Folio 100 inside memory - Folio 100 General

Hi to all,
probably it's a stupid question but into Folio's spech there are 16GB of memory but you can see just 12.5GB
why that?
tnks

Operating system + pre-installed apps + swap partion Still large enought for 99% of the users. To those who wan't HD movies it will be better to get a external SD card

[Q] SD Card Preperation

Hi All,
My new phone comes next Tuesday... Yippee!!
d
Anyway I have read all I can on rooting the beastie and now I have a question about the SD card...
What size SD card is ample enough for any apps that I may need 8GB, 16GB, 32GB..?
I know this is dependent on how many apps I want but generally what's the norm?
I have looked in to backing up using titanium backup and can follow the partitioning exercise using Gparted (have already done this on a HTC Desire).
How much EXT4 am I likely to need in total?
Are there other apps that use the EXT4 on the SD card?
Does App2SD use the FAT32 partition or the EXT4?
Thanks in advance
JTB
Samsung Galaxy SII, Soooooon!!!
Okay so you'll get
2GB internal PHONE memory
16GB internal SD storage
Apps will be installed to the phone's memory. (from which about 1.2 gb is left due to system software)
Android's standard A2SD does save you some memory, but meh not too much if you ask me. So that external SD you're buying is seriously just an addon for lets say Music and movies.
Because you can store a lot on the internal 16 gigs (which has only about 13-14 gigs available)

[Q] to get around 300 mb apps space+format sd to archos file system

Hi,
I am a new girl on the block :| , I searched on the site but got no answer there,
I would like to know how I am getting around the 300 mb apps space imitation
and how I can format the sd card to archos file system,
that the 101 will not know the difference between the internal and external storage
and let me install all or most apps on the sd card.
The 101 is rooted with chulri and currently running apps2sd, which some progz can't be moved to the sd.
Many thanks in advance!

check this guide out for getting more than 300mb app space http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196318
and you cant format the sdcard to 'archos file system' or rather you could format to the same file format but android will see them as two different devices, they are mounted at different locations, and theres no way to 'combine' to physical memory devices.

I suggest you use Titanium backup to move files to internal memory. Latest versions supposedly (never tested it) work with external SD cards as well..

Its important to note that you never have the full '8GB' as with all memory when manufactures state a size it is using 1000MB = 1GB when this is infact wrong as its 1024MB = 1GB so this would lower the memory a little as computer software reads memory in the correct way.
@cubocik:
As Uruk needs 500MB for the OS and under normal installation 1GB for Data, you have to live with less memory.

[Q] n9776- Internal memory ?

Hello Everyone,
It will be nice to get help from users who understand better than me the Android system.
I come from iOS, and bought 1 week ago Star Note(2?) N9776 MTk... jelly Bean Android phone.
The mobile is fun to use but, as i install some applications from the GStore,
I am also learning the functions but don't understand exactly :
The system says i have :
Internal storage (500MB)
SD card (16GB)
And Telephone storage (1.80GB) completely empty
Problem is that it is just impossible to use my apps or install some like facebook, games...
all the softs install on the internal storage ... . Why ?
Is the internal storage also the RAM used by the system ?
Why cannot i use the Telephone storage for the system and the apps ?
Why is the phone storage empty ?
If the internal memory is the RAM used by the system, why isn't it possible to use the phone properly because it is shared why the apps ?
I use now the SD memeory for the apps, but the internal storage is constantly uesd and saturated.
The system and telephone is really slow, i am asking myself if the internal storage is same as the RAM used
To run the system properly.
It is not possible to use the phone at this condition, i can't even add applocations, and the system pops me up alerts
About full storage and funstions desactivated.
Is there a way to fix this ? Put the system on the phone storage ?
Have a complete freedom of the ram, just for the system use ?
If i take back the factory datas from the system, will i have the ability to choose the right memory ?
It is not clear to me, so if you come near this post, please give me a hand about it, it is hard to understand the memory problem
From an iPhone user like me.
Thank you
I have the same phone and that has become an annoyance to me too. The supposedly 4gb in the phone the manufacture partitioned in half to be used as app data. The phone is now left with 2gb for the system and apps. So unless you are one of the only people in the world without an sd card, the phone storage is completely useless and have to install or move all your apps to sd card to gain space on the system partition.

[Q] Storage space on tablet - confused

Hi!
I have a Colorfly e708 Q1 tablet
According to the specifications it should have 8GB storage...
According to the tablet's system’s settings/storage menu, it has two internal storages (one being 1.48GB, the other being 3.76GB)
Now, I was wondering whether the two internal storages, the sum of which is 5.24GB, equal 8GB what is written in the specifications?!?
5.24GB = 8GB ?
In the android system's settings/storage my tablet shows this (yes, two internal storages are shown here):
internal storage
total space 1.48GB
available 1.29GB
internal storage
total space 3.76GB
available 3.70GB
I presume this means, that the system and installed apps take up 0.19GB and 0.06GB (sum 0.25GB) space from TOTAL and the available is what is left for me to use.
Now then, DOES this tablet HAVE 8GB or NOT?
Or do I get it wrong? Does the android system take (8GB-5.3GB=) 2.7GB space (?!?), which is absolutely not visible nor manageable for me?!
Then what takes up the 0.25GB space? All the installed APPs seen in the tablet’s settings/applications menu use 188MB, I added them together
In the android system's settings/applications menu the tablet shows:
RAM 262MB used 479MB free (sum = 741MB; this should be 1GB according to the tablet's specifications... but at least this is near to 1GB)
internal storage 188MB used and 1.3GB free (sum = 1.48GB)
SD card storage 58MB used and 3.7GB free (sum = 3.76GB)
I don't have any external microSD inserted into the tablet, so the so called SD card storage is an internal storage as well, as the settings/storage menu showed earlier.
So in my opinion the 188MB and 58 MB (sum = 246MB = 0.25GB) is the space which the system and pre-installed apps used up.
Someone told me, that tablets like this one, have system restore partition, and other partitions I cannot see, without being rooted. OK, but if the whole system takes up 0.25GB, then why would such partitions need 2.7GB?!
Or where is 2.7GB?
I don't think that my other hypothesis, that the android system would use 2.7GB, is correct ... And also that situation would rise the question (for me) mentioned earlier: what is the 0.25GB?
Please help, because I'm thoroughly confused.
If I plug in the tablet to a PC, it sees only 3.7GB capacity.
In my opinion, (what I would call "storage space"), this tablet has only 3.76GB, that is cc 4GB storage . But mybe I'm not right... I don't know
PLEASE HELP!! I bought a tablet, that was declared to have 8GB capacity. Have I been deceived/cheated or not?
