No and not in future
PS: you should have posted this in general thread, this is Development thread.

usb otg
Not working out of the box.
My setup:
"manufactured" otg cable
usb hub
usb cable from an external hdd (with two big USB connectors)
Connected the manufactured otg cable to phone, the Y usb hdd cable connected to the computer for power and to the manufactured usb otg cable and also to the usb hub.
In dmesg I get something about OTG going into low power mode, but nothing about the usb hub connected or about the usb keyboard connected to the usb hub. Just as connecting the charger.
I do not know if this is fixable. (kernel modules or something).
as a note, I used that Y cable in order to provide power to the USB, as the phone apparenly does not provide any power (if using only the diy otg cable the usb hub does not power).
With the power provided from the computer (the second USB plug on the Y cable has only the power pins connected, not the data pins) the usb hub powers up but it is not recognised by the phone, and the phone starts charging (power flows from the computer tot the USB hub and to the phone) but does nothing else.

How to USB cable and flash storage connect?

Hi,
Having just tried female to female usb connected to the oem usb cable by samsung, was hoping it will be able to connect and detect a flash or external drive but it did not.
So the question is this, since a usb is universal, would it be because of the oem cable or missing support from the kernel?
Even if power is supplied through, nothing was detected but power and it started to charge.

USB Host mode?
Seen a youtube video introduced a special usb dongle as an accessory which turns the microusb port into usb host mode and it will allow keyboard and various other devices to be connected.
Seems like it is not a usb host port on its own.
You need a USB cable that supports OTG. You can get one for a few bucks from Amazon. The kernel already supports attaching all kinds of USB devices, so just make sure you have the right cable.

High powered usb problem, unpowered Hub works

I have a Sony Xperia P. Some USB-Devices work well with the OTG adapter, but with some devices i only get the message High powered usb problem. If i connect the OTG cable to an unpowered HUB and then the devices to the HUB, every USB device works. Is there any way to connect the High Power USB devices directly to the Phone?

OTG cable with power

Hi there!
I've got this cable:
Black Color Micro USB 3.0 9Pin OTG Host Flash Disk Cable with USB Power for Samsung Galaxy Note3 N9000
http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00IWEFNQ2/ref=pe_386430_30332290_TE_3p_dp_1
Looks like when I connect battery to OTG, the power goes to external drive only, not to SGP.
I am a bit confused. OTG doesn't let me connect both Passport drive and power battery at the same time.
I never used OTG with power connection before.
Should it work like that or something wrong?..
Hi,
Yes, that is how this OTG w/USB Power works.. as you can see the "USB Power" comes out of the USB Host connection (not the 9Pin Micro USB plug), so therefore the USB power is for powering the USB drive or device you are connecting to the Samsung Device... this is generally used for USB Hard Drives that require extra power to turn them on, etc.
If you wanted to have a USB Drive plugged into your NotePro and also Charge the NotePro you would need something with the USB Power coming from the USB 9Pin connector. I do not believe such a cable exists or is possible... but I could be wrong.
Thanks for clarification, Leighm0. I suspected that...

You are going to need a USB 1.x/2.0 Female Type A to Male Type Micro-B adapter cable.
The XTZ's USB port does not supply enough amperes to power most portable USB HHDs, so when selecting an HDD, make sure it requires very low amperes.
The WiFi mouse's Windows-based adapter will not work with the XTZ unless the mouse's manufacturer can provide Android drivers. You need to check with the manufacturer to see if they have any, but I highly doubt they have Android drivers. You will have better luck using a Bluetooth or USB mouse.
You can use a non-powered or powered USB hub to gain more USB ports. A powered USB hub would be a better choice because it would eliminate the problem of powering a USB HDD. Most powered USB hubs are powered by AC adapters, but you can find some that are battery powered.
There are several discussions in this forum about USB MHL to HDMI adapters. Search the forum to find out which adapters work with the XTZ.
You cannot charge a device using a charger through a USB hub. You will need a powered USB hub specifically designed for charging devices.
Right but the question is does the Xperia z tab can be charging the some time when is connect to tv via hdmi?

Try using a Micro USB Host OTG Y-Cable with Micro USB Power for Sony Phones & Tablets from Valarm, which they say has been tested with the XTZ SGP312.

Is It Possible To Plug In More Than One Micro USB Device Into The Note 3?

I have a freeview TV adapter plugged into my note 3. Problem is I can't charge it so I have to stop watching TV and wait until its charged. Can I get anything like a micro USB hub. I've seen a few but they are only regular USB ports and not USB micro which I need for my devices. Thanks in advance.
I have MHL to HDMI adapter which hooks up to TV and to a phone charger (other side goes to phone) so it is possible, but I can't say if usb hub would work, since I have not test it.
You can connect a regular USB hub to your micro usb to usb OTG adapter. I tried connecting both a mouse and a keyboard to the hub and it works fine
USB hub won't allow you to charge the device while they are connected. you can either use MHL to HDMI cable as Pete4k advice and enjoy MHL 2.0 while charging or buy one of those USB OTG adapter reader but where you can connect several peripherals and charge at the same time.
