Hello,
Been trying to get droid explorer and adb to reconize my tilt2. Here is run down of what i have done.
on an up to date windows xp box
installed latest pdanet for android
installed latest droid explorer
connected my tilt2, it installed the adb driver but wont install the 2 cdc asm drivers
run droid explorer and it doesn't reconize the phone. i have the phone in debug mode and notification does come up.
on the android side i am running
frx 5
wistilt2 test kernel
highlandsun ril driver
btw, tried to run the busybox installer and it says it cant gain root access.. i thought all these builds have it by default or am i missing a step or two. I have superuser installed.

All you need is the XDA device to install. The other two, CDC etc are not needed.
Is the adb service running? See if adb.exe is in task manager. You only need pda.net for the drivers, the software will mess with adb itself. So make sure their software is not running.
What do you mean busybox installer? For Titanium Backup or...?
You don't need SuperUser, that is an app that is more for security - if something asks for SU, it'll let you allow it thru the app. Yes, all our HaRET builds are rooted.

I didn't have a problem, My drivers installed automatically for me, but I'm using Win7.
You don't have to have pdanet or superuser for DroidExplorer to work.
Goto your device manager and see what device is listed under ADB interface. My Rhod300 shows up as a HTC DREAM.

Sorry arrrghhh, I had the window sitting open, and thought I had hit submit... lol
i was able to install on a windows 7 box and it picked up the drivers but when opening up droid explorer it still shows no devices found. any other advice?

Did you try mine? Remove pda.net, once you have the drivers no software is required from them.
Plus, you might also try the good ole reboot, and ensure that adb.exe is running in the task list.
All things I suggested previously...
yes, i've done the suggestion. It shows its connected. Under device manager there is an android phone, under that there is android adb interface but nothing under that. I don't know what else to do. Is there something i am missing on the android side?
and adb is running in taskmanager.

and you've rebooted?
I'm out of ideas, I've installed adb on tons of computers, win7 xp etc and all work flawlessly. It is a pretty advanced debugging tool, it's not very easy to install or use...
yes and i have rebooted twice now. still the same thing.
Boot android on phone.
Plug phone in.
Run Windows update.
Check device manager to make sure everything has drivers installed.
Run DroidExplorer
phone will show up as 00000000 in DroidExplorer
Reinstall DroidExplorer if problem persists.
Oh and there should be a device or driver in device manager called XDA, if memory serves me correctly.
Had the same problem about a month ago... downloaded PdaNet from the Marketplace here and it established the connection so I could use the USB to my phone. I didn't have to run it or buy it though .. just install it.

downloaded all the stuff from the thread. everything went smoothly. i watched the video step by step. after uploading the usbdrivers to my NT it said
"Android ADB interface" instead of "android composite ADB interface"
it shows up in my device manager as a nook tablet still.
i derped. so i thought it would be ok anyways and then tried to zerg rush the baster-ahem NT only to see that the Zerg didn't even find my device.
i promptly decided to just wipe everything from my nook and start fresh but also every single thing i tried has failed to get rid of that blasted "android ADB device" from the one click unroot thing to doing a 8 step reset thingy and just plainly reset and wipe data from the stock settings, and now many hours later i have had enough and decided to swallow my pride and flaunt the noob card. i need help. i must find a way to wipe everything or maybe i can take a step from here. i dunno. derpy derp.

hm... well not sure if this is hidden anywhere in your description but did you try reinstalling the nook tablet drivers? since you have android adb device right now, uninstall that and if windows prompts you to restart you should do that. When you uninstall the adb drivers if there is a checkbox saying delete driver software for this device make sure to check that as well. basically what i am trying to say is you want to start fresh as in there should not be any reference to android or nook on your windows pc
another program that may be helpful is using usbdreview which is a program that monitors all devices with usb drivers. this may help is attempting to delete any reference to android and nook on your windows pc. hope this helps!
EDIT: just to add this tidbit in, if your having troubles with ADB, chances are it has nothing to do with your NT but rather with the drivers that Windows has installed already. There's a guide to installing ADB correctly, here's a link:

thanks for the reply, tried it. i tried the process and my computer said itfound drivers for my device but couldn't install new drivers on my android ADB interface.

