[Q] Lol? Motoblur gone! - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed launcher pro, but when I hit the home key, instead of prompting which launcher I wanted to use, it just automatically took me into Launcherpro.
Even though I hate it, blur seems to be gone forever... wtf?
it's not even in apps/app manager/all

It's still there. If you uninstall LP you'll go back to the default motoblur set up. Download "home switcher" if you want to be able to switch between the two, or reset the defaults for LP in your application manager.

You have to download the Moto Home Fix (somethin like that. Just type Moto home in and see if it pops up).

[Q] Make Zeam default launcher

Just found this after multiple mentions in the bionix thread. I downloaded it and love it but cannot figure out how to make it my default launcher. It is currently running like an app aka I have to tap on it to start it and when I hit the home button it defaults back to twiz.
I am running bionix 1.6 which is JI6 based so long pressing the home key ( I think thats how I used to change the default launcher) now brings up the task manager.
So basically its loaded, its working but hitting the home key brings twiz back. I dont mind leaving twiz on I just want to default to zeam.
Any ideas? I have tried uninstalling and re-installing from market to no avail.
Install Home Switcher from the market.
Click home and click "Default"
that should do it.

Perfect.
Thanks so much
Also another way that doesnt require installing a app is Hit <menu>-<Settings>-<Apllications>-<Manage Applications>. Then hit <Menu>-<Filter> and set it to All. Tap on TWLanucher and there should be a button that says "Clear Defaults". Hit that and next time you hit home, it should pop up a list of lanchers and a check box to set that as default.

default launcher wont stay default.

on villain rom 2.4.2 and use launcher pro
last few days whatever launcher I choose , the launcher won't stay as default after ive ticked the box.
happens on tw launcher asell so is not launcher pro.
have cleared defaults in mange applications numerous times
have reinstalled launcher pro.
have frozen some apps, so that could be a culprit. but none I would of thought would cause this issue.
anyone got any ideas?
any help much appreciated before I reflash vr.
have also tried home switcher app to clear the defaults and choose but still same issue.
a restart has fixed the issue for about 5 mins before, but it always starts again
this unfortunately happens from time to time with launcher pro. I love the launcher but the application has not been updated in a while. just press the home button and it should automatically bring back launcher pro.

just pressing the home button leaves the select your launcher window up. I think our problems are different.
launcher pro is working fine, even if I select touch wiz as my default launcher, enter an app, then press the home key it asks me again to select the launcher and the default tick box.
same as when I reboot the phone, first thing it asks me is what launcher I want!
think I'm gonna wipe and reflash, but just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this problem. as this only started a week after I flashed villain rom, so don't think, its rom related either.
Other than having to change my default launcher on boot, I'm quite happy with my nexus 7. Wonder if the stock launcher can be removed without crippling the system.

[Q] Default Launcher won't stay default

First of all I have a Sprint Epic Touch 4G AKA Samsung Galaxy 2 S and not rooted, but I think this is an Android problem after 4 days of trying to find a solution.
I keep getting prompt to select which launcher(launcher or twlauncher) when I press the home button. I would select set as default and then select twlauncher. This would work fine and I could do what I want and the home button acts normally. BUT if I long press the home button to bring up task manager and a list of recent apps, it would break the default setting on twlauncher. I could go to setting and manage app and see that the default on twlauncher is now cleared even though I did not manually clear it. I tried checking set as default and then select launcher. It too won't stick AFTER I long press the home button.
Long story short, I downloaded several launchers from the market and none of them will stay set as default IF I long press the home button. It breaks the default every time and ask me to select the launcher to use when I press the home button. Now this would be great if I could just delete all the other launcher and have only one but I can't delete the stock launcher or twlauncher.

So the first time this happen, I was driving down the road using telenav when I see the prompt to select which launcher(something that I've never seen after using the phone for 2 weeks). Did some research elsewhere and found no solutions so here is what I have done in chronological order:
1. Start task manager and kill all active app and clear memory from RAM
2. Clear defaults from manage application....twlauncher
3. Click home button, click set as default and then launcher instead of twlauncher- still does not stick after long press home button.
4. Manage application...twlauncher CLEAR DATA (sure enough my neatly organized homepage and apps folder was reset to stock).
5. Pull battery
6. Cycle power on and off.
7. Gave up after 24 hours and factory reset the phone.
8. Went on my merry way and reinstall apps and customizing home page and apps pages and so on.
9. In hindsight, I should have long press home button every time I installed a new app to see which one will break the default.
10. Phone works fine for 24 hours and then it mysteriously acts up again. It ask me to choose which launcher again.
11. Went back to googling and tried the following which did not work:
a. clear media hub data and default
b. installed Sprint "clean" ID and then later deleting it.
c. installed go launcher and see if it will stick
d. installed launcher pro
e. installed home switcher
f. I don't have Qik or some child lock apps
g. search XDA and found about 15 threads and tried everything in those thread short of using Titanium to freeze one launcher.
Any update on a working solution? Right now I just won't long press the home button to bring up task manager or recent apps and everything will work just fine. Minor annoyance but I guess I can live with it until the ICS update.
its because the task manager is part of TWlauncher and will break the default launcher selection when you use it

