Wither Froyo-Sense? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know several guys were chuggin' away on their Froyo-Sense ROMs for a bit but that seems to have hit a roadblock with Wi-Fi or Camera or something else.
Is this going to be worked on. I love my GingerTazz for sure, but I'd like to have a sense-based 2.2 rom for my wife's Eris when she finally gets fed-up and relents and lets me Root hers.
I am hereby requesting a re-initiation of work on Froyo-Sense!
Thanks!

im doing a Port right now
Nevermind, I forgot you said 2.2, im doing a 2.1

Tazz had said something earlier that all the Froyo-Sense devs hit a wall with the camera issues and all the roms werepretty much as-is until a solution is found.
Kaos needs to come and save the day.

We'll be happy to let you work at the same labor rate as all the other devs here; when can you start? LOL

Just put GSB (or any other Gingerbread ROM) on her phone, I'm not entirely sure why you would want bloated 2.2 (compared to 2.3 2.2 is slow, at least to me) and I can only imagine how much Sense slows it down. If it's just that she likes Sense, try and transition her to Launcher Pro and Fancy Widgets/Beautiful Widgets.

How about we just skip ahead and release a GingerSense rom before HTC does?

Doesn't matter, 2.4 is coming in april and everyone will leave 2.3 behind as well

The trick here is to give her something that she's already familiar with. I don't mind futzing around with new roms and actually enjoy it. She was even very hesitant to upgrading from 1.5 as it was. Sure, GingerSense sounds great!
I am in no way a developer nor do I aspire to be. I'm most grateful to all the work that has and is being done for our great little Erii.
Don't take my original post as demanding, I just wanted to stir the water a bit on froyo sense. Sorry if it came across as such.
Love ya guys/gals!

Hm. Maybe try to slowly transition her to homescreen replacements/different widgets? Possibly start out with something small like a replacement widget for one of the Sense widgets she uses?
Just rattling off ideas.

1.6 is overkill, plus if you do want one badly, I would suggest you start reading some programming dummies and bibles how to make one yourself.
your question is more like an demand request. least chip in $$$ for the developers, they might let loose, and make one to brick your phone.
this are my thoughts and suggestions after reading your respond!!

I did sound a bit demanding huh? ooops, but I'm just like anyone else out there. I'm trying to get all the best available resources for my phone. I am truly grateful for everyones work and I have donated to devs before.
Your probably right though, it is overkill but its just nice to have to show off ;-)
what the point of showing off, when in the middle showing bling bling, and DIES...that will be a total embarrassment... wouldnt you say oh ****...hides in the corner...
Early in development of JACs kernel (Maybe in the beginning of his original kernel thread) there were test pushing the .3 & .4 marks that ended up frying/bricking phones. I'm pretty sure there is a reason why no one has posted anything as "stable" past .3 or even .299 for that matter.
Im not sure how to do it our even how to read it, but I was under the impression that the cpu max is in a # value form. Worst case scenario plug in a #... What's the worst that can happen? :ekk: lol

[ROM]Pinkogen-Beta/Pinky-Beta

First of all
I am very new to the dev game
I want to put a special thanks out to Arayray who has spent several hours coaching me and teaching me many in's and outs of the Development process.
I am finally catching on but i know i have so much to learn.
For myself I have always had a passion in cell phones and do also work for tmobile.
I do not take full credit for this rom. You will notice that this is an edit to the Famous Cyanogen Mod.
This rom is more of a theme in the making and will continue to grow.
This is my idea to shift my roms that i make more for the making of the women so your wife/girlfriend will be happy and flashy with their new rom.
A few names i have thought of for this is Pinky or Pinkogenmod (as long as the cyanogen team doesnt mind or wouldnt mind teaming up)
only thing that isnt working on this Rom when you first load it up is the rom manager icon lol
its 2 a.m. and i just wanted to get this out there so i can wake up to serval posts.
Thank you all for looking and once again for you Arayray for helping me get my first rom started.
... so where is it?

And the final model and rom name
Everything is still under alot of work so dont judge me plz! haha

I think that's a great start, I doubt it'll be very long til we have something solid enough to use daily. I mean with rooted phones we're always dealing with something right? lol Either way that looks awesome to see it on an AT&T GSII.
Im excited to see 4.0 ported to our phones. This is one of the biggest jumps in Android history (namely because 3.0 wasnt for phones) and this is going to be a nice change. I like the stock look and colors a lot.

I figured this would be asked. Same thing has been asked about 1.6 - 2.1, 2.1 - 2.2, and so on.
Just wanted to share this with everyone . .
http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/18/ice-cream-sandwich-ported-to-a-galaxy-s-ii-and-the-people-rej/
Seems to me that our phones will have NO PROBLEM running the new OS. It seems DAMN SLICK. Now, no radios, WiFi, GPS, or anything. But just look at the speed its going! I'll keep my GSII anyday over the new Nexus!

ICS or GB?

