[Q] Last one to recive update - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

What do I have to do, install, change or what ever so my PC Companion recognizes new update. I'm always last one to get it . New update (2.1.1.A.0.6 build) is available for a few days now but PC Companion still showing that my phone is up to date. I don't care losing languages and settings etc. for my country, I just need english ...

Find it here on xda and install it

You are not the last one. I have German generic firmware, and it takes me long time to receive the update. And unfortunately, although I also use English, I HAVE TO wait for German version because of the keyboard layout.

Hi all,
just to add my experience on this. I was like, I couldn't receive any update on time.
But if you try to run PC Companion with Administrative rights (in Vista and Windows 7), it'll pick the update.
Or try using SEUS (and run it with Administrative rights).
I got the latest update the next day when it was launched (it was a week ago or so).
Also, if your phone is locked by a network, you have to wait for the network to approve the update. My phone is Factory unlocked (unrooted!).
Cheers

I have an unlocked (no provider) phone in Germany and it isn't out here yet.. so your not allways the last person.. and to think.. some people still havn't got 2.1 update yet!! so you shouldn't complain.
And I was really excited about getting ANT support
not in too much of a hurry for this update.... doesn't offer me anything new (and all my Xrecovery install Themes won't work) I'm happy to stick with .24 for a while longer.

Not very helpfull answers ...but I found a solution for rooted phones:
With Root explorer copy attached build.prop to /system folder also recommended to backup "keyprint.xml" in system/usr/keyboard-config for keyboard layout. then restart phone start PC Commpanion -> Update - > Repair and you'll have 2.1.1.A.0.6 build.
you can read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944244

they're releasing it by region i guess. give it a few more days or a week.
you can try SEUS since that's the one that i've used and it detected the new update.

That is a helpful answer.. and its what a lot of us did to get original Nordic 2.1 last year.. but I just don't think this update is worth screwing with my build.prop, it would just mean installing JIT again.. and then trying to get it back to my Region once its released here.. I Agree.. if you really really want 2.1.1.A.0.6 then go for it.. (and enjoy your ANT features ) I think I can wait.
Thanks for mentioning this method anyway, good to teach the noobs

Help with unrooting x10 mini pro

I rooted my x10 mini pro using the exploid method to use barnacle wifi tethering and titanium back up to remove unwanted apps. A new software update is now available but i cannot install it because my phone is rooted. They say you need to use SE update service or pc companion to remove the root.
SE Update says my software is up 2 date and so cannot update using it PC companion also says my phone is up to date and when i try to repair ,it says could not download the update and asked me to check my internet connection. I don't understand this because I use the same PC companion to download everything else fine...media go, the update engine.
Is there another way to unroot the phone...i gather it is possible to flash the default u20i software back onto the phone.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated because as things stand I would not even be able to update to 2.1 when its released.
I also had a rooted X10 mini pro and I couldn't get the update without unrooting it. I ran Update Service and just like in your case, I got a message that my phone was up to date. However, when that message appeared, I could press "Install/Update" (don't remember what the button was called) in the bottom right corner of the screen. That reinstalled everything, root was removed, so I could update it and re-root it.

When I use the SE updated service it just says no new updates for your phone. The only button on the bottom right corner is exit. There is no option to install.
Just to be sure the se update service is a separate software to pc companion not part of it. I googled seus to find it. Just in case there is confusion, it also told me that it was up to date but I had the option to reinstall

Yes I know the Update service is a separate software to pc companion. I have a mini pro U20i and it gave me no option to reinstall only to exit the program. If the update service is the program with an icon of a phone with a download arrow beside it then thats what i'm using.
I am also having the exact same problem.
I cannot unroot my phone - and the SEUS just says I have the latest version installed and will not allow me to reinstall/repair.
Any other ideas would be appreciated!
I've had the same problem - rooted the mini Pro, then couldn't download the update and couldn't repair it using SEUS (saying I had latest version) or PC Companion (error with internet connection) and couldn't unroot it.
I've sorted it by using Omnius mentioned in another thread.
Register on the site and download the software and the ROM. I chose the U20i_WORLD_1_8_CDF1238_0199, which on a thread about changing the colour listed it as UK Black. It's a RAR with 2 files. I set the larger file to be Application file and the smaller one as the Customisation file.
Flashed it and it worked, back to stock without root. Took a while to boot from the SE logo, I thought I'd bricked it!
Downloaded the official OTA 1.2.A.1.174 and it installed. Going to test now, hoping that it may improve battery life, my only complaint with the phone.
Mine's a sim-free x10.
PS - It's still blue scheme, not black.

