROM on their website? Do you have to download your official ROM from HTC? I tried to pull up the o2 website but for some reason it would not let me pull it up. I went to www.o2.co.uk/ and I got this error message.

The exe is how you run the update utility for that ROM too by the way. Well atleast it is if you are using a computer to flash it. You have to right click on it and click explore to find tbe RUU file.
Also seeing as you have the EU HD2 why not just download the official update from the T-Mobile website and try it?
Yeah no I don't think they do. I looked on there and they hadn't got it. I think TMO have it on there website is because there's is a different phone then to the EU one.
Wouldn't downloading that ROM sort of brick my phone? Or would it not as the EU is compatible with all radio's?
I know the way you run the .exe then the RUU pops up, but HSPL won't flash anything. I've already tried. I know flashing from the SD works as I've flashed an Artemis ROM from it... but still had the screen.

Good point I have not thought about that. The hole thing about the TMOUS HD2 not being able to flash non TMOUS Radios probably does have something to do with it being there on thier website. This is an effort to keep people from getting confused and downloading the wrong ROM and bricking their phone.

No I don't think just downloading the ROM will brick your HD2, you have to flash it for it to even have a chance to brick it ha ha ha ha..........Just kidding I know what you meant, and no I do not think it will brick your pbone cause you have the EU HD2. You might get some preinstalled T-Mobile apps that you can not use but I think this would be the only side effect. But then again I was thinking you could flash it and then try to reflash your regular ROM as I know that the T-Mobile ROM should fix any issue you are haveing with SPL or the ROM. So maybe then you can get HSPL to flash sucessfully.

I also know if you flash the T-Mobile ROM via SD card it overwrites all, but I think this is the case with any SD card flash of any official ROM. The Artemis ROM is a custom ROM so if you are haveings SPL incompatibility issues it would not fix this as it would take an official ROM flashed via SD to fix that.

stuck at 0% usually means hspl is no longer there.
what does it say by 'spl' in bootloader?
If you have tried to flash a stock rom from sd card at all, , hspl will have gone EVEN IF THE FLASH DIDNT APPEAR TO HAPPEN, hspl will still have gone.
Your phone, if from o2, will always only ever take o2 stock roms, unless hspl is there. HTC website will only let you download o2 roms with that serial.
The .exe file the rom comes as is really a zip file, , right click and 'unzip here or extract here', or rename the file from .exe to .zip, , the file ruu_signed.nbh is inside there.
Artemis probably failed because of your radio and/or spl. tell us what it says in spl, and what rom you want to aim for, and we can take it from there.

Yeah no, that happened me before and I was only had 2.08.0000 but I'm sure I have 2.08.HSPL now. As I've said, it's happened before, in which all I did was do a soft reset and that worked. Doesn't seem to work now though.
I'm pretty sure MAGLDR is wiped now anyway, as when I plug a USB in while off it doesn't boot up, but just goes to a red LED. Is this normal yeah?
Just tried flashing the ROM I mentioned... the little progress bar showed... then the phone rebooted. Now it's back to SPL.
I don't there's anything I can do now is there? :/
ok, hang on, do you have a tmous, or a regular hd2 from t mobile?
I have a EU Leo. I don't know where it's from as I bought it second hand. The guy said it was bought on o2 Ireland.
Hey SKellyyy not saying I don't beleive you but just do this to confirm you have a DU HD2. I know for positive I have a T-Mobile HD2 as I bought mine brand new from a T-Mobile store. On your HD2 touch Start/Settings/scroll down to About Phone/Hardware Information. This is what mine says.

if the send key is white its regular, green its tmous. yours will be regular, from o2.which is why none of those roms you tried worked. only ONLY o2 roms will work unless hspl is there, anmd as soon as you flash any stock rom using sd card, it will remove hspl and then teh flash will fail, but hspl is already gone.
so, to get..
a winmo rom
bootloader - hspl4 - 2.08.hspl (3.03.hspl if you want a 3.14 rom) - bootloader - radio (if needed to update, see the rom thread) - bootloader - flash rom
to prep for nand android
bootloader - hspl4 - 2.08.hspl - bootloader - radio - bootloader - magldr - magldr usb flasher - flash CWM
bootloader -
Lol dude I'm pretty positive as it only has 512MB ROM and it has no T-mo on top and the buttons are white.
I've already tried to flash HSPL again but that was using the second version of the software (can't remember the name) and it failed. It recognized the phone and let me choose 2.08.HSPL but the progress bar just went and went (for over an hour).
Where will I get a stock o2 ROM as the HTC website says "this software isn't available for your device"?

