MMS not working is it the APN's?? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys...
got my atrix from at&t unlocked it with cell unlock.net using it on rogers found the apn's online but i cant recieve or send mms i am using handcent message app... but it also dosent work with origional messaging app either any help is apprecieated thanks...

try this:
Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
or
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
Server: 172.25.0.107
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302 (should already be filled in)
MNC: either 720 or 72 depending on your SIM card (should already be filled in)
APN Type: mms

Issue on bell
Not sure if this will help but I went from an Iphone and was use to sending pictures from the gallery so when I went to on the atrix same thing went to pictures chose to share and the only option was text message (no mms option) it asked if I wanted to resize and wether I did or not it only sent the text not the photo. The only way I found to send the pic is to chose insert inside the acutual messaging app (havent tried with handcent) yet.
The setting mentioned earlier are more than likely the issue as you would have to set them manualy.
quick question, coming from the iphone using bitesms. with the handcent quickcompose or even with chompsms is there a way to have favorites show up as default in the list upon oppening the quickcompose as they do on bitesms really miss that feature

Call AT&T. Once again another fail by them: they automatically switch your texting plan if it isn't available any more. I had the 200 plan, and they basically switched it without telling me, and they messed it up. I just called them and setup a 1500 plan.

MMS problem with X10

Hi,
On my X10 i can't send MMS although MMS-settings are installed. When i try to send MMS, it keeps sending (It shows that message is being sent), but if i check after 1 hour, it still sending :-/ I tried to install MMS-settings again & after that i sent MMS, it was sent. I tried again to send MMS, same problem again... Again new MMS-settings, can send 1 MMS & have to install MMS-settings again :-/
What is it & how can i fix it?
Dancingfate from Esato has same problem:
Same here... from the day I bought it till today I cannot send nor receive MMS.
I tried auto setting, manual setting, requested OTA from provider, or requested the setting from SE website.
Did master reset, reflashed thru SEUS, update to R1FA016 thru DaVinci, all of them gave me the same result.
The MMS notification is received but the content cannot be downloaded.
All MMS sent items are always pending.
The SIM cards I'm using are no problems with other SE phones.

I had a problem with sending an MMS as well (only sending though). I know that my provider has a limit of 300Kb for sending MMS. Unfortunately, when attaching a photo to the MMS, Android will happily attach the entire photo (all 8Mpixels of it) to the MMS, blowing the limit. Then the MMS refuses to be sent, without giving an indication of the size being the problem.
Downscaling the photo solved this. Afterwards, I received it just fine.
Thank You so much Stomppot for tips, but how can i downscal a photo before sending mms? Sorry i'm n00b :-S
Ok, i just tried to send a pic 248kb (300kb is allowed here also) but still the same, it keep sending mms, but nothing happens I got 3 mms 4 hours ago, still downloading

what u mean remove it? just as a widget or from ur phone completely?
for those who have problems with MMS, just reflash your phone to Rogers 2.1 firmware and reset your MMS configuration and it will work again.
Hope this help
I think this is probably the same answer as the one above but ...
In some of the updates I found the data settings weren't quite correct even though the update had stated the correct carrier info during the setup. I had the same issue as the OP and the mms would just be stalled sending.
i just went on my carrier website and got them to send the settings to my phone and it all worked fine then.

Rogers' old MMS settings don't work with 2.1.
Delete APN settings for both MMS and internet and use these for both:

Password: <not set>

It should work!
As for the other carriers, maybe it's the same problem? Ask your carrier for the latest settings.

[Q] MMS and APN?

Hi guys,
I just got a new Sony Xperia X10 a few days ago and everything works fine. It is an unlocked phone that I am using on the AT&T network right now. However, I cannot receive MMS even though my texting plan supports it. Under mobile networks the "auto internet" function is disabled. I've used the APN settings that everyone has suggested but I still get the message "Currently unable to download. Please try again later."
Any ideas?

