[Q] Cannot connect TP2 using USB on Android - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android General

Hi there,
I have just started using the FRX06 bundle on my HTC touch pro2, but am not able to connect to Windows Vista using USB. The phone is found as a disk drive (but I am unable to open it, it asks me to place a replecable disk), on the phone the USB sign is visible and it gives me the oppurtunity to enable USB connections (when sliding the topicons downwards over the screen. But when I hit the USB enable button, it just keeps thinking about it and not connecting whatsoever. In device manager it also says Android phone with the ADB interface installed, no exclamation marks anywhere, but still no luck. Anybody an idea what could be going wrong? There is nothing wrong when connecting with windows mobile, so hardware should be ok..
Thanks, Wouter

USB connection does NOT WORK, at this moment...

You can use DroidExplorer.
Tilt 2 by Tapatalk

Yes, adb is the only way to use USB at the moment.
Please read the FAQ.

Please read the FAQ. USB mass storage is known not to work in any configuration using loopback images (e.g. system.ext2/data.img)
It sort of works (will mount to the computer, but you can't remount the SD within Android) if you partition the SD card with some native ext2 partitions. (system on partition 3, data on partition 4)

If you are on Windows: Samsung drivers installed?
Did you try different USB port?
Is USB debugging enabled? Settings->Applications->Development
What are the USB settings on the phone? Settings->Applications->USB settings
Mass storage mode doesn't work for me on Win 7 x64 I just use the media player setting and it works the same way as mass storage should.
It works for me just fine. One time it did do the flickering USB icon thing, but that turned out to be because the cable that I was using was going bad. It sounds like this may be what's going on in your case?
I clipped this from a post I made a few months ago...

For those of you having a problem with Windows 7 recognizing your Vibrant ... here is how I fixed it on my system.
*Note: You do not need to load any special USB drivers for your phone to be recognized in Mass Storage mode in Windows 7.
*Warning: You follow these instructions at your own risk ... no screaming at me if you try it and something gets screwed up!
1) Navigate your way into the Device Manager / Universal Serial Bus Controller
2) Uninstall the device(s) "USB Root Hub" (My system had 2 listed)
3) You will lose mouse and keyboard control (because you just removed the USB Hubs)
4) Reset your PC and allow Windows to boot normally.
5) Go back to the device manager and wait for all of the "!" marks to go away as windows re-installs the USB Hubs and reinitializes all of your devices.
6) Make sure your Vibrant is in mass storage mode and has USB debugging OFF
7) Plug in your Vibrant via the USB cable and be amazed as windows recognizes your device and assigns the drive letters. After you select the mount option on your phone you will have normal access via windows explorer.
Hope this helps some of you out there !!!

So frustrating.....whats wrong with this?

[Q] OK, I have a real mess - Please Help!

I did an NVflash after struggling to load VEGaN 7 for a couple days figuring it was the partition issue that I have read about. Flash went off without a hitch - or so I thought.
I went to flash VEGaN 7 again, but my computer would not recognize connection via USB. Attempted to login to clockwork mod but instead I get message - "booting recovery image".
Thinking a factory reset might somehow free up my USB connection I did a factory reset - now I'm stuck in a bootloop.
So, to review--
I can't connect to PC via USB, Access CWM, or get past the bootloop.
BTW - I noticed while looking for options to connect to USB that it appeared my Internal and external SD cards switched locations after the NV flash. External, although not accessible was 12.9 gig and my internal showed slightly less than 1 gig.
Anyway, is there any hope for my G tab - I have never been so frustrated over such a simple process in my entire life.
sorry looked for a way to move this post to the correct location...

When you NVFlashed, did you use the version with or without CWM. If you did the version without CWM then that would explain no CWM.
When you say you can't connect to PC are you talking about APX mode (NVflash)?
Go here http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ and follow the instructions for CODE RED step by step. Make sure download everything via the links on the dummies site to make sure you get the right stuff.
Al
No I used the version with CWM, which is why I was suprised to see the "booting recovery image" and then it just continued to boot. I tried both APX via USB and a typical USB connection after loading --where PC gave error "device not identified".

So, just to verify, you hold Vol(-) and press/hold Power, 3 birds appear & screen goes black...that is APX mode. Connect usb cable to PC & what does the PC say?
USB device not recognized -
Still having that problem with USB device not recognized.
However, I have gone to ...for dummies site and reflashed device using the "flash USB driver" to temorarily gain access with USB connection. With NVFlash I Am back to having clockworkMod and working GTab with original software 1.1
Again going to flash rom - but Upon connecting USB i get the message "USB device not recognized" - I have attmpted to mount USB through CWM, but still getting that same error.

