Prologue:
(OLD) Hi all, I didn't feel like waiting for a full EC10 ROM, so I made one. I have been doing testing today (3/29-3/30) to work out bugs that I encounter, and I think I have it to where there are none... or very few. This ROM is a Mesmerize EC10 port, and as some know the phone is pretty much identical to ours minus a few things USCC. This is a sole project created by myself with indirect help from the Fascinate forum users.
/////////////////////////////////////////
Thanks goes to: adrynalyne (mods), GizmoDroid (mods), gtg465x (launcher), L3ttuc3 (SMS/MMS ideas), dfgas (SMS/MMS tips), and everyone else!
/////////////////////////////////////////
A few notes:
Flash this at your own discretion. I am providing this ROM for testing to the community. You may encounter bugs, though I hope there are not many, if any.
This ROM requires CWM recovery.
This ROM DOES NOT include a kernel, you must have one in place or have one installed already, or install one after flashing in recovery.
Wipe cache/dalvik-cache before flashing this ROM for best results.
I would also recommend re-provisioning your phone with *228 option 1 (activation) and option 2 (PRL update) after loading the ROM.
Fix permissions just in case, after ROM flash, you can do this by using either ADB or a terminal emulator: 1) type "rw", 2) type "fxpms", 3) Reboot
/////////////////////////////////////////
ROM Features:
Full and complete EC10 Mesmerize base
Extreme ROM clean
Latest Gapps including Chrome to Phone

ad blocking hosts file
OPTIONAL proper AOSP android logo boot animation in portrait mode (can be found in /system/bin, remember to backup, then remove, bootsamsung.qmg, and bootsamsungloop.qmg in /system/media before applying this)
Stock de-Verizoned Galaxy S boot animation
ringtone/notification flip-flop to VZW type
latest su binary and Superuser application with proper symlink
latest BusyBox 1.19 from adrynalyne's git with proper symlinks

/////////////////////////////////////////

Missing voicemail settings in Call Features
Upon clearing settings storage data your settings may not save thereafter, see this post to restore functionality http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12621037&postcount=172
No audio in camcorder recordings, or voice recorder recordings - this is not a ROM bug, it is related to Voodoo Sound enabled kernels, please see this post for a fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12620125&postcount=166

Thank you for the hard work! BTW why did you remove Swype and Samsung keyboard? They are awesome imo.

I agree, but I couldn't find a compatible version of Swype that would work. Samsung Keypad works fine, but I removed all custom keyboards. In other versions, I may add them back.
In the mean time, sign up for Swype beta: http://beta.swype.com/ This will net you the latest version of Swype.

What is the difference between this and SuperClean? Is it just this is fully EB10 based and SuperClean is somewhat of a frankenstein?

Yep. This is pure EC10 while Superclean is like a bit of all the Froyo releases merged together.

So do you think this would work better since it is all based off of a single release?

Test it and report back any problems that you encounter. This ROM goes beyond the cleaning of SuperClean and also provides you with most of the best ROM tweaks up front (though everything is of opinion).
Like others said this is pure EC10 (which is the latest). As far as I know EC10 is the official version release for the Mesmerize, which means (though does not prove) that it is likely this version is also for the Fascinate. The most likely reason that Verizon has not released something yet is because they are VERY picky about the BLOATWARE that comes with your device. Verizon will delay software releases to the moon and back until they have every little penny pinching bloat possible.

thanks for this -- I will certainly give it a try

so far its pretty smoothe. the home button doesnt work. no other issues so far.

second issue, theres no lock screen.

To fix the home button and lock screen, follow this exactly. Load command prompt, and:
Code:
$ adb shell
$ cd /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
$ sqlite3 settings.db
sqlite> .tables
sqlite> select * from secure;
sqlite> INSERT INTO secure (name, value) VALUES (‘device_provisioned’, 1);
sqlite> .exit
Reboot, that should fix both.
I'm also releasing a second version within a few hours. I found a problem with the init.d scripts not loading as they should, which will be fixed in this new version.

