[Q] Vibrant i9000m 3g Connectivity Issue. List of what I have tried so far... - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having a problem connecting to my 3G (HSDPA) with my Vibrant. My phone company is using 850 and 1900 (Bell Mobility). I have been at this problem for days now and am running out of places to look so I thought I would write down a list of what I have tried and see if anyone out there can suggest other things to check/fix. The first problem is that I am not sure when I lost my 3g as I was using WiFi as default in my home while rooting with the SuperOneClick. After rooting I installed the voodoo lagfix with a little bit of trouble so that may be where the problem lies. However, since then this is what I have done....
-Factory reset and wipe cache (didn't fix problem)
-Check APN Settings
APN - pda.bell.ca
Proxy - web.wireless.bell.ca
Port - 80
MMSC - h t t p : / / m m s . b e l l . c a / m m s / w a p e n c (spaced only because I cant post links yet)
MMS Port - 80
MCC 302
MNC 602
APN Type - Internet + mms
All others set to none or blank
-Check Flight Mode (disabled)
-Check Data Network Mode (on long power button press) (Enabled)
-Thought to try other roms, installed Darky's Ressurection 9.2, still no 3G
-Installed seeArms v0.4 with JL2 modem as that was what mine was stock. No 3g
-Entered *#0011* in Dialer to access Service mode

-Under Settings --> About Phone i have the following

Mobile Network Type - HSDPA
Service State - In Service
Roaming - not roaming
Mobile Network State - DISCONNECTED
IMEI - 35328504~.....it matches my product box
IMEI SV - 06
I dont know what other pertainent information would be needed but if your willing to help and need other info I will gladly look it up. Thanks in advance!

I am sure. I live in an urban area and have had no problems with nexus one before the vibrant.
I actually resolved the problem. I went into the bell mobility store and they put in a new sim card and refreshed my data package and everything was fine. No idea why this happened but it's all good now.
Thanks for your interest in helping!

Did you ever have 3g on your vibrant?? If you are not on the tmo network you will not get 3g only edge. Just like you can't use an unlocked iphone on tmo with 3g. Just like any phone really. Except you can use tmo vibrant on ATT with 3g. But can't use the ATT captivate on tmo 3g.

I did have 3g for the first day I had my Vibrant until I started modding it. Like I mentioned though, 3g has been restored after a new SIM card and a refresh to my data package from Bell Mobility.
I will say though, that the 3g service I am getting is by far superior to what I had on my Nexus one with any radio I tried using. I am working in a very remote location in northern Alberta now and still get 3g
Now if only we had a stable and complete version of CM7!

GSM/WCDMA instead of WCDMA/HSDPA after root

before rooting my phone under network mode I used to have the option to select WCDMA/HSDPA but after rooting it that option has changed to GSM/WCDMA, how to I fix this?
Unroot........
Naaaah, i have always had gsm/wcdma option, but phone is working in hsdpa mode according to speedtest.net. So it seems to be only a name difference.
i have the same problom my phone has no 3g or H signel anymore
try to enter the apn settings manually.
in the UK we always had GSM/WCDMA even if the phone was running in HSDPA, and since most of you root onto the generic UK firmware that is your answer.
Gsm/hspa is probably a operator specific branding. But its total nonsense , gsm/wcdma is the correct wording as wcdma is umts and hspa is a software specific upgrade which is not available on all towers in most networks.
But in order to use it at all WCDMA (umts) needs to be enabled

Signal Problem

I have one x10 mini and one motorola flipout. The flipout is able to get HSDPA network but the mini is unable to get it. I tried restarting data transfer and also the phone but no help. Please help me
More info required:
- model of phone (does the phone have the right bands for 3G where you are?)
- service provider
- do you have your APN settings correct?
- is 3G enabled in your network settings?
- are you in a marginal signal area?

How is the GSM/hsupa working overseas?

Hello guys,
From my previous experiments, these multi radio GSM phones just don't work as good as their GSM only variants. What is the situation for photon about this ?

Received a unit yesterday, I had ordered via eBay. Works perfectly on both 3G and HSDPA. No problems with either voice or data.
Since I haven't been able to activate the phone via Sprint:
1. It tries to connect to Sprint each time I boot it. I need to then make changes to network settings so that it can log on to the local GSM networks.
2. Each time I send a text message, it reminds me I might incur international roaming charges.
Rest is super.

How to toggle 2g on HTC Inspire 4g?

Hello, I have a AT&T HTC Inspire 4g.
I don`t live in the States, and my problem with that is the fact that in my country the 3g network runs at 2100, and the phone isn`t supporting it.
I read that my operator runs 2g on 900, and also checked that the phone supports it, but there is no option in the menu to change from 3g/4g to 2g
Can you tell me how and if I can do it
Thank you in advance
SOLVED!
Fist write this in "Phone"
*#*#4636#*#*
Then change->
Phone information > Set preferred network type > to GSM only
Then make new access point names - name: simple, apn: simple

Lumia 920 Rogers Version LTE

Hi,
I wanted to ask others their experience with Lumia 920 (Rogers version) with LTE Service.
I have LTE service with Telus in the area where I live. I get excellent LTE service with my Samsung Galaxy sIII.
The LTE service with the Lumia 920 does not seem as good, Galaxy always seem to have LTE, Lumia reverts back to 4G much of the time.
I have settings set to LTE
Questions:
Is there a better radio that could be flashed for the Lumia 920, Rogers uses Band 4 (AWS 1700) for their LTE the same as Telus?
Is there a setting in the phone is "tune" the radio to work better with Telus LTE service?
Is this something I need to "suck it up" since it is a unlocked phone?
I have a Rogers phone on TELUS. Indicator states 4G but I'm getting lte speeds going by speed tests.
Sent from my RM-820_nam_canada_200 using Board Express
Enable LTE on Telus
I also have the Rogers 920 on Telus... I've always had the 4G indicator when a data connection was established and a 3G indicator when it was idle. When correctly on LTE, the indicator will always be LTE (with or without an active data connection). Even though the speeds were fairly high, I was pretty sure it wasn't LTE but rather HSPA+.
Anyways, I can report that 4G isn't LTE; I'm now always getting LTE when in LTE-enabled zones (it goes back to 3G/4G when outside of the city or in a very low reception area zone). The only trick I found to getting it to work is the following (some steps may not be required but that's what I do and it always worked) following a hard-reset (soft-resets don't need this, LTE always enables itself for me):
Install the "access point" application
Go into the "access point" application in your settings
Add a new APN in "access point" (the fields I didn't specify is because I left them blank or kept the default value)
- Connection name: TELUS LTE (it can be what ever, that's just what I chose)
- Data type: LTE
[Internet APN]
- Access Point Name: sp.telus.com
[MMS APN]
- MMS Access Point Name: sp.telus.com
- Proxy address: 74.49.0.18
- Proxy port: 80
- MMSC address: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
Go into "cellular" in your settings
Switch the "Highest connection speed" value to "3G"
Go back into the "access point" application
Activate the newly created "TELUS LTE" APN
Wait a minute or restart the phone (I think waiting a minute worked for me the last time I tried instead of a restart)
Go back into "celluar"
Switch the "Highest connection speed" value to "LTE"
Wait about a minute and LTE should kick in if you're in a LTE zone
Go back into the "access point" application
Activate the default "TELUS" APN that comes from the SIM card (this will re-enable tethering while supporting LTE)
Those steps appear to be the magic recipe that worked for me following two hard-resets... Like I said, it could be any combination of the above steps and not necessarily all them... Can't guaranty it'll also work for you but it's worth a try.