hm.. well if it keeps on auto installing generic drivers you will need to disable auto installation of drivers by windows. try looking through each of these links and see if it solves your problem. fyi you should uninstall all drivers relating to android and nook before proceeding

well this is weird one atleast for me. i had all those settings on at the very start of the rooting process. and in the end i need to enable in the system config the USER to override the automatic driver install policy. so my anti install was thwarting me this entire time!!! ugh!!! total noob but we all gotta start somewhere. thanks to everyone for helping me out!
So I have a Samsung Vibrant(just got it recently) and I'm having problems when i connect it to the computer. It gives me an USB device not recognized on my windows 8 computer. I have spent all morning searching and reinstalling drivers and trying my old pc and new cables and i found out that my old windows 7 computer with 4GB of ram and an overloaded hard drive will detect my device the problem there is it not my main computer and i dont want to have to connect all the vga cables boot it up connect mouse and ect to use this computer just to be able to copy files, and do other things from my computer to my phone I dont know why my main computer dell inspiron windows 8 will not work when it was a couple of days ago when i had a problem with conectivity and had to flash back to stock but now it wont connect. could someone help me? Here's a list of things i've tried
installing kies
installing adb again
aoi tool and then drivers
a bunch of diffrent drivers found on the fourms
diffrent usb cable
i would like to be able to do it on my main computer but its not working if someone could help that would be great
also please dont hate on me for having windows 8 jk i dont care :good:
I'd have to say that your drivers are all scrambled. Look up "android SDK" here on xda and install that for a bigger variety of drivers. Or just download Google's USB driver and manually install it through device manager which always works for me. Windows 8 is new and very complicated.

I will try this when I get home from school this afternoon but i have tried downloading android SDK(adb correct?) and then going into device manager and then going to downloads/adb/sdk/exstras/google/usb drivers and it never finds anything.

Android SDK is installed in the main drive right? local disk c?
You have to click the folder (usb_driver) and then click update.
In the android sdk folder there should be and exe file called SDK manager. There you will be able to download all the drivers for your current android version also the latest Google drivers and SDK tools etc.
I was stuck on this process for a long time because it allways works different for everybody. Just keep me posted on what you do I'm more than glad to help.

everything is up to date in the sdk manager do i need to reinstall it? also it still wont find the drivers i have atatched some png files take a look the picktures and it will show you the where the drivers are and what im selecting

So what exactly happens when you click update? What does it say?
Is your PC up to date? (update wise)
Do you have the the drivers for the phone itself like samsung drivers?
And did you try rebooting your PC after installing your drivers? <-- that is important. You should always reboot after install or uninstalling drivers otherwise you'll end up scrambling them.
From the pictures it shows you have the drivers but I'd also try going deeper than usb_driver, try clicking on i386 or amd64.

i have the latest update from microsoft and yes i have the drivers for my phone itself and i rebooted a right after i installed the drivers and then unisntalled and i have gone into i386 and amd64 give me a second and i upload a picture of the error

OK make sure there are no HTC drivers on your PC. When you hook up your phone does USB storage work or anything like that?
Check those out and then I want you to go to Google, download pdanet latest version via pc (dont install yet) and go to the play store and install on your phone turn on USB debugging and the install non market apps and hook your phone up to the computer. Then install pdanet via PC and see if that works. HTC drivers get in the way of Samsung's BTW.

