[Q] Need to Wipe and get back to STOCK - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have enjoyed the G-Tab but the boss got me a Xoom 3g and the G-Tab has been sitting unused so I decided to get rid of it.
I had CYANOGEN on it and worked great.
I have search the threads for a good link to the STOCK G-TAB but all I come up with are the modification..which are great but of no use if I want to resell the tablet.
Does anyone have a good link to the STOCK for this so I can try and get this thing into a resellable condition?
Thanks,

flash the current stock update

Did you have a look at the wiki

Thanks, downloading and will try tonight.

I actually have the same question. Can this be done using ROM manager/Clockwork? Did'nt they make some changes to the boot code recently?

I just did it last night and it brought my gtab back to the original state. It even removed CWM. It leave your internal SD card untouched.

[ODIN] EB01 .tar file w/ root and CWM!

Hey I found a wonderful .tar file that will help anyone trying to get to EB01. You can go from any version with root and CWM included. Hope this helps.

I'm just the messenger. I did nothing for this except find it. Didn't see this around here....hopefully I don't get scolded.
This seems fairly solid. I'm already up to the newest version of SuperClean (or else I would use this), but I'm thinking I'll use this to get my friend's SGS up to speed. Can't believe This guy's got an Odin file for 3 different EB01 builds. That's pretty awesome.
I've been rocking his stock deodexed Odin for a couple of days now. Great, easy package.
Of course I would see this after going back to DL09 then back up to EB01 the "long way" and setting everything back up. lol Thanks for the link. Should save me a lot of time in the future.
I went for the stock version for my first try with eb01, but might try the others soon. I also was surprised there was no mention of this odin option anywhere here.
I'm thinking of going with the deodexed version but if I do that, does that mean all my apps have to be deodexed in order to install them? I'm absolutely ignorant about it.
This is a good way to fix the DBData issue that a lot of us are experiencing.
I just got a warranty replacement today so finding this made everything so easy, thank you so much

Worked great. Very easy way to install froyo.
Yea I agree it's so simple. Hopefully more people wanting froyo see this. Go thank this dude!
Yeah this was great. No need to transfer the rom to the sd card and use cwm. Very streamlined and the deodexed rom runs fantastic (just had to remove a few extra items, like DRM stuff)
i keep getting an error 0 transfer failed or something like that any ideas?
<osm> all threads completed. ( succeed 0/ failed 0)
is the error i get
Thanks for this life saver!
Rav try re-downloading it...it's possible your file is. corrupt.
i did that still same error, only thing i can think of is i was using a different cable than what came with the phone, going to try it again with the factor cable.
Trying to download via my phone. Are the links dead? Also I'm thinking it would be easy to replace sc 2.1 with 2.4 and future versions in the package?

I ran the deodexed version and then restored from titanium backup. Every thing went very smoothly. But I was getting a lot of force closes until I cleared the cache.
I also got rid of the Included swype and installed the swype beta which works much better.
The all in one package is about as ready as it gets.

so i got the update done and everything installed now my problem is i have no internet says 3g is on but i get connections errors on any thing like FB or words with friends.
any reason why it would just all the sudden stop working
Does this still have widgets and touchwiz like in the dl30 Rom?

Can I return it to OEM after CM, ROM, etc.?

Woot gTab owner here.
Been lurking here and on a ton of other forums for when I bought the Xoom. Instead the Woot gTab popped up, so...
Anyway, I got it Friday, am about to have at it, when I wondered--those official ViewSonic downloads--will it return the thing to its condition now? With all the apps that came with it?
I have assumed I'll just love VEGAn or TNT Lite, but it seems like none of them are perfect, and at least some people like the stock TNT ROM. So if I don't like them that much...can I go back to OEM stock? I have to admit--I kind of like the stock weather app. I don't know why...
Anyway, thanks in advance.
You will be able to flash back to stock 3389, 3452, or 3588 using update.zip files in these forums. The 3452 and 3588 both also install stock recovery, but I don't remember if 3389 does. I think the woot gtabs all came w 3389, but they were slughtly different from the store bought 3389s (woot ones had Pandora, Angry Birds, etc.).
So, you come "close" to an out-of-box woot tab, but not exactly.

1. I think it was roebeet who posted the stock roms. I think they may be in the development forum.
2. I think you may be able to pull the update.zip off your stock gtab before doing any moding.
3. You can follow the nvflash procedure in the development forum and then apply the update to get back to a stock rom.