If your tab boots, you don't have to use CWM/mount & storage to transfer your rom to the internal sd. Put your external in your PC, copy the rom to it, move back to the tab & copy to your internal. There are also other ways to transfer it but we can talk about that later if you like.
If that works you can still flash your rom & then we can work on getting the usb up.
So, the usb not recognized is when you try to connect after your tab is either all booted up or in CWM mount & storage (and not when you are in APX mode doing NVFlash)?
If you look in device manager what does it show?
Try connecting your tab to a differet PC & see it detects it correctly?
If it works on another PC, you may want to tryto use USBDview http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html to look at the USB dvices that are connected or have been connected to your PC. You can find the gTab devices in the list & then use it's command line options (see instructions included with it) to remove(uninstall) them from the PC. Then you can reconnect to see if it will detect & install the driver correctly.
Can't use external load on pc to transfer rom. No card access.
USB did work in apx mode following instructions in code red. I thought of usin another pc and duplicated the failed results there.
Device manager showed yellow exclamation mark and would'n't install any driver I pointed it to (both computers) Unknown USB device.
Btw I want to thank you for trying to help me out on this. You people who lend your knowledge are commendable.

OK, try this. We are going to use Mobisynapse to wirelessly transfer files to & from your PC to the tab.
Download mobisynapse from my dropbox http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/Mobisynapse.exe & install on your PC.
From your gTab, download Mobisynapse system tool from my dropbox to your tab & install http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/com.mobisystems.office_registered-1.apk.
Start the app on the tab, click More & select Connect to PC to switch it to ON.
Start the Mobisynapse on your PC, it shoud see your tab, once it sees it click connect.
From there, go to the Files icon & you should see an Explorer type screen. PC on the left, tablet on the right. You can transfer files in either direction. Transfer your Rom files or whatever you want.
Let me know when you have downloaded the apps from my dropbox so I can remove them.
Al
I downloaded them and installed, on tab it shows up as officesuite. When I run it "more" is not an option. On pc it simply says (can not connect to android device) under "choose devices". I did turn on USB debugging on tab.

Do I need to create a "roms" folder, and is it supposed to be the zip folder or the files within the zip folder?

It's easier that way, that way you can easily differntiate it from other files/folders. If you create the folder, then put the zipped rom inside the folder.
I turned connect to pc on. Running mobisynapse on pc it sees the tab just fine. I click connect and it pulls up info about tab, BUT when I go to files tab --- right side of screen is greyed out. It won't transfer files.

Third icon from the left...looks like a little file cabinet.
lol, yeah 3rd from left...
It seems to connect just fine, but under the file tab I can only see files from the PC on the left - the right side doesn't show any files and all buttons are greyed out. Again, under the home tab I have access to the GTab just fine. I can see apps, contacts, etc. but under file tab - no files on right side and buttons are not accessable.
So do you see the left (PC side)? Is the right side populated at all & what is in the drop down folder box (should be /sdcard)!

I find the option and select MTP device and working now !
goto setting --> storage --> (on top right corner, select USB computer connection) --> select Media device (MTP)
I have the same problem as well..
I already turn on the MTP but still doesnt work.
Maybe is a driver problem?? Can anyone give me some help??
Have you tried uninstalling the Palm Drivers from your Control Panel => Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Win 7) ?
You wanna remove anything that says PALM or novacom from those lists, then reinstall them. Personally, I use the WebOS QuickInstall to get the drivers installed properly, but that's just me.

tablet not communicating with pc!

Anyone else having a problem with tablet not showing up on computer after ICS. Updated the tablet with Allinone version 4 without any problem but now i need to shift some pictures onto the computer. When i plug in the tablet nothing happens on either the pc or the tablet. Ive used 2 different cables and used 2 different computers but nothing shows up. Debug is on. As far as im aware this has only happened after the ICS rooted update.
I thought that by transferring the pictures over to the sd card would at least sort that out but now i read and tried that external card is being read as "read only". So cant transfer the pictures to sd card and computer not recognising the tablet, now what?
Any advise?

Your computer not recognizing your tablet sounds like an ADB driver problem, so you may have to reinstall the drivers. Condi's AIO Tweaks and Mods submenu items 12 and 11 will solve your problems with sdcard and sdcard2 write permissions and USB Mass Storage support so your computer can access your tablet's memory. Searching the forum about these problems will provide you with additional information on how to deal with them as they have been discussed several times.
Thanks for the reply. Its been so long since i initially setup the tablet. Correct me if I am wrong but when the tablet is connected to the computer the tablet should show up as sony s tablet, is that when the drivers need to be installed. Ive a shocking memory. Im starting to panic as ive documents that I have done in collage. Without the sd card transfering data to extenal in knackered.
So, if I plug the tablet in and NOTHING shows up either on tablet or pc, does that mean that the drivers need to be reinstalled?