My X10 failed to update 2.1

I update my X10 failed with the update services now cant swtich on anymore...please someone help me...my X10's singapore version...
Check if you're branded or not and check what software version do you have
how to branded?i used the rootexplorer and changed the "ro.semc.version.cust" and "ro.product.name" to 1234-8465 under "system/default.prop"...after that i used the update services software to update 2.1 but failed...it said the installation failed...please disconnect the phone and make sure the battery fully charged...oh my god...now i switched my phone on it only show a exclamation mark there...zzz...please help me...
Uh-oh i'm sure someone will be able to provide you some usefull info soon...Sorry can't help you further
anyway,thx...anyone else can help me to solve it???
Try remove your battrey, place it back and see whether it work ?
i tried many times...still useless...Singapore version update 2.1 really hard...does anyone in XDA test the Singapore version update successful to 2.1??
I also have a Singapore version and changed the number using rootexplore to Nordic version. I'm downloading the firmware now, will see if it installs without any problems. I will let you know soon...beginning to get little worry
OK,please inform me immerdiately...i need the way to save my X10...
Remove your battery and wait 30 seconds, than put the battery back in the phone and connect it in to your pc while you're holding the back key (before you connect the phone to your pc, run the SEUS)

Ok, I was able to install without any issues. I'm running 2.1.
I think I saw a way to unbrick the phone using a debranding method. You might try searching. Good luck.

[Q] X10a not getting upgraded to 2.1 despite every effort

Hello there,
Ok this is frustrating me to no end. Months and months of freaking wait and yet i cant get the update.
I have an Debranded X10a (bought in Canada) that I am running on O2 UK network. I confirmed that X10a 2.1 update is available, O2 uk has the update out as well. The SI number of kit 1232-4507 is in the list (http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/) So theoratically I should be able to get it without a hitch.. right ?? NO !!! I have been trying on PC Companion and SEUS for the update but every time i get the same darn message "Your software is update" but when i check its always 1.6.
What is it in this sane universe that i am doing wrong that I am not able to update my Xperia X10. O2 update is available, X10a SI Kit number is on the list, SEUS and PC Companion tells me that 1.6 is the latest..i tried installig/uninstalling.. and deleting the DB.. but nothing
is it not possible to get the 2.1 update in an installable file that we can execute after downloading rather then trying to get it on the whim of SE or the career. its kinda frustrating that a simple OTA process is making me cry like a lil kid
Can any one help me ?
Please help
Im not sure what 1232-4507 is, but if that is a x10i firmware, and you have it on a x10a, it probably wouldn't allow you to update via SEUS.
If thats the case, a couple solutions here.
Change region code to the one in Canada, and update via SEUS.
OR
You could just use the flasher located in the android dev section and flash it to whatever you want without using SEUS.
Hope that helps.

You did use CDA and not SI when you de-branded?
Try reading out "Software Info" 1st 9 digits of Customization Version shows your CDA. Should be 1233-6929 for Rogers or 1234-4820 for World Generic.
To access Hidden Menu in 1.6 home, back, back, home, back, home, home, back
If that shows one of the above, suggest flash, or ignore above and just flash.

Oh crap, so it just got weired
So In model info it says: X10a and Country as ARGENTINA
in the Software info the numbers are 1237-1014 R7A
I am surprised cz i just did a complete install of the os from SEUS. it SHOULD have not got the Argentina version..
So thats that.. i m not on a world generic..
Also, tried doing flash from the other thread. But when i booth the phone in Flash mode, it will give me message "searching for xperia" and will go on to boot the phone normally... Tried installing the flash driver uploaded by Binary but no joy there as well..
i am quite stumped..