thats more likely the comp, not the phone. all usual things, reinstall activesync/wmdc, dont use 64bit os if you can help it, firewalls off, etc etc etc. easiest first test is use a different pc.
It was fine flashing CWM on Friday. Currently can't use a different PC, will get one later and try again.
Thinking if I get this fixed, I'm selling it. Too much sh*t happens with it. It's maybe just my phone but this usually happens everyday and a few battery pulls/soft resets fixes it. That by itself is annoying, but this is even more annoying.
hspl is different than flashing roms / cwm.
flashing and sync will work through any old usb port, rarely need to turn off firewalls, whereas hspl is realllly choosy. gotta be a usb socket directly on the motherboard, hates 64bit win, times out before the phone has rebooted if you start it from winmo running, isnt all that happy if you have changed teh usb drivers for that particular port, say for mtty, or android, (each usb port has its own drivers associated with it, thats why swapping usb ports if it fails is always the first step, try them all)
I've tried three different PC's. Two desktops and one laptop, all plugged in to motherboard USB'a but none of them are installing HSPL. They're all just going up and down on the progress bar. Should I try HSPL4? I'm using the HSPL3 program.
No computers are running 64bit btw.
Is there anywhere I can just get the o2 ROM and try flash it?
Yea go to HTC website, support, pick phone, downloads, change dropdown to rom upgrades, operator name is in the title. You can also find them in the official roms thread in rom development section, and elsewhere in various threads.
Keep gour head up!

Sorry you are having so much trouble out of your HD2. The HD2 is a great device but they are quirky as hell. I sure you will get it fixed, keep your head up man. Oh and don't give up on the HD2 just yet cause just like King Authur's Excalibure, The HD2 is a thing of legend.
Excilcior
Yeah, I'm currently looking to get a new HD2. Decided.
It's just the bootloader doing my head in, found the official ROM I need, but it'll only flash from PC and it's stuck at 0%. I need it as a .nbh so I can install from SD card. Do you know how I can do that if the RUU I downloaded is a .exe?
If you got RUU in .exe file install WinRar right click on the RUU file and choose "open with WinRar" then extract the .nbh file

Dead Titan?

When flash was full, HTC titan began freezing at random places, I deleted some pictures/videos/apps, looks okay until during charging it suddenly reboots and now it is stuck at bootloader HTC screen, I did hard reset, same thing, factory reset, one of 3 tries of factory reset, I can get to windows however only basic phone call works, everything else crashes. The other 2 out of 3 hard reset attempts, either stuck at installing apps (during the initial setup phase), or stuck at HTC logo.
Finally out of options, I tried to use RUU (ROMUpdateUtility.exe) with the downloaded original US Cingular ROM (Original named IMG_Eternity_Cingular_US_1.10.502.04_Radio_16.23.02.26_A_16.27.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE.nbh renamed to ETERIMG.nbh in order to flash), and got same crash/freeze as above. By the way I did verify the SPL bootloader matched the ROM.
Contacted HTC support, they say I have to send it for repair if I want to go that route, anyone know how much they charge? Mine is out of warranty. Only 1.5 years!
Right now it is stuck at installing apps again, and it seems getting harder and harder to get past that stage in order to have basic phone call functionality.
Try to boot phone without any sim card and give feedback

Stop please! You need to tell us what exactly do you mean when your flash is full...your internal memory? It appears by your 2nd paragraph you're attempting to HSPL your device. If you're stuck at the HTC Logo it normally means you're using the wrong radio firmware for the rom; my device for example is HSPL...I will never forget the effort I put into that feat, but the radio had to be changed to version 17 not 16 though you will find roms that will operate on 16, so let's start with what exactly are you trying to do...thanks!

The Titan was untouched, unmodded, fully functional. Then over time ts internal flash drive (16GB) became totally full.
Deleted some pictures/videos from within Zune software, uninstalled some apps and I get back 1GB or 2GB.
Recharged again then during this recharging period, it rebooted, ever since then, it became the state as I described in original post.
Sometimes stuck at HTC logo, sometimes after another factory reset (accessed from vol up + vol down + power HSPL menu),
The radio was 16, and the RUU program indicated it installed the 389(?)MB rom successfully, I made sure I downloaded the original cingular rom that had same radio 16 number.
Just trying to get Titan alive again, not even attempting custom firmware. From what I read on the forum, I will need USB-Y cable + goldcard
to install custom stuff. However I believe the RUU program I used allows flashing of stock ROM.

I was going to recommend Goldcard and it works perfect! You're stock so you need a stock ROM. Double check your model #, mine for example are PI39100s. I HSPL'd my Titans via Goldcard. You might want to attempt the HSPL process if you're nuts enough to try it. But be aware you will need the correct debranding ROM to do so. But for your purposes, you need "stock". I was really surprised how easy the Goldcard method is...it picks it up right out the blocks and you follow the prompts.

