Stupid Question... Arrange apps in folders? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a stupid and probably easy question. Is there any way to arrange to the apps, in the folders I created, alphabetically? Call it my obsessive compulsiveness, but I hate my apps being all jumbled up randomly due to me taking them out, putting them back in, etc. Thanks for you help and suggestions.

Yea I always wanted tto do that too but I'm not sure; check tthe all store and see if you can find an app that will do that.

Just choose the apps you want out of the app drawer one by one by long pressing it onto the homescreen that way they are in alphabetical order. Of course, that probably wouldn't help down the road when you want to add another app to the folder but that's the best solution I can come up with

Fairly sure "Folder Organiser" does that.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you have rooted your phone, you can do it with Titanium Backup. Just be extremely careful what you delete. I believe there is a list of safe things to delete floating around on the Cyanogen mod forum. Shouldn't be hard to find with inspector Google.
Bloatware would be anything that is not a stock android apk. Be careful not to delete anything that has to do with google or you will be sorry. I forgot the url but there is a master list of all the apks you can delete. Just google "android apk stock list"
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Its probably best to just move the apks into a separate folder on your sd card rather than deleting them. The that way if you mess up you can just move it back into the correct directory. Or if you change your mind.

to the OP, I gave instructions in the sticky if you want something to reference. I agree with ^, I used Root Explorer to copy all of the files and then pasted them in a folder on my SD card. Then went back to system apps and deleted them, rebooted, good to go. I also gave a list of everything that could be deleted.

Hey guys Im sorry if this is not supposed to be here, But I really need some advice.
I just recently bought a SGS2 in Canada with Bell Mobility and I was able to root my phone so that I could unlocked it. However Since I did this every time I turn on my phone I get a Yellow Triangle with and exclamation mark. and also this mark is on the top left corner of my home screen but very tiny. Now the phone works like a charm nothing is wrong, but I want to know if there is some way I can remove that from my power up screen and from the home screen?
And my last questions would be, Now that I have unlocked my phone can I unroot it? or will this locked my phone again?
Thanks .

+1 Op this is probably the best way to do it. Plus if you ever need to put the apks back, all you got to do is move them back, wipe dex and cache and reboot.
One thing that I usually do is use TBPro to freeze it first and see if there are any adverse effects. Did you know that gTalk works with the market? If you delete gTalk, you may see some wierdness with the market. If you just froze it, then you can thaw it out and move on.
My question is can we delete the odex files singly or do they have to be deleted in pairs with the apk?

XDA App not working on Nook

I spent some time looking through forums, if I missed the answer to my question you can throw me in the fire.
Running nightlie #95 and dal oc [email protected] 1200 mhz. 7.03 stable all the way up to this nightlie I haven't been able to run the XDA on the nook. It loads up and I can make a few selections than it fc's.
Is this because I changed my build.prop for netflix? Any ideas?

NOT TRUE!
The XDA app (free version) looks for an IMEI number which the Nook does not have. DizzyDen has put together an app to patch your framework.jar file to give your Nook a fake IMEI based off your Serial number so apps like the XDA app, Swype, HBO GO, and the Xfinity app which look for IMEI numbers will work.
Is using Tapatalk just the easier idea?
Guys i hate to break it to all of you but the XDA APP has work on cm7 since day 1. No mods no tapatalk pro no nothing. install it from the market and run what ya brung. i have never had a problem with it once.
EDIT: This is without any hacking of the IMEI at all.
I will have to try out the imei file. Sick of seeing "process com.quoord.tapatalkxda.activity"
Thanks for the ideas

This is true on phones (which have an IMEI) not on the Nook...

In my experience the XDA never worked right. On both NookieFroyo and on CM7 I could use it to browse but once I tried to login it would force close. Works great on my Eris though!
I wonder what is the advantage of the app is anyway? I just use Opera and go to the website. I'm doing it right now.
again i beg to differ I have never once had an issue with the XDA app from the day i got my nook. Never hacked anything. It has always worked perfectly every single time. Not to say other people my not have issues, but both my Nook and My Wife's nook has never had an issue.
edit: Question or clarification perhaps. Are you guys getting errors just trying to load the app or when making a reply?
The error it's typically upon logging in.

When you say it worked from day one, which version of the app and CM7 are you referring to? And what are you on now?
I have a recent SD install CM7/n87 and a fresh download of the XDA free app, and it FCs everytime when you try to do anything relating to log in. Can you confirm what you're running, may have done special to get it to work?

fuul, what you describe is exactly the problem I am having
I owe this thread an apology. I had never actually tried to login on the XDA app. I just browsed forums.
Note However: Now that i have logged into the app. I can still browse fine, the only time i'm getting a FC is when i try to reply to a thread.
Again i apologize for not testing further before spouting off at the mouth. Yes there is in fact a problem, i just don't experience "as bad" of a problem as some of the rest of you.
I gotta say that its kind of rediculous this app has problems running on the nook correctly since xda seems to be the center of Nook Color hacking universe.
Then again the app is pointless when I can just use my browser. In fact I'm now getting rid of any and all apps that can be replaced with my browser. What's the point?
just get the xda premium app, that does not require an imei number or do the framework hack.

