How come all design of the background for the notification disappeared between froyo and gingerbread?

You can still use Theme Chooser (built into CM7 ROMs) or Metamorph for that kind of thing, I think.

right off the bat I chose Cyanbread from theme chooser. It would be cool if the notification bar had the carbon fiber look to follow suit.

I guess it just depends on how much the theme is designed to change. I think there are some themes in the Eris Theme section which change the notifications look.

Dell Official Froyo Transparent notification bar

Greetings again,
I have ported my transparent theme for Dj Steve's Froyo to the Dell Official Froyo build 12821. Flash with clockwork either FroyoOfficialTransparent.zip or FroyoOfficialTransparenticons.zip. FroyoOfficialTransparent.zip is untouched icons with just the transparency added. Icons has transparency and Dj Steve's 1.4.6 Froyo icons. On a side note, Official Froyo wipes out clockwork recovery on reboot. So immediately flash the theme after flashing recovery. Please give thanks if you enjoy the theme!

bugs
3rd party launchers will show a black bar on regular wallpaper
This is a bug with the launchers
To get around use Dell Launcher, use a Live wallpaper or turn off notification bar in the 3rd party launcher settings
Thanks again quikt, sadly I'm using Launcher Pro and is seems that the wallpaper starts a little further down so there's a black area under the transparent notification bar Looks awesome when the phone is locked/clock docked!

All I hope is either we get real gingerbread rom or someone make a gingerbread theme. I love the black status bar, I do not like moto's blur status bar haha.

Does this work with 2.2.6? This theme looks real good
Wow. That does look good!!
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Ok I just flashed this. And overall it looked really good. But the dealbreaker for me was that the teal blue stripe was in the notification bar. It did not match the rest of the blues in the theme. That bar was the reason I used the black froyo theme. Im not trying to be insulting... Just my 2 cents.
cant download theemed swipe

Agreed man I couldn't have said it better! Seems like blue and green themes are everywhere. I personally like black froyo sex panther and minimal matte by jface on trigger 1.5.
This theme is great.

What's the difference between a CM7 Theme and a launcher-specific theme?

I'm new to CM7, and I'm looking to try out some themes. One thing that I'm confused about is which category of theme I need and what the differences are.
So, I'm looking to change some of the base colors of the UI, such as that of the dialer, overscroll glows, default colors of sliders, etc...
I'm also running LauncherPro on top of CM7 (on an Atrix, if it matters).
Should I be looking at a CM7 theme or a LauncherPro theme? And what's the difference?

CM7 themes will change the UI of the phone itself... status bar, noticications backgrounds, buttons, etc... LP themes will change only things in launcher pro like widgets colors/backgrounds, icons on the launcher, etc.

Ah, now I understand. Thanks!
Using matching themes for both, i.e. ICS for both CM7 and LauncherPro, makes the cleanest looking interface.
If you want one of the best themes in my opinion for CM7 Theme Chooser check out Lunar UI. It also has ADW Ex/ Go Launcher and Launcher Pro versions.

Seriously one of the best out there.
I was also confused between these two types of themes. Thanks for clearing that up!

Notifcation bar and drawer doesn't get themed

I have a htc Legend with cm7 and the included ADW.Launcher
When I apply a theme, the notification bar doesn't get themed. It wasn't always like this.
I'm guessing this is maybe some sort of permissions issue. Can anyone help?
regards,

Does it even happen with themes who state that the notification bar is themed?
If u apply a theme do u get a message with tells u that not all theme props could be used on ur phone?

Damn.. please excuse my comprehension failure. No, in fact the themes specifically stated that they did not change the notification area. For other dummies like me:
It turns out that what I remembered was installing a CM7 theme through the bundled Theme Chooser app. And not through ADW's own theme settings.