OK good and yes its in the play store for free but I don't think you have to install it but it makes the process more easy for ya.
You do have usb debugging and install non market apps checked right? You need those on.

still giving me the error i think its my computer because it works on our family laptop school computer and basment computer how do i totally unistall drivers not from device manager theres a difrent way i think not sure

I want you to uninstall all your Samsung drivers(not android SDK) under control panel/uninstall programs. If you see something like Samsung kies definitely uninstall it. Reboot your computer and follow this guide for windows 8:

After this if it doesn't work I'd recommend pulling out your old computer for android modding lol. I'll still look up some threads for your problem. Let me know what's going on after that. Make sure when you follow that guide your phone can not be plugged in the computer. And when you plug your phone into the computer after everything is done and after you reboot your computer for the second time, USB debugging has to be off and when phone is done unplug and turn back on USB debugging and plug back in and wait for that. Adb should work.
[Edit] you can also try running your drivers in windows 7 compatibility. Sorry I couldn't help much.

ive tried so many things i give up it makes me mad that any other computer even ones with windows 8 on them it works fine with out any sepecial installation but on my current computer it doesnt

I think I know what the problem is. Make sure you uninstall all the previous drivers, then have the correct drivers ready.
What you have to do is to disable driver signature enforcement.
Step 1. Go to the right bottom corner of the desktop and wait for the side menu to appear. When it's there click on the gear icon with the title "Settings".
Step 2. Now click on the entry "More PC Settings", then click on the entry "General".
Step 3"Restart now" (under "Advanced start up ") and click it.
Step 4. Now click "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced Options" and after that click "Windows Start up Settings".
Step 5. Click on "Restart" and wait, then on the next screen press F7.
You will now reboot, and try now to install the drivers (by manually selecting the folder in device manager).
I'm not sure what is the correct drivers for you.
But try this. It's still worth a shot.

didnt make a difrence still getting error i think its something with my system so i guess without a full diagonostic it wont work
Anybody else got problems with connecting to the PC with the USB cable?
What "problems" are you having?
The Windows Explorer does not start, though there is the sound when connecting the USB. Tried uninstalling the driver and letting the system reinstall upon connecting, but still cannot see Nexus 9 in Windows explorer. In Linux get the the notification and clicking on the "open with File Manager" gives a quick error message - too quick to read. So I am wondering if anyone got this problem??

I updated my SDK files, but that didn't seem to work either. It does show up as a camera when I change from MTP, so I just started sideloading apps, files, and books to the picture folder, then using a file explorer to move them to the correct folder.

Mine was able to be detected at my work computer (windows 2000 in MTP mode), but it shows up as "Android" in Explorer instead of a drive letter like I'm used to with my phone.
Same for me. Only ptp working. Google USB ADB drivers instaled

You'll never get it to show up as a driver letter. Android gave up on mass storage a couple of versions ago.

