Optimus Me P350 - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hi. I'm thinking about buying P350, but when i was watching youtube video i saw that there's a problem similar to that with P500 touchscreen. It also lags when touching. P500 has almost the same hardware spec(mainly screen size, but that's little difference), so i'm wondering if fixing this would be avalible.

http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_me_p350-3735.php. If it's this one , forget it . Totally not worth it bro.
Besides by summer phone prices should drop pretty handily cause of the new wave of super rocket propelled phones that will start shipping .
At best I recommend you at least try to buy P500 , it's head and shoulders better than P350 , at least as a transitionary phone until you can get your hands on bigger guns

Working in Lg and used as a test user in Optimus Me and i guess u tt u should try to buy p500. Im using it too and not lag on screen as u saw.
Just try to flash the lastest to fixed this lag by mil_os.

just bought this device on 26 march, works great and no lag at all .. got this thing at $130

Less internal memory
240 x 320 pixels, 2.8 inches screen (that's QVGA!) spec... Have fun finding decent apps!
1250mAh battery would suck too.
No mention of CPU or GPU...
All the above = Hardly the same hardware spec..
Probably alright for the price but after trying a friends QVGA phone and seeing all the apps that don't show in the market, I would NEVER have an Android device with less than HVGA.

First i can find a lot of apps( because 98% of apps can adapt to any screen resolution) and second, why is CPU bad? It can get overclocked to 600Mhz with stock kernel and even to 800Mhz with custom kernel. The phone is lightning fast even at 600 not to mention 800.And the battery is not that bad either without overclock but even with overclock to 600 it lasts a day.As for tje internal memory well it is kinda low but i have a 16GB microSD card i can keep 25~30MB of internal memory free.Just move all apps to the SD card.I never regreted buying this phone since its rather cheap and has a lot to offer(esspeialy if you flash a custom 2.3.x rom which,by the way, improves battery life and speed overall). If you want to buy a decent cheap phone than you should buy this one.Its tottaly worth the money.

Without modding I admit it is.(except for “lot of apps“ part. Why dont you understand android apps are mostly NOT made for a specific screen resolution so ANY app that works on p500 will most likely work on p350 http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html )And for the internal memory part you can always fet a ROM that supports an ext1 ext2 and FAT sd card artitions. With those partitions you can use the FAT partition to extend the internal memory. But still if you want to buy this phone and mod it a little the only thing that p500 has better is screen. And to some that isnt important becouse of p350 has a very low price.

This phone or X8?

they both have the same price and both are pretty similar. i am wondering which phone can run games better? and how does 256k colors impact picture quality? because x8 xperia has 16mil colors.
well, in terms of games, the X8 has a 1200 mAh battery while the LGOO has 1500 mAh's. thats going to give you some more battery time to play games. and as an owner of the LGOO, i can say that games look fine. even if the X8 has more colors, I dont think you'll see much of a difference if the games arent made to take advantage of the higher color range.
another thing is the X8 uses a skinned version of android while the LGOO has a pretty stock version of 2.2 with most of the original features. if you like time scape, then cool, but i personally dont like it at all.

What drew me to the OO as opposed to the X8 was the amount of RAM: 512MB on the OO vs. 168MB on the X8 and of course Android 2.2 versus 1.6 on the X8.
I've tested phones with higher color screens, but I haven't noticed any real-life difference due to the 256k color limit, neither during gameplay nor during movie/photo viewing.
In the end, they're both budget Android phones so (advanced) gaming simply isn't their forté, but I reckon the OO will do a better job under most circumstances.
thx for replies. just found that OO has some bug where cpu load goes up to 100% when you touch the screen, i wonder will it be fixed or the phone is made to work this way
The problem of CPU load when touch the screen happens with another devices to.
My brother have a Motorola Milestone and the same happens running Android 2.1.
choose LGOO
had the same dilemma last week
I went with optimus
because :
a.)FROYO vs 1.6 in x8 -(2.1 is the latest I heard from SE but still, check web between the difference of 2.1 and 2.2 it's HUGE.
b.)The built is much better for me, more solid, a bit heavier, but it's bec of the more powerful battery(believe me you'll need battery!!!!)
pocket legend works fine on optimus one
os: android 2.2 vs android 1.6
ram: 512mb vs 168mb
battery: 1500mah vs 1200mah
display: 3.2'' vs 3.0''
OO wins
you cant possibly see any difference between 16m color screen and 256k, theyre just nubers to raise the price
the human eye can recognise up to 70k colors as ive heard anyway... so both are above your capabilities ,unless ur some super-eye man
Used X8 for couple of weeks and then got Optimus One and Optimus One is much nicer to use. Its faster and Android 2.2 makes everything smoother to run
OO is better
Of course the OO is better in every range, but I think They're not the same price.
Here in Hungary the OO is almost two times expensive than the X8. It is because service providers haven't sold the OO yet
What about buy this phone form another country? eBay for ex? Or you have bad feel about warranty?

