[FREE APP] MoboPlayer - Milestone XT720 Themes and Apps

New really great video player for your XT720!: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clov4r.android.nil&feature=search_result
To get the nice cover flow like view, go to settings and select "grid view".

MoboPlayer much better over Rock Player
unfortunately MoboPlayer does not play DivX
but it is not a deal breaker for me, as i mainly use MKV or AVI

I have also started using this and absolutely love it.

when you install mobo player over khal chef's roms (V4), it interferes with the security lock feature which is enabled for office emails. I always have to uninstall if i want to check my emails.

I think I'm somewhat dense here. Does anyone know how to get moboplayer to play the entire playlist? It always goes back to the menu after playing only one. I can't figure it out... That's the only reason I still have mvideoplay.

I like this app a lot and have it installed, but I do have one question. When I downloaded it, the market says it is only 3mb, but once I download it, it is more of a monster at nearly 12mb. Why is this and can I get it to be the original 3mb that I thought it was?
Edit: It is b/c the apk is only the installer. The market doesn't give you the total package size being delivered.
And always remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

VLC or mplayer for android OS

If I am reading it correctly someone is already working on the VLC port to android, I am wondering if there was any progress made.
Also, am interested in mplayer port, since the stock video player loaded on the device does not preserve the pause status, so if I am watching a movie and pause it, once I go back to the home screen to do something else and back to the movie I am in for a big surprise - I have to fast forwarded from the beginning to the point I left off.
I've heard for a while now that a android version of VLC is on the way but its only been whispers i've heard and i dunno about any progress. The stock video player isnt that bad despite the lack of some codecs. If you hit the menu button you should be able to set a bookmark on the video for the next time you load it up. Just hit menu then select the bookmark and you're back to where you left off. I use it all the time at work when i slack off and watch Mythbusters on my Vibrant.
Thanks for the tip!
I hope the all around polished media player comes to Android pretty soon.
Hmm don't see the bookmark option under menu

How do you play the Divx registration video on the Vibrant? I get an error in Video Player trying to play the .divx file I downloaded from divx.com and can't register the Vibrant now.

[Solved][Q] Streaming AVI Divx/Xvid

First of all, I am grateful that the vibrant can play divx encoded video files; I don't think I could live without it. Unfortunately it cannot stream them.
A solution is to start downloading the Avi and then [while its downloading] switch over to the Files application, go to the ".downloadTemp" folder [you need to first enable "hidden files" in the options], and open the incomplete *.avi in the stock video player application. This works wonderfully and i can instantly start watching a video AS IT DOWNLOADS.
UNFORTUNATELY, the video player app will not let me fast forward. Sometimes it lets me rewind, but it mostly takes me back to the very beginning of the video if I even touch the trackbar. And yes, for those who are wondering, the Video WAS sufficiently done downloading to reach the part of the video i wanted to fast forward to. I obviously wasn't trying to forward to the end of the video with only 10% of it downloaded.
I looked in the android market for alternative video players, and the only one that REMOTELY worked was Rockplayer. It would let me fast forward and rewind, except it was really glitchy and full of ads. I prefer just watching it on the perfectly stable stock Player than to use a glitchy one.
So i come to you guys, hoping for a solution. Any Ideas? Are there any other Video Players that i missed that will let me fast forward and rewind incomplete video files as they download?
(Oh, and if you're wondering the source of the videos, i usually just watch divx movies and shows that have been uploaded to megaupload, such as: megaupload.com/?d=T5D3YV8R&w=719&h=349)

Solved: VPlayer and Moboplayer support HTTP Streaming for DviX
I have read a few posts similar to yours, complaining about streaming divx avi files.
I myself do NOT have any issues with this and have tested a fair share of my 900gigs of divx avi's. I DO have issues stream MKV files while I have seen others report that they can stream MKVs.
What does this mean?
This means that AllShare is no different then any of the other DLNA based streaming software out there, there are compatibility problems that need to be worked out. Usually this is sorted out on the streaming server side and not the player.
I am saying that the software you are using to stream is more then likely causing the problem.
Give Twonky a try. Thats what I use and as I said I can stream divx/xvid avi's without issue. The downside is that Twonky is not free, the upside is that there is a 30 day trial to test and see if it resolves your issue. If it does, I dont think the price for Twonky is that bad, I paid $15. If you want a free one (they update compatibility less frequently) just google search DLNA or UPNP streamers and test a few out. XBMC is a good open source alternative, but is really not an option if you are using a windows box. XBMC is a program and not a service so you would be running a full media player at all times. XBMC can be setup as a standalone in linux though, if you have a spare PC to use.
Good luck.
When I say "stream," I don't mean from a home network source, I mean from an http source.
Therefore, I don't think the DLNA solution applies (Although i'm probably going to end up taking your advice for when i want to play videos from my computer, so thanks for the tip )
But that still leaves the current issue. Any Ideas?

