ok so i was given a dell streak for free because my dads old boss dropped it in the water. well i replaced the battery the phone works but i can not unlock it because it needs his google account and password. i can not get ahold of the previous owner. is there any way i can get it unlocked without his google account and password

im new to a streak. i have a incredible i rooted. but what is that tool you are talking about. because the streak is not rooted. i just need to be able to get past needing his email and password to get into the phone. and i can not boot into recovery its really weird
it does a fresh install on your phone, its saved my arse a few times when i thought i had bricked my phone

Have you try factory reset on dell menu? I think if you do that, it will wipe all the personal data on the phone and starts like a new phone.
OK ill have to try that when I get home. I'll let you know how it goes

Oh yes, i forgot about that, do a factory reset. Turn off the streak, then press volume uo and down button while powering on the streak keep on pressing vol up and down button until dell 4 options menu pops up, select.factory reset and you are good to go.

Listen, turn off streak, when completely turned off press both volume up and down button then power on, do not remove your fingers on up and down button until the 4 choice menu appears, do not remove your fingers when you see the dell logo, the 4 choice menu comes after the dell logo, i repeat, it comes after the dell logo so do not remove your fingers until you see the 4 choice menu. If you can not follow this instruction i do not know if you could follow the instruction on streakdroid on how to set up qdltool, that is the other way to reset your streak.

Hi tyler,
You have to click all those 3 buttons altogether and dont remove your fingers until the dell logo disappear and replaced by the menu.

yeah, that is strange.Can you go on fastboot? that is poweroff your phone and then power on holding the camera button at the same time.
If you can do that, then I guess you can update the baseband and maybe can reset to recovery. Search for the forums on how to update baseband if you can go fastboot. I'm not really sure about this but have it a go.

Any one else got unlocking the front screen issues. I can see it bit can I slide it........eventually it works but its a pain in the a$$.
I think I'll go back to the beta, it seems to work better.

Look for the user "knobs" on this forum has a program called "menu unlock" it requires root, but it allows using the menu key to unlock the phone like in the 1.6 builds, works great if my slide to unlock gets flakey, i just hit the menu button.

YES! I hate this unlock/lock screen in 2.1. I am always having a hard time getting it to work on the first try. The worst though is when I have to answer a call. It sometimes takes 4 or 5 swipes at it. My wife thought I was ignoring her call at the mall the other day because I could not get the thing to answer.

My Samsung Moment did that all the time, but no thats not normal and Id say take it back. Neither my E4g or E3d has ever done that.

Mine turns off all the time, You just have to hold the power button for a couple of seconds and it asks power off and you press it and off it goes

I did a hard reset after 4 days of it happening and it didn't reset for a while then it started happening again randomly. Like I could have the phone charging while not using it then a reset. It even happened to me while I was actually talking on the phone. I dunno why it's happening. It has to be the software coming in conflict with some app. I mean it's not a root or bypass method out that would cause damage to the OS. Maybe I should contact Sprint tomorrow about it.
Well, I called Sprint after I got another random reboot this afternoon. The rep connected me to order support and they're sending me a new replacement with a return kit to send this one back. So if you're having this problem, contact Sprint ASAP.
Mention to them that you did a hard reset to avoid going to a Sprint store. They won't replace it at the store if you purchased it online.
I just went to best buy and they replaced mine so I'm happy

Sort of on the same line, seems like sometimes a brief power button tap will bring up the shutdown menu, instead of putting the phone to sleep recently. Been watching it debating about returning it for a different phone. That happening to anyone else too?

This happened to me with my first phone. Random reboots, like 15 the first night I had the phone. Took it right back to the sprint store and swapped it out. New phone not one single random reboot.
Ok, I've had the replacement for 3 days now and I just got my first random reboot. I wasn't using it at the time. Just charging.

that may have just been sense restarting.
Any idea why all the sudden the galaxy note will randomly shut off completly and I have to use the power button to power it back on, sometimes it will sit there and viberate and I have to pull the battery. Its running stock ics. And YES ITS THE att note. I'm sending this with my international note

Try a reset or reflash the rom your using. Ice hasn't been released yet officially for the note so you must be on one of the leaks. Try reflashing

Problem is the phone automatically turns off in 10 secs every time even in download mode. I'll keep trying hopefully it will stick. Thanks for the tip though.

