[App] Backight Off - EVO Shift 4G Themes and Apps

I Just wanted to let my fellow Shift users know that there is a very simple to use app that lets you turn off the backlight on the keyboard. Must be rooted to use it of course! https://market.android.com/details?id=com.neuron.BacklightOff

Thanks for sharing. I was just pondering the easiest method today myself!

This option would be a good addition to some custom roms.

[ROM]mycy-6.0.0v3

I wasn't going to release this since I don't consider it a real rom, but since there aren't really many roms in here to play with, I figured I'd share.
What it is.
Essentially a themed version of Eugene373's CyangogenMod froyo rom with a few minor changes.
Special thanks to Eugene for getting this working for us and of course cyanogen and the rest of teamdouche or anybody else who helped somewhere along the line.
my changes:
mytheme - just the theme I've been using since the early g1 days.
pngcrushed most apks
added ability to blacklist numbers from call log
updated hosts file (adfree)
updated su/superuser to 2.2.2
maybe something else
I can't guarantee updates or support
Flash at your own risk
want to donate? Find someone else to give it to (preferably someone who deserves it).
your gonna want to go into your cyanogenmod settings and change the colors.

Lol,sure it works but you cant copy or delete anything in /system/app folder.
Try to delete something,it disappears from root explorer but the file is still there.
really liking the theme on this rom! working great only thing i would request as with any Froyo rom is apps2ext instead of the froyo apps2FAT32 but hey this thing works and works fast!
This rom is bad ass. I love the theme. Cool thanks a lot.

of course... you can't mount system folder EXCEPT in recovery mode. So terminal emu, root explorer, or whatever app won't help you at all. that's the way it is with all roms on the MTS. I doubt it will ever be different, unfortunately. So, you'll aways be tied to your computer unlike the G1/MT3G.
Not sure if hard spl or anthing else will help, may be someone with more knowledge can explain.
btw, great rom! I like the theme additions. Froyo is getting more stable each week and it's thanks to devs like yourself. Every port helps! Keep it up, man!

So is apps2FAT32 ACTUALLY FUNCTIONAL on this rom? If so, that'd be awesome.

no its not functional and when i used it on my g1 i didnt like it! if you ever reboot dont touch your phone until its done checking the sdcard otherwise all of the shortcuts you had that were apps2fat32 would be the stupid icon that says its not on your phone! it annoyed me thats why i love apps2ext
but i will admit that i had a bunch of apps installed without the low memory warning and also i was getting 7.9-8.0 MFLOPS using linpack! so the rom is fast fast fast!
I actually ended up having to remove this rom. Even though it failed on me, still one of my favorite roms thus far. I nandroided back to mr1v4. Apps2fat32 was working great for 2 days. Last night plugged in to charge, all was well. This morning, my apps2fat32 had stopped working, all apps were on the phone memmory (which was so full that doing anything caused a force close) i wasnt able to correct the problem nor uninstall anything. Fresh restart resulted in force close loop. If there ends up being a new version i will definatly try again.

Anyone having a strange problem of the contacts syncing endless after you use wireless? The wireless could have nothing to do with it but that's always when it starts for me and I have to reflash the rom to fix it.

Thank you kindly, for the response. Headway must have been made on this rom, though, because all of the others that I tried, apps definitely only installed on the internal memory. Ya gotta love the ext partition setup versus the fat32 route, anyways! Why change up after all of the success of all the other roms? And what is the deal with silent mode not being available on all the froyo roms I've used? Lol. That's kinda a big thing, I'd suppose. Either way, the devs are kicking ass on what's available.
I really like this rom, thanks

[q] about ultrabrightness???

hi! people!! i would like to know if it is possible to set ultrabrightness option in a fast way with the notification bar, a widget or something like that because its annoying to go settings,cyanoset,.... i supposed not but if it was possible it would be really helpful i think. i usually have autobrightness but when its very sunny i push brightness button up to 100% and i hardly can see the screen. thx people
i suppose there is no possibility to do it,isnt it? what a pitty!
I think the max you man do is: Launcher, Add, Shortcuts, CyanogenMod Shortcuts, Display. I think it's the fastest way.
I will learn to create apps someday and try to make something like this to CM9 or CM10.

[Q] Pixely wifi calling icon in status bar! Possible to theme?