AHHHHH.... I have been looking for a way to do this as well. HTTP streaming should no longer be an issue when 2.2 drops as sites like quicksilverscreen and the like all work fine through Flash 10.1 in 2.2. I have tested this with a Nexus1 and it works beautifully even over 3g.
I still want to have access to my home server though as I have close to a terabyte of video and my system is setup to auto download shows as they come out.
I am hoping to get my hands on a deODEXed version of the AllShare app to see if I can remove the WIFI only restriction. After that it should just be a matter of setting up a VPN back to my server.
Right, megavideo should work fine once we get the 2.2 update (woot! cant wait till we get flash xD)
as for movies uploaded on megaupload, I guess i'll survive with the .downloadTemp folder trick for now. Thanks.
And if i may ask, what's the quality like on allshare and twonky? and how fast does it respond to fast forwarding/rewinding?
I would like to stream from a regular windows samba share over wireless. I can't even get that working properly. It appears to be a limitation with the player and not the OS.

[Q] Questions regardin HD2 T-Mobile!

Good evening! I just bought a T-Mobile HTC HD2 and I want to know what program can I use to watch(convert) movies on it, as any movie I put on it, doesn't play it fluently, but with interruptions. Are there any codecs to install so that i can play movies on it?i also tried to put some avi/mp4 videos and they dont play at all .Although the manufacturer claims the phone can play Avi/mp4 etc! I know the phone comes with a card and with Transformers 1 & 2, but I didnt get the card from the person who sent it to me and I was just curious how those movies play. Can i find the movies anywhere? In the past i had 2 HD2's(not T-Mobile HD2) and when i wanted to put a wallpaper bigger the the screens resolution, the phone resized it to be used as wallpaper, but HD2 T-Mobile does not resize them but it stretches it and it looks ugly.I have only one more question for now:can flash player be installed on it?I found another problem :i set the time to a location, but every time i turn off the phone, when i switch it on it returns to GMT+2 Helsinki,Riga,Sofia and the clock goes an hour forward(I'm from Romania).

all of these questions can be answered by searching the forums....
id give you some links but im posting from device and its a pain in the ass....
ok, quick response - but dude, for everything I cant answer in one line off the top of my head seriously just search (and don't use the bad search engine on this site - search on google with xda in the box)
xmedia recode - great for converting - has a special htc hd2 setting
you don't need to install any codecs but if you want to install coreplayer to tcpmp
wallpaper - seach that, or batch resize, or if you're using CHT test the different wallpaper modes.
if flashplayer means flash - then yes, but search that
for the location - go into settings ---> and somewhere there (I would check in all settings and not in the sense settings) you can turn off autoupdate. If you want an exact place just search
Hope that helped a little bit more.
The thing that i find very weird is that a phone so powerful and with such great capabilities, can't play a video the right way(without converting it)and my Nokia N8 plays avi and mp4 videos without any problem(without converting them). On my old HD2 i tried to play some converted videos, but those didn't play well at all. It's like a 30FPS video that plays good, and a video taken at 15-20FPS that doesn't play that good. The N8 is just a simple phone with a great camera, and it can't be compared with the great HD2 and it's great hardware.
one answer for video..plays all formats, no need for converting...drag/drop and play....coreplayer 1.3.6 (paid version) or tcmp player (same free version)..enjoy
for wallpapers_install cookies home tab (CHT), and CHT editor
MP4 and AVI are not a consistand file formats. If you think of them as folders inwhich video and audio compressed files are filed. For example a DIVX film is a .avi file. My DVD player can play back DIVX AVI files, but cannot playback some other AVI files.

[Q] My Orbcast Streams

Has anyone been able to figure out how to get Orb Video Streams to play on their NC. I have the paid app, which works on the NC, but truthfully there are few apps as terribly executed as this one. The other option is to use the web browser, but I am unable to find a player that will play the winamp or wm streams (no, the winamp app does not play .pls streams.)
Any thoughts or suggestions.
same issue here. ideas?
StreamFurious plays .pls streams. I can't confirm how it works on the nook color, but it works great on my nexus one.
You are wasting your time with orb. I have used orb on and off for a few years now and can say that their product has only become worse with time. The only reason I used it for so long is because there was no better alternative.
I recently found VLC Stream and Convert. It is not a perfect solution and it requires a bit of setup, but it beats the hell out of Orb (and works great on both my Nook and Evo).