You have two choices. One is to search the forum for changing your FW signature. There is a whole thread about this. Another choice is to fight with the invisibility of your phone for the flashing software. I think, this is the driver's issue. In Bin4ry's post about the last version of his flasher check the "Problems" part. For more detailed things search my posts - I had similar problems and actually this part was from my last messages. I just used virgin clean computer (in SE terms virgin clean, it is pretty old one) that guarantied me from any driver's conflicts. And try to use old, non-GUI version. Some people had problem with it. One of the last post told that for non-GUI version you just need to reconnect your phone when it began to search for it. In flash mode, of course.
Can you point me to the thread... Firmware Signature change thread is no where to be found, I have been trying all sort of searches
Sorry for being such a Noob on this !!!
Re: Driver issues, I have tried a couple of things, Tried installing the driver, moved to another computer.. pretty much same result "searching for xperia"
Didnt use the Non GUI.. wasnt sure how to go about it... i got macs every where not windows PC.. which is a bit of issue

Try this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711 only good on a PC.
Driver issues can be a bear. Did you run PC Companion?
There is a rather long discussion on this in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719

I have no idea what should you do at mac... But actually Android is from the same family, as mac os - bot are posixes. Android is linux, mac os is BSD. Possible, it is easier to try to find way in linux/unix forums.
In case of windows stuff, you need specifically flashing drivers for the purpose you have problems now. You need to install only flashing drivers. You can find them in Bin4ry posts. There he included a link to non-GUI flasher as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827065
If you have flashing drivers problem you won't able to use SEUS too - it will try to find your X10 too and will fail. I used another computer just to try clean Windows install - without any conflicting drivers and found right one (too old to know anything about this new stuff like PC Companion, SEUS etc). I can not guarantee the success, but in my case it worked.
So i finally cracked it..
For me, the issue was in the GUI version, i took a virgin computer, went with GUI.. same"searching for xperia" thing ..
i went with NON GUI... and voila.... it worked on first attempt.. had my phone humming to World Generic in next 20 minutes..
So yeah.. for some reason.. the GUI version didnt work for me on 3 different pcs.... also, used MAC OX10.6 with Parallel 6 to run the batch file.. not sure if it had to do somehting with the fix..
anyways.. to my next hurdle.. got all working.. but ..
So i Flashed my xperia x10a yesterday to 2.1.... after that... I am not able to change the keyboard to android keyboard .. its stuck on default..
Can any one suggest what can I do ..
While at it, I am looking for swype too... i know that the beta program is closed, however, was wondering if i root my phone.. can i just borrow Swype apk from some one on the forum and use it ?

[TUT] How to root 2.3.3 Xperia Neo with lock bootloader

Great news for Xperia Neo User
After several try, i successful root 2.3.3 Xperia Neo
First at all thank to kistigun and kokbiel for discover this in Xperia ARC, therefore i take this as a credit for them
If you are Neo user i believe u have go through this page
[TUT]
But if you try that, i ensure you that you may brick your phone, as that tutorial is for Xperia Arc only. So this is how to root your NEO.
Basicly is using back the same way like Xperia ARC, just you change the firmware to M15 instead of L15. i copy entire thing from Kistigun step in here
...........................................................................................................
Do not try this if you have an unlocked bootloader or if you dont know what your doing! I'm not resposible if you break or brick your phone!
If you're allready on a rooted .181 and OTA update is available for you just update your firmware. If there is no OTA update available for your customazation version follow these instuctions:
- flash back to M15 3.0.A.2.181 generic with the flashtool
- Use Gingerbreak or Superoneclick to root your device
- Update your Xperia Neo using a OTA(over the air) update(Go to settings->About phone->Software update)
- Enjoy your rooted 2.3.3!!!
Update 1: it seems that the OTA update is not working if you did any modifications to/deleted system files so it's adviced to always flash the .181 firmware provided in this post
Update 2: if you have any battery problems after flashing the .181 firmware(if it's only showing 1%) removing the battery for a few minutes should solve this
Update 3: thanks to ricstc we now have a video tutorial on how to follow these instructions
Update 4: if you want you can keep your user data by unchecking the whipe user data in the flashtool while selecting the correct ftf file. this will cause a lot of error message's on 2.3.2 but just click them away and continue the procedure, after upgrading again to 2.3.3 the error message's will be gone!
Update 5: IF some of you unable update the via OTA, don worry, restart the phone and left it 1-6 min, and try to update again.
M15 3.0.A.2.181 Generic Rom
How come the neo doesn't have a section of it's own?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
it looks that file with .181 is no longer available from this Chinese site...
Thanks!! is great =)
Need a Neo forum!

Just add a few lines from my experience.
The booting after OTA upgrade seems to go forever. After a looooooong time it just greyed.
(I cannot believe) it's not bricked. Just knock off the battery and put it back. This time the rebooting will be done in a flashy manner.
Now a pop-up will welcome you to the world of Android 2.3.3 with root privilege.