No it won't break the default launcher on my wife's stock Samsung epic 4 G touch. I could long press the home button and it won't ask me to choose which launcher when I press the home button.
Fixed Default Laucher Problem.
So I decide to finally root the phone and install Calk's Rom 2.0. Everything was working great but finally, long press the home button breaks the default launcher again. There was only two launchers installed by default. Launcher Pro and TWLauncher. I wiped Dalvik Cache but the problem resurfaced after a few long press.
I launched ES File Explorer, enable root access, show hidden files, navigate to system/app and rename LauncherPro.apk to LauncherPro.bak. That fixed the problem and I rebooted just to make sure. Since there is only one launcher available now, I can't break the default launcher anymore no matter how many time I long press the home button.
Have you tried uninstalling the original home app???

What do you mean by "original home app"? Home switcher, launcher, twlauncher?
I did not find the option to uninstall LauncherPro in Calk 2.0 ROM and no option to freeze it using appextractor either. But renaming the extension to .bak did the trick. I like twlauncher better than launcherpro anyway.
No need to flash new rom or do a factory reset
Rooted Galaxy S4 i337 ATT
I had the same problem and did a factory reset that temporarily solved the problem but that is definitely not the solution.
The problem is the third party software that could be any app (for me was"Photoid Pro")
The Solution: When it happen for the first time (you must reboot after each App installation and if you are prompted to select a Launcher) immediately delete the app you just installed and reboot again, I am sure you will be back to your default launcher.
If already have the problem you should install "Launcher Switcher" from "google play" open and if you see anything beside your launchers Delete them and that would set you back to default launcher.
Install One App at a time so you know the culprit.

[Q] How did I lose my stock launcher?

So since SPB Shell 3D isn't working correctly for me I downloaded Home Switcher from the market so I can switch back to the Stock Launcher w/o having to uninstall SPB. I opened the program and saw a list of Launchers to pick.
Agile Lock
Home (Moto-Blur)
Launcher Pro
SPB Shell 3D
The top said that SPB was my default. So I chose Home (Motorola) as my new default and clicked launch. It then went to me stock launcher home screen. Everything seemed great. Then the next time I clicked the home key, it defaulted back to SPB. Home Switcher does not allow me to set anything other than SPB as the default launcher. So I uninstalled SPB completely so I can run the stock launcher with no issues. Suddenly, it decides to load Launcher Pro instead. Again, I went back to Home Switcher and set Moto-Blur as my default launcher. I clicked launch and it took me back to my Motorola Homescreen. Again I thought everything was okay until I hit the Home key and it defaulted to Launcher Pro. Wtf! So in a last ditch effort, I uninstalled Launcher Pro also and pressed home to go back to my Motorola Homescreen only to be met with a black screen. My Stock Launcher was gone. I could still see my notofication bar and if I hold the home button I get my recent app list. So I chose Home Switcher and was able to launch the Moto Launcher from there. Then I reinstalled Launcher Pro and it works okay. So it seems that somehow I lost my Stock Motorola Launcher. How could that happen? And how can I fix it? Factory Reset? All these other guys running SPB say they love it and have no issues. Why won't it work correctly on this phone? Even with the stock messaging app, she is still getting the repetition of text messages.

If you go into "manage apps" and the stock launcher app does it give you the option to set it as default? The Home Switcher app may not be setting it properly.
Did you post this in Android Forums as well? I'd try Homesmack to see if you can restore the stock launcher.

[Q] -SOLVED- Work around twlauncher crash loop w/o wipe?