(now for a opinion/statement... don't take this as a negative, the progress being made is great and all the Devs are doing one heck of a job)
ICS is the new hotness and everyone wants it... but it seems that getting it running properly is probably going to take a lot of work and time. (Tbolt still has no data for example)
That is why I am hopping for a GB port. (CM7 for example) In theory, it should be much easier to port that over than ICS right?
We can have some GB AOSP goodness to hold us over until all the kernel problems and other issues with ICS are worked out.
Now if we can get the major bits working on ICS then this is moot. As long as data, wifi, and the phone works, I can handle a few bugs and a few random reboots.
(Once again not trying to be negative or knock down the achievements being made these last few days. I have been following the threads every chance I get.)
So a question to you guys out there... what do you think?
Both are going to take a large amount of time to achieve. Seeing as we have maybe 1 AOSP GB kernel, and I'm not even sure if that works. Also the whole issue with CM7 was the RIL thanks to LTE and that took awhile for the Tbolt to iron out. Also our phone is likely to get an offical release for ICS sooner than the tbolt, and probably will be easier to adapt. Who knows it could take less time and effort this time around to get a functioning RIL. But in my eyes why would they want to dump time into CM7 especially when theres the chance for pure AOSP ICS/Sense ICS on our devices? It's not like our phones don't run great w/ the sense roms at the moment. Only thing irritating me are the bootlops w/ the kernels. Not sure if thats voltage or software stability.. Honestly at this point it would be more wise to put focus onto ICS development. With ALL the improvements that ICS offers would be foolish to stick on GB.
From what I just read in another kernel, data would be an issue regardless.
I was thinking that GB would be easier to get working. If not, then there is no need.
ICS is definitely the way to go.
Data is the usual issue when dealing with these kinds of ports. I'm not sure if anyone is working on a GB AOSP rom, or even if theyre bothering to port CM7. From what I've hard the RIL can be a real pain in the ass.
Figured that sort of thing would be made robust to make it easier to get on many different devices.
You'd think so but software fragmentation is a monster in it's own. But hopefully with ICS we will truly have a unified platform this time around.
Right now they are doing what they can. The real magic will happen after we get the ics update and the ics kernel source.

I dont know about everyone else, but my phone is running just fine on GB, GingerSense to be exact (and ran fine stock). I think at this point ICS is more of a fanboy thing. All these people want to hop on the bandwagon because it's the newest thing, without even proof it's really going to make the Android experience that much better. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something?
There is proof, it is called the Galaxy Nexus.
ICS will be worth the wait just to get the second core in our dual-core phones running.

There is nothing special about the Nexus, per se, but ICS brings further hardware acceleration and dual-core optimization. The Rezound runs rock-solid on GB, but it will be unbelievable on ICS.
Beyond that, I like the re-sizeable and scrollable widgets that are stock-ICS, which brings a great feature to people who use launchers without that ability. And ICS has some really slick widget-updates to YouTube and Gallery, among others. Not to mention finally getting an Email and Gmail widget, although they failed in not having a universal widget for all messages.

Rez Development; happy yet?

It's a [Q] but seems general enough. I was tooling around Rez xda and realized we've got a lot of action going on right now.
Remember when we all took the time to complain and complain and complain some more about the lack of development & devs working on Rez? Well, I just went from chingy51o's ineffabilis to chad0989 & mbobino's work on cm9 downloaded and pondered antp121's kang, then back to ineffabilis, flashed Sebastians kernel, applied therev29's redzound skin, who mike d's wallpaper and added zph pilot's coded splash screen.. that's utilizing a small portion of the devs work on the Rezound (which by the way is only $79 with contract now). I've got a nexus 7 and love it but still have way more love for the Rezound.. I'm using 5 different dev posts/releases for my setup right now (so no complaints here, and never really did b4 but many of us did).. how much RezDev's work are you utilizing now that we've got many options?

It is true. I had a Thunderbolt before this Rezound and the developement was awesome. Once we got s-off and ICS source code for the Rezound things are happening at an amazing speed. The developers for the Rezound are great in my opinion. It is just a hard phone to deal with. I am sure future phones will be even harder to crack!

Loving seeing these kernels, and starting to drool over who's ROM I'm gonna flash next!
Amen. Loving the activity going on right now. I know this community has had its issues but in general I think we can say that we have a pretty damn awesome bunch of folks working their magic on the Rez.

Haha I feel it. I've been here since release, it has been a good time. With all the fighting and Markus haha. Good times good times . I'll miss the devs and supporters here when we move on to the next great thing

I've never complained about lack of development.
I can't wait to see this thing run Jelly Bean though, it is running fantastic on my Gtab 10.1, my old Dinc 1, and my wife's old Fascinate I can only imagine how well it will run on the rezound.
The jellypocalypse only lasted for about a month, and wasn't just for our phone.
You know, when everyone was jelly for jelly bean (bad pun I know).

I won't be happy until I have Android Rasberry Pie and Sense 7.9
I kept telling people not to leave just because development slowed for a few weeks.
