[Q] Video Chat - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

Has anyone found a good video chat app? I am looking for something that I can chat between my Atrix and my Macbook.

Under Android Market .. search for Qik Video for Atrix .. works like a charm, utilizes the front camera on the Atrix 4G.

I downloaded Qik, but I couldn't figure out how to use it on my laptop. There doesn't seem to be a desktop client.

I'm looking for this as well.
Qik looks to be mobile-to-mobile only, and Skype has no video on Android. Skype recently bought Qik though, so it's likely they'll release something eventually ... but that doesn't help us yet.
Yahoo and ooVoo are alternatives I've found on Google for Android, but both are limited to specific devices (which of course doesn't include the Atrix as of yet).
On a somewhat related topic, I'm also looking for a video chat program (for PC/Linux) that would let me record both ends of a live video chat -- this is for the purpose of starting a library of videos discussing family history with relatives that are not local.

FRING
FRING is also a good video chat, but also NOT working on Atrix yet....

Good to know, I was just thinking about trying it.
Fring though only appears capable of doing video chat from mobile-to-mobile. It supports text and probably voice chat to a variety of other services, but not video. It seems that they did support Skype video at some point, but then dropped the feature.
I wonder what makes video chat from phone-to-PC so difficult . . .

Oovoo works on the atrix...Tango is the best client but is not supported on the Atrix yet. I e-mailed Tango along with other users and they replied that they just got their hands on the device and are working on a fix

[Q] Qik calling on Dell Streak?

So I was just on the tmobile site looking at the Streak 7 and while reading the description it said
Talk Live with T-Mobile® Video chat powered by Qik™ with front and rear-facing cameras

and then saw this after a quick google
Today we are introducing an exciting new version of Qik Video, which will be available on the new Sprint HTC EVO 4G. Qik Video brings a powerful set of video capabilities to your mobile phone so you can share and experience events as they happen, even if you can’t be there. With Qik, you can attend a meeting across the country and feel like you are truly there, watch your child’s performance LIVE on your mobile phone, or pick up a video mail message from a friend who wants to share an exciting adventure.

I tried looking on the android market, but the version on there doesn't have a video calling feature. Is there an .apk for it floating around?
I really want to try this as it has much more features (and better quality possibly) than Fring.
floating around right here....
just hit thanks button!
Thanks!
But this doesn't have the video call option?
probably not for us streakers... sorry.
email the Qik team and tell em to get going with an update damnit.
We should send them a bunch. Video calling in the states is lagging SO far behind the UK.
I hope someone develops an IM program that supports the streaks FFC too. The yahoo apps webcam support is a joke. I was getting like 1 frame/5 seconds and at really low res

Skype Video for Android?

Has anyone come up with a way to use Skype for Android to be able to place video chat calls? The fact that the Archos 101 has a front facing camera really makes me wish this would work. But the Skype available in the Google Market does not support video chat.
I've heard that the HTC Thunderbold and the new Moto BIONIC will both have Skype Video integrated.
Are we basically waiting on another android device to have that functionality so we can reverse engineer it onto our devices? Or is there another way around this limitation?
Skype is still working on getting video calling to Android. They just purchased Qik too, which should help!

It seems they "sold" the first working video version of skype to Motorola, so once the xoom is out, there'll be Skype AKPs floating around... with the hope that it doesn't heavily rely on Honeycomb.
I think Verizon gets first dibs on Skype video chat. Then probably after a year it will be open to all devices.
Moved to general as not andorid development
I have been using Tango. It works great.

well "Skype with Video" was just released for the Thunderbolt only ... waiting on a fine XDA member to crack it for the rest of the mass (xoom please!)
link can be found @ Androidandme ....won't post it here

[Q] Skype "Support"?

A video link was posted in one of the threads here, in which the presenter said that the SGSII "supports" Skype.
Was that a dumb person's way of saying it has a fraont facing camera? Or has anyone actually ready anything specific about the SGSII coming preloaded with Skype?
Just wondering...
I hope it has video enabled Skype preloaded... but probably it won't have.
Most probably the woman in the video had no technical skills at all and just said that because it has a front facing camera... we'll see.
In either case, Skype is available via the market place, does it not support front facing camera?
I don't own a Android device as of yet so do not know. Can anyone confirm?

Skype is available in the Android Market, however there isn't a video-call support for Skype as of now, on Android.
There are a few videos/articles floating about that there's a version of Skype designed specifically for the HTC Thunderbolt that supports video calling over 3G/4G.
Perhaps that's what the person would be referring to? That the particular version of Skype for video calling could also come with the S II. Anyway this part's just my speculation.
Thats BS, I use Skype on the iPhone to do a low of video calling with my clients, it would suck if I cannot do that any longer.
What a turn off.
Going to bump this, anyone tried installing skype on the new S2 to see if video works?
someone from my local forum said that Fring has video support for sgs2
I have skype installed. It doesn't appear to have a video call option.

I can confirm that, no video support in Skype it seems.
just audio calls on skype, no video option maybe soon in update?
Skype's days are numbered one way or the other ... or do you really think Microsoft is going to offer a competitive Android client? (Would be a first, that one.)

[Q] Skype?

I have seen all of these threads about how skype works now with the new update.
I don't even know where to get skype for my phone!
The market has a skype but it doesn't have video....
... where can i get a skype app that I can video chat with?
Skype for Android with video capability has not yet been released.
Skype and 2.3.4
Skype 2.0.0.27 works fine in 2.3.4 as far as the audio that made the app unusable before. It works crisp clear (Wi-Fi have not tried 3g) . No signs of video as of today. As I understand skype is working on the matter.

[Q] Has anyone gotten GTalk Video Chat to work?

I plan on buying a Flyer/stylus for work tomorrow, but was curious if anyone had tried GTalk's video chat, or if it is even available on the Flyer yet? I've read that it's not, but I know there are differences... If not GTalk, is anyone using any other Video chat apps? Qik? ooVoo? Fring? I'd like to use my Flyer to see my Daughter who lives 2,000 miles away from me...
Thanks in advance!
I tried out vtok (Google mobile video chat or something like that) and was able to get it to work, but the quality was pretty bad.
