Can anyone tell me how to activate ad-hoc wireless on a folio 100 with dexters latest update (1.4)
there appears to be a wp_supplicant.adhoc file in the system/bin directory but i dont know how to use it
I have done this on my galaxy s using a replacement wp_supplicant file but it wont work on the folio.

mark "active ad-hoc supplicant" or similar (I can´t remember exactly) checkbox in foliowidget. It´s all ;-)
(look for foliowidget in widget´s list, add to desktop and open it, then you´ll be able to open it. It can be opened form widget´s list directly aswell. Don´t forget to give permanent supersuser permissions to foliowidget)

I use my HTC Touch HD with WMWifiRouter for creating an ad-hoc wireless network.
My laptop can connect to it fine, and navigate the internet through it, while Folio 100 with Dexter mod 1.3d, connects to it but cannot navigate the internet
Any idea?

I used the foliowidget after rooting the phone and it works just fine

I have the same problem... keeps triing to get ip... using wifi companion xda or wmwifirouter.. have you solve the problem?

I have the same problem. The folio sees the network, connects but.. it cannot get an IP. I'm looking for a solution.
If I can find something, I will post it here. Please post any advances.
ive only managed to get it work with foliomod.
the folio searches 2 times for the ip adres and then its connected.
but without wep or wpa otherwise it wont work for me.
(sending ad-hoc with win 7 and win xp)

I have mywi on my iPhone 4, and with my laptop, all is ok : i can surf when i'm connected to iPhone's hotspot.
But, my Archos 70 internet tablet doesn't see the iPhone's wifi network ...
Does anybody have any idea to use my iPhone connection on the android tablet ?

from what ive read, android tablets cant connect to an ad-hoc network, which is what MyWi on the iphone is creating.

I've the same problem than you with my iPhone 3G, here under what I try to do knowing it works perfectly with a PC instead of a GT :
I will try to connect trhough BT but I'm not sure à the result....see u later...
Through BT, you can use (as I do) the "tetherme" soft, available in Cydia.
It's like mywi, but via BT, and you have to activate it in Settings/General/Networks/sharing
(in France with my carrier, it doesn't cost any extra bucks )

OK, Tetherme installed with sbsettings toggle that's easier to handle.
But impossible to pair the GT and iPhone, found in GT, still in progress on iPhone for a long long time.....

Basicly you have to root your GT and then copy a new wireless wpa_supplicant file over.
Follow this link for intructions. It doesnt provide instructions for rooting your phone but a simple google will find you instructions for this. (obviously at your own risk also!)
Note. Before copying the new wpa_supplicant file over turn off your wifi.

I found out.
Iphone is now jailbraked and Tetherme is intstalled. Connection is made between Archos and Iphone (connected via Tether).
Internet is not working.
Anyone?
All working fine now. Enhanced TetherMe with TetherMe APN Editing.
Now it works.
Recap:
Jailbreak Iphone

Prepare BT on Archos

At first I had the same problem as many of us...
I Could pair the Iphone, and connect to PAN, but somehow no data was beeing transferred to my Archos, The fix for me was to download TheterMe v1.3-20, the previous version (1.3-18, which i previously had installed ) wasn't working for me.

Tried this word for word, but no luck. I keep getting "Connection Unsuccessful "A70S" is not supported." When your say "and.... Connect" you just click on the iphone bluetooth page is it?
update: decided to give it another try and it worked.
My steps were:
Turn off bluetooth on both iphone and A70
Turn off internet tethering on iphone
Turn on bluetooth on both and pair them
Switch to the first screen on the A70 that has wifi, bluetooth, cellphone icons
Pressed the cellphone icon (it didn't light up fully)
The cellphone tethering page appeared.
Add the iphone into the profile.
Hit "Tether" at the top of the page.
It starts to connect then says connected on the iphone.
A70 says its paired but not connected.
After a while then the internet works.
Hope this helps others. (I originally had tethering on my mobile but i still downloaded tetherme and tetherme apn editing)
yea it finally works, iphone gets connect to A70 but my A70 system freeze.

I'll have to install TetherMe on my dad's iphone for him, cause at the moment, i can't get wifi tethering to work for him.

I have installed a WIFI AP application on my 3G phone and I 'm trying to use Folio100 to connect to Internet through that. But I always can not find the WIFI hot-spot on the list. And then I checked Dexter's blog and found this problem has already been fixed in November. I have installed the latest ROM(1.3d) for my Folio and I have no idea why it still doesn't work. Anyone can give any comments?

Hi,
the reason must be your phone or the app on the phone. My Folio with FolioMod 1.3d is connecting WLAN very well to the "Android AP", provided from my Dell Streak (Froyo). Even with WPA2-PSK. No Problems at all.
Is the SSID (Broadcast) from your phone-hotspot visible?

