Im looking for good images, icons, colors anything yall think represents steampunk well. Im looking for this stuff to help me speed along a SteamPunk theme i am imagining.
Ideas/suggestions for it are also welcome.
Let me be clear im not requesting a SteamPunk theme i am merely requesting community input to help give me ideas for the theme.

you read my mind, i was initially thinking of how a wifi antenna would looked in the 1800s but then i realized i dont have that imagination so i'm mocking up some concepts of the notification icons textured and bronze/copper riveted together, with bioshock style lights underneath
this is really gonna test my ability to use photoshop.
If this gets made and will work on Bi-Winning, you can count on donation from me. Oxidised bronze sure sure. Maybe a pressure gauge battery. Analog looking clock, etc. Depending on skill in photoshop.

i dont have infinite time on my hands so it will take a bit of time on my end, im realistically aiming for a release date some time in late april if not mid may
i do have a mockup of my pulldown bar icons done i want to get them on photoshop before i start showing yall my work. im not great at drawing with out grid paper.
Understood. This is a hobby for devs and themers alike. I'm just saying this is such a great idea that I look forward to the progress, no matter how long it takes.
How about with the bronze notification bar being bronze/copper, having the Notification pull down menu be like a steel colored wired mesh with a bronze frame and rivets. Rustier and dirtier the better lol. But really whatever will play nice with text on top. Great idea by the way.
I dont know how extensive iPhone themes are, but heres a pretty impressive looking one, you could crack it open and take a look at the images for some ideas. (EDIT: Ok so theres no link to download the actual theme, either way there are a few design elements you can glean from the screenshot.)

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take on a concepts for folder/general icons. I find myself still going fairly minimalistic & usually don't run more then 3 screens since I use folders more then anything. unfortunately its pretty hard to find good icons for folders.
Concept: glass style or a raised transparent .png. usually you see this image layered on top of icons. I was hoping there was a way just to get something to the effect of having the appearance of a "on screen button". Since I am the only one that actually uses my phone I would already know what folder is what without the labels or a dedicated "icon".
The icons can be rounded, boxed, glassy, transparent, semi-transparent, doesn't matter. If anyone would like to take on such a task I'd be very appreciative.

Well I did it again, More Dialers and more Honeycomb. This will probably be my last dialer theme for a while. I will eventually look into recoding the layout for hi-res landscape, I'll bet ya, Dell just copied the one from 160 density, and never tested it.
Anyways here it is, I actually started on 160, but had to build on 240. All dialpad keys are visible at 240dpi in portrait mode. In high res, landscape dialpads will be cut off as usual. Best I could do for now. You'll just have to rotate to portrait I guess.

update:HCPhoneThemev2 (without glow): icons updates, jog tabs now HC Style, and in call buttons now stock instead of transparent( just mute, bluetooth , and speaker).
update: Aug. 16 - HC Theme with Glow uploaded. Its slightly involved to add glow, and since I resized buttons to fit all densities, you'll noticed the pressed square effect, that's about the best I can do. Glow Color is actually much brighter, but the dark background darkens it. All icons updated in Glow and Regular version. Also added stylish highlight for tab selections.
I have tried to change the layout at hdpi to fit in the landscape dialer, I dont think this can be done via .XML, although it sure looks like it. the .xml calls out the Button Grid Layout as well as height and widths, I have tried changing them all, even ones I knew were not correct. Best I did was change the total layout allowed for buttons, but buttons size would not change. I saw in the .smali code where it calls to get height and get width, so I would think .xml controls it. Even I change the .png sizes it would still center them in the same spot in the layout I think.
Oh well, portrait is more than fine with me. I usually use my phone in portrait and try not to rotate it because Im on 220 lcd density right now.

Yea, I actually found that pic on Dell's website when the Streak first came out. I used it as my Facebook profile pic until all my friends got mad at me. It seems everybody hates the Dell Guy...