If you are on W8.1 then you may have the "ACER Composite ADB Interface" - A Microsoft upgrade fault.
A search for "ACER Composite ADB Interface remove error delete" should give plenty of hits. Here's the first post from http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-7-tablet-2012/362325-nexus-7-not-recognized-computer-2.html :
Would you happen to know if any Acer drivers are installed on your computer? Here recently there was a Windows Update that installed the wrong driver and made it so that I had the exact same problems as you're having. Here's how I fixed it.
Go To> Control Panel>Hardware and Devices>Device Manager. In Device manager look for something along the lines of "ACER Composite ADB Interface", at least in my case I had the wrong ADB interface installed. You'll know if you have the wrong drivers if you go to Devices and Printers and right click your Nexus 7 and go to it's properties. It should be under the hardware tab where it lists it. If it doesn't just say Nexus 7 then follow these instructions. Once you find it in the Device Manager (once again in my case it was the ACER Composite ADB Interface causing the issue) right click and and uninstall it. There should be a dialogue box that pops up right after which will ask you if you want to delete the drivers. Check this box and proceed with the uninstall. After successfully uninstalling the drivers plug in or unlplug and plug back in your Nexus 7. It should show up now with the correct drivers installed.
Thanks, but I am on Windows 7. Driver is ClockworkMod Ver 7.0.0.1 dated 2012-08-27, which Windows reports as up to date (?). Works for PTP but not MTP.
I have had problems with other devices including the nexus 5 and nexus 10 to connect over mtp. Previously i used the nexus root toolkit which has some wizard to guide you to install proper drivers for mtp and adb. The toolkit is yet to support nexus 9 but you can still use the wizard to uninstall the old drivers and reinstall correct ones
Updating sdk. Uninstall and installing again driver did the trick for me
SORTED!! (sort of) Updated sdk and uninstalled and installed the driver again, but it did not do the trick for me. Gave up on Win7.
Instead had a go on XP. Initially everything the same. Noticed two choices of compatible hardware given: "Google Nexus ADB Interface" (the one I had installed already) and "USB Composite Device". Tried the latter one, and yes it did install. In the device manager it turns up as "Portable Device/Nexus 9" (and not as "Android Phone/Google Nexus ADB Interface" as before).
In Windows Explorer it is shown as "Nexus 9/Internal storage" with all the directories, and actually when inserting the USB I do get auto start. By the way, was having the USB debugging disabled. The driver is Microsoft dated 2006-02-22 version 5.2.5326.4762 - which is not what I would have expected. But it works!
Will try to get something similar to work on Windows 7
SORTED! Yes also Win 7 - and it was easy. Uninstalled the driver, plugged in the USB and it installed! Also got the auto start to choose action. It now turns up as "Portable Devices/Nexus 9" in the device manager and as "Nexus 9/Internal storage/etc" in Windows Explorer. The driver is now Microsoft ver 6.1.7600.16385 dated 2006-06-21. Strange. As long as it is working!

To Root Your Device, All you have to do is enable developer options/mode by tapping on your build number multiple times. Then navigate to Developer Options and make sure you enable USB Debugging or else your PC wont recognize the tablet. Make sure that you have Installed the proper ADB drivers for your device and its Drivers.
Requirements and conditions:
1-Make sure that your computer is not connected to other Android devices
2-Make sure that you have installed the ADB drivers for S8-50 tablet
3-Make sure that the machine is turned on USB debugging
4-Connect the device to your computer via USB
5-Download the below attached file, extract it, and run the program
6-If all the conditions and requirements are met, after working program closes automatically, the device will reboot automatically and will appear on the unit program SuperSU .

If you get an error during the rooting process that said "adb server is out of date killing adb server didn't ack" or something like that, there is a way to fix it. Open Task Manager on your PC and try closing adb.exe and restarting it, or just Google the error and you will most likely find a way.

If you get an error during the rooting process that said "adb server is out of date killing adb server didn't ack" or something like that, there is a way to fix it. Open Task Manager on your PC and try closing adb.exe and restarting it, or just Google the error and you will most likely find a way.

Do this root apply to the s8-50F ?
EDIT: This method indeed does work on the S8-50F variant. Was having problems with device staying in adb while running program, but a reboot of pc fixed that and gained root effortlessly. THanks!

To Root Your Device, All you have to do is enable developer options/mode by tapping on your build number multiple times. Then navigate to Developer Options and make sure you enable USB Debugging or else your PC wont recognize the tablet. The download isn't working for me. It's not downloading as a zip? Any suggestions?
If youre using windows, download a program called 7-zip and downoad the file. right click the root software and click extract here. or open with 7-zip. You could also use winrar. The format of the file is in .7z right ? that means search up http://www.7-zip.org/

Not sure. Have you tried the full unroot method in the su app?

