Editing messaging app - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I was wondering what I would need to do to edit the way my Messaging application looks. For instance, what files ill need to pull. Just don't like the way my texts are displayed at the moment.
Thanks

[Q] Handcent blacklist question

So I'm trying to figure out the point to the blacklist feature in Handcent. I know it hides all the texts that are on the list, but they are still accessible via the stock messaging app no problem. Is there a way to stop the stock app from showing particular messages, or disable the stock app all together? Just seems like a pointless feature to have if it is bypassed so easily.
remove the stock app from your phone, with root explorer

I wouldn't advise that. Isn't the stock MMS app tied into the framework? I believe this would kill your ability to send and receive messages.
I think the blacklist is to block who ever u want from texting you.

This is pretty much what it does .. I have done it.

I always wondered if that was possible without breaking something....
With launcher pro you can hide it in the hidden apps list..or on adw just put it on your homescreen then.hold it then edit then change the name and change the icon then take off notifications

Launcher Pro allows you to hide applications and in the stock messaging app go to settings and disable navigation notifications. Problem solved.
Edit: I missed the post above mine.

if u are looking just to hide dome text so your partner wont find out....you need to download sms guard on the market ,install and go to settings and put a password do no one wont getting......that works perfectly....now the only problem is if the sent u a multimedia message it wont block ....hope it hepls
I've tried the blacklist from handcent myself but really didn't like it nor worked for me that well. Now I'm using blaclkist app from the market. Much better than the blacklist that comes in handcent.

Hate stock messaging app....?

Hey,
The stock messaging app sucks on this, why does it show messages so wierdly? Like all my messages are at the bottom while all the recieved message are at the top?
It should be one after the other, as in CM7 messaging app that I used on my previous phone.
Someone know how to fix this? or get better messaging app like the cm7?
Check the timestamp of the messages! It might be possible that the app thinks that the messages you've been sent are from the past due to a mis-matching time zone/time setting!
I use go sms pro.
Free from market.

Go to time and date settings untick automatic update then choose your timezone ie: +8 or -4. That will fix your problem.

[Q] Chomp SMS

Can I replace my default SMS with Chomp?
I already tried replacing Mms.apk but only got FC..
Need help..
Don't delete the original apk. You need it to receive messages.
No, some apps can replace it. Go and a couple of others can. Im guessing chomp hassent the nessisary protocals to work without it.

Yes.
Just don't use the stock messaging app.
Or you can download GO SMS Pro, then freeze Mms.apk, sincr GO SMS is capable of handling sending and receiving messages without Mms.apk.

Check the "let go sms handle....." too.
But strictly speaking there is not a need to delete or freeze the original app.

Idk about the handcent app since I rarely use 3rd party SMS apps but I know that in the stock app I can lock them just fine. are you needing to hide them or simply lock them when deleting a whole thread (which to keep your phone running smoothly should be done every 100 or so to keep it from locking up internal space) or what? I'll download the app and see what you mean if you wanna walk me through whatever you're trying to do. i can give you my gtalk if you want my help? I'm sure someone on here might have the same issue as yourself at one point
Sorry for the long reply. I want to lock my messages so anyone can't just go thru them n be in my business. It can be stock or third party. It don't really matter

[Q] Samsung Stock Messaging App

I've used Chomp and Handcent on my prior phones.
Call me crazy, but I actually like the stock messaging app on my S5. I even love the silly background with clouds.
Question - are there other backgrounds available besides the five that come with the app? I've searched but can't find anything...Or do I need to go back to Chomp or Handcent for that?

You can change the background to whatever you want. You just pick images on the far left and you can set any image you have on your phone. As for the bubble styles, unfortunately you can only use what is already on the phone.
Duh - can't believe I missed that!
Thank you!
Yeah, I love it too.