OP updated, Glow Version ann also updated many icons for both version.
this was good to help me learn how to create glow effect, I may be able to do another one with a very thin effect, like an out line, but I like the larger effect my self. It doesnt matter a whole lot to me, I was satisified with original version.
Waiting to hear your feedback.

wow, managed to cook em up pretty quick, but they wont work because they are .9.png's they stretch and distort, so I could just try a blur but likely wont look good. I'll check it out.

The blury .9 png's can still be fantastic! Reminiscent of a lightsaber. Maybe Star Wars themed over HC could be cool

I can get back, call and voicemail to glow as well as voicecall in landscape. I could make the glow effect smaller so you dont see the edge of the button and looks cut off... would probably be better, this is a really bright blue, but doesnt look as bright with dark wallpaper. I dont think I could make the glow effect on the numbers so small that it doesnt get cut off, because the numbers and letters take up so much room it would have to be a 1 or 2 pixel glow and that would still probably get cut off, unless I did similar to the bottom buttons and just use a generic gradient bubble background, but that doesnt look as nice.
Ill keep playing around with it when I have time, based on everyones feedback.
Seeing as how, CRT animation and gingerbread Overscroll looks a bit too involved for me. Quite possible for someone like DJ or Fards.
edit: idea: how about changing the bottom 3, .9.pngs to not touch the button edge, and have a transparent horizontal oval in the center, so it doesnt overshadow the icon. And.. I could try to edit the dialpad keys to "round" out the glow so again it doesnt look so boxy. I'll give it a shot when I have some time.

heres what I got, changed quite a few things,
lets hear what you think, I will look into making the glow.png oval instead of square, maybe that will help.
and the .9 button glows area gamble, some will look nice, others too large, etc.
change jog tabs to HC style. also change in call buttons such as speaker back to stock, just those 3.
next release will likely be last for this project. probably because I use phone so little and would like to focus on other things.
I want some mew backgrounds for the S memo app but have had no luck searching for any. A transparent background would be ideal. Any idea of how to implement this or a note app that supports transparent PNG files?
Over pulled the S memo app and will decompile it shortly to find the backgrounds. It doesn't seem to save them elsewhere on the SD card. However I'm unsure how to go about making a transparent image.
A white image with an opacity too it, then saved as a .png.. Give me some dimensions when you pull the backgrounds and I'll throw a few different variations your way.

Ok, it looks like they have the background as 3 or 4 parts. I'm not certain but I think that is how it'll have to be changed.

Wow, that's personalization to the max. Are you compiling a truetype of 1-9 or what? However you do it, please share. That'd be an awesome guide.
I intend on just replacing the 0-9.png files in the skin I'm using. If it works out I'll post it here with some screenies. Can you go ahead and make one with 100% transparency?

edit. Nothing. I'm thinking that the images are used in a different way to make the backgrounds. I'll look into it more and see if I can come up with the answer.
The android one won't work. I believe uploading a png as an attachment on XDA will automatically render it as a jpg. If you figure out which files to revise let me know.
S Memo Background
Regarding color schemes, i believe dark colored notes like the one used in S Planner in handwriting mode will be energy efficient for amoled screen devices and will also look great and elegant on any screen (like when you put it as a widget in the homescreen). I think the handwriting screen in s memo uses a dark gray background with light gray gridlines and an aqua blue font/handwriting lines. This makes it look great and unobstrusive.
Just a suggestion.
Not sure if you guys are already doing this, but you have edit the .9.png files in the drawable landscape and portrait xhdpi folders You cannot just overwrite a .9 png with a standard png or it will not work. I suggest googling how to edit .9 png files as I'm sure someone out there can explain it better than I can.