Thanks both of you. I ended up returning it, root and all, but I'm sure your suggestion would have worked.
After rooting, has there been anything anybody's been able to do about battery life? I don't imagine there's been any Roms built for this device yet, but didn't know if maybe someone's figured out something that's helped extend their battery life, because when playing certain games like clash of clans for instance, I'm lucky to get an hour and a half of game play, and that's with my brightness turned all the way down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is a very easy and usefull root instruction, i rooted my tab s8-50f with no problems.
I followed the steps described and got instant root without any issues.
My machin is windows pc with windows 8.1 pro 32bit. Plug your tab and windows recognized the drivers just make sure your device mngr shows lenovo s850 and you are all set. Then just run the flash tool and it will run in less than a minute your tablet will reboot and your tab will be rooted.
Yes this is probably the easiest I've ever rooted any device in the past. If at first it doesn't take, don't worry it will. Just repeat the process till it does. Thanks Hash.h for putting up this thread and passing along the info

Where can I download the ADB drivers for S8-50 from?
I think drivers come with tablet. Try to connect the tablet and it will show CD drive on which is the driver.
error: device offline?
I followed this with no luck. I have adb installed and running "adb devices" shows the tab connected, but when I run the tool "error: device offline" scrolls repeatedly and no root.
Any suggestions?

Tried on another computer and succeeded.
This worked brilliantly...
but then I upgraded my firmware using the in-built system and it de-rooted. Now the exe no longer works.
New firmware is S8-50F_S000200_150121_ROW
Exe -appears- to run well, but appears to fail on the last command. Unfortunately it disappears off the screen before I can check the exact nature of the error. It appears to go fine until the final attempt to copy the SU binary into place fails with a 'File not found' error.
I've also tried the other method here:

The flashtool fails to find the device (I know the drivers are installed), so I'm unable to install the new boot image.
ADB shell fails
mount -o remount,rw /system
with the response
mount: Operation not permitted

Same problem here. Lost root after the last update and now I can't get either root method to work.

I previously was using HTC explorer and had many great experience of rooting and changing custom ROMs setting up of adb was easy with it but currently I own a dell venue 7 3740 LTE tablet which is having KitKat 4.4.4 I have a HP laptop with windows 7 ultimate I want to start using adb in command prompt so that I can do lagcat and capture ota updates link also I want to use adb so that some apps which needs root but can be used via some tweaks done in adb eg.helium,screen shot ultimate etc.
please help me how to setup adb in my laptop.

yes I have installed the v1.9.0 setup in device manager in laptop when I connect my tab with debugging enabled it shows in portable device my tab name,and other device mtp is shown with yellow exclamation.
mtp drivers for tab are not getting installed.
in cmd when I hit adb devices I don't get my tab details

yes its shows yellow error in mtp but I am able to transfer files from laptop and tablet only thing is I can't use cmd and adb but after going thru your link I come to know that my adb was too old which is of my HTC explorer so I downloaded adb (platform.zip) from the thread given in your post and then for mtp I manually selected driver installed in my laptop I.e adb interface >Samsung adb and then I tried cmd in new platform.zip which had updated adb files for jellybean+ version and now its working fine.
Dunno how you did that. I'm a newbie.

so you too also want adb to work for you right?
I can't say exactly what made it work for me cause I have s duos 2 also n so its drivers are also installed in my lappy.
but you do one thing
1.install Intel android driver from above post v1.9.0
2.enable debugging in tablet and connect and then goto device manager where you have mtp error,right click on mtp,update drivers select from folder will appear below that must be some option select from installed drivers goto that see Intel android driver after that you will be getting multiple option android adb interface, adb composite interface select any one preferably android adb interface and install.after that uncheck debugging and again check it and see if mtp error is gone from device manager.
3.download platform.zip from your given thread link unzip it and in that folder open cmd by holding shift and right click do open cmd here and check if all is OK by typing adb devices,if its OK it will list your device.

The problem is, Installing Intel USB drivers does not do anything. Its does not show up in my device manager.

if still yellow error is shown on device manager right click on it update driver,then browse from folder or look for installed driver some where is must be there search something related to Intel or adb and select that else forget it cause what's the use of adb for us as there is no custom ROM or other things to do.
other way is download helium app on PC and tablet and in ptp mode you can get adb working
