Porting number
I want to port tmobile number nad get $125. How the pre order thing will work with me?

Are you able to add a line to your account and put the EVO3D on that new line, then do a swap of numbers b/w your original EVO4G and new EVO3D so you then have the new phone # on your EVO4G and the original phone number on your EVO3D? Then once done you can cancel the line you just added?
Back with nextel this was common practice by those that upgraded often and was easily done b/c all you had to do was swap the SIM cards back then.

Yep everything but the cancel part

i second that i wanna know before i get spammed up the ass

IDK if OP is from androidforums or not, but we had a discussion about this:
HTC EVO 3D Discounts
And pretty much all of us decided against inputting our SSN into a studentrate.com site. IDK how this site can offer this deal when no one else can.

Here is what I am planning on doing to get the EVO 3D. First off, I will pay the ETF (which should be about $100, then I will sign a new contract with Sprint and get the EVO 3D at the discount price. Then I will sell my HTC EVO 4G and offset the price. I spoke with Sprint and the rep said that this is just about the only way to get the phone at the discount price without upgrading my contract.
This site seems a bit sketch...

I got this same deal in the past when I got my HTC Evo. The form didn't ask for any social or credit card info. When I filled it out someone called me so I could place the order with them over the phone

If you do that, Sprint might not take you back immediately. I've heard that if you cancel with them they might make you wait a few months before you're approved for a new account. The other thing is that you could end up hurting your credit. I'm not exactly sure. If you were a sprint Premier member, you might be able to get grandfathered in for your 1 premier upgrade this year, because that's what they did for me.

How??? I called in twice and was told no both times...

If you pre-order one of these phones you're guaranteed the discounts mentioned? Anyone know when the nexus s is suppose to be released?

I have the kinda the same question. Do you only get the discounts if you pre-order? What if I want to just wait till the Evo 3D comes out?
I think the Nexus S is suppose to come out early spring, so maybe this month?

I think you might still be able to get that discount even if you wait until the device comes out... However, considering the shortage of EVOs online due to some of the components being manufactured in Japan, there is a risk that the EVO 3 D will run out and be back-ordered at least that's what I think

Do you think the Evo 3D release date will be pushed back because of this?

It can't be pushed back if it was never announced

for what it's worth. Student Rate is legit. Basically, there's a guy that works there who holds all your info till launch day, and then bulk processes all the pre-orders witha dedicated sprint rep over night.
When I switched to sprint from ATT, my wife and I preordered our Epic4G's that way. I didnt put my CC info or SSN on the student rate form, but I was in constant contact with the guys there over email, and the night before launch day, I gave them the info over the phone.

Best method of upgrade for Current Evo Owners?

I need to start hearing some possible options since it looks like next month will be the release date.

What would you guys do if you wanted the EVO 3D?

Did you check your upgrade eligibility on https://manage.sprintpcs.com/specialoffers/RebateWelcome.do
Like you, I joined sprint last year on the launch day of the EVO4G at the $69.99 plan. This site says I am eligible for a full upgrade for the phone on my account. Interestingly enough it says at the bottom this program ends June 4th.

i have the same thing. I got the evo 4g at launch. up until april 1st the system said that I had a $150 credit avalible june 1st 2011. now it says I have a $75 credit june 1st and a full credit 4-1-12! All I did was call sprint telesales (they are the only ones that can do this) I very polity asked if I could have my upgrade back because I would like to get the evo 3D. they put me on hold, when they came back they said that I could get my upgrade back and that I needed to call on june first because that is when my account resets. She also said that she was making notes in my account to make this easy when I called back. i asked her to send me an email confirming this conversation. I got a email that had her specialist id# team name and date (dont think i need it but
I have had problem with sprint in the past)
So basically if you have a $75 credit right now you can call sprint telesales (888-253-1315) and ask for your $150 credit back. Mentioning the evo 3d may or may not help, but the rep did talk about the evo 3d for a second with me when I noted I wanted to get one.
Just got my upgrade back to $150..telesales didn't help me they routed my call to account services...all I did was act dumb about not knowing about the premier changes. I told him I had a full upgrade in March and all of a sudden my full upgrade was gone...so he went through all the details about the changes...and then reset my account thus giving me back my full upgrade oh yeah and made sure I got a email of the conversation