Wow that's a new one in me. I thought read someplace that certain roms react this way if the battery get to low and you have to go into cwm and do a cache wipe I think. Sorry that all I got .

If phone is turning off in download mode I doubt it is the ROM installed. Have you tried swapping batteries?
Also the issue seems to ONLY HAPPEN WHEN MOVING THE PHONE! SO I dont think Its a doftware issue. I tried changing battries same issue. It stayed on all NIGHT last night. Then when I go to touch it this morning it restarts.

How about if you leave the charger plugged in? Hopefully you can get the opportunity to get it restored to stock and have it exchanged under warranty.
Edit: stuck power button maybe?

It does it with charger too. But ONLY really does it while moving it
I CANT get it to even turn on now, It will viberate and show samsung and then shut off
I can get it into download mode for a sec and it will flash and turn off
The power button got mashed a little too hard.
If its store bought, its a warranty issue.
If its Craigslist or ebay you have to pull the whole thing apart and reseat the silver button in the case correctly and reassemble.
I've come across a few phones that have this defect.

Maybe one of your cables inside is loose and disconnects when you move it? I would either take your phone apart yourself or take it to a shop to get it checked.

It was bought over the phone in march, Im gonna call warrenty and deal with them tommrow, Cause last year when I had to call them the phone I had at the time would not turn on and they were telling me I needed to reset it lol

I recently purchased a Motorola Atrix 4G, its my first android phone and its been working well for a while. My fingerprint sensor stopped working after about 3 months of use. it first started taking long to recognize my print and now it just doesnt read. i cant even install a new fingerprint profile coz the sensor just wont read. I hope someone can help me fix this, but remember im still fairly new to the droid world so please run me thru step by step on how to resolve this. Im using Gingerbread v2.3.6.
One other thing, the phone hangs sometimes and restarts itself, anyone know a solution to this too?
Backup your personal data, apps, etc. and make a factory reset from recovery. Solves such problems mostly.

I would recommend titanium backup for apps, sms backup+ for sms & call log. You can use your google account for contact list backup & recovery.
You can get to the recovery menu by holding power & volume down buttons together during phone's startup.

Mine did the same thing. Had to get a replacement from eBay, cost a bit under 20$. Atrix is really easy to dismantle, iFixit have a detailed guide.

I managed to get another app to back up. I did the factory reset in settings but the fingerprint sensor still isn't reading. Or was i supposed to reset it when starting up the phone? Coz when i start up my phone & hold the power & vol down button it says fast boot & when i press the vol up button it says starting fast boot & gets stuck @ that. Suggestions?

Hold power & volume down buttons together until you see that phrase. Press volume down button again till you see the recovery, then press volume up to enter into recovery. That's it.

If you have an International Atrix , you can try flashing Full Firmware Froyo in RSD, and then flashing Gingerbread 2.3.6
It will fix everything. But if you are using an ATT Atrix, you will hardbrick.
The one thing you can do now is a Factory reset.

Hi everybody.
I was playing with my i777 and flashed a gallery file (just 1 apk) via CWM. It booted fine but crashed when using the camera and then rebooted. After reboot, it turned off and now I cannot turn it on again.
I tried download mode by removing battery, holding the two volume buttons and connecting to USB. That did nothing. I also tried USB jig which also did nothing. Connecting the phone to AC power source to see if at least the battery charging screen will show up also does nothing.
So the screen remains black with the soft buttons not lighting up. My phone is hard bricked from the looks of it. So my question is will sending this to MobileTechVideos for JTAG have a highly likelihood for unbricking or should I save the $50 and USPS charges and just buy a Nexus 4? I mean if they don't fix it, I will need a new phone anyway, heck I don't even have a spare phone.
Previous ROM was CM 10.1 03062013 nightly.
I don't even understand how that could have resulted in a brick...

I don't either but like I mentioned above. It rebooted ok after CWM flash then hung then android rebooted. It crashed then won't respond to jig, USB, power cable.
I failed to mention that I am afraid that this is an EMMC failure and that they might not be able to fix it and I would be wasting $50.
You say you tried Download mode, but made no mention of RECOVERY. If you can get there you're not bricked.

Try these. 1) Plug in ur charger and hold the power button for bout 15 seconds. If still a no go then
2) Try using USB jig again
3) Go to MTV.

Of course not. Flashed it with CWM recovery (or whatever recovery CM 10.1 comes with) as stated in OP.