What kernel are you using by chance? There was a problem with a recent kernel that made the home button function as a back button. Try flashing a newer kernel.

Unfortunately this isn't the issue. The home button and lockscreen are not working because the device thinks it is not provisioned. The device has to be provisioned in order for these two functions to work. The database has to be updated to provisioned so that they start to work.

Yes you can, it is just much smaller
I aim to build that provisioning into the ROM, I'm just not sure how yet.

oo oo, do you know how to get the 5 lock mod on this?
oh yeah, if you need a beta tester let me know.
great job on the rom, thanks man.

No one has built anything for this framework yet, only EB01. You could probably load the EB01 5 lock mod on this, but I can't promise you compatibility. Also, the custom Settings.apk used in that package would have menu links to things that do not exist at all in this ROM, like the Sync Service.

DISCLAIMER:
If you hold me responsible for bricking your device, I will laugh hysterically.
I found this while searching for the perfect, fastest, most stable AOSP-based ROM with exceptional battery life and thought I'd share with the XDA community. I will update this as they come (until I get the Sensation or Sensation XE ).
Although a majority of the N1er's will stick with CM, MIUI or SENSE, this is here for the barebone lovers.
MAIN FEATURES:
SuperUser and busybox pre-loaded ("rooted")
ClockworkMod recovery and nandroid backup/restore image
Automatic notification and secure, over-the-air downloads of system updates
Trackball wake setting (for Nexus One phones with broken power buttons)
Option to link media/music volume with ringer volume system-wide for simplified control
Native screenshot capability through the globally-accessible power menu.
Ability to reboot, reboot to bootloader, and reboot to recovery from global power menu
Large list of preset APN configurations for most GSM networks
Ability to use SIP over non-WiFi connections
Ability to hide failed unlock patterns on pattern lock screen, for added security
"Copy all" shortcut from long-press menu on any text field
Global setting to always silence camera shutter sounds
Alarm Clock App: Option to speak the time when pressing snooze, and use a large snooze button
Camera App: Ability to use physical volume keys as a shutter button.
MMS/SMS App: Settings for dark background and font sizes
MMS/SMS App: Customizable number of vibration iterations
Web Browser: Ability to change user agent and an increased number of maximum windows
Web Browser: Ability to use DuckDuckGo for secure web searching
REQUIREMENTS:
- Radio version 5.08 (This is due to the fact that this was the latest version officially released to ALL N1's. The developer doesn't want to take any chances risking stability.)
INSTALLATION:
I used the fastboot method, but I believe you can use nandroid and CWM Recovery as well.
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
^THIS UNLOCKS YOUR BOOTLOADER, YOUR WARRANTY WILL BE VOID
Code:
fastboot -w update /path/to/blandroid.zip
^THIS WIPES ALL YOUR DATA (except SDcard)
Your phone will reboot when completed. Remember to flash the Google apps and any kernel you prefer. If you are using AmonRA you will have to re-flash your recovery as the fastboot method restores a clockwork recovery.

Thanks for your work and always appreciate ongoing rom development.
How does this rom compare to other ASOP roms like Oxygen which is pretty vanilla too? Can we use pershoot's new kernel on this?
Thanks
Very interesting to see indeed. I am getting fed up with lags and FCs with my messaging and dialer and sometimes need my device to run butter smooth. Will try and give review... Features look nice.
Very stock.... Stable as can be. No a2sd and limited kernels for AOSP Roms. If you want a stock Rom, this is one of the very best.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
its basically the most dry vanilla rom with stability the number 1 priority. no crashes/fc's/random reboots..
if youre looking for something fancy, this isnt it.
I cannot flash latest release. Zip is unsigned, and when I turn off verification in Ra 2.2.1 It still doesnt work..

