[Q] Tried Flashing Bionix v 1.3.1, "E: Can't Mount..." ? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried searching and didn't find much help on my issue, if I missed it somewhere I apologize in advance. I am sorta new to all this but I'm starting to pick up on it. So here's my issue, hopefully someone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong or need to do to fix...
I downloaded the Bionix v 1.3.1. It's on the sdcard. I go into CWM Recovery, install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard, scroll to bionix, select, and click yes to confirm I want to install. I get this:
-- Installing: SDCARD:bionix-v-1.3.1.zip
Finding update package...
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/
mmcblk0p1)
(Device or resource busy)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:bionix-v-1.3.1.zip
Installation aborted
That's about where I'm lost? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

First, did you go into CWM Recovery and click on "Wipe data/factory reset"? When you are flashing a custom ROM, you would need to do that first, then you select install zip from sdcard (from the phone, not the external sd card), then wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, & finally Fix Permissions under the Advanced menu.
I believe you have rooted the phone with Samsung Galaxy S One Click Root, right? Well there are tutorials somewhere here on XDA that tells you how to flash. Hope this helps!
Also, when installing a custom ROM, you always have to put the zip file inside a folder called DCIM in your phone memory, not the microsd card, so you know where to install the custom roms.

Bionix 1.3.1 does not require you to wipe data, cache or dalvik.
It wipes when you flash it.
You don't put the ROM in DCIM,just the root of internal SD.

Had same problem, flash axura and stay on it for a couple days, then wipe battery stats and flash bionix and it should work

That's what I was thinking about Bionix . I have it on the root of the SD.
I'm going to try Nabeel's method with Axura for now.
Thanks for the help guys, I'll update this if I can get it to work.

BTT
Ok, well I tried flashing Axura instead from CWM, still get the exact same mount errors that I detailed in the first post. How the F do I get past the mount issue?!?! Ugh back to search and more searching I guess...

Ok finally ODIN'd back to 2.1 and that made everything so much smoother. I'm on bionix 1.3.1 now and wow its awesome

[Q] Unable to flash mik_os 6.5.2

I am currently using mik_os 6.5(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354) and Clockwork Mod recovery. I tried to install 6.5.2 on top of it (wiping cache and dalvik cache) but it gets stuck on the lg logo. After going through the first post, I even formatted /system but that didn't help either.
Finally, I flashed 6.5 and it is working fine. Any pointers would be helpful.
1) mounts and storage/ wipe cache
2) mounts and storage/ wipe system
3) wipe cache partition
4) wipe data or factory reset
5) install zip from sd card
And blowww!! You have 6.5.2 flashed ;-)

Boot into clockwork recovery.
go to backup and restore -create a backup of your current rom (Note:If already backup has been done then avoid this step, backup created using amonra or thunderg wont support restoring using clockwork)
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
mount and storage-format system
mount and storage-mount usb storage (make sure usb debugging is enabled)
copy the rom zip file to the root of your sd card
unmount
install zip from sd card-choose the rom zip and install
flashing takes 3-5 min
reboot!
just remeber to backup all ur app using titanium and restore after a fresh install and whnever u update no need to wipe anything just flash over the old version until unless mention by the dev
I didn't want to do a factory reset, however; I still went for it after doing a nandroid backup.
I followed all the steps mentioned by sshbz, but it still got stuck at the boot logo (the one with website address written).
Finally, thanks to the Nandroid backup, I reverted back to 6.5 without having to go through titanium restore.
For 6.5.2, the rom link is given in post 1 and mik_os had also posted a fix for clockword mod users.
I have tried the below
1. Install only the rom
2. Install rom and then the fix
Neither worked. I think I would have to wait for the next update now unless someone can make this work for me.