Thanks for your info, it was strange that it was not visible from Folio100 but it was visible from my laptop... That 's why I though it is the problem of Folio100.
Any other tricks when setting up WIFI AP from phone? BTW my phone is Nokia N900. The software is called 'Mobile Hotspot'.

it has been reported many times before. it has to do with the encryption of the wifi. avoid wep if u can, and place on either wpa /wpa2 encryption.
Hi, i cant tether between folio and htc tattoo. There is a known "bug" in android, in which you cant see Wifi APs working in AdHoc mode (this is like wifi tether works).
In some new devices, like htc desire, it is fixed because tethering apps works with infrastructure mode, so APs can see in the folio, but... in devices like mine, htc tattoo this doesn't work, so the only one solution its to patch the wpa_supplicant. The problem is that that patch is for older versions of wpa_supplicant, i have tried with other patches, but doesn't work, some idea???

the foliowidget option to use "adhoc" is already enabling the patched adhoc wpa_supplicant, so its in place and has been for a long time, as it was done early on with the image back in november..
but got automated with foliowidget option, where you just restart wifi after selecting adhoc.

I've installed Your Mod1.3d as suggested in some article in the internet in my Folio 100.
I've turned on "ad-hoc" in foliowidget, Folio sees the ad-hoc network I create, but then it hangs trying again and again to get an address.
I think it fails with WEP password. If I create an open connection (with WMWifiRouter in HTC Touch HD) it connects fine, but internet navigation does not work!)
My laptop works fine with the same ad-hoc network.
Should I updated to version 1.4? Or what is wrong with it?

you should simply change to WPA or similar, that should for sure help..
i usd it with my galaxy S, and it works fine here in previous releases and nothing changed much on this topic..

Unluckily in Connection manager of my HTC Touch HD (with Energy.BLACKSTONE.29017.Sense2.5.ITA.Cookie.2.0.Mar.21 ) I cannot change the encription. Only WEP is available!
Would upgrading to FolioMod1.4 change anything?

It really depends on what you want to connect to with the AD-HOC wireless connection the HD2 uses as some electronic devices do not support AD-HOC like most Sony products for example. But there is a work around. So please post back here with what you are trying to connect to.
I have internet sharing to other so i want to connect the shared internet but the shared wireless does not shown in wireless.

Sorry for the late reply but I think you are looking for WiFi Router for Windows Mobile. There is also a paid WiFi Router app in the Market call WMRouter if I remember correctly. But I use to use the free one all the time and loved it.
I dont think u get my question.
I want to connect the ad-hoc wireless ,when u share internet from ur pc the type of connection is ad-hoc some device cant read this wireless or find it,so the point is by which way i can connect from my hd2 to those type of wireless?

Ok I think I might understand you question now, and yes I know what AD-HOC is. To put it simply it is a computer to computer connection. Anyway if you are talking about using the AD-HOC connection to put your HD2 online via your computers internet connection then you will have to use a WiFi router and access your home internet connection via Wifi. I don't think you can connect your HD2 any other way to non cellular network, at least that I know of.

I have encountered some strange problem with my HD2.
I cannot make ad-hoc connections with most laptops, except for maybe one.
This means, I cannot connect to an ad-hoc connection set up on a laptop, nor can I turn my HD2 into a wi-fi router with most computers.
The connection is detected but after trying to connect, it just cycles and eventually windows (tried xp, vista and 7) notices that it cannot connect.
I have read that it may be the case of:
1. IP mapping (but why should this happen if all these laptops did connect with my previous i8000?)
2. WLAN Channels (Whereas I found no way to access/change them on wm6.5)
It's a new HD2 so it's got the pre-installed sharing feature. I also used the wmwifi router trial and downoladed the htc installable router app (tom codon's).
I've searched the forums for 3h allready and found no conclusion - will be really greatful for some hints.

I running the stock wm6.5 HD2 rom from t-mobile.
I have just bought a Arnova 10 G2 (cheap from hmv) and would like to use my phone wi-fi hotspot to get online. The problem I have is, the tablet does not recognise WEP encryption.
Can someone tell me the easiest way I can get online using my phone?
I have done several searches and a few people discuss similar issues and talk about writing and adding code. I do not know how to do this as I'm a middle aged fat bloke with no understanding of such things.
I have read a lot about flashing the phone to make it android, would this help or is there a simpler way?

Problem is not your WM6.5 HD2.
Problem is Android has ****e standard connectivity & does not have ad-hoc support as standard.
You will have to find an ad-hoc fix for the Tablet.
WM6.5 conectivity for tethering in both directions is faultless & can be achieved via wifi/BT/USB

The only way I've found is to replace the wpa supplicant file, and it will require root access. I can't seem to attach files from my View. I got the file in the Dell Streak forum - search for wpa_supplicant. The one I have is for gb.

Hello, I've got the same tablet and tethering works with my htchd2. Wifi routing does not work, I was not able to create a PAN network with my HTC HD2, and was not able to see a DUN network on my tablet. (or is it the other way round ?)
But tethering, using my 3G connection works. I sometimes need to reboot the tablet.