Sadly, it's total bull.
I've seen the (awesome) live background Artemia on better screens (with more colors) and it looks definitely better, less banding and less visible dithering (the colors flow into one another more naturally).
I think Artemia is a quite good way to show off why the OO's screen isn't really good.
Still, I'd vote for this phone. I love how it never runs out of memory (as opposed to the Samsung Galaxy). Plus, it's cheapish

Does the optimus one really have 512 megs of ram?
Why would those useless at LG only put 256 megs of ram into the LG Optimus T (the t-mobile version of the optimus one, identical, except I guess the ram). I have two LG Optimus T phones on the way from ebay (they work with Wind Mobile in Canada) and i'm that the Optimus one has more ram than it does.

Looool it looks just like ZTE blade , but it has a few too many downsides . 256 ram , big resolution for qualcomm 7227 600 mhz :-s . And also it comes prepacked with 2.1 . And considering the fact it's practically a pretty no-name phone ( compared to O1 which sold about 2 million units in less than an year ) you can probabily guess that it doesn;'t have the same support by the community.
Being stuck on 2.1 is a very sad thing.
Cheers
Go for galaxy ace?
first off its got support with the cyanogen devs I men its listed on their first page so how can u say its not widely supported plus ram is unlockable to 512 mb..i have heard that zte blade or san francisco as it is called is very famous and has many roms.. further reading also showed that higher resolution makes the display gorgeous though it might get a bit slow.....as for samsung ace it doesn't even have a community ..when buying android phone s community is a must..ace will never get official gingerbread..the hardware is same as our o1 too nothing worth its price
Ps zte blade already has an official cm7 unstable port at cyanogen site
too large resolution for only a 600 mhz chip.
it will definitely put a strain on it just to process graphics. lower refresh rate and definitely lower fps.
and no official gingerbread update from zte is a big downside. and the battery is only 1250mah?
about galaxy ace, it doesn't have a good community support as optimus one, and i think it will be stuck on froyo cause it seems samsung is not going to upgrade it anymore.
i say stick to your optimus one first and just invest and save money on a better product that has a better support and that is known.
How is Xperia X10 running it???? SOny phones have such high resolutions
O1 rules . At first i was not happy because scrolling was not smooth i got frustrated n decided to sell this phone and get htc desire but after discovering this wonderful community and installing Megatron and mikos kernel for lag fix i am very happy with my phone. I would say that this phone sucks with the stock Rom. But once you install custom Rom you will feel that its speed has increased 2x. hardware of this phone is the best for this price. LG fuked up with the software.

Simple decision bro ...
If you use it mainly for chatting and reading etc - DELL XCD35
If you use it for playing games - O1
Bottom line is since they use the same chip but XCD35 has a higher resolution, the XCD35 would have to work that much harder to render the same image ... So once you get into big games, this will be a downside ...
However, if you use it ONLY for casual games (like paper toss and other timepass games) and use it for chatting and reading stuff, the higher res screen ( and much higher DPI) will make the text more pleasing to read ...

doesn't lag on my mine @ stock speed. which rom?
BTW, heres my view:
things going against XCD35 = slow processor (can be OC'd), less ram (unlocking fails most of the time), bad battery life, no warranty (if getting from Orange).
things working for O1: 100-120Mhz OC is descent & doesn't affect battery life but increase in performance is noticeable, good battery life, cheap but comes with good, balanced specs (but wish it had a camera flash). & for those who don't mind to install custom roms, Gingerbread is cooked & ready to serve (ignore those flies please).

http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3623&idPhone2=3516 solves it all
1.xcd 35 screen 480X 800 lg 320X480
2.xcd ram lower than p500
3.huge support for lg p500 with gb update on its way and great custom rom flooding the thread while xcd 35 has less option at this point of time.
I woulld say go for xcd 35 and wait for updates and I am not sure on the ram part as many says that xcd has 512 ram .Just chk it out in store
Blade is excellent, I have one.
It's quick, CM support is great and it's cheap.
It has 512MB RAM.
They're both pretty similar design wise and specs. ZTE has official support for CM like what above people said and a bigger screen. I would go ZTE as well.
err..
this has been discussed too many times
both have the same cpu and gpu
so XCD's gpu would be forced to render at high resolution
which will not give good result..

True, but TBH it copes fine with games such as Fruit Ninja.
The other advantage is that you can play the Gameloft games such as Sandstorm at a decent level since the screen is HDPI - this also means more access to apps normally reserved for much higher end (and more expensive) phones.
The build quality is decent as well, battery life usually lasts me a day with fairly heavy use e.g. three E-Mail accounts with Push, a few minutes gaming, texts, browsing, news apps etc.

exactly, best price/performance ratio I have ever seen in smartphone area, but still, it isnt flagship, never was intended to be, never will be. If you want good phone for good price, go for it, I can only recomend. If you want really high-end phone, or just bigger screen, there are other options, but not DX.
if you have a low budget then buy this phone... its not that big and super fast for games and others...
if you can afford a more expensive phone then buy something better
but just to know that devs started working a lot on this phone and it will become a lot faster

not much costlier
I would say go for Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini . It's got 1GB RAM , more internal storage and a better graphic chipset .
It's just a little more expensive .
One of my friends has it and it just feels alot more polished and smooth . The extra-RAM are no big deal though . I can play NOVA 3 on my DX and still have about 100mb+ free RAM , but on S3M it lags less . I guess the graphic chipset helps alot .