I don't disagree, but in this case simpler is better...

You could install flashable froyo .67. Install adobe flash, and then open the streams from a web browser. This should work. I'll test it out to confirm.
Update: Works! Install orb classic 2.50 on your pc, and also ffdshow audio decoder. Set up orb on your desktop. Go to mycast.orb.com on your Nook browser, go to settings and select stream format. Choose "flash." If you have an hdtv tuner installed on you desktop, go to program guide at the mycast.com page on your Nook, select your channel and voila, tv to go. Stay away from the orblive junk. I don't even know why they released that garbage. Adjust bit rate of stream as needed in the mycast.orb webpage on your Nook. Tested using Dolphin Mini.
PS: Saved video files also work.

How happy are you with Google Music?

What features would you like to see added/removed, and are you happy with it compared to the stock music app, or how do you feel it stacks up against another music app.
*This is a general topic, and I'm just curious to see the community's response.*
I don't use it. It doesn't have features I need.
Namely, ability to keep the screen from sleeping, and the ability to limit where it looks for music at.
i like gmusic. I dont use it daily (I use slacker daily) but gmusic works great when I do need it. Its far more reliable than when it first came out, so they're definitely making progress.
My only complaint is when I flash a new rom, it registers my phone as a new device so it adds it to gmusic (which is great) but google limits it to 8 devices. So occasionally I need to go into gmusic website and delete my old devices, which is all the same phone. Its not really a complaint for google but i wish there was a way for it to detect that its the same device/IMEI
I personally love google music I use it daily. I have a computer for school and don't want to cramp it up with music so I can stream everything. Also I use my phone in my truck for music and it is nice to have access to all my music when I need it.
Absolutely love it. I have my entire collection stored. My main problem lies when I'm doing file management and the media scanner starts while I'm playing music. Google Music stops streaming completely and I have to manually restart it. I turned caching off, so that the song being played is solely dependent on the connection, but it still does it. I suppose it stops to look for new songs that might have been added. I'd like it to at least resume playback when scanning stops.
The other thing is with optimization I guess. In my last billing cycle, I got throttled and streaming was impossible (as expected). However, Pandora was still able to stream entire songs, for long sessions without stutter (it just took longer between songs). I'm curious if it'd be possible for them to improve performance on slow networks, so that it's on par with Pandora.

General is something related directly to the phone or an app that comes stock with the phone. GoogleMusic does not fit that description since it has to be installed by the user and not everyone uses it. This should have been in Themes and Apps. Just sayin'.
I wish it would sync with a folder on my phone with all my music, so that when it tries to play a song, it checks that folder on my phone first before downloading the song with a weird name in another random folder. That way, whenever I add a song on my computer to the Google Music Folder, it adds to my phone as well when I try to play it, keeping my music in sync.

That'd be boss. Maybe in a future update?
I love google music.
Especially after switching from iTunes and my iPhone 4. I really hated iTunes haha
i like it on my zoom and Google TV. But I wish it would sync playlist too. A good playlist takes time and it wouldn't be nice to listen to them on phone, tablet and TV. The main thing that make be go back to the Samsung music player is that while connected to my Bluetooth stereo it shows track info on the stereo but the Google music doesn't. Not a big thing, but enough to keep me using the samsung player. If those two were fixed it would be a perfect player.

I too converted, and couldn't be happier.
Absolutely love Google music. No complaints here, it works great. I'm really happy that Google came out with this app, I show everyone with an Android phone.
im using PowerAmp i think its better than gMusic
Not bad... Steaming better but still slower than other streaming apps.
My biggest complaint is music purchased can only be played in gmusic and can't be downloaded to phone or computer. Frustrating when I paid for something. if they keep prices at $4.99 album $.49 song I might get over it... Doubtful that will last.
Saw app in market that claims to make music portable though.

Just click on the song you purchased and click download. It will let you download it at 320k and no drm. Also the google music manager has an option to auto download any purchased songs to your pc automatically.

I would really like to be able to download my music that was uploaded to google music. I had everything in itunes also, and one day after it was all uploaded itunes moved everything without me knowing it and that file got deleted on accident. Of course i didn't care at the time because nothing should have been there. Thanks itunes.

My only complaint is the shuffle feature isnt very good at all, I only have a library of about 400 songs yet some songs I never hear when I use shuffle all n some songs I will hear twice in a 10 song span. I use gmusic daily n love it other than that.

I wish there was a way to manage the songs on the server from the phone. I sent all my music to the server and now run across songs (when in shuffle) that I no longer want. Would like to delete the song off the server from my phone.