Incoming MMS picture size small on unlocked Atrix using it with T-Mobile US

I am using unlocked AT&T Atrix 4G with t-Mobile US. It is all factory software without any changes at all. Not boot loader unlocked.
Under the APN setting, there is an APN called "T-Mobile US". This APN is locked (I believe it is stored on the SIM because I did not input it on the phone when I unlocked it) and cannot be edited. However I can make a new APN entry.
The T-Mobile US APN settings are following
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy:
Port:
Username:
Password:
Server:
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy:
MMS Port:
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type:
..............The problem description................
I can send and receive MMS, however the incoming MMS are very tiny and small around 18-20KB. The out going MMS are fine, the receiver gets pics of about 350KB.
Any idea on what is going on?
Because your phone is not a T-Mobile phone, i.e. not sold by T-Mobile, your MMS messages are automatically resized to a smaller size because the network cannot identify what size you can receive. There is a workaround, as this was discussed previously. I will try to find it.
<edit> Try the following: go to messaging, setting, user agent, custom user agent, nexus one.
<edit 2> nexus one isn't there by default I don't think, so there is a way to add it through custom. (Believe you can add one by selecting custom and entering "NexusOne").
<edit 3> Found the following:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com (with no dash!)
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: none (actually type "none")
Password: **** (four asterisks)
Server: * (one asterisk)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.165.155.050
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Auth Type: None (NOT "Not set", actually pick "None" from the menu)
APN Type: <Not set> (if it says "default, mms, whatever" delete all that and leave it blank)
Maybe something there will help, or at least get you headed in the right direction.
I think the user agent is something that can help.
First thing is that the ATRIX mms app doesn't have a feature that will allow me to change the user agent.
I tried to install CM6 mms.apk and it kind of work. But very unstable. It kept on crashing.
I tried the CM7 mms.apk and didn't work at all.
The CM mms.apk have built in feature to allow changing user agent.
Is there any stable mms.apk I can use with ATRIX?
By the way, on my.T-Mobile.com site, I selected MyTouch 4G as my phone. May be that can have T-Mobile think I have a native T-Mobile phone. Sure hope so.
I am racking my brain trying to think of who it was who had the exact same question. Changing to the nexusone user agent fixed it. I believe you can't change to any phone, because MMS size is set per the capabilities of the phone with T-Mobile.
Read one post where someone set their user agent to iPhone and this fixed it for them.

<edit> Might be possible to just go in there and set a custom user agent to "nexusone".
Not there.... user agent settings are in the aosp app, not in ATRIX app.

I gotcha. Sorry. I'm using GoSMS.
Might be an edit to the mms.apk that is needed.
Yes need a mod to the Text Message app that is built into ATRIX. But I am not a developer so out of luck there.
But definitely a user agent issue. I tried the CM6 mms.apk. it is very unstable but does get mms in larger size.
I'm having this same issue on an unlocked Galaxy Nexus GSM running T-Mobile in the USA. Anyone have any luck figuring it out?

[Q] APN Settings for Unlocked G2 AT&T

It seems I have searched every forum.. on every android site imaginable. I have posted this question and tried everything recomended to me. Here is my problem and I hope someone can help.. I purchased an unlocked T Mobile G2. I am using it on AT&T. I have unlimited talk, text and data plan. My internet works fine. BUT.... When I send/receive MMS messages they are in video format. My wife and I like to take pictures of our kids and send them to each other. I have tried several APN settings that were supposed to work and none of them fixed the problem.. I had a G1 for 2 years and the same settings worked in that phone. Can someone PLEASE send me the correct APN settings to use this phone on AT&T? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated..
try this, it has always worked for me for both way picture messages and i received 1 video message before as well (but never tried sending)
Name: MediaNet
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 8080
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
I dont have a place for MMS Protocol, have APN Protocol as the last entry at the bottom. My APN Protocol is set as IPv4, Im not sure if this is right.. As I stated I went back into my G1 and copied exactly the APN settings from that phone to my new G2 and it still sent all my pictures as videos,, kinda aggravating... I do appreciate your help.. I will let you know if this fixes my problem i have input your info into my phone already.. I just tried to send a normal picture to my wifes phone and it came up in video format just like it did before... If you can think of anything else Im sure open to opinions.. I lost my 3G with this phone and now i cant send pictures.. Kinda thinkin about selling the phone as much as i like it.. If i cannot get it to function anywhere near right it seems kinda like a paperweight.. Thank you for your help
...
This Apn was just what I needed!!! Thanks so much. Got my 4g back..I appreciate. It!! Worked perfectly on my unlocked HTC g2. I had to downgrade for a couple days while my new s4 is in the mail.

There is an app on the maket although I forget what is called that will get the apn for your specific network and it gives a couple of alternative apns to work with as well check the market do a search for apn it should pull something up
on authentication type put it on both pap or chap and on apn type put it on internet + mms then save it

Remove those 3 white-spaces and it gets you through.
Question for OP: don't ST provide those kinds of supports for your device?

If you have the apn correct as follows:
Name: StraightTalk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Save the APN, the remainder of blanks will fill automatically as necessary. If all of this is correct and it still doesn't work then try changing modems. Outside of that maybe it's trouble on the sender's phone. A good wayto test out if it is on your end or their's is to send an MMS to yourself and see if you get it. If you do then the trouble lies with them.
ive found that this works (personally - and i have a thread under the Infuse)
Name: Straight Talk (or whatever you want)
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN Type: internet+mms+supl
save and restart phone
