[Q] Should I Remake These Themes? - myTouch 4G Themes and Apps

[Stardust, Wrinkled Paper, Little Big Planet, Ubuntu, Atlantis]
I have a few old themes that I made for the G1 way back when that I was thinking of recreating for the MT4G. My question is which, if any, would you guys like to see? I would be making it for the community and not for myself.
There are already plenty of good ones out that I've settled on so this would all be for you guys.
Check my Signature for links to the old G1 threads and have a look at them. Of course everything would be updated to fit 2.2 and 2.3 standards as well as higher resolution for everything.

What about darkstar...i think thats what it was called...i used it all the time on my mytouch 3g

Darkstar was created by a team of dev's which did not include me. I only listed themes I worked on so unfortunately no DS from me. Sorry

If you do remake them, will they work on stock ROM or will it still need a home replacement?

These themes do not require a Home Replacement. They are themes you would have to be rooted to use and have to flash to apply.
I am working on making an LBP2 theme that will require an Home Replacement and will be put up in the market but anything I put up on XDA won't need it.

I always loved your themes on the g1, I actually still have one on it. I think you should make some for cm7 theme manager so that you can sell them on the market. Since cm7 is on many devices you would get a lot more downloads since the theme manager works on every phone cm7 does. A lot of the guys are making free themes and donate versions of the same theme. I am not saying I wouldn't appreciate having the more in depth themes you are capable of making, I just think there would be a much larger target audience if you hooked up some awesome cm7 themes.

I will look into it. I stopped modding my G1 a long time ago and have been out of the loop on slot of things. Having gotten a MT4G, I want to get back into theme making. I have some new ideas as well but I love remakes.

Yes, I would love to use those on my MT4G

Sense on Vibrant?

Re post, I posted in the wrong section, sorry! Anyways, any way I can do this? I really like Sense
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
At the moment we cant really port any roms to the vibrant... We can theme it to look like sense, but not the whole shebang.. There is an evo bar and a sense settings morph in the theme section..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I am honestly just looking for a theme of sorts, point me to the easiest one( please no launcherpro or adw.launcher)
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
Go to the themes section... In the sticky topics is the official metamorph thread.. The black bar mod and the settings morph are both there.. Do you know how to use metamorph? If not its not hard to do...

Nope I am fairly new, only thing I have done is one click root, one click lag fix, and Vibrant leaked FW

has anyone asking for sense ever used it? out of all the htc phones ive owner, first thing was the stripping of sense.

It's just extremely pretty, I love stock as well, but Sense is the best UI yet, Blur looks like a cluster of ugly and Touchwiz is just a little too "iPhone rip off"
I think I got it, I just rooted my device again and got metamorph so now I go to download one and I put it in my phone internal sd card and load? Seems simple enough.

Depends on the people. I wanted it back in the G1 days because it was something new and fresh, but after a couple of months, I used a different theme. Touchwiz is something new for me. It's similar to iOS, but not totally, and there is a reason which I'm sure everyone agree on why TouchWiz is like iOS.
Anyways, following the metamorph topic is the best way right now. You could also just learn on how theming works for android and do it yourself. There is a guide somewhere, I think it's in the G1 section, but don't quote me on that.
Cool so far I got one but it won't load it just stays on applying the res-framework thing...

HTC Sense on Vibrant?

Is it possible?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
No it is not.
There are a lot of things out that there that replicate what it does, but do officially port it over would pose some serious legal issues.
Also, why would you want sense? There is plenty out there that tops it.
And, for future reference, please search a topic before posting a question about it.

I'm looking for it too! I guess since it has to do with a lot of legal actions we wont find it on here but it would be nice to have the desire HD rom on the vibrant since we may not see that phone in the US unless we get the overseas version that doesn't even work with our 3g or hspa
What Legal Issues? I didn't know about that.
And What Are Other Thing's That Top HTC Sense? Because TW isn't one of them.

lol, I wasn't making a "smart comment". I was stating that facts.
As of right now there is no sense for the Vibrant.
HTC sense is made for HTC phones, and it will take a while before a stable release if released, if ever.
Also, the code for sense is owned by HTC, so using it without there consent and porting it over to another phone is illegal, even though nobody cares too much.
And, LauncherPro is amazing. What exactly do you want from sense that you can't get on your Vibrant otherwise?
And, nice triple post.
HTC Sense is not gpl or apache licensed. It is intellectual property of HTC. Try to get a port going if you want but it won't fly here on XDA.

Suggestions for next Fusion Theme

I'm currently working on themes for Virtuous Fusion
and I need some suggestions for what I should do next.
A base color or set of colors or a generally idea/theme to base it off.
These themes are MEANT to be very lightweight, it gives the rom a nice change without changing every single icon and menu item.
Thanks,
JD
UPDATE: The next theme is Blue and Honeycomb based Go HERE for updates on that.
Also, would anyone here be interested in a theme for royal panache?

