[Q] HTC_IME Keyboard on KaosFroyo V39 - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey is there anyway to get the HTC_IME stock eris keyboard that is on 2.1 and put it on Kaos Froyo 2.2? I tried flashing the Jonas Mod and also tried installing the apk files as well and I am getting nowhere. I'm not sure if its possible to install a sense keyboard on something like kaos froyo. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how to install it that would be great. I don't like the gingerbread keyboard that comes with the most ROMs. Thanks.

I have used jonasl lowres v22 experimental on every ROM I have tried - 2.1, 2.2, and now 2.3.
The .apk(s) I have been using are Clicker.apk and HTC_IME_lo22.apk. Install Clicker.apk first (iirc that's what the instructions said).
I have v27 as well, so I am sure I tried it at one time or another - there must be some reason why I am not using it, but I can't recall if there was a problem with it or not. I haven't had any troubles with v22 lowres on any ROM I've used it with.

I have Kaos Froyo v39 and I have found that using the above link to generate my own HTC_IME keyboard, v27, froyo lo-res, 1.6+, will create a keyboard that should work for you! I already downloaded a lot of the newer HTC_IME's and for some strange reason it wouldn't work! This finally did though, so I'm happy.
Attached is the file I use, let me know if it works for you!

[Q] MetaMorph and 2.2 Roms

Hello everyone,
Is metamorph working for anyone using a 2.2 based ROM? Everytime I try to apply a morph, it simply closes and tells me the morph is not properly written and to contact the author.
Is anyone else seeing this as well?
Some things work and some things dont morphs worked with eugenes ginger clone but not with nero v1 this would be better for q&a

Thanks so much for your answer. I put it here since it was app related (sorry if thats not accurate). I am trying to morph my swype to the naked black but have so far been unsuccessful. Have to tried anything like that?
You have to apply it twice then go into text and locale in your settings and choose swype as your input method I'm using naked swype if you're using eugenes ginger clone you have to download the swype apk and lib file and put then in there appropriate place

I've had no problems with "htc_ime_lowres22_experimental.zip" on every Eris ROM I've tried since 2.1; Eclair/Froyo/Gingerbread. I haven't tested it on GSB v1.9, but I am using it on GSB v1.6, and can't recall a single (Eris) ROM that it did not work on.
BTW, I think the "22" in the name is because it was first built for Froyo - I think it is a derivative of jonasl's V26 keyboard.
You can find a flashable version at this XDA post.
If you would prefer to not "flash" that zip, you can instead just unpack the zip file and just manually side-load the two .apk files inside the zip. ( Clicker.apk and HTC_IME_lo22.apk; I think you are supposed to install Clicker.apk first ). Note that you need to enable it after installation in Settings -> Language and keyboard
I don't think it is dangerous at all; but if you want to be safe make a Nandroid backup first.

thanks man ill try it out
Check out gimpsta.com
You can design a custom HTC keyboard. I've made a dozen of them. Works really well with gsb1.9
Same kb as already recommended by bftb0, but make your own! (Select color theme). You will still need to add clicker.apk for calibration to work.
Select low res and the default v27 , 1.6+

[Q] Racht's 2.3.3 CM7 NIGHTLY v.41's WyContacts on floyo v0.15

Hi there.
I was wondering if it would be possibile to port the WyContacts which comes with the 2.3.3 CM7 NIGHTLY v.41 HACKDROID Legend by Racht, to his floyo v0.15.
The app is the same in both roms, but the one featured in the 2.3 rom has an option to set the "default tab" which the other doesn't have at all.
To better explain what I'm looking for, I want the Recent Calls List to open when I click on the phone button.
On floyo, til now, it does open the numpad dial. I want the Call List to display as default tab [just like it's available in 2.3 racht's rom].
Shouldn't it be possible?
Thanks.
Use GO contacts, it might help you..

A side solution, not the one I was searching for.
But it's quietly functional this way.
Thank you!
what about pull contacts.apk from 2.3.3 CM7 NIGHTLY and push it to floyo using adb or root explorer i haven't tried it but could work

I tried this way.
But contacts and whole phone dialing seem frozen. I restored my original floyo backup then everything came back fine.
I tried with root explorer... do you think that adb-ing will give a different result?

do what eoghan2t7 said. It will back up the contacts to the sd card as a .vcf file... eg 001.vcf. you can later restore the contacts through the same option
If you want to have an app, I recommend Mybackup (Root or Pro).
Thanks
Many Thanks for the info guys, i'll flash her phone again tonight.
What's the most stable 2.1 rom? is it elegance 2.1? I appreciate this is off topic but I wanted to put the best 2.1 rom on her phone.
thanks
Nik
Why put 2.1 on when we have a CM7 Rom lol but if you really want a 2.1 rom i would go for the latest stock rom
If you want to chose 2.1, I recommend EleganceSwift.
On Android 2.2, I prefer Utopia (+1)
On Android 2.3.4 I would chose erdogan's Soft-Mod.
Problem with SWIFT DROID

I would put Swiftdroid 2.3.4 on the phone but there seems to be a problem I get when people ring me, sometimes they can't hear me. I really want to try the Eyecandy softmod but I can't use RC1 unitl this has been resolved.
I'll just put Elegance swift 2.1 on my wife's phone for now.
Thanks
Black quarx 2.1 is the Best rom out.
MMTREM ROM 2.1 should be the prefect 2.1 ROM

Motorola stock multitouch keyboard

Hi all
I'm running CM7.2 on my Defy MB525 Red Lens as best stable ROM for me but I'm really missing stock Motorola Multitouch keyboard (not swype one)
Is there any way to get it works on this ROM? Please don't suggest third party apps as I've tried all of them. Where to find any Moto keyboard apk or flashable zip? thanks

Dear topic starter,
did you find that keyboard ?
I would like to look at it.
My Defy came with swype initially, thats why I am asking
I got new Moto now. Unlucky to find stock Defy keyboard.
Isn't it that from froyo or eclair Roms? Than you just have to unpack sbf and mount system partition in Linux. Than u can copy the apk.
OT look at this ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796129