Assuming norhing based in >3588, I don't think he'll need to nvflash.
If he has CWM installed, he'd just need to use it to flash (e.g.) an 3452 or 3588 update.zip, and CWM will be gone.
If he doesn't gave CWM installed, he needs to fo stock recovery w one if those update.zip files (w recovery/command file).

That's what I was looking for, thanks! Um...any help as to how? I am literally following instructions on ROMs and CW from other forums. This is my first Droid device, aside from a month with a D1 a year ago.
Though it looks like I'm going back to a Droid Pro, since I haven't seen yet how to Bluetooth tether and share data and GPS with a Blackberry.

Oh geez. Haven't got that far yet. Mostly I'm just worried if I hate the other ROMs I can get the stock video and music players back, and the stock weather app.
I'd even be willing to try the stock TNT for a while, it just seems harder to get the full Market on stock TNT than it does to flash to TNT Lite or VEGAn and get the Market (or at least the documentation on how to do that is easier to find.)
Anyhow, thanks a ton. These forums make this a much better experience.
fre1102,
Read the stickies. I have written several stickies and a couple of other posts in
both General and Q&A where I have tried to spell out the basics of Memory, Storage, Recovery, etc.
Most of the procedures are mentioned in those threads.
You can do a lot using stock recovery as long as your G-Tablet doesn't have any problems.
Rev
The quick answer is that you can get your tablet back to a stock condition, but not the condition in which it was shipped from woot.com, using the ROM's you list above.
It is doable to get it fully back to the way you got it, but the process has several steps.
Have a gander at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017148, especially near the end of the thread.
You can get very, very close by doing a restore from a clockworkmod backup posted in the thread above. This will, however, leave the tablet with clockworkmod recovery instead of standard recovery if you stop there.
Why on earth would you want to?
Once you try ANY other ROM, I imagine you will be laughing at your own naivete about wanting to go back to (cough) stock.
Night and day dude. Night and day.

You could finish up by nvflashing the original recovery partition back to it. In fact... tried it yesterday and it would be very difficult to tell that it hadn't been started as long as you get an nvflash backup and nandroid backup before doing anything else with the tablet.

Tiger Direct return policy????

Good evening folks. WOuld anyone mind sharing any success or failure returning a gtab to tiger direct? I just ordered it on 4-6. The other question is that I put the new kernel etc and new image on it. Is that something that is a no no?
I would like to consider getting something else but im hoping it can be returned. any advice?
I don't know about their return policy, but if US Merchants keeps their word the OTA Updater will be fixed by tomorrow - you should update the firmware right away, imo. I heard that the TD models are very old firmware.
ive already updated it to TNT etc. it works fine. I am just not using it at all, so id like to send it back. my main question is about the fact that its not the stock rom. will tiger take it back even though i modified it? or will they only accept a stock rom back
thanks
I would run with the assumption that you will have to get your unit back to a stock ROM before you send it back. Do you really want to risk them denying your return because you didn't take the time to flash it back to stock?
yeah, good point.
i havent seen many threads on getting it back to stock. if anyone has a link id love one. ill try to search as well.
so i would need to get the stock rom on, as well as the stock kernel etc too right?
There are a few ways to get it back to stock. You can just flash a stock ROM -- for example, one of these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000
hey roebeet. i want to thank you for all your contributions. very much appreciated.
so if i use nvflash, will it get rid of CWM, the kernel i installed , etc?
i want to get it back to Out of box mode.
thanks
nvflash (the 1105 one) one will make it completely 2967 stock, even recovery. The only other things you'd want to do is 1) a factory reset (to wipe data) and 2) remove anything you left on /sdcard.

[Wanted] Stock ROM

Well, I'm new to the android world and found some very nice tips and tricks.. however I've come to an problem. Was tinkering with Rom Toolbox to find icons that I liked as I do not like the default ones.. but it seems none of the 1% work and every other one i've tried for the battery goes to 20%.
Before installing them it said to back up and I did however it didnt seem to save them and when I try to restore default icons its greyed out. Tried everything I could think of and nothing worked..
Where can I download
Blur.Version.651.73.240.XT910.Rogers.en.CA ROM
so that I can literally turn my phone back into right out of the box icons and all..
and on that note.. is there a way to save the ROM once i do restore it so if i come to this issue again I can easily put it back on.
ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated.
No one has this ROM?