Anytime I can use an app made for a particular forum I use that over the browser anyday. Having multiple bookmarks saved for each forum thread and for each forum starts to clutter up the rest of my non forum bookmarks. An app like XDA lets you save favorites within the app itself, therefor freeing up adding 20 some odd extra bookmarks of threads I like to keep up on.
The site provides that same functionality. You can subscribe to threads eliminating the need to fill your browser with extra bookmarks.
When I open my browser and click on my xda bookmark I'm automatically signed in and ready to pickup on all the threads I have participated in or have interest in. I just don't see the need for a xda app. There has to be a reason for the app. There must be something it does for the user the website will not. WHY!?!?!?!? LOL

Lower bandwidth for one? Noticed that with the stock browser and dolphin HD, there are times when browsing the XDA site directly it has issues rendering certain pages. Could be luck of the draw and a misbehaving ad banner for all I know, or a bad internet connection from my side, no idea. But overall the XDA app feels like it's lower bandwidth.
Since I haven't been able to get the logged in version of the free XDA app to work, I couldn't tell you beyond just this if it's worthwhile.

[Q] Need help organizing my apps

OK, so I'm a noob with the Thunderbolt and I'm sure this is an easy question. But, I'm lost:
Is there a way to take the menu of "all apps" and place them inot folders, so they're sorted into "communications" folder, "games" folder, "utilities" folder, etc. There are many file managers that claim to do this, but they don't show their results under the HTC Sense "all apps" uberfolder.
I've seen a few topics related to this, but not for the Thunderbolt, and none recent. I'll try them. Meanwhile, if you've solved this problem for the Thunderbolt, please help me. TIA!

Kind of like the iPhone ? Well your best bet will be using go launcher , you can organize them the way and it works good on TB
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Yeah I'm using ADW Launcher and you could separate them into Catalogs and hide the "All Apps" in the App drawer.
Yea, it's a function of the launcher as mentioned. If you're willing to try another launcher you'd be able to do it. For instance, I have mine set up in different "catalogs" as mentioned by HeCareth so that I can swipe left or right to get to different drawers of Tools, Media, etc. (ADW EX for me btw).
or just make folders on home screens. thats another alternative.
Not exactly what you wanted....
I know you specifically stated you wanted folders in the app drawer itself, but I've recently fallen in love with Auto App Organizer. That's a link to the ad-supported version but if you also become infatuated the developer has a donate version as well: https://market.android.com/details?id=zts.ticket.autoapporganizer&feature=more_from_developer

I think according to his description he wanted to organize the app drawer which is why people recommended other launchers. But yes, you can do most of what apps organizer does by making folders on the homescreen as bthomp said and fill them with apps. Not sure why an extra app would be desired for this when it's included by default but maybe it's somehow prettier or something or has some added features.
Thanks, guys. Got what I needed from you and decided to place a single folder on the home screen, and place my most often used apps in there. It'll work for the time being, until I research all your outions and pick one that's more permanent from your helpful list.
I use SiMi...love it and its free

[App] Quick-Notes for the S Pen

Hey, everyone. This is Obasi42, creator of Obasi Apps and Quick-Notes for the S Pen. Please don't take this thread as an advertisement for my application. I am simply desperate for your help right now.
As you may know, there is a contest going on right now for the best S Pen applications. I understand that my application isn't nearly good enough to win, but I do want to have a fighting chance out there. So, to anyone who already uses my app, or anyone who is curious to find out more, or anyone who just wants to help: can you please tell me what features you would like implemented in this application?
Here's a link to it in the market (it's free!):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.obasiapps.productivity.quicknotes
Bonus question: I'm also creating a gaming app, so what games would you like created for the S Pen?
The competition ends Tuesday, so, you can see why I'm in a hurry.
Thanks!
I tried it out. It's a good, basic memo app. Here are my criticisms-
I would much prefer this show up as an app. I like to have my search button go directly to vlingo.
It's a bit too basic. The s-pen memo app that comes with the phone does the same thing except you have a lot more color choices.
I'd really like to be able to embed pics and maybe voice notes.
Your app is definitely on to a good start. Good luck with the competition!

Why can't I run your app on my Note? I have it installed but its icon is not with the other apps. When I go into settings, it shows that it is installed, but there is no way for me to launch it.
Weird.

Here's my take on the search button long press to launch. Some ppl have reassigned the search button. That may affect the operation without an app drawer icon.
Note...where BIGGER is better!
Play store says the app is not compatible with my Note and Captivate. Wth.
Running stock ICS btw.

I'm not sure that this particular method would work if you keep those names, but who knows, there may be a workaround. I actually keep the files with descriptive names in dropbox, but when I move the ones I want to use over to the SD card, I rename them 1 through whatever. That way, I keep the names for my purposes, but they behave when they're on my phone.
Definitely worth the effort to learn how to use Tasker, it's really a revolutionary app. You can eliminate a LOT of standalone apps that just do specific tasks like this using Tasker, and make your phone behave in ways that are positively magical.