--twlauncher crash problem solved, see below. Feel free to answer general question though
Hi all!
Ran into a problem with my Galaxy S that I'd be really greatful if you could help me with.
THE QUESTION:
Is there some way of accessing the phone from my PC via USB and changing settings?
THE THING:
I have been running my system without problem for a while. Haven't made a backup though, stupid #%ยค as I am. When I was using the (stock) Internet browser I tried to add a (mobile) web page to the Start panel (or whatever it is called). Since then I get the error message "The application Start (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly." Gives option to "Force Close". Whenever I do, the error comes back after a few seconds if I am at the default screen and don't quickly go into the phone or sms app. Basically, I can't do anything that my Ericsson T10 couldn't do in 1999...
I think all of my "start screens" were already filled with apps, that there wasn't room for another, and this might be the problem that causes the twlauncher crash loop.
THE QUESTION (again, in context):
So, is there some way of accessing the phone from my PC via USB and changing settings? During my searching I've come to believe that two possible solutions might be to clear twlauncher's settings or to set another launcher as default, but in the current state I can't get to the settings neither from the started phone or from the Darky recovery console.
I know I could just wipe and reinstall everything but that feels like nuking a mosquito...and it's so tedious... If there is some smoother way to get at the problem that would be nice. Also I'm curious if it can be done, and I'm probably not alone.
THE SYSTEM:
Samsung Galaxy S (GT I9000)
Rooted
Android 2.2.1
Darkys' ROM v9.4 Extreme edition
Voodoo
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!
/Fredrik
Ok folks, I am happy again!
It seems things fix themselves for me if I only write a thorough post on some forum...
I went to android market with my PC, logged in with my google account (where I had apparently added my phone before) and downloaded another launcher (ADW) to replace my crashed twlauncher. After that I fiddled some more with the phone - obviously turned off network mode from the power menu (the menu that you get when holding the power button 3 sec). And then I wrote the above post.
Just now I was going to make a phone call (which was about the only thing working, remember?) but the screen had gone all black except from the status bar at the top, which didn't respond when I tried to pull its menu down. Brought up the power menu. At first it didn't respond to my touch but after a while it agreed to turn on network mode for me. Then ADW downloaded and installed itself. I still couldn't pull down the status bar menu to click on the "Download complete" icon and launch ADW that way, but I pressed the Home button and got a menu asking "Complete this task with:" and some choices. I ticked the box "always use this program" and selected ADW. Now, ADW started and I am back on track! No wipe or reinstall needed!
SO, short version solution to twlauncher crash loop: log into your Android market account from a PC, search for "launcher" and install one of your choice, then wait for the phone to download and install it. Then press Home, tick "Always use this program to complete this task" and select your new launcher!
Yeah, that solved my problem with Tw.launcher but if anyone has an answer to the question in the thread - is there a way to log into the phone from a PC to change settings - feel free to share your knowledge!
Addition - resetting twlauncher to be able to use Kies
Ok, after installing another launcher as described above, proceed with the following to prevent twlauncher from crashing in the future. You will need to this do if you want to connect with your computer using Kies, since Kies apparently cannot connect to other launchers (such as GO launcher or ADW).
1. Open Settings | Applications | Manage Applications.
2. Go to the tab "All" and scroll down and tap on twlauncher (or maybe it is called something else, on mine it is "Start" - check the twlauncher crash message to get it, or follow the instructions below under "Another way..." to find it in the Home button menu. You still need to complete the whole procedure to get it running though).
3. Tap the "Clear data" button. This clears your settings, i.e. the app shortcuts that you put on your start screens.
DONE!
In my case I believe the twlauncher crash was due to adding one more shortcut to an already full app drawer, so when I cleared the settings I can use twlauncher again.
USING TWLAUNCHER TO CONNECT WITH KIES
Now you can use the Home Swithcher app to launch twlauncher if you want to use Kies, and when you are done you can use Home Switcher again to switch back if you prefer the other launcher you installed.
Another way to get back to twlauncher if you don't have Home Switcher, is to go to Settings | Applications | Manage Applications, find your current launcher (e.g. GO launcher or ADW) and tap the "Clear default" button. Then (when you have exited back to the start screen) if you press the Home button, you will be asked which launcher you would like to use to complete the task. Select twlauncher (or "Start" whatever it's called). After you're done with Kies you can switch back the same way if you don't want to use twlauncher as default.

Such a great thread and no one else has added anything else to it I'm dealing with this crap atm and it is even worst. Holding power doesn't pop up the power menu. Cant access settings. I can bring the notification bar down and turn on wifi but it doesnt actuallly connect to my wifi so I can't do the remote app installation from the web store. I really don't want to do a factory reset.
as was asked here, is there a way to clear the data of the TWLAUNCHER app by using my pc and usb connection to the phone? I'm able to turn on usb storage and access it. Halp!
