[Q] DX/D2 Boot Logo Changer - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

I was wondering if this app would work on the Atrix, since it is made for Motorola phones. I just do not want to wing it and mess up my beautiful, brand new phone. If anyone could explain why this would or would not work that would be great.

I don't think it would work because of the Atrix's screen resolution 540x960 while most Motorola phones are 480x854 but I could be wrong good luck

It'll work the boot animation just won't be the right size for your screen, which means there will be a black border around.

I can verify that you can put custom boot screens on your phone, I just put this one on my phone using Root Explorer.

Does anyone wave back to the android boot screen?

I know I and my girlfriend do
haha, new years spirit(s)?
I can't say I have but I probably will now you've mentioned it. It was a much preferred bootscreen to the t-mobile one though.

will an i9000 screen work on a vibrant?

hey guys getting a vibrant with a cracked digitizer for my g/f. correct me if im wrong but it appears to be next to impossible to replace just the digitizer from what i read.... (please comment if you have done it) i see the i9000 parts are cheaper everywhere but the buttons are different. i wont be running a stock rom on it and i plan on adding a ffc so....
1. would it be physically possible to use the i9000 replacement screen on it?
2. would the buttons be a problem? not sure what the square one on the i9000 is (trackpad?) or where the home button is if there is one....
3. does anyone have a clue or am i the first to bring this up? i have searched my self silly!
4. digitizers are cheap should i just try to replace it? whos done it and what do you glue the new screen with? (i cant find any decent write ups)
i know the i9000 and vibrant have diff roms but im hopping that has to do with the radios etc. maybe i can edit the keyboard file or something to make it work.. but not sure about that pad thing...
i know this is alot of questions and i dont expect one answer. if anyone has any knowledge on any of this id really appreciate it and thanks in advance!!! id like to join the samsung crew as ive always had htc (since g1) but always secretly wanted a samsung too haha so what better excuse than to get the gf one

Sorry to tell you but the i9000 screen wont work at all. You will mess up your phone up big time if you start messing with the screen/digitizer as its one unit. Call samsung repair and that may be your best bet for a new screen replacement.

It's not possible.
Call Samsung, maybe you can get it replaced for free (or really cheap).
I'm guessing that you don't have a warranty with T-Mobile, because they cover this (my screen was damaged, and I got a replacement).
The 'pad thing' is actually a big iPhone style physical home key - it's plasticky and ugly, and the reason I got the Vibrant over the i9000. You definitely won't be able to use i9000 components on the Vibrant, the i9000 screen and digitizer are built to accommodate that button, not the Vibrant's four capacitive keys.
They have the same back, though, so you can use i9000 cases and battery doors just fine.

Well if I used the i9k parts I would swap housing LCD and digitizer all together so the button and everything would be there. I'm pretty sure it would physically go on but not sure if I can get the buttons to actually work. I know you can edit the keypad file as I've done it on my mytouch 4g but not sure if that's all I'd need to do or not :/ figured someone might have been in a situation that they tried it and couldn't hurt to ask. I have warrenty and insurance on my mytouch but I'm buying the broken vibrant out right so I'd think I could buy the parts and put them in myself cheaper than anyone would charge... I've repplaced the screens on several phones already so not a problem there. Guess that's what ill do.
Another thing Id consider is the vibrant 4g screen as it has the spot for the ffc unpainted already and everything else appears identicle but only place I see it for sale there's a min 2 per order >< has anyone ever successfully replaces just the digitizer? Its sold seporate for 35 and I read you need a new ribon as its almost impossible to pull LCD from digitizer without tearing the cable.

White vs. Brushed back, better chance to find unlocked w/ white?

I assume the difference between the two backs is purely cosmetic. Seems the white ones were made first? Would there be a better chance of finding a white back unlocked vs a brushed one?
Thanks
I have the Grey one that I just bought 2 days ago from Staples. 16 GB and it is unlocked.
locked or unlocked doesnt really matter, since you can flash and kernel ect with locked bootloader tab
what else do you need ?!
Hello,
Just a question, ... how do you know if Gtab 10.1 is lock or unlock ?

When booting up the screen shows Galaxy Tab 10.1 and at the very bottom center of the screen there's an image of an unlocked lock. If the bootloader IS locked you will not see any lock when booting.
In my experiences, the 16gb gray tab I got first from Best Buy had a locked bootloader. An identical model of the same color i bought on eBay WAS unlocked. I bought the one from Best Buy only because i was too impatient to wait on the eBay one to come in the mail. I never planned on keeping both since i got the one on eBay $50 cheaper. And when i discovered the unlocked bootloader I was even happier. So the one from Best Buy went back the next day after i flashed my CWM backup from it to the other one.
Do we need to unlock the bootloader to run roms
I got both white 32GB and black 16GB from BestBuy and they are both unlocked.
I understand that both can be rooted and CWM can be used and they will work the same, but of course I would love to get one that is unlocked. Why? I have no real reason, just because.
Do I want to go through the hassle of returning it? Probably not, but I have 12 more days to decide and to see if anything is actually wrong with it. Like I said in a previous thread, my luck I would return a perfect one that is locked for a not so perfect locked or if I am lucky an unlocked one that has problems.
My 16gb silver back is from Staples and its locked, man I wish they pulled a different box for me!

No, you just root (takes 2min) and load a ROM with Rom Manager for example.

basically a ROM contains the OS of a device, it may be more or less modified...