Short and simple, my WiFi calling icon up there in my status bar is much more pixely than that of any other device I've seen. Is it possible to theme this, and if so, is anyone up for the task? I'm not a total noob, but I'm no developer. thanks !

ROM Toolbox app in the market by jrummy16 has an icon changing feature... You can also try UOT kitchen. Are you rooted? Can you post a screenshot of your status bar?

Here's a screenshot. It isn't crazy bad, but I've compared to 3 or 4 other devices and just thought maybe there was a way to fix this little annoyance.
And yes, I am rooted. I'm pretty good with all this root stuff, but I just didn't know quite enough to fix this

Yeah that's the ics WiFi icon it looks like. You could change the theme or skin or you could go to uot kitchen to fix it or make your own.

That uot kitchen looks pretty intriguing, but it also looks a bit complicated. Would it be too much trouble to maybe fill me in on how I would go about changing the wifi calling icon using uot kitchen? Thanks
It's pretty self explanatory if u go to the website. I'm not at my pc now so can't walk you through it... I'm sure u could search though and find a tutorial somewhere... Sorry

Well thanks anyways glacierguy. I will try to learn up on the uot kitchen. And Double0EK, I actually had recently learned that the amaze had built in screen shot feature, and I've used it, but ever since I flashed Xboarder's Rom Bulletproof, it hasn't worked.

[Q] aokp change font

Hey all,
I was just wondering if there was a simple way to change the overall font in the aokp rom. I don't know much about working on the phone other than the basic flashing of roms and kernels. I noticed that there are some apps on google play but many don't seem to work well with ics. I'm only asking this because a little while back I used ShoStock2 and it had an option to change the font in settings->display->font.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
If this is an obvious method please do not attack me. I did do a search here and on google and only found apps and custom scripts (like I said, I'm not very phone savy and prefer not to mess with too many things on my own).
Thanks in advance

Another vote for Font Installer. I use it all the time. There are other ways to do it, but this is simplest (and safest, I'd say). It comes with a bunch of fonts available, but you can add others. Great app!

It does not work with core Gapps (AOSP launcher "Launcher3"). You have to use Google (apps) launcher for custom font. There is no font app (I know; FontInstaller, MyFont, iFont, Type Fresh,...) atm that's working with AOSP launcher. On my daily build of AOKP for flo (KitKat) it does not work at all.
Tapagetalkt via Dirty Unicorns 5.0 vom Nexus 7 (flo)

So you want your stock themes to work?

So after owning g2 on att..we had same issue. Please disregard if its been posted. If you didn't know already here you go. This does not require root.
1. Go to the market. Download Launcher Pro
2. Don't open it. We're using it for a huge benefit it's always left a back door open for us devs..
3. Press on empty home screen to bring up widgets.
4. Scroll to find the activities in form of launcher pro icon
5. Press on It once It will bring up a huge hidden menu..
6. Scroll down to Home
7. Press home and scroll down to hidden menu themes provider (or the first hidden menu themes etc you see)
8. Press it once.
If you did this in the correct order it will bring a nice sweet blue icon on your home screen ..you can put it in a folder but keep it. Press on it to now have your theme picker.
9. Google LG world apk..download It and now enjoy your themes etc..
I hope this made you smile.
Peace.

Any chance for problems if rooted and modified with g3 tweaksbox? I was going to apply a theme, but don't want issues from the changes I made with xposed.

Gave it a shot and yes it does work with exposed. No issues yet.
If I remember right, it's the first "Theme" that shows up in that menu. It's not what the OP called it.

Lg has themes available similar to like what Miui has but nowhere near as good. Most are pretty lame actually... probably why they dropped them from US varients, but there's a work around.
This topic should have probably been placed in the Themes and Apps forum, but here is some more detailed info on the subject.

I've tried a few. One for the g2 locked my phone up hard and made it totally unresponsive. Theme did stick after a battery pull and was fair at best. It was interesting to play around with for a bit but like i said, most are pretty weak.

I also add this is for version of sprint that does have the theme apk or home themes hidden. I don't know why. But this does not require root and is for stock Rom. Or out of box fix. Yes it can be moved to themes and apps if mods feel I've posted in error. Again just trying to help keep this sprint version level with the experience of the rest. The stock themes do suck. But the option is also great to have. Peace. And thank you all for your help.