a few comments/notes on installation:
Trackball Wake setting is in Settings->Display
Music app signature not showing update for Google Music in market (ie market version of Music installs alongside bundled Music app)
I use AmonRA, so I reflashed it. Could probably have removed recovery.img from the zip
deleted bootanimation.zip from /system/media
got a Gallery force close.
It's AOSP Android w/ trackball wake, exactly what I wanted for this particular device. Will report back if I notice anything else.
This is fantastic! The only problem I've ran into so far is, I can't seem to adb push anything. As far as I know, I have all the permissions... Looking forward to whatever you do to this next.
This rom doesn't have any a2sd features, right?
Iam always running out of memory..

adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk c:/path/etc
OR
use root explorer
then to put it back:
adb push c:/path/etc /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb shell
chmod 744(i think) /system/framework/framework-res.apk
i wouldnt advice using root explorer to push the file in.. it can cause a crash because of the permissions
Nice ROM! I was searching for an alternative ROM without the f** DNS-bug (Cyanogenmod-based and much of AOSP roms have it) and this is the only one haven't it.
I would like to use the Radio FM. Spirit FM seems to work because I can find radio stations but I cannot listen anything.

This is based on the 3.0.1.A.0.145 UK firmware since it currently is the only one that works with the R800x still allowing service. This is a the stock UK firmware with tweaks made to allow phone calls and sending/receiving mms. Everything is working: phone, navigation, sms, mms, bluetooth, wifi, camera.
Instructions
1. Backup
2. Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and system.
3. Download DoomLord's DoomKernel v3 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15805471&postcount=2

4. Download my zip file, save to root of SD card, and install via CW recovery. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/35097081/R800x_UK_15NOV.zip
5. Now flash the kernel via fastboot and enjoy.
Note: If coming from Verizon stock firmware, dial *#*#4636#*#* and change preferred network type to CDMA auto instead of GSM/CDMA auto.
Thanks
Many thanks to DoomLord for awesome kernels, Zerojay for his update script, and Chevyowner for his CDMA patch.
Bugs
1. Contacts shortcut defaults to import contacts screen even after selecting to not show again.
FIX-access contacts from phone.

Yes everything works. I will edit the first post to reflect that. The only known bug I have found is the Contacts screen always defaults to the initial screen for importing contacts so I just replaced that shortcut from the dock and go to contacts from the phone shortcut.

I remember seeing in DoomLord's thread where he made changes in the kernel for
4.0.A.2.368 that gave better init.d support.
NM, had the wrong CDMA mode selected.
Is there a safe to remove apps list? Seeing the chinesetextinput.apk at 8MB is disturbing to me. Haha.
After playing with this for a while I think the only other bug would be the incoming call slider being cut off for some reason. Other than that this ROM runs great and everything works.
Do u need an unlock bootloader to flash this?

The .368 kernel didnt work with this firmware, I tried it and did not have camera. The v3 .145 kernel posted here seems to have something different to it because no matter where I put busybox or how I edit scripts the dalvik2cache mod never works. Ive tried using both the dalvik hack zip and Dooms dalvik mod zip and neither work. Same results with the .145 kernel on stock verizon firmware.
I also tried running the insecure adb .apk even though the kernel is already insecure, still no luck. No support on the problem from doom either.
I flashed back to stock kernel and the dalvik mod works fine with this firmware so its def. the kernel. Just cant seem to figure it out!
Does the manual process through ADB not work with v3 either? Would rather be sitting at 140MB free instead of 71MB. Haha.
Also is there any way to get Wireless Tether for Root Users to work? I tried setting to Nexus One, and it keeps popping up that hotspot is active, and won't allow anything to connect.