I'm looking for this one too!
Ditto, I would like to obtain it also.
I actually haven't molested my RAZR rom yet and I do happen to have that version. However, I'm not too well versed in ripping roms off of a phone. Maybe if there was a comprehensive guide on how to do so, I could help you guys out.
Hey! I had made a thread a while ago with a Nandroid of the stock rogers rom you can restore with cwm. Search it up and restore it. You should be able to go back to out of the box condition. Also make sure you follow the edited instructions. Good luck and let me know if it works well or if you need any help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570466
There is the link for the stock rogers nandroid thread.
Thanks!
Thanks so much! Worked perfectly for restoring! Now that I have those crappy apps I removed, back on the phone, I'll hopefully be able to update!

Guidance to get from SalsaCM7 to ICS Thank you!

I have lurked for a while looking for a thread that closely matches the path I have taken. I arrived here partly by the sequence of threads and instructions I read and what has worked for me so far. I am somewhat versed in installing different ROMs as I did so on my Incredible.
I would like to get to ICS. It just looks cool. I bricked once last night trying. I used Odin to get back to stock GB. Then got to where I am.
Details:
1. Use Odin to get to stock GB. (EH03 and Atlas _v2.2 pit) Reboot to stock GB.
2. Use Odin to push CWM4 fixed for CM7
3. Three finger to CWM4 and load salsaCM7_fascinate_02132012.zip
4. Install Gapps zip from CWM4
5. Use phone
Currently when I boot recovery from the three finger method I get CWM4 but it will not mount /data, /system, /cache, etc. If the device is booted and I reboot to recovery with the power button I get CWM5 and all files mount correctly.
Can I just load an ICS ROM from CWM5?
Do I need to start with build 2 or can I use 6.1 from here?
Or do I need to go back to stock EH03, load a plain CM7 and move forward that way?
I think I may have found an answer in Droidstyle's guide in section 4. I would have to go back to stock though to get CWM4 to work, then install THS build 1.
Do I have to do this or can I reboot into CWM5 recovery from the SalsaMOD CM7 and install an ICS ROM? Would I have to use an earlier build like 1 or 2 or can I go straight to 6?
You can go straight to ICS from CM7, and you can certainly try jumping straight to the latest build, but I always have had to install build 1 or 2 first and then the later build. When I went from CM7 to ICS, I was on a different CM7 rom, but you should be able to go to ICS without having to go all the way back to stock.
Another thing to keep in mind is NEVER to 3-finger into recovery once you've flashed an ICS rom, you'll end up bootlooped. I'd get into the habit of always rebooting recovery from the power menu.
Chuckles at the fact someone flashed salsa...
Ooh and Goodluck flashing

Many thanks. I have both builds on my SD card at the moment. I did make the mistake of booting recovery from the three finger method. That's why I had to Odin all the way back to stock. I won't be doing that again.

Yeah yeah yeah... I saw that coming after reading several threads today.
It is actually working okay for me. I just like the look of the ICS ROMs. I think I am going to go with THS build 6.1 w/ Icy Glitch kernel like DroidStyle mentioned in another thread.
Also, I am going to try the 4G world and pick up a Charge this afternoon. Any thoughts on that device?

THS 6.1 and glitch v14 has been a great combo for me, I've never really had a more stable setup, even with overclocking. My uptime was around 120 hours before I finally got a freeze and a reboot but that probably wouldn't have even happened if I left the kernel settings default.
I can certainly see where 4g speeds would come in handy and look forward to upgrading to a 4g device when we get it in my area. I've gotta say though, the charge doesn't seem to be too popular among the modding community, I know there are a few roms around for it, but to my knowledge, they don't have working ICS. I was pretty happy with CM7/MIUI for a while and held off on switching full-time to ICS, but I can't really see myself going back now. Amazing performance and 4.0 is just a great upgrade for android in general, in addition to looking "cool". I've gotta think that going to a phone that's not as well supported rom/kernel wise, and without functional ICS would feel like sort of a downgrade, even with the charge's beautiful screen and LTE radio, but that's just me. Unless it's a screamin deal, I'd just hold out for a nexus.
Good move using Droidstyles guide ! FWIW....I have better luck with the THS 6.0 build.

The Fascinate is running ICS nicely thanks to DroidStyle. I did get the Charge. I did get it a hundo less than the going rate in my area. I need to go to 4G because I have been 'throttled' on 3G. It is a suxdonut but I am a data user so VZW punishes me.
I do need to get this Charge off stock but in the meantime at least I can bring up a web page in less than five minutes. My speeds were below 300k on 3G when I was 'throttled'.
I think my next step will be to learn some basic dev skills for these devices. I mean, if I can teach myself old school VBA I think I can fumble through some development. If I come up with something good, I will certainly share.
Just curious, how did you know that you were being throttled?
