cause other phones do connect to it, while they are not able to find ad-hoc

BTW, I think I killed throttling. I still get full speed even going through throttling point.

In my area I find that I keep jumping from HSDPA to Edge and back constantly, which breaks my data connection briefly. It's very annoying.
I found that changing the setting to WCDMA only fixed this, and did not result in loss of data connection - it just kept me where I needed to be.
Only problem is at my house, suddenly I could not connect to my wireless internet no matter what I tried. I could connect to the neighbors slower open internet connection, but not my own. Tried everything. When I set it back to Auto mode, I could connect again with ease.
Any suggestions for a way to be WCDMA only and still connect to my wireless? I don't understand networking well enough to help myself.
On my backflip running CM7 from Jr0dd I used to be able to use USB tethering while the phone is connected via wifi with airplane mode on ( in essence turning my phone into a really overdone USB Wlan stick )
On the Atrix with airplane mode on, turning on tethering over USB, everything seems to go okay. The phone can get online via my works wifi router fine. my tethered computer can't ping IP addresses or domain names through terminal though. Rebooted the phone and restarted tethering with the same results. If I disable airplane mode and shut off wifi, tethering over 3G / H+ works fine, its just slow and noisy on speakers.
I used this for computers that have an iffy Wlan card often and would like to know if this was never intended to work, only was a fluke that it did, or if I can show a logcat or similar so someone smarter than I can investigate the issue.

I have a rooted SGS2 with NeatRom. And I am sharing my internet with wifi hotspot to my computer.
Is there any mode or anything, that makes my phone go into some mode, that only enables internet/data sharing and such.. Like a modem, to save battery and also, that the actual phone dont use so much data.
Anything?