Nope do some tests before you say that. In windows when the ram is full or already used or the program needs more the program crashes then you have to close/exit it manually. In android the system closes apps automatically to free up more ram for the app that you are currently using. More free ram= less lag. Ever wonder why there are so many scripts for ram/memory managment if free ram is useless. Anyway no use convincing you. Hehe just sharing what i understand. Cheers

desire x is a good device dont bother looking for galaxy s3 mini its not released nor will it release in india. The nexus 4 if released at the US price point is an excellent buy else if from what i have heard @500$ seems kindof pricey.
Look at LAVA XOLO Q800,Micromax Canvas HD, Spice Titanium s1 ,and all the other local brands if you aren't so hung up about custom roms(I for one am).
If you are willing to wait for say a month or so there is Xperia L(Available for preorder) ,Optimus L9 And ofcourse there is Galaxy Grand.
EDIT: #zen-mode-ON
the desire X is the true choice of Needs and Wants it is actually everything that you need(yes gaming is also very good eg Dead Trigger). But then what exactly you want a 10 inch screen 16 core processor 1TB ram the demands are endless so you have gotta make a choice a balance between needs and wants.

In android the system closes apps automatically to free up more ram for the app that you are currently using. More free ram= less lag. Ever wonder why there are so many scripts for ram/memory managment if free ram is useless. Anyway no use convincing you. Hehe just sharing what i understand. Cheers

I am not saying that every last piece of ram is used by cache, after phone reboot, you have plenty of free ram, until you start acctualy use apps and fill cache a bit, but linux is working with ram not unlike windows, you said that yourself. I never said memory management is useless, ofc it is usefull, a lot, my point was that claiming "I can play NOVA 3 on my DX and still have about 100mb+ free RAM" has same value as "I had pancakes yesterday" ... I could have, while playing nova 3 much more free ram if I am after phone reboot (and plenty of other ways), I can have less free ram if I used plenty of apps before, it still wont change quality of gameplay, smoothness or anything (unless you really try to make it laggy with anything you have got, which is possible ofc).
quick edit: I am multitasker, I have never met any lag apart from starting apps and other "regular ones" android is handling this pretty good

ok got your point.i have a different experience so maybe we have different opinions. no point in debating. cheers
to the ts. i really dont like the cpu and gpu combo in the dx.. gpu not that good.. if it had a better gpu maybe i would buy this. go find a device with a good gpu from mid to high. this is just low end gpu. adreno 203 < sgx 531 based on my experience and benchmarks. so better find a cellphone with a good gpu that how i choose a new phone though.

I didn't mean that having more free RAM is a bonus , I just wanted to point out that RAM is not something to take into consideration when gaming . Speciffically , that it's got more than enough for any high-end game . Having enough or more than enough are both better than NOT having enough at all .
Indeed I am a lot more familiar with Windows' way of dealing with RAM , however I've seen how Linux works as well , and even though you are right in saying that using more RAM grants you better multitasking , the way Android handles the RAM on the DX is far from perfect . From my experience , Samsung devices manage RAM A LOT better than any other brand I've tried so far (at least on low / middle end devices) . HTC doesn't do a bad job , but it's not to be praised either , at least not on the DX . Then again , look at an LG's RAM management and you'll most likely start crying xD !

[Q] Thiking of getting an Xperia Sola for cheap. Worth it?

Ok so, as the title implies I'm thinking of getting an Xperia Sola on the cheapside (135€) almost brand new. However I do have a few questions:
1. Would you say the phone is worth the price?
2. Do you think it is a good phone?
3. I mostly use my phone for multitasking and gaming sometimes, so does it fit the bill? The 512RAM thing scares me, my Galaxy W said it had 512MB but it had like, 378MB.
4. How is custom rom development for the phone?
Cheers and thanks in advance
1. It's definitely worth its price, even when there is few cons.
2. More Yes than No, It has interesting design, a technology wich is available only for this phone only, called floating touch needs to be improved tho, but It's quite usable in browser. Built quality is not the best, could be better... after a while u will notice some squeaks and other noises it is fixable.
3. That's because there is usable RAM and non usable, can t really explain where the unusable goes, It has to function somewhere else in phone...available RAM is 368. It's enough if u stick with GB android version on ICS takes allmost 90% when no apps are working. Don t recommend to buy one if u are willing to update it to ICS... it would be a huge disaster!
4. I have seen some of the costum versions, for gaming as well, haven't tried yet, i am sticking with the stock one, for battery saving.

You can update to ics, its working flawlessly and even better im on jellybean for last month without hiccups. Nice phone good price...overall im satisfied. Dont listen about ics bugs, use custom kernel for better battery, performance is awesome. The mussing ram is allocated to gpu, mali eats quite a lot of ram.

I gave this brick to my wife, i dont want to hear about this phone anymore - even sony left this phone.
Had HTC Desire X for a while which had arround 300 mb free RAM most of the time and a very good battery life. Now SGS3 and am very very happy.
not worth.
choose phone with 1gb>> ram for multitasking