I actually had the built in wireless tether work for me without using an app or sending me to the verizon page.
Try the new alternate kernel I posted for the init.d script problems and let me know if it works.
I'll have to test after work. I'll let you know how it goes.
Also, separate question: Doomkernel v3 is supposed to have a whole host of cpu governors, but my setcpu only shows conservative, ondemand, userspace, powersave, and performance. No Smartass, interactive, or any of the other frills that are supposedly in his v3 kernel. Do you guys have the missing governors, and am I just stupid or something?
I will test it out. Just to be sure, this is a test to get the dalvik hack working, or are any other tweaks involved?
Also how do I get into CWM with this kernel? I can't seem to get in there either through hitting the back button, volume rocker while booting. I also can't seem to get into it by rebooting into it through Rom Toolbox, I ended up having to boot off recoveryplay.img.
I have 197MB free up from 57!
You have to spam the back button to get into recovery while it boots. I start spamming as soon as "sony ericcson" shows on screen. If you wait until you get the SE animated boot logo, you're too late.

Entropy's Daily Driver kernel (02/28/2012)
Init.d governor is ondemand
zipalign init.d script (newly installed apps get zipaligned)
A few other script tweaks
All added applications are updated.
Milocker app added.
Reverted to UCKH7 modem
Made some small changes to the ROM. Added smoothness and resolved the haptic issue. IE: No need to do a "wipe data/factory reset" if you lose haptic feedback upon install.
ICS Launcher has been removed! Sam from MobileTechVideo's pointed out an issue that turned out to be an ICS Launcher issue that has yet to be repaired in the app. Not a big deal, but I'd rather remove it until they fix it. You can always install it from the market if you want it.
This will be my last Gingerbread ROM until official ICS source is released for AT&T. Well, maybe. Depends on my workload at work which recently has been very heavy.
MobileTechVideo's review of CoZ ROM v3 is below. Thank you, Sam!
UPDATED to Android OS 2.3.6
Deodexed and Zipaligned
Rooted (Superuser, and Busybox added)
init.d support
UCKK6 modem
Entropy's Daily Driver kernel (12212011)
Added lidroid's 14 toggle mod in status bar drop down. Edited to give it more of an ICS look. QuickPanel Settings app in your Applications drawer so you can move/remove/add as you please.
Nexus Prime bootanimation
Extended Power Menu
WIFI connectivity should not be an issue thanks largely to Entropy512 for his awesome kernel!
Lock screen issue is resolved, but this was an Android issue to begin with that they resolved since 2.3.4
Apps Removed:
Amazon Kindle
All AT&T apps
Books
Buddies Now
City ID
Days
Genie Widget
Kobo
Mini Diary
Press Reader
Protips
Qik Lite
Terminal Emulator
Words With Friends
Yahoo Finance
YPmobile
Zinio
and all of the HUB apps
Apps added:
Launcher Pro
BetterBatteryStats
CatLog
CPU Spy
Titanium Backup
ICS Launcher
SGS Secret Code app
Vlingo
BLN Control (free)
xda
Zedge
ICS Dialer
ICS contacts
General ICS themed, but not completely (see screenshots)
How to install:
1) Download Zip to your internal sd card
2) Boot into CWM. Go to post# 2 for instructions if needed
3) Highly recommended you go to "Mounts and Storage" and format /data
4) Go to "Install Zip from sdcard" then "choose Zip from sdcard".
5) Navigate to and install the ROM (it will wipe system, cache and davlik for you)
6) First boot can take several minutes
7) IMPORTANT:
When and if restoring data with Titanium Backup ONLY "Restore missing apps with data" and nothing else otherwise you may have issues like missing vibration and/or haptic feedback.