About flashing, I had no luck. Always the same error asking to alow untrusted apps and usb debugging...
Anyone did this with success?
Hello,
Can we apply the M15 3.0.A.2.181 on a MT15a phone?
Thanks
Hi,
Which version of FlashTool did you use, 0.2.9.1 beta or 0.2.8 stable ?
I used the beta one.
After that, I did try with 0.2.8 but the samething happens.

The problem I had was related with flashing crashing in the middle of the process...
So, I tried times and times (about 35 or 40) and finally, the flashing completed with no errors.
Honestly, it took many times as sometimes the computer would not recognize the phone, and I had to unplug and replug the usb cable again.
After that, I did use a bettermicro USB cable to do all the procedure as explained on the first topic and all was successfull. I still did has 3 or 4 errors but I started over till it completes with no error.
I am now convinced (after some experiences on this same Neo) that different computers or windows versions may have an influence as on my laptop I get many less erros than on the desktop. Both using Win7.
And on the last weekend, at my friend's XP it did flash at first with no errors at all (coincidence?).
Hope this helps.

for the flashing part, if u follow the video tutorial closely should be no problem

Hi... 3 posts before the one you quoted I'm letting everyone know that I'm rooted already.
Those USB and Trusted warnings are 'default'? error messages that flashtool displays on unexpected errors, I think...

i need to disagree. i cannot root my neo using gingerbreak if not unlocking bootloader. if i use different method using superoneclick, it will give an error something like this: cannot mount /system
so what i did:
1. unlock bootloader.
2. run gingerbreak, it will rooting less than 3 minutes comparing to locked bootloader, taking forever
3. locking back the bootloader.
4. update.
after the updating process, i get android 2.3.3 with root enabled.
@ mohdazuan
If you already unlocked your bootloader, why didn't you just use DooMLord's kernal and flash the latest firmware? You anyway wiped the DRM files. So there's no point in actually relocking it unless of course it's to use SEUS.
thats the point, i just want to use SEUS
i did the bootloader unlocking at the first time because want to flash custom rom using fastboot before finding out that rooted 2.3.2 can be updated to 2.3.3 without losing root access.
anyway i don't care about DRM since my digital contents is not all "right"

[Q] Any fix for PCC "There is no software available for your device" error?

Hello Everyone,
i'm sure most of you guys are facing this weird PC Companion issue after downloading the new (23.0.1.A.0.167) FW, to make it short, here is what i get:
1- connecting my XZ2
2- New Software available (23.0.1.A.0.167)
3- Disconnect the device (PCC new feature)
4- Downloading .... etc
5- Connection XZ2 again
6- The mobile shuts down
7- Error "There is no software available for your device"
check the attached screenshot
so any possible fix for this?
Yeah, it happened to me as well and it's pissing me off.
Could it be low internal memory???

I download generic Russia, and flash it.
That Was Really Awfull
So I decrypted the files i got from the PC Companion and guess what i found...!!
the old version rom (.314) was the one included in the downloaded files, FU..K YOU SONY, you didn't even bother to check the files you are sending to us.
Seems that the same problem happens in several regions, as lots of talk i found when googling the problem.
And that explains everything, the PC Companion downloads whats on the server as the new 23.0.1.A.0.167, and when the mobile shuts down to the flash mode the error happens
Also some guy at the GENERAL forum posting the ROM twice, and they reply "its the old one", unbelievable ...

I am wondering the same. I live in Sweden and got offered new firmware 23 (or whatever it is). So I've downloaded about 1gig of something and than when it turns off the phone, I get info about no software available.
When I check available firmware for Sweden, it has two version or two operators (not for the third one, which I happen to have) and both are version 17.xxx. WTF??? I guess PC Companion got too happy about availability of nw firmware somewhere in the world and realized, that there is no new FW for my region. ugh.
Same error here in France
23.0.1.A.0.167 sony pc companion update error "there is no update available for your device"
Same here on both my Z2 D6503 & Z2 tablet...
Same issue for me in Italy. I think I will flash the tft. Already wait a lot
I had deutschland unbranded 4.4.2 and I have been updated to 4.4.4 with PCC without issues. (I'm from Costa Rica)
same thing happened to me. but now I managed to update it successfully. just uninstall pc companion and download from their site and install again. redo the process of updating. hope it works in your case.
