Creating custom shortcut to notification window - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm trying to figure out how to create a custom shortcut to pull down the notification bar/window. I like to have the thing him hidden but am looking for a quicker way to access it than hitting menu doftkey and selecting notifications. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use ADW EX.
It has swipe gestures that will do what you want. Pretty amazing app. Other launchers may do this, but I can only confirm ADW EX. It's the best launcher, IN MY OPINION. Others may have another fav (mainly b/c they don't like giving a developer $3).

I use LP Pro..so it's not that I don't want to spend the 3 bucks. More like I put my money on a different racehorse.
What I'm asking is definitely possible, theres already a shortcut it's just in the menu. I just can't figure out how to pull it out and use it.
Edit: I was able to bind tje home button to opening the notification bar...it's not how I wanted to do it but it works. Would still like to see if anyone knows how to create a shortcut for it.

I use LP too. I have one of my swipe gestures on my dock icons set to open notifications.

How to remove extra maps links in app drawer

I was curious if anyone knew if there was a way to remove those links in the app drawer to those maps functions which include latitude, navigation, and places. I don't want to get rid of these features, I just want to get rid if the links to them that are in the app drawer.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you're using LauncherPro, you can elect to hide apps from the drawer. Go to preferences>General Settings>Hidden Apps - from there you can select which ones you want hidden.
Unfortunately I'm using touch wiz...i guess I'm one of the few that don't mind it.it's a modded version from the sXe rom, but still it doesn't have a hide function as fast as I know

So you're the one using touchwiz...I heard there was someone out there. haha
The only thing I can do to "help" you then is to plug LauncherPro. It's free (I haven't found a need for the paid version yet), and the customizability is second to none. What hooked me was the "swipe gesture action" for the dock icons. Look it up - you may be sold.
AND - back on topic - it'll solve your app hiding issues.
Good luck!

Launcher question

I want a launcher that I can have the option to hide or remove the dock and icons so I can place a widget in that area is there any such option in launcherpro? Or do I have to get something else.

Adw has this option. launcher pro does not.

yes, and ADW Ex has even more customization. definately worth a few dollars
Alright I found the setting
Is there any way to have a shortcut or something that would pull up the app catalog without having the dock?
The only way I could do it was by enabling one icon but that defeats the purpose of me doing this since Im trying not to have any icons on the bottom of the screen where the dock is so I can make my own shortcut with minimalistic text

You should be able to set that as a swype gesture in the adw settings. Or set the home button to open close the app drawer.

Yeah I actually figured out something I was doing wrong in trying to get the look. It wasn't minimalistic text it was actually a dock and with launcher pro i just made some blank icons and set swipe feautures and it came out how I wanted. Thanks

What he said. I'm using a combination of ADW Launcher EX and CircleLauncher
Your main screen will look like this:
The icons you see on the top left and bottom right are CircleLauncher. When i tap them they open up the predefined app selection of my choosing. You have the choice of a circle, horizontal or vertical style.
Another neat thing on the ADW Launcher EX is that you can use the swipe up and down gesture to preform actions. For example swipe down opens my Notifications Bar and swipe up opens my Apps Drawer.
Hope you find what you need.
Here's mine ADW

I like Adw. It's simple clean and fast. Not sure if I will upgrade to the paid version since a lot of reviews are have force close issues. Are you getting any?

Personally i have never had a force close on my 3D. On my 4G I did have a couple force closes but it didn't bother me as much. Try out the free version for a couple days to get the feel of it. If you feel generous afterwards you can "donate" to the owner instead of "buying" it, that's how I looked at it. Good luck!

The same thing can be accomplished with Launcher Pro as well.
+1 for ADW. I hide the notification bar and get rid of the launcher. Here is a link to my setup. I've made some changes lately but you can get the general idea. Swipe down opens the notifications and swipe up opens the app drawer...

Any of you tried wave launcher? I love that... Another great option if you ditch the dock. And you can use it from anywhere from any app
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Yeah, ADW does exactly what you're looking for, here's another image to add to the pile on this thread =p
What my home screen looks like (click for full size):
You can also set an optional 'hidden' dock that comes up on a specified gesture (for example, if I flick upwards I get my appdrawer, phone and ADW settings).
Tried wave launcher. Wasn't feeling it. Settled on circle launcher. Advanced settings go for deep customization.
With auncher pro i could never find out how to hide dock. Anyways to much work if they can't just add a simple setting to hide it. Shame cause I want it for the gmail widget plus glass sense glass theme.
Only bad think about Adw is the app drawer lags when opening and really bad scrolling. Not much of an issue once I have my screens setup. Never need to use it.