Also, would you think it to be beneficial for me to make a flashable zip, AND a full rom zip w/ all the modifications included?

[Q] No themes for those without root?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I don't know why I can't seem to find the answer.
A while ago, we had the Androidian theme, for those of us who aren't rooted. Since T-mobile's OTA update to 2.3.4, that theme no longer works. I don't like any of the launcher programs, and was wondering why no one else bothered to make themes tow ork with our phones. I don't want to root it just to flash a new ROM since there is no use to me. I do like the stock HTC Desire HD 'theme'.. I think most of you just call it Sense. Can someone tell me why it is that there are no themes for our phones? Is it hard to make it work with our version of the UI?
Thanks in advance.

To answer your last question. What isn't it giving you.
Running a custom rom let's you fully modify your rom, themes galore. Running cm7, you have a there chooser app that let's you switch theme out constantly. If you pick sense, there's so many variety to pick from. Having your phone stock is like owning Lincoln logs, you can only do so much. If your rooted, your playing with Lego's, there's no limit to what can happen.
Edit: if you have a question, go to the q&a section. some people get annoyed, if you post in the wrong area. Just a heads up.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

That right there is more reason to root. When I was on stock I had numerous problems and numerous returns, oh and tmobiles solution to everything...a master reset. Since root I haven't had a single issue. Most of the devs roms are far more superior than the crap HTC ships on the phone or what tmobile thinks you should like. Good luck on stock themes because no one will but in the effort to theme it.

Why wouldnt u wanna root???? That crazy man.
Though I realize rooting isn't for everyone, I will make a short list of reasons to do so:
Speed, most of not all custom roms are faster than stock. That includes custom sense roms.
Battery life: underclocking and undervolting your phone can extend the battery life.
Tethering: most of us have issues paying twice for internet access. I already pay twenty bucks a month, why should I give you fifteen more to use the CAPPED internet I already pay for?!
Themeing: the options are near limitless. If you need proof, check the threads for home screens in the general Android themes section.
Removal of unwanted bloatware. Tmobile TV, games you don't want, etc.
Back up. nandroid backups are complete.
These are some of the reasons why I root. I am sure there are more!

Keyboard Switching App

Hey folks, as some of the custom ROMs for our eLTEvo's have -
a) removed Swype, and therefore removed a relatively easy way to switch keyboards (why did you do it this way HTC, why?)
and/or
b) the notification based switcher
I created a quick app, for those needing it, that I built in Tasker. Install it like any other application. When you run it, you should get the pop-up selection list of the keyboards you have installed.
Tested on CleanROM BE 2.1, and an HTC One-S running CM10/JellyBean (pre-Alpha).
Dev's - feel free to include this in your ROMs if you like. A shout-out would be appreciated. Thanks to Zach D. for testing, to Pent for creating Tasker, and Everaldo and The Crystal Project for the app icon.

Well, the definition depends on your point-of-view...
a) Solely for the purpose of this app, any ROM that has been modified to remove keyboard switching functionality.
b) If you ask a Sprint rep, any ROM that didn't come on the phone, from the factory.
c) Basically, most of the ROMs in these 2 threads, even if they have "stock" in the name -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1594
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1686
d) For further definitions, you could ask a (in alphabetical order)
1) Chuck Norris (if you dare)
2) Computer science major
3) Priest
4) Rabbi
5) ROM chef
6) ROM developer
7) Shaman
8) Witch doctor
Sorry, couldn't resist item "d", but it's partially the product of having a shot of espresso in my 3rd coffee of the morning... :silly:
Anyway, thanks for asking, as you've made me realize I built the app to only install on ICS or higher. It should work OK on Gingerbread and up if I make a simple change and rebuild it...
Thanks for sharing. It's beyond me why some devs remove this functionality. Are you sure it's linked to removing swype? I see you kind of blame HTC for the switcher, but I first noticed the notification toggle when running AOKP in my OG Evo, which I'm pretty certain didn't come with swype, and fully certain had no HTC/sense coding, so I assumed it was just new to Android 4.0+

You're most welcome. I believe some devs have removed it due to user requests or as part of bloat removal (at least from what I've read, I'm subscribed all over the eLTEvo dev place... ).
As far as Swype goes - on a stock(ish) ROM, that is where you go to (via settings), in order to switch keyboards. It's the topmost button in the Swype settings. Why HTC put it there is a mystery to me... ...but I'm not blaming them.
As far as removing the notification icon, that's a totally separate mod. As to where it originated, I have no idea. Never looked at AOKP when I was still on my OG Evo - I ran either MikG or CM7, and I don't recall seeing that in CM7. Go figure...
You wouldn't have seen it on CM7 cuz that was android 2.3. But I had it on AOKP on Evo 4g, which didn't have swype or any HTC stuff. So I'm pretty sure it's just native to Android 4.0+.
Just my thoughts. I had to pop in to redownload your app cuz I lost my Evo and actually had to buy a new one. So once again, big big thanks to you.