You have to get lucky to get an unlocked tab. So maybe try cregs list or something were they know their tab is unlocked if u want 1 that bad. Otherwise just root ur locked tab.
so once it is rooted, it is unlocked? i rooted mine the minute i got home.
What is the difference this is my first android tablet and you can flash even if its locked. I found mibe is unlocked and its brushed

Nope, totally different things. Rooted means you (and programs you permit) can run as the "superuser" (aka "su") in unix-speak, allowing you access to certain otherwise unavailable system functions such as the ability to mount the system folders on your device and make changes to them.

The bootloader is the code that runs when your device is first powered, even before it runs the normal OS, recovery, or anything else. It's like the BIOS on a PC. The bootloader can also apply update files to the system. This can include custom ROMs and system updates. If the bootloader is locked, however, this function is unavailable to the user.
Fortunately for you folks with locked bootloaders, there are other ways to flash our Tabs, such as ODIN and nvflash. They essentially do the same thing, i.e., allow you apply updates to your system including custom ROMs. So there's probably no big difference for owners of locked devices as long as the updates and ROMs they want to use are made available in the appropriate format by the devs.
I feel like my brushed metallic tab is heavier than the white one I had? Am I insane or anyone else think this?
Basically I bought one from BB because I was too impatient to wait a week until I ordered one off amazon with giftcards for ALOT cheaper.
after I returned the white tab (with extreme ease actually, no questions asked about the used tab) and opened the brushed metallic, I SWEAR and even now holding it that it is heavier.
Im probably crazy, because Im sure it has to be made of the same materials.
Also both my white and brushed tabs were both locked.

I had both a white and a metal Tab at the same time. They weigh the same.
Perhaps your metal Tab has more GBs? Greater number of installed programs? More music loaded? These would all cause it to be heavier, of course.

[Q] LCD Density

Hi,
Have just bought the Xperia S and is still under warranty, so don't want to tamper by unlocking the bootloader yet, not for a couple of months at least. Anyways I'm quite happy with the stock ROM, bloatware and all!!
However, the only thing I'm unhappy about, is the LCD density. I'm used to a value of 160 (on my old warhorse HTC HD2 with TyphooN_CM7_v3.7.0-MAGLDR - Android 2.3.7). Now, I know it's a silly question, but is there ANY way I can alter the LCD Density without rooting it??
Thanks,
JK

If you want bigger text you could try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.bfont
Some of my friends use it with great success.
Not with out root, but i messed about with that setting myself and changing it messes things up.
Things like the text/images on some menus dont fit right anymore or are off the bottom of the screen.
Its best to leave it as it is really

What value are you trying it at? Try 220 or 160 (I'm not sure of this value on the XS - TREAD CAREFULLY). My HTC had some problems, including unavailability of Google Play downloads, but a value of 160 did the trick.

Thanks, but I wanted some more screen real estate!
Default Density in buid.prop is 320 if i change it to 300 things are to small to fill the screen and if i go up to 330 things are to big to fit on the screen.

ICS should offer the ability to change font size, which is probably preferable to changing the screen density - with the problems with how other things fit (or don't fit) the screen.
Does anyone use the BBC News widget/app? For some reason on all Xperia models, I only get one line of text on headlines. On other models, you get two. It's clearly a fault of the app, but suggests an issue with the font Sony (Ericsson) uses. Again, I hope that ICS might fix this with the Roboto font.

I think I'll leave things as they are and wait for ICS. Could you please post some screenshots showing how it looks when you change the density? Just curious.

We just received this phone as well and will be putting a full review up soon on youtube and the site. It appears the phone is either an OEM or copy (more likely) ZP800H / ZP810. Beyond looks and specs, it installs "ZP800H" drivers when plugged into a PC.
I will have a full video review up soon on the site today and attempt some auto root methods as well.

Okay, the good news is the phone isn't bricked. Bad news is Bin4ry method certainly doesn't work. Tried both normal and special modes.
I bought this phone pre-rooted from MeriMobiles. If by the time i get it (2 weeks give or take) there is no root, i'll be happy to share a dump of the rom to help get it rooted

Just received this phone, wondering how I would go about rooting it? I have been told its a clone of the zp900H, however, mine is a quad core.

Interesting. The ZP900H is the same as ZP910. What's the screen resolution in yours? if it is a ZP900H it should be QHD

Yes, that is what I said I have in my original post, I mentioned the other ones because I'm told mine is pretty much a clone of them at least with regards to size and looks of the phone. It's not too common of a phone, I haven't seen much in the way of information on this phone, just thought it was a very decent phone ( better than my SG2 in most all areas)
My son suggested maybe seeing if I could find information on rooting it, hense my post and question here.
ahhhh, i always forget you can have titles on posts on this forum >_<
I think MT6890 phones are a bit too new, thus the lack of development so far. Should pick up at least enough to get root soon
Its okay. Unfortunately the screen got cracked tonight by accident Messaged the supplier but not sure what they can do for me. I only just got the phone a few days ago. Hopefully I can send it back to get a screen replacement. Thank you for your replies.

Does your phone come with CWM or just with the stock recovery(3e)? If it has CWM installed, you can root it easily with a flashable zip file.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked, and sadly it is the stock recovery (3e). I would try to flash CWM if there was a way, but I don't think there is without a bricking yet.
I also found there is a factory mode for this phone however (pwr + vol dwn) and it contains a plethora of options, problem is, it's all in chinese. I saw an option called GPS, it was followed by chinese characters, so I was too afraid to select anything.
i just rooted my phone H7500+

How did you manage to crack the screen? Is this a glass screen by the way?
I really like my H7500+, have it since March 19 and I really love the extremely great WiFi coverage. The GPS works with mine, takes about 2 to 3 minutes to get a sat lock. I tried Sygic today, just on my way home (walking) and the signal from the satellites seem to be strong enough.
great phone, a bit heavy, true, yet still a great phone.