Reinstalling the drivers is what other people have had to do to solve the problem you seem to have. For example, read this thread: ADB Issues after ICS update?
Thanks for your time and effort. I have seen this post when i was searchings for answers. Problem is that NOTHING happens when i plug the sony into the computer. Tablet does not acknowledge that debugging is available through the usb even though it is ticked on the tablet. The computer shows nothing either as the tablet has not got into communicating through usb. So to uninstall the drivers will be impossible until the pc recognises the tablet.

The computer is probably not recognizing or listing the tablet because the device drivers are borked. In Microsoft Windows, you can uninstall unlisted (unrecognized) devices by going into Device Manager, selecting "View" from the standard menu, selecting "Show hidden devices" (which should cause unlisted/unrecognized device names to be listed), then right-clicking on the device's name and selecting "Uninstall". After uninstalling the device, select "Action" from the standard menu, then select "Scan for hardware changes" to cause the computer to detect the tablet and prompt you to install the device drivers.

[Q] Remove USB Mode Notification While Connected through ADB

Hello All,
This is my first post so here goes.
I simply need to get rid of the USB Mode notification when Nook Tablet is connected via USB to my Windows 7 PC so I can navigate device.
I have done a ton of research to get ADB working on the Nook and was having tons of problems with Windows XP and drivers. Moved to Windows 7 32-bit PC. Now I have Nook Tablet provisioned for USB Debugging and ADB sees the device. Now all I need to be able to do is plug the Nook Tablet into my PC via USB and not have the USB Mode notification appear. I need to be able to navigate the device while it is connected to PC via USB and recognized by ADB. Does anyone have any insight on how to remove this USB Mode notification when I plug my NT to my PC?
What I have:
NON-ROOTED Nook Tablet Software version 1.4.3
Provisioned for USB Debugging
ADB recognizes device and I can see it with no problems.
Thanks,
Maybe you can try this?
Well here goes a reply, since a lot of the questions are answered with rooted nt and that is why there is not a hole bunch of replies.
You could try sshdroid app, it said root is optional. No usb needed for this one. Hope that works for ya.:fingers-crossed:
p.s. Use terminal in winscp and type or paste your commands in the field. Make sure you exit the app corrrectly, you don't want the ssh service to be running when you are not using it.

As Vector said, it's more difficult due to you not being rooted and on the stock OS. On ICS/JB you can simply change the storage connection type.
Have you tried just pressing the 'n' key? I don't remember myself, but it seems logical that since pressing Home on an Android phone when that screen pops up will take you back to the home screen that the 'n' key would do the same.
Why do you need to navigate the device when connected to your PC? What are you trying to do over ADB when not rooted? Most of the commands I'm aware of (while extremely limited) center entirely around typing 'su' as the very first thing you do. You must have root for that to work, though.
Jedi mind reading
Something that my significant other is still trying to teach me that I haven't fully grasp yet. I'm still at if you tell me to get you a "German Poodle" then I will get you a "German Poodle"

Yes I have tried pressing the n Key, no dice. I am trying to use screencast.jnlp to project my nook onto my PC monitor. Then show people how to use the Nook on a big screen. But when I am plugged into my PC USB port, this notification prevents me from doing anything on the device until I unplug the USB cable.
So I rooted my NT with Brianf21's root process. Thank You Brianf21! I thought these rooting processes were going to get rid of the BN operating system and turn it into a standard tablet. It did not and I was able to keep the BN modified OS and have another OS that looks just like a phone.
So I Tapped the Home icon in lower left hand corner(looks like 4 houses), selected Quick Switcher, then Selected ADW Launcher. This brought up a typical Android phone type home screen. I then pressed apps, scrolled to NT Hidden Settings and tapped it. I then selected Run ADB Daemon As Root/Turn Off Auto Mount For Session. This turned on USB Debugging and allowed me to get rid of the USB Mode notification while USB is connected to PC.
Issues with displaying nook screen on PC:
Trying to display nook screen on my PC with screencast.jnlp:
I'm trying to screen cast the nook's display screen with screencast.jnlp, I am connected via ADB and ADB sees the device. When I start screencast.jnlp is sees the devices but all I get is a white screen? I can click on the White screen and it selects whatever app or icon is in that part of the screen on the device and I can control my nook from my PC. I just cannot get the display from the nook to show on my PC. :crying:
Trying to display nook screen on my PC with Android Screen Capture:
ADB starts and sees device. I start Android Screen Capture and it sees device but I get nothing, just a Android green guy icon. :crying:
Is there anyone out there that has successfully displayed a Nook Tablets screen on their Windows 7 or XP machine? Any help is greatly appreciated.