CWM Recovery dalvik cache wiping problem

Whenever I'm in cwm and I try to wipe my dalvik cache it gives me an error that says: E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext] but it still let's me wipe the dalvik cache and even says it wiped. Is it wiping? What can I do to get rid of that error?
What version of CWM, what ROM?
Odds are your phones fine.
DL the new version of CWM (3.XX) from another link you find and re flash the new download with Odin, then Try it.
Oh yeah, duh. Sorry.
Rom: Kaosinate v7
CWM Recovery: 3.0.2.8x
I haven't flashed a kernal.
Do you have an sd-ext? Like apps 2 sd? If you don't then you don't need to worry. It's searching for dalvik on your sd card if you have apps2sd and moved it.
Your fine
adb push nexusS.apk /system/bacon
I have no apps2sd or anything like that..
Oh haha I read that wrong at first. Awesome. Thanks everyone. =]

[Q] Install CM7 ROM problem

Noob question.
Installing CM7 with CWM and ROM Manager, I'm getting can't mount /emmc
using internal SD with "the hard method", rooted with SOC
do i have to partition the SD card?
Dont flash CWM with ROM manager...use Odin to flash CWM kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823). Also, dont use internal SD option, just go to install from SD in CWM and find the file...I had issues installing CM7 so let me know how it goes for you.
What the reply said. I initially had troubles trying to install from my SD card, so I just used root on my internal SD card. I flashed CM7 from CWM rather than using ROMManager, and ended up having my phone hang at boot. After some research, I discovered there's a glitch where the flash doesn't work correctly, so you actually have to flash CM7, and then flash it again right afterwards. Works like a charm for me now.
Hope this helps!
thanks for the replies both of you!
i did get CWM flashed ok...v5.0.2.3
when i'm in CWM, i disable signature checking then install from zip from internal sdcard and i get
E:Can't mount /emmc/

I think internal and external SD card are switched somewhere in CWM.
thanks! how do i fix that?
ok, yes Entropy you were right, the internal sdcard gives the /emmc error, the zip from sdcard works, and cm-galaxys2-full-75.zip starts installing then give the following
asset failed: getprop....
E:Error in /sdcard/cm_galaxys2_full-75.zip
(Status 7)
i also tried toggle script asserts
i figured it out, it was the galaxys2 nightlies from rommanager, not the galaxys2att, trying that now...
I don't think the euro GS2 nightlies work with ATT GS2, I could be mistaken though.

Thanks dan40hands,
I got it working with the ROM posted in Dev...
Doesn't look like the euro nightlies work...
Andrew
Use this one http://www.multiupload.com/73J3G4C1CV
1. Boot into CWM
2. Nandroid back-up
3. Wipe data & cache
4. Choose install zip from SD card
5. Select the file downloaded above and install
6. Repeat step 4 & 5
7. Reboot and Enjoy
Why would you have to do 4 and 5 twice. Ie install it twice?

Oddity with Cyanogenmod in regard to coming from Samsung-derived ROMs, I think involving filesystem formatting. It was the same on the Infuse. Once you're on CM7, you'll only have to do updates once.

[Q] Wipe Dalvik Cache Problem???

Hello, I am using ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
when I wipe my Dalvik Cache i get:
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext] <--- This part concerns me...
Dalvik Cache wiped
Reflash recovery?
what should I do?
[edit]
*On that Note I was thinking, there are tons of random folders that have accumulated and aren't deleted when I flash new roms. is there a particular method to completely wipe everything on my phone? both internal and sd?
Anybody at all know what's going on?
This is just a guess but it probably has something to do with how CWM reads the storage partitions (sdcard and emmc) and how it is presented in the Atrix as sdcard and sdcard-ext. Which Rom are you using?
As far as deleting everything, you can go to [Settings - Storage] and you should see options to format internal and external storage, which will delete everything on the storage partitions and then you use CWM to wipe cache/dalvik cache/userdata(reset).

[Q] Status 7 when installing different ROM

I don't know if anyone asked about this matter but I'm having this problem as of today. I'm on epinter's CM10 and I tried ATRICS by thehope using CWM. I didn't like the rom so I restored back to epinter's CM10. I tried to install CM7 or any GB and it went okay but when reboot my rom is still in CM10. I also flashed MIUI but failed to flash and said assert failed...status 7. I don't know what to do anymore...I tried flashing .sdf files but in no luck. Can someone help me please.
Copy CM7 zip in internal memory.
WIPE / FACTORY RESET
FORMAT /system
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Pull Out the SdCard form Slot Sdcard and then flash with CWM.
Do you try?

strange
by internal sdcard I mean 10Gb for data, not to the memory of the root system.

I also try the fix permission and it went smoothly.
Yes, I'm telling the truth, I'm using CWM recovery 5.0.2.0? I think that's the latest for atrix 4g.

In other threads see that the status 7 problem is due to the security of the boot.img

Did you try to root the phone again?