CoZ ROM v3... Still solid, light, simple, dark and stable.
Credit has to be given to the following talented people:
Entropy512 (for his kernel)
lidroid (for his toggle mod and general helpful nature)
gtg465x (for initially helping me with an extended menu issue before I learned how to build it correctly)
h8rift (for answering questions and wiliness to help)
Criskelo (for letting me use his toggle icons for CoZ v1 and v2)
Download Archive:
CWM Package download for CoZ ROM v3.1:
Go here to download: CoZ ROM v3.1
What good is a CWM package if you don't have CWM?
CWM = ClockWork Mod
Note: Your phone needs to be rooted for a non-Odin install. There are many threads in this forum on how to root so I won't get into it here.
Now you need to obtain a kernel that has CWM included. I recommend the latest kernel from Entropy512's thread located here.
You'll want to extract the zImage file out of the Zip and save it on your computer.
If you have the Android SDK installed and working on your computer then save the zImage in its tools directory and then type the following command from this location:
Code:
adb push zImage /sdcard/zImage
Otherwise you'll want to plugin your phone to your computers USB connection and paste the zImage file in the root of your internal SD Card.
Next you need to flash the kernel.
Via ADB (press Enter after each line):
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/zImage of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
Via a Terminal Emulator installed on your phone (If you don't have one download "Android Terminal Emulator" from the Market and install it. It's free):
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/zImage of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
Reboot.
Note that in the above two code examples when you type su you'll get a prompt to allow the "Superuser Request" if its the first time you invoke it from either program.
To boot into CWM in ADB type:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Or, unplug your USB cable if plugged in, and press and hold vol UP + vol DOWN + Power buttons. Wait until it reboots and you see the Samsung Galaxy S II boot screen and release all 3 buttons. This should place you in your CWM menu.
Doing it this way should keep you from getting an exclamation point on your boot screen which is the main reason why I explained how to do this in this manner. If, by chance, you still get an exclamation point or already had one to begin with the only option I can think of is to use a jig. Not that a jig isn't a good thing to have anyways. Any ROM you flash from within CWM will not be added to your Custom Image count and will not produce the annoying exclamation point on the boot screen.
Absolutely first thing you want to do is boot into CWM.
As of this writing, press the Home button to choose an entry and press your Power button or the back button to go back to the previous screen.
Go to: backup and restore
Choose Backup
This will take a few minutes, but is well worth it. Now if you ever mess up your install you can always boot into CWM and restore the image you backed up. This, however, doesn't protect you from flashing bad bootloaders so word to the wise... DO NOT FLASH BOOTLOADERS!!! At this point and time there is no need to.
looks nice!
Thanks !!!
Good to see another dev joining the S II ranks. I can't wait to give this a go.
Thanks Coz, will try this one out. looks like the perfect theme to match the go launcher glass icons I always seem to come back to using.
Update: No issues with the rom yet, been running it all day. Only issue (not from the rom) is that I loose root if I change the kernel. I'm trying to use Zedomax OC kernel, but since root breaks I can't OC.

I have not tried the Zedomax kernel, but I'm not a fan of overclocking. I can say that I've been using my ROM for a while and for me, its always been as stable as can be. Definitely not saying that because it's my ROM. I appreciate you using it as your daily driver for now
Updated to include CWM install instructions.
I love this rom. I hate to even try something else.

CoZ ROM v2 has been posted and is available in the OP.
Cozmo1 I just have to say you have been really active with the updates. That's really awesome from what I noticed there is still not many developers on the AT&T SGS2 So I am really happy that your contributing so much, unlike me >_> Who can't develop Still Once I get home today I'm going to flash everything i can for some runs I'll pick my favorite and run with it for a bit. All of your stuff looks super tempting though.
I may have to give this a try later

Currently it does not have init.d support, but it'll be an easy thing to implement in the next release. I must admit I don't know why I haven't thought of implementing it already.