Hi,
I have installed GingerDX (v027) on my X8. In the Theme Chooser I have two themes to choose from: ICS and System (which is the one I use).
I really like how my phone looks as it does now, the only thing I would like to change is the color of the icons in the status bar (and of the main icons, if possible, of Call, Messages, Browser and the like) from green to something else, preferably blue.
I asume the right way to do this is by changing the theme (please correct me if I'm wrong).
I've read that CyanogenMod usually comes with three default themes (one theme in three different colors) and I would like to know where I might be able to find those themes (again, I'm asuming that the one I'm using, System, is one of those three).
I have tried downloading CM7 and extracted the files in the hope that I could find .apk files for the themes, but if they're there I don't know what they're called (there is a ThemeChooser.apk (and a ThemeChooser.odex file that I don't know what does), which I asume would install the app Theme Chooser again, but I don't know if the themes are included in that install).
I am a bit worried, though, that I've misunderstood something, because when I try to apply the other theme, Ice Cream Sandwich, the color of the icons aren't changed (but, there is also a warning when I try to apply the theme about missing assets for my screen size, maybe that is what is screwing things up). But if I have misunderstood this entire thing and a theme doesn't change the colors, then what does (do I need to get a new launcher for that then)? (I have the Nemus Launcher that came with GingerDX by the way)
Okay, this got a bit lengthy, so to recap:
I want to change the standard green color (to blue) without changing much else (I'm not too fond of most other themes I've seen, so the default theme in other colors would be fantastic)
Is it possible to find those default themes, and if so, how and where?

The other two themes you are talking about are Cyanbread and Androidian. The ThemeChooser.apk it's the theme chooser itself. They are normal CM7 themes, like ICS. Devs have eventually removed those 2 themes from their ROMs because they were old and not maintained anymore. System theme is the default theme of CM7/Gingerbread. You can't uninstall that one.
The "missing assets for the screen size" it's a bug which appears whenever you try to apply an MDPI theme. It's not screwing up anything, I can assure you that.
Also, what colors are you trying to change? Maybe you could give some screenshots.
You can delete the ICS theme by going into system/apps/ with a file manager with root capabilities.

If anyone's curious, here's an update on my color problem.
Installing Cyanbread sort of solved the issue: it changed the icons in the status bar from green to blue and the icon color (as well) from green to blue, which was what I wanted.
It didn't though change the color of the dots at the top of the screen (the ones that show where you are on the desktop) which was still green. I'm guessing, now that I know a bit more about themes and their different options, that it would have been possible to choose to hide those dots, but since I didn't know better I went looking for another solution (another reason for that is also that although Cyanbread is blue, then it's not the right kind of blue that matches the cover color of my phone - yes, I'm a bit of a perfectionist...)
I went looking for themes and found that both ADW and Go Launcher EX had a lot of good ones. I quickly realized, though, that none of those themes changed the status bar (which meant that I was back to my original problem).
So, here's my final solution (at least until I dare try my hand at making my own theme):
I found and installed a CM7 theme whose status bar I liked.
Then found a (in this case AWD) theme whose icons I liked.
Then changed the background image.
= a phone without any green!
(In the end I veered away from blue and I've ended up with a nice light glassy white combination that works really well with my prefered wallpaper. I've still chosen to hide the status bar though, since it's not a complete match and the screen looks better without it. And I've went into the CM7 settings to customize the lockscreen to fit as well as posible - I tried finding Go Locker themes, but none of them were perfect. The only odd bits of stray color is now an orange line that shows when you hit the top and end of the app drawer and I've had to chose to hide the background of the dock icons, since it looked botched on my phone for some reason - both are things I can easily live with.)

Nope, I don't think so. Coz its under themes category with a thread named 'default themes for theme chooser' so I just posted my question in a similar thread, which is, I am looking for a theme called steel blue.
And also since Chris is a Guy famous for theming I was hoping for an answer from him.

Hi guys, I decided to try and make a classy dark theme for my M8 that had a very regal feel to it.
This is my first theme so a lot of the UI is text based but I do plan on adding some small edging and decal features in the future.
Features:
Full music player screen with cover art and source selector.
Dynamic information sentences that deal with syntax.
A monochrome UI that blends well with the navigation bar.
Full dialer.

I haven't been able to test it on anything other than my M8 so I'm unsure how well this theme will work on a different DPI.

I'm using it now in SlimKat ROM with 245 LCD density on GNEX (toro), it suppose to be 320. I had to edit and move things around a bit but you kept everything customizable so it was easy thanks
I tried other themes but they're all messed up with 245 LCD density, and the designers didn't make it possible for me to resize the widgids and such