If I wanted it? I do. It will release next month. I will be absolutely flabbergasted if it doesn't come out on June 3rd (also my birthday). That would be a deviation from their tradition of releasing phones on fridays, big-deal phones on the first friday of june and also neglect to honor the Evo4G's anniversary(ish)...
The Evo really was a big deal for Sprint, just as the Evo3D is....does anyone remember Sprint's phone selection prior to the Evo4G? Quirky at best for dumbphones, random (crap) at best for smartphones....the hero or the moment or a BB....ick....and the hero--while a great phone--was a fluke.
So what am I doing? I will be trading in my Evo4G for $180 at Radioshack, I called Sprint and got my upgrade turned back into full (from $75) and I reserved a phone at Radioshack...so I will most likely be walking into Radioshack at 5am on June 3rd and likely walking out at 5:30am on with $25 in my left hand and the best smartphone to date in my right hand--as I was told (when I posed this exact question) by the RS sales rep who agreed, whose manager agreed and whose district manager agreed that they would all be shocked if it didn't come out on June 3rd....none of us know better, it just fits a pattern...and for the Evo a new tradition.
That's what I'd do.
if ur like me, i need an upgrade every yr
all u have to do is stick with a plan tht is $89.99 and up to become a gold member and receive a yrly upgrade. Next yr the Evo 3D will be a dinosaur and so I rather be a gold member than have to upgrade evey 2 yrs. I lost my upgrade in feb with the new changes but got it back cuz they made a mistake and put me as a silver member. I've been on the everything plan for months and tht qualifies me to be a gold member. i since changed my plan to the everything data 900 $89.99...if i go any less than tht then i'll be a silver member again! no waaaay!
before the evo phone came out, The touch pro 2 was a great phone but wasnt an android phone but the screen was big.

If you plan on upgrading every year then it should pay to go with the higher plan as it should run less then purchasing a new phone at full retail once a year.
Luckily I have been with Sprint over 10 years so I qualify for gold otherwise I would never be able to convince my wife to spend more money on our cell phone bill.
Being able to deal with Sprint for over 10 years, I totally feel like I deserve the yearly upgrade! I have been on the phone for countless number of hours over the years with some of the worst customer service on the planet and had some of the most stressful phone calls with them.
As a long time customer, I must say they customer service has improved more then words can describe from where it was back in the day......
I'm new to Sprint.. Got the original EVO on launch and was wondering, what if I canceled my account, pay the ETF, and open another account?
You guys are having a lot of luck resetting your credit to $150. I spoke to supervisors and a whole slew of reps without any luck.

Etf is only $120, I'll open a new acct, switch numbers, then cancel the old one and sell my evo 4g. In the end, it might turn out to be a free phone.

A simpler thing to do would just add a new line then cancel the old one. Why go through to trouble of opening a whole new account.
Wouldn't it be much easier/cheaper to sell our Evos on Ebay for around $250 then buy the Evo 3D from Sprint for $425 (Assuming the Evo 3D is $500 minus the $75 rebate)? This all varies depending on the price of the Evo 3D and how much you can sell your Evo in Ebay.

Just checked that page and same thing.
It says June 1st $75 and 4/1/12 $150.
I am a little confused though. I am one year into my 2 year commitment. If i were to use this "upgrade" from Sprint, Would I be adding 2 years making it a 3 year commitment.
Not sure I want to to commit that long. Any idea what the outright price of the phone will be? Noticed you could also trade in my Evo for $150 account credit.

The upgrade pricing is for signing a new 2yr contract which takes the place of your current contract so you would be on a new 2yr contract, not 3yr.
They have a bunch of different options when signing a new contract like if are premier silver and only a year into your contract you can sign a new 1yr and get $25 off a new phone, or a new 2 yr and get $75 off a new phone (which you will be eligible for on 6/1). After your contract expires (4/1/2012) and you are eligible for a full upgrade you can get $75 off with a new 1yr and $150 off with a new 2yr contract.
The problem is that new phones have discounts and rebates which you're only eligible for with a full upgrade. As with the EVO the phone was $550 I believe w/ $100 mail-in-rebate, $150 upgrade, and it's $200 purchase price that comes to $450. The other $100 was an instant rebate that sprint gives you and I'm almost positive that you only get that rebate with the full upgrade price. I'm even pretty sure you're not eligible for the mail-in-rebate so the difference between the 1yr and 2yr upgrades is really about $275 rather than just the difference between $75 and $150. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