[View][ROM]{Honeycomb} +1 Rom of Nonsense {Desensed}

Alright, I made a ROM for the Evo View based on Graffix's Desensed since I found that alot of the bloatware from HTC was still there. I removed multiple things from it and will eventually start modding it entirely to match AOSP and without sense until we get an ICS port.
You MUST have done this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409306
Rom Features:
Based off the HTC View HC OTA
deodexed
rooted
busybox
zipaligned
Stock HC Launcher
Stock HC Notification bar/navigation
Stock HC wifi signal meters
Stock HC Keyboard
Stock HC Bootanimation
Stock HC Browser
Stock HC MMS
Stock HC Email App
No icons on lockscreen (only the stupid ring)
Removed HTC apps / bloatware (except for Notes because people might need it.)
Removed MMS.apk (in a flashable zip in 2nd post for those of you who text with this device.)
Removed Sprint Wifi tether (Tablet plans no longer have unlimited data so this made sense to me. There is a flashable zip for you guys who want this back)
Removed HTC Sense entirely except for framework files and things that caused FC's
Based on Graffix's Desensed rom so it has asus launcher, email, as well as a few otherthings.
Removed the HTC Startup wizard and replaced with AOSP Honeycomb one
Turned into a "wifi only" rom which means the sprint radio is off (you can flash the sprint radio enable zip in the 2nd post to change this)
Default language is english
(Note: If you try and activate wifi in the startup wizard, it causes a FC. I haven't found a fix yet.)
Future Features: Themed by moneymike55 (A close friend of mine that made Honeycomb 3D Cyanogenmod 7 theme and the Ice Cream Sandwich 3D themes for CM7.)
Modified WPA_supplicant file (if I can find one that works)
Bugs:
Won't let you connect to wifi on first boot to activate sprint while in setup wizard (on stock honeycomb one) just flash Sprint activation zip found on 2nd post and also if you're using it as wifi only, when you actually get to the homescreen it allows you to connect to wifi just fine. This is as of now, unfixed and I'm not sure I'll be able to fix it. I just tried with an HTC Flyer setup wizard.
If anyone wants to help me out with some things, just post modifications that you know work or if you're a themer, I wouldn't mind you changing the lockscreen to a honeycomb icon atleast.
Changelog, download link, and tweaks are in 2nd post
Screenshots and credits are in 3rd post
Changelog:
Code:
2.0: Changed build.prop to remove startup wizard on first boot, updated facebook, some other small tweaks.
v1.5: Updated busybox, fixed no connect to pc,
disabled sprint radio on boot, and fixed a few lag problems.
v1.0: First release
Download link: http://goo-inside.me/roms/Indirect/Evo_View_4g/plus_one_rom_nonsense.zip
Tweaks:
Sprint Radio Enable (flashable zip): http://www.multiupload.com/YQYX74GSP9
Messaging app (flashable zip): found here
Modified WPA_Supplicant file for Ad-hoc (Flashable zip): http://www.multiupload.com/W6RJJHJL3C *You need to choose to connect, disable wifi, then turn back on and it will connect.
Sprint Hands Free Activation (Flashable zip):
http://www.multiupload.com/H6VSLP6P93
Bugs:*Fixed On first boot, will not register using wifi or allow you to setup wifi. Just wait until you boot into the homescreen to login to wifi and it works fine from there.

If I am already on Graffix's ROM, do I need to do a complete wipe before putting down Nonsense ROM?
Yes you do.
Messaging app flashable zip now added to 2nd post.
Great work. I just got my Evo View tonight in the mail (eBay purchase NIB). I have to build out my Bootcamp partition on my MBP this weekend then root my Evo View.
One quick question if I am running this ROM is the Spring 3G/4G radios disabled or do I need to run that bootscript that will allow me to configure them to disable on bootup?
Thanks for the hard work.
It is not completely disabled on first boot but afterwards, handsfree activation doesnt show up.
Very nice. Clean and smooth-ish.
Needs a little tweak here and there

trust me sookieball, once we get kernel source which we should soon, I'll work with a kernel developer and have this thing flying at between 1.8 - 2.0 ghz, depends on what's stable.
An update to fix the no "Connect to PC" showing up on usb connect will be uploaded on monday when I'm back in town.
I'm gonna work on an update.zip for it and see if I found the culprit of the problem over the weekend then apply the fix to my rom.

You're right. It is there. I'll look into it.

Next update on Monday will include removal of the sprint radio by default but will include Init.d support hopefully. I'll be uploading a zip to restore sprint radio today.