[Q] App for quick shortcuts to other windows?

Hi guys was wondering if there is this app out there that can do the following...
You know when you swipe left or right you go to different windows from the home screen. Is there an app or something that wil allow you to swipe up or down from the homescreen to go to the window to the left x2 or to the right x2. I'm basically trying to find a way to get to my other windows in just 1 swipe as opposed to 2. It might not be much but I would much prefer it that faster if possible.
Anyone know of anything that can do this for me?
I use the "pinch and pick" method. (At least that's what I call it.)
Or hit the Home button twice (or just once if you're already on the Home screen).
That's an interesting idea but I would assume it would have to be built into the launcher you're using. Like home screen replacement Apps have swipe up for this and down for that but I haven't seen them have an option for swipe up for page x.

Try an app called Wave Launcher. It's not exactly what you described as what you're looking for but may be another solution, it's a fantastic app! Here's a link for you:

Swipepad is free in the market

Go launcher, set it to show previews on swipe up (you can even make it so it only does that when you swipe up on a specific dock icon, too!)

Swipepad is the shizzle, too! Good find! Swipepad + wave launcher + go launcher = totally covert homescreen! No statusbar, no dockbar, just secret areas to swipe from!

Will that all eat up my battery a lot if I'm running stock everything non-rooted?
I'm really enjoying being non-rooted because surprisingly everything just WORKs. Battery life is great as I can get an entire 12-13 hour day out of it before it goes red.
Also...why Go Launcher? When I use to have it on my old Evo 4g whenever I would press the "home button" it would close Go Launcher and go back to the stock launcher...also...I have to use their own Friend widget (people widget) if you use it right? Or has that changed? When I used Go Launcher before the People widget I use to use from Sense disappears.
I'm completely stock.... Just download Wave Launcher and try it, if you like it then excellent, if you don't then uninstall... It's a free app so you lose nothing trying it. Good luck!

Stock unrooted, too. GO Launcher (like any alternate home app) doesn't allow the use of Sense Widgets but they have an alternative to most of them and the widgets are themeable. Battery usage is no more than usual and if you REALLY wanna squeeze all the juice you can from a charge, check out Juice Defender. And why GO Launcher? It takes the best parts of all the paid launchers (ADW, Launcher Pro, etc), improves on them, adds in even more functionality, offers tons of themes or the ability to create your own, and it's free! I use GO SMS, GO Contacts and GO Dialer, too. The GO Weather is borked though lol dunno why

+1 billion.
Download Nova launcher and then you can put an icon on your homescreen that let's you get into the multitasking menu with one press.
It will work with TW too.

ive read the description of nova launcher but couldnt find anythinga bout multi tasking. can you explain a bit more?
Not only nova you can have it in apex too, in fact you can simply bring the recent apps menu by making a swipe gesture on home screen
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
I'm not sure if it works on the gs3, but I use an amazing app on my transformer prime called gesture control.
It basically allows you to define actions by using gestures.
You can define two, three, and four finger gestures.
It really is great. Needs root though.
So you can define a gesture for bringing up the multitasking menu and it works throughout the whole system anywhere.
You don't have to be on the launcher homescreen .
Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo
tried apex launcher but couldnt get it to work when im inside an app. ill try gesture control. anyone else have any suggestion for me
anyone can give me suggestion on a great gesture app that can open the recent app from anywhere?
Wave launcher is also cool multitasker. Quite different though.
Also looking for this, something like zephyr for IOS that works inside apps. It allows to close an app just sweeping from bottom to top.

i tried the app and it worked great. Can I ask what the risk of enabling usb debugging is? Im kinda paranoid of what it does, also can you suggest to me what good gesture is best to bring up the recent app list?
What does usb debugging do?
I don't understand why you don't just want to hold home? Plus when on this screen if you swype to left or right the preview is binned.
As for killing apps, Android runs on linux, linux manages ram very well and indeed runs better when you don't keep closing things all the time, it caches processes to save you time and battery when you next need them!
I use a app called "multitask shortcut" which is awesome and it only cost .50 dollars. It doesnt work inside apps though. I wish there was something like Zephyr for Android. It was awesome on the iPhone.