You would get the EVO 3d for the discounted price on the new line.
Now what can I do I have had the Evo since October and my upgrade was supposed to be this year but got it anyways the whole first month I exchanged it, all different problems. 3 times and now I have a white Evo with the same dust problems and light leak and a few dings on the top right any suggestions?
Sprint is starting to piss me off, they're trying to screw me out of my yearly upgrade and talking to customer service is a complete waste of time. Now I'm trying to post a question to sprints message board and this is the second night in a row it has gone down for maintenance at the very moment I try to post my question.... and now it's back up five minutes later.
Google 'customer service hall of shame' and you'll see Sprint's been number one for three or four years now.

Switching to Sprint? (+ special porting deal)

After my switch to Sprint went very well this week, I wanted to share some advice with those who plan to switch. For those switching to Sprint for the EVO 3D, here's advice on how to get an excellent deal.
On June 23, the day before the EVO 3D releases, they have two deals expiring. The first offers a $125 credit to anyone who ports from another carrier to Sprint. The second gives an extra 300 minutes to anyone who gets the individual Everything Data 450 plan. That's 300 extra minutes every month for the lifetime of the plan, by the way. All this expires the day before the EVO 3D comes out because they don't want people using these deals on it.
Two solutions.
a) Go to a Sprint store, and tell them you want to preorder the EVO 3D but want to port your number over today and use a temporary phone until you can get an EVO 3D. Try to convince them, it's usually not hard with a good manager.
b) If you can't convince them, get a plan with an EVO 4G today, then return it on June 24 for the EVO 3D. There may be a $35 restocking fee, but you still get $90 off (and, if you got the Everything Data 450 plan, you get an extra 300 minutes every month for your plan's lifetime).
I went with A, and now I get unlimited data/texting/mobile-to-mobile with 750 mobile-to-landline minutes, all for $70 + tax per month. I'm on a Sanyo flip phone for two weeks, after which I get my EVO 3D.
Anyone else switching to Sprint?
I'm currently on tmobile thinking about doing this same thing. Only thing is my preorder is with Best Buy. I wonder and hoping, are they offer these discounts as well?
R.I.P hd2 hello Evo 3d
yeah thats what i did got unlimited data/texting and the 125 dollar credit and no fees to pay. just using my old phone till the new one comes in, cant wait
I have a pre-pay plan at T-mobile. Does that count?
was planning on doing the same thing. I was going to wait until a few days before the 24th release to do the switch like on the 21st-22nd. Just get the Nexus 4G which is $199 and then go back on the 24th and do the switch with your evo 3d preorder.
Have you heard anything else about a restocking fee? I thought there wasn't any fee at all?
Was hoping someone else did this first, they didn't say anything about switching the phones and messing up the $125 dollar credit? Also did you do it at a Sprint store, BB, RS?

I picked up an EVO 4G at best buy to tide me over until I get the 3D. I got the port credit and the 300 bonus minutes. I also got a mailer saying that Sprint is offering a $50 visa gift card for new acts. AAAND when I went to best buy they were doing some promo on double points for new smartphone acts. I'm pretty sure that BestBuy can't give you the $125 credit. I went into the Sprint store last week and they said that the $125 credit is to combat with the deals that Bestbuy and other stores put out there.
Sounded like you could only get the credit directly from Sprint. I could be wrong though.

Corrections and things to consider:
-the Everything Data 450 plan + 300 bonus minute plan expires 7/23, not 6/23.
-Smartphone credit is $125, dumbphone credit is only $50. So if you activate a dumbphone on or before 6/23 and then switch to a smartphone after 6/23, you may only get $50.
-I called Sprint last week and was told that a new phone activation is required to get either credit, meaning I couldn't activate my extra previously activated Hero on or before 6/23, then buy the Evo 3d and still get the credit.
-For new customers and customers adding new lines of service, the $35 restocking fee is waived. All others may get charged the fee.
-I haven't explored this further since I don't plan on doing it but existing Premier customers adding new lines may be able to order the Evo 3d on 6/21, and with overnight shipping, be able to activate it on or before 6/23 to get the $125.
I'm porting a line to my account so I've tried researching every scenario to the best of my ability, or lack thereof