I posted this in your other thread in general but figured I'd post it here as well
if you used my 1.2 base it has init.d support. I just didn't advertise it because I wanted to get some scripts done.. I did notice that for them to run the permissions have to be changed for the script file. It wasn't running until I gave all execute permissions as well. If you are trying to use the script to disable the radio at boot via init.d it won't won't so I was informed. Because init.d happens before the radio stuff so you disable it with a script and then the system reenables it when it gets to the radio configuration stuff. Best way to test init.d is make a script that just echos something "echo "******** my init.d test*****" then at boot just do a location to a file and look for that text. Adb shell logcat > logcat.txt
Attached is a copy of my logcat showing a line written to test init.d which was run on the 1.2 kernel and system
you'll notice "************************************************* ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ********************GRAFFIXNYC INIT D TEST********************************************** ************************************************** **********************************************"
That's what I did to test to make sure it was working
yeah, I'm uploading a rom now until I can look into the script not running right.

Look at my thread I have a couple screen shots of what my permissions are set to on the folder and the script. I couldnt get any scripts to run until I changed the permissions to that
Graffix: The proper permissions (so you know) is 755 so chmod 755 = rwx, rw, rw I believe.

it's actually 0755. I noticed permissions were not set in the update script. If you add this line to your update script it will set the permissions. I didnt see this line in my update script
set_perm_recursive(0,2000,0755,0755, "/system/etc/init.d");

Ok, Got the "Activity Market (in app market)not responding.

Well with a locked boot loader any "custom" ROM are all going to be about the same. Since we cant overclock, or upgrade past 2.3.3 yet. They are all just tweaked a little differently, like my ROM in comparison to COLA, has only a few minor differences... IT-ROM has the camera mod built in, has toggles built in to the theme, carrier name removed, and a few other cosmetic changes.... the next update will have tweaks built into the build.prop, adds a green dialer theme, and replaces font with stock font. This is my first attempt at playing with roms. It was more of a learning tool for me to get the basics down for removing system app, replacing system app, and what not.

Hey thats awesome info! I was wanting to do something like that but wasnt sure how to make a update.zip, and really didnt want peope to have to reflash the entire ROM again, i know how frustrating it is to have to re-do all your desktops, and widgets, and re-enter al your accounts and sync info.
Would you mind PM'ing me, or post it here, on how to make the symlinks, i am 100% unfamiliar with doing that. (im still learning all of this) Even if it doesnt work with the COLA based ROM, i'd stil like to learn this for future projects, and well, just cause its something I dont know how to do, and I ike to learn.

I know a little bit too, don't worry. You need to keep the Setup Wizard APK which, if absent, breaks the Home button in case of a data wipe. Plus, even if you put a /data folder, it can be empty.
XIT, I think the best that you can do for the symlinks is to grab another ROM (from the Play if possible), unzip it and check its symlinks. I'm not too sure of what symlinks your ROM needs. You can see the symlinks in the update script file in the Meta-Inf folder.

wont work.
locked bootloader cant flash a whole filesystem and datasystem
thats why UK rom has to be flashed as nandroid
1-2 files with the wifimodules work because your just pushing something
but when you try to
format /system
push /system
format /data
push /data
it basicly is going to wipe out CWM recovery in the process because if ur aware the CWM resides in system folder
so yes it wont work for locked bootloader
also I wouldn't keep setup wizard because it is a costly file to keep when it's never needed
the cost is about 1.2 mb not including data if i remember correctly.
so its gone.
when you use nandroid backup you dont need it anyway
I think you're right, I forgot about where the cwm was.

ya i know because i've tried it myself
i created update .zip and the CWM would always return error
i could never get it to work as many times as i tried
I like it, very nice. Plenty of space, apps and drawer loads faster. I implamented the "adb shell, pm setInstallLocation 2, exit". That way I can choose pretty much any app to be moved to sd or installed to sd. Stable rom so far today, no issues.
