[Q] Can X10 WIFI tether in infrastructure mode? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm using Barnacle but it can only share in ad-hoc mode which is not supported by android phones. So may I know whether X10 can try to share in infrastructure mode? I know Android Wireless Tether can share in infrastructure mode in some devices, is X10 in that list?

Also curious on this.

It seems to be a common misconception that ad-hoc is not supported in android. I was able to use barnacle and ad-hoc my brother's x10 to mine so he could use the market. I also played with a demo of the motorola atrix and connected it to my phone using barnacle over ad-hoc as well.
The ad-hoc connectivity looks to be based on the version of android you have. I just got the motorola Xoom and Honeycomb doesn't support ad-hoc connections.
I tried using Wireless Tether on my x10, but it wouldn't work because the kernel doesn't support netfilter. I tried using bluetooth tethering and got an error message about the NAT setup failing. It would connect, but couldn't share the internet.
I'm still looking for a good app to do this.

i am looking for the same solution. X10 and xoom

New kernel has netfilter so will wireless tether it native tether work? On 2.1 or 2.3

Tether psp

Does anybody know if you could tether a PSP 1000/2000 with froyoeris or any other rom or wifi tethering app
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
If you are using rooted froyo, wifi hot spot will do it, or use wifi tether.

The psp won't recognize the WiFi tether option since its basically an adhoc connection and the psp just isn't designed to connect to the internet through adhoc. Pdanet has the option for Bluetooth tether but I couldn't figure out the initialization code to get it to connect, plus you would need a pspgo to even use the Bluetooth tether option

Xbox live tethering

Had anyone had problems tethering to xbox live either via barnacle or mobile AP?

Use mobile ap. Those apps are adhoc. Mobile ap turns your phone into a router. Have u installed a custom rom?, than u probably already have mobile ap.

Yea I'm using mobile AP, but when I try to use it on xbox it says mtu is insufficient. I had seen a video on you tube on changing mtu w/ terminal emulator and did that to the T but still no luck. I was having similar issues w/ barnacle but I found that if I wait about 2 to 5 minutes after starting it up then hooking up to xbox live it works. I'm going to try same method w/ AP when I get home. Oh BTW I'm using bionix fusion 1.1 stock kernel

I haven't tried using either of those with XBox Live, so I can't really give any help in tha regard. I can suggest, however, that you try android-wifi-tether (You'll have to google it because I can't post links, and make sure to download the latest experimental version with support for the galaxy s). I used this on my Vibrant before I learned about the Mobile AP, and it works quite well. I had used it before on my G1, and was succesful in using it to play on Live with that. I haven't tried Live with my Vibrant, though, so I can't guarentee it will work. Hope this helps!

A Rom that supports infrastructure wifi tethering

I just bought a Nintendo 3ds for my son and tried to use my phone`s 3g connection via tethering with the 3ds, but it doesn't work because the 3ds doesn't use ad-hock tethering and must use infrastructure mode.
My question, does anyone know of a x10 rom that supports infrastructure tethering?
Solved