The RUU.exe works with stock firmware reflashing already, so when I tried it it was stuck at 4% complete for a minute, then 67% for 30 sec, then 87% for 30 sec, then finally complete 100% successfully, then after reboot, it enters the setup stage and stuck at installing apps again even after 10 minutes. There's something wrong with the phone, so weird, maybe a hammer will do the trick.

Bear with me for a moment...I own a HD2 which is a joy to flash Android and Windows Phone or the both of them, WP on NAND and Android on SD. I've had devices dating back to Windows Mobile 6.1 and flashing my Titans is identical to flashing all the rest of them once you're developer/interop unlocked to do so. As the HD2s age, their internal ROM become corrupted so the gurus here came up with NativeSD, now I realize were talking about two different animals here but when you flash a Windows Mobile/Phone operating system you reformat and erase whatever it is to be installed on; it doesn't matter if its micro sd memory cards or internal rom. I don't know if there is an equivalent Task 29 (wipes the memory) for the Titan's internal rom or is it even necessary; it's standard procedure on the HD2 via the HD2 Toolkit. I want you to do me a favor and send me what is on your bootloader screen, specifically the SPL, I'm thinking it's 2.05 but there are some others running around too. It is clear you can flash, but when I'm hung on the HTC logo it's the radio that is wrong, so please double check that the radio is correct. I'm not aware there are any radio 17s out there on stock but I am by no means an expert at all of this. Know this, there is the real possibility that you have a corrupted internal memory and where it is corrupted or fragmented is a big deal. I'm asking myself can the memory be erased before flashing and I don't have that answer. The roms you're using suggest you're not using a Windows Phone 7.8 stock Rom, but neither do I know if there is a stock flashable 7.8 Rom; I have the debrand 7.0s but none of the Mango 7.5s; I only have the flashable custom 7.8s but will look later this evening for one. I realize I may have asked you this before but please let me know what your model number, SPL, radio, and verify one more time if upon completion of the rom install does the phone reboot automatically after initial setup...the language, time, date, you hit next and start installing apps...is it the first install apps or afterwards where you hit next before you get to the start menu for the very first time. If at all possible do you remember inside your settings, under "about" how much memory you had, and how much was available. Thanks!

That means it upgraded successfully to a more updated Cingular stock rom, if I can use RUU to flash stock rom again
and again, it means writing internal flash is okay(?), but reading internal flash becomes problematic. I noticed
recently I can't even get to setup screen.

Thanks!

I did double/triple check radio is 16 for my very original stock rom and the roms I downloaded all have radio 16 as part of filename.
Model: PI39100
SPL: Original: 1.10, now is 2.1
Right now can't even get to setup screen now, it used to be 1 out 3 hard resets I can reach that stage, now it always reboots
after it failed to get past Windows logo stage (which happens about 8~20sec after HTC logo and AT&T logo stage)

This is what it looks now after succesfully flashing the IMG_Eternity_Cingular_2.01.502.04_Radio_16.23.03.1 7_16.27.00.23U_OS_7.10.7740.166.nbh
That means it upgraded successfully to a more updated Cingular stock rom, if I can use RUU to flash stock rom again
and again, it means writing internal flash is okay(?), but reading internal flash becomes problematic. I noticed
recently I can't even get to setup screen.

My apologies that I haven't replied sooner; I'm a full time college student thus I'm a bit busy. If your SPL is 2.1 then you have not successfully installed the Cingular 1.10 ROM otherwise your SPL would read 1.10 which this ROM and the European 1.09 ROM are used to downgrade the SPL on the Titan for HSPL and custom ROM flashing...which you've made me aware that is not what you're attempting to do but it is one of the steps towards doing just that. I'm going to attach my notes on my HSPL of my device which is extensive. There might be something in it that might help you. But for example my bootloader reads: PI39100...HSPL2.5.160015.3(137079)...eMMC SND 15188MB...CotullaH(F:81, ID:1,V11, B:f8)...double space...Radio-17.5006.08.27. I realize you're not trying to HSPL but if you are able to get your SPL to read 1.10, I think you should try it, the worse that can happen to you is the SPL will read SPL2.5.160015.3 not HSPL2.5.160015.3. I still recommend the Goldcard Method. My notes will be attached as a Word file.

Mine was SPL 1.1 before any flashing, now it is 2.1 because I flashed a SPL 2.1 Stock ROM.
Let me try to flash it back to SPL 1.1 again. I am not planning to use custom ROM so I don't think I need a gold card for now.
Used same RUU to flash back to HSPL 1.0 from 2.1, anyway it still looks dead to me. It's a loss.
Anyway thanks everyone for the help.
The weird thing is I can flash back and forth between 1.0 and 2.1, meaning internal flash drive has no issue during writing.