[Q] amazon and the $125 "move your number to sprint" offer

I'm currently with t-mobile and am planning to switch to sprint, and I want to get the $125 they offer for switching:
www.sprint.com/landings/portcredit/?ECID=vanity:switchtosprint-
(sorry, I can't post links yet).
What I'm trying to figure out is if buying the evo 3d at amazon for $180 will make me ineligible. (See the fine-print at the bottom of the sort-of linked page).
The offer is a simple
Just bring your number from another carrier to Sprint and activate a smartphone, like the Samsung Epic 4G, on a new line between 5/4/2011 and 7/23/2011 and we'll give you a $125 service credit.

But the text that concerns me is
This offer is only available online, via telesales, and in participating Sprint Stores. Purchases from other retailers are not eligible for this credit. Requires port in from an active wireless line and mobile number that comes through the port process to a new line on an eligible Sprint service plan.

Two reasons I was planning to buy at amazon:
$20 less than the sprint price
they're offering an "activation-fee credit" of $36 (I didn't go all the way through the ordering process at sprint, but I assume they would be charging me $36 to activate as a new customer)
Any tips on what's the best way to sign up without missing any deals? As near as I can tell, signing up through wirefly was going to result in me being charged the $36 activation fee too (and no idea if they'd try to deny my $125 for switching to sprint).
$125 > $36+ $20 + tax
So go with Sprint.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
they only give you that deal if you port your number over from tmobile, and sometimes they can wave the activation fee, if you sign up right then
I switched over from T-horrible and doing it a Sprint store is better. When they port your number you lose your T-mobile services so if you have your 3D shipped through amazon you won't have a phone until it arrives at your house. Do it at the Sprint store and if you have to get on the waiting list you will be okay. Just do like I did and get a EVO 4G for $150 plus buy the gift card to get on the waiting list for the next shipment to come in. Use the 30 day satisfaction deal and when your phone comes in trade it out for your 3D. With the gift card you have already paid for the price of the phone. Also baby your Evo 4G any scratches or scrapes and they may not take it back.

Use the 30 day satisfaction deal and when your phone comes in trade it out for your 3D. With the gift card you have already paid for the price of the phone. Also baby your Evo 4G any scratches or scrapes and they may not take it back.

Questions about Evo3d upgrade...

So im looking to upgrade from my Evo 4g to a Evo 3D the only problem is i dont quite know what would be best. I got my Evo 4G around october and its in really good conditions since i have had it on my Otterbox defender case most of the time. Is there a way that I can trade the OG Evo and get the Evo 3D? I can only spend about $100 on the Evo 3D. What would be my best choice?
Sorry if i make some mistakes my main language is spanish

If you are an account holder, you can upgrade your phone once per year.
Just mention option "one year account holder upgrade override" (or something like that-they would know). At the sprint's service desk they may not advertise it, coz some sprint reps are so damn lazy or just an a-ho-s. Actually I just upgraded my Evo 4G for Evo 3D at the kiosk in Ridgedale Mall (MN) location. I paid including taxes ~$54 for new 3D. The option is that you can trade-in your old Evo 4G for $150 instantly. Sprint runs this on for some time - this week 06/25/2011 at least, so... Also if you have 2 (two) devices on the account then upgrade one or add one to yours. I have 3 phones on $129/mo plan and can upgrade at least one device every year. You can upgrade one of "N" of your devices at once and swap numbers at the spot if you need to.
The strategy here is pretty straightforward:
The Sprint Buyback plan should buy your Evo 4g for $150 (not bad!): see here: https://secure2.sprintbuyback.com/consumer/app/CartPage/
The harder part will be convincing Sprint to give you at LEAST the 1-year renewal price if you buy the 3D. If you've been with Sprint for a long time, and especially if you're with Sprint Premiere, there might be some wiggle room for you here.
Basically, call in to customer service repeatedly until someone decides to help you. What you want is for someone to offer you a service credit.
One more option: see if you qualify for any discounts on your plan: I'm a USAA member (not an employee, just a cardholder!) and I get 15% off my whole bill. That difference will make the 3D pay for itself pretty soon....

Thanks for the great reply! I guess the only problem im gonna have is convincing the Sprint to give me the 1year renewal early since ive been with them for way less than a year. Maybe they will give me some mercy since everything has been paid on time. Also do i have to unroot my phone when i give it to them?

I unrooted before trading mine in, the link I followed was here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
Ya, don't forget to unroot if you trade in!
If you've been with them less than a year..then your best option is to find a friend who loves your 4G and is willing to take over your contract--then you can walk in and pay $200 for a new 3D on a brand new account.
If you pay full price - $150 trade in credit you're still looking at $425, ouch...
Another option (what I did): have any friends you'd be willing to split a plan with? They can be added as a line of service (most likely $20/month +$10/month for data) and then you can swap the two phones, and your friend will have the 4G.
Finally, keep your eyes peeled for if and when the SAVE50 rebate becomes usable again. It seems to come and go (probably only usable on a new line of service tho).
Don't trade in your phone. It will sell in a day on Craigslist at 225 no problem. Why give away that extra 75 dollars to sprint. Usually its hard to get the full upgrade unless you have been with them for a year. Once you get the 75 dollar credit one phone call should give you a full upgrade.

EVO 3D Student Discounts

I'm switching from T-Mobile and was originally going to go with Verizon for the iphone but I found this deal for the EVO 3D with Sprint and it sounds more up my alley price wise. I live in downtown Boston so I think both carriers have decent service there. Do you guys think I should go with this Sprint deal? What do you think of the EVO 3D vs iphone?
Here's the deal I got in my email from Studentrate....
We are pleased to offer great discounts on HTC EVO 3D to qualified StudentRate.com members.
For New Customers:
$20.00 off regular price ($199.00 regular price with new contract)
15%-23% Discounts off of Monthly Recurring Service Fees available to qualified members
Click for more info on the Sprint HTC EVO 3D Deal
hell yeah comes to mind
I actually got my 3D this way. They send you through Amazon Wireless and then after confirming your order number, billing address and account number with Studentrate they take care of the rest. I actually spoke to them today and confirmed all the info so they said I should see my discount in 1-2 billing cycles. We will see...
I say yes cuz the $20 will cover part of your tax (if any) and then the discounts on monthly bills, trust me it helps. I have corporate discount of 25% monthly bill and with 2 lines of evo, it saves quite a bit.
Well if you're looking to save money a 15%-23% discount off a monthly bill would definitely help you out. Plus I think Sprint already has a pretty low cost plans compared to Verizon. I think you should go for it, maybe I will too haha.
The 3DVO is a beast, the I(wanna-be-a)Phone is a chump... I have a simple mantra, if it starts with i, do not buy.

It sounds like a good deal and would say go for it, but what is studentrate? You go through them to get the discounts?
I think it's a discount site for college students but they have a bunch of like wireless stuff
Will this discount apply to any Sprint plan?
I think it applys on the Everything Data plans. I saw this posted on their forum
I just ordered the EVO 3D through your deal OP and it was only $144.99 on Amazon Wireless. I'm not sure how long it'll be at that price but if you're still on the fence I'd try to get it now while it's on sale.
Is there any way to just apply for the discount itself? I just bought a Evo 3D but through Sprint.
I went from tmo to sprint and love it! They give you $125 per smart phone line to switch and I got my evo 3d for $149 and an evo 4g for $24.99 with free shipping free activation free everything accept tax! Go for it!

I don't think so. You have to be buying a new phone, upgrading, or adding a line.
EVO 3D looks like an awesome phone, but right now I'm with Verizon. My contract is ending soon so I could switch over. You get a $125 if you come over from another carrier? 15-23% off my bill would be a major help too. I wish there was some way to test out the EVO 3D for like a week to see if I even like it.

Isn't sero already discounted?
I think I'm going to go with the EVO 3D, but now do I want to use that deal I posted to get it through Amazon, paying only $144.99 and getting a 23% discount off my monthly bill, or I guess I can use this Sprint Deal, the phone would be $199.99 but I could get the $125 port credit and still get the 23% discount. I'm torn because do I want to pay less now, or get a refund later? I guess the port credit expires tomorrow too.
oh man, looks like I missed the port credit. Guess my best bet now would be to go through the amazon deal. Do you know if there is an expiration date?

I didn't buy mine through that site but I did chat with Sprint online and they gave me a 23% student discount just by giving them my school name and student ID. I should be seeing that reflected on my next bill.
